Our offshore team at work is very affected by the pandemic at the moment and with the fiscal year approaching to an end, our reduced capacity is terribly affecting my time. For the next several weeks it will likely impact me in such way that I simply won't be able to keep up with the forums, things normalizing only as we start approaching mid June.
For the games where I play, GMs please feel free to bot the characters. If you don't desire to bot me for so long, I completely understand, apologize for the late notice and wish you all the best of fun. If you hold me around, though, I should be back after this storm.
For the games where I host, my sincerest apologies to the players - I won't let you hanging so if you stick around until my return we will give it continuation as normal. Otherwise, please message me and once I'm back I'll recruit replacements.
To everybody, I'm sorry for the late notice and I hope we will continue playing together once I'm back!
I think the gameplay thread got messed up, though :/ it usually occurs when the first post is deleted. Not sure if it was the case here or if Paizo can recover it (or if we need to create another campaign).
Some interesting parties around here. I decided to go with the Dwarf because (well, I love playing Dwarves) the previous application I did for the game (on the other thread) was a bit too different with the Shabti. Plus, fighters are awesome and I love the Combat Stamina system, and I feel that (despite trying to focus on his RP flavor) I can hopefully make him efficient enough to survive the hardiness of this adventure :)
Hi GM Spaz! Here's Archlich with my character to the group - Shadoo is a Dwarf Unbreakable Fighter, and confessedly a little lighter mood/more comical than the average (but not in a disruptive way, hopefully). Thanks for running it!
Yeah, that could be a good one for it! Or War for the Crown. In another game I'm playing, we came out with another idea to see in the future - Hell's Rebels, but all with renegaded imps seeking redemption. As in, actual hell's rebels... Lol
Don’t worry, I don’t mind. Like I said m, the character id like to play (this one) has nothing of bard in it. That’s probably an idea for a different game. And about the goblin, I have no weight on the decision - it’s about you and the GM only. I just think that that are enough opportunities to play goblins in other APs, and an immense variety of races to play in RotR. As in, we’d have no reason to be “pushing” so much to get something to work.
To be honest, it'd be cool if we decide to enforce one of the sides of the gestalt to be like "bard" for example :) It wouldn't work for my Shadoo, but I'd gladly put something else together. I always loved the idea of having a party that is also... A rock band of bards! Lol
@Biggs/rorek: honestly, I don't really like the idea of a goblin in the party in this AP. I have not a say in it and don't want to discourage you, so do your thing - I'm just giving my two cents.
Archlich here with my grappler! All the love and hugs for my GM Anthorg, hehe. Working on the backstory for him right now. If anyone already has pieces of their backstory too, I'd be happy to mix them.
If I may give my two cents (and my apologies for it), I don't really think this is the right AP to play a goblin, hobgoblin or orc type of dude (especially a goblin, I'd say).
Shadoo runs immediately towards Sharrak - not only to engage the dangerous enemy, but also, in case yet another enemy was to try to take advantage of it and attack the two-headed winged kobold, to try to prevent the enemy from killing it.
Rather than trying to immediately damage the enemy, the Dragonborn targets its wings - trying to hurt it in such way that prevents it from flying in case it's capable of it.
Shadoo hides in the bushes near the archers, ready to engage the two-headed kobold. The dragonborn is using his melee weapons, but he prepares himself to throw javelins if needed.
I like the idea of coming at location 2, ambush the guards at location 3 and go release the owlbear at location 4. Would it be possible for one of us to sneak past the guards directly from 2 to 4 to release the owlbear?
Or maybe we should simply go directly where he was going to. At very minimum is simply a new escape exit - and, at worse, an entire second encampment. - said the Dragonborn - I think that's where we should start, and from there get back here later.
Our mission seems clearly outlined in front of us. - finally says the Dragonborn - And it's about time we get to visit my lowly cousins, and their winged sorceress.
I continued the action because I was under the impression we weren't altogether already. Glad we are and can continue - please pretend that action I narrated already happen and we're now back at the cave.
Shadoo gets closer to Sashah and Clyde, before speaking.
Glad to see you're up again. - he starts - It seems this cave leads down to the bandit's long boat below. Once our business here is solved, maybe we could use it to flee.
He pulls his sword, looking at the way the entered from.
I need to return to go help the others. Clyde can probably update you on our... Kobold problem, as he mentioned. - he smiled - I will see if I can reach Ragnar... Ideas are welcome!
Sorry! Busy days here at work. I can't see the map, though - not sure I'm looking at the right place. I'd like to move Shadoo to try to move and help with Sashah - or, if Clyde already managed to get him to safety, Ragnar
Shadoo muttered a quick prayer for the lost life, but didn't spend much time at all. He shook his head in agreement with the others, but seemed genuinely concerned about the movements on the camp.
I will stay ready to engage if they move on our guys.
Shadoo dodges the arrow by a thin chance, and turns his draconic body with doubtful grace - clearly being caught by surprise. Yet, the paladin charges the enemy, pulling his shining blade on a movement of swing against him. Sometimes you have to act; especially when something bigger is at risk.
Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14Not sure if charge adds anything on D&D 5E, like the +2 of Pathfinder Damage:1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
I'd like to stay behind, as I think that if any bandit already investigated or heard about our group somehow (especially after the prison bit) then it'd be hard to believe a paladin would want to join them. I'd like to be with someone staying behind as well, but I don't believe I'm good at hiding - so probably I wouldn't be able to stay as close as Rath wants to be :X
Are there anything on the arrows that actually identify them as belonging to the other group? Otherwise, the ruse would need a little more to be any effective. - says Shadoo, clearly liking the idea, but considering its flaws.
I am in agreement with the plan. - said the Paladin - Whoever does the reconnaissance, though, it has to be fairly swift, if we want to have time and a chance to try to approach this bandit leader and infiltrate his band.
He looks around.
Unfortunately I don't think I'm quite suited for the stealthy side of our plan, and I believe that if they somehow know about us, then they'd have a hard time believing I'd join them either.
Shadoo is a Paladin. I'm giving him some rationale as to why he'd agree with a plan that involves basically trickery and allowing a slaughter to happen. As much as some people simply want to move despite what their characters are, some of us still stop to think in terms of role-playing if it'd make sense (so, believe it or not, some characters aren't in fact just piles of numbers put together!).
With that said, I do agree we're slow, and I take responsibility in part for not quite keeping up with the post rate. If people prefer - and considering my lack of knowledge in 5E - I can step out.
As unfortunate as the loss of lives may be, we have a righteous path that needs to be walked, and sacrifices are necessary according to the will of Tyr. - said the Paladin, finally - Our bravery doesn't have to be measured with stupidity - in other words, fighting an unfair battle wouldn't do us any good. So, our plan seems to be the one that, despite its trickery, evens more the battlefield.
He gestured slowly, but decidedly.
We could try to intervene at the fight at the exactly moment one of the groups take the obvious advantage. We will surely manage to at least have some living members from the other group, which we can nurture into surviving for an interview once we conclude the battle. Rath, I'm not opposed to your idea of impersonating a kobold either - although we should leave it as a last resort.
Shadoo didn't care particularly for the extra gold. As they go back to talk to Braden, the dragonborn breathes deeply on the rain, feeling the cold on his own veins. He was happy to be on the heavy cold rain, but didn't express anything other than a quick smile to his companions. He stayed silent while Rath gave a quick report of findings.
Shadoo just kept cleaning his weapon and adjusting his armor, looking around to check if anyone needed help. The Dragonborn didn't particularly care at all for all the genital measurements contest going on, and didn't want to dignify it with his opinions.
I assume you all already made your peace. - the Paladin finally said, walking by loudly as he usually was - Our mission shall proceed with all of your strength.
He breathes hard, looking across his companions through a thin cloud of cold. His final words sounded humble, despite the size and appearance of the reptilian humanoid.
Is there such thing as an "attack of opportunity" in 5E?
Shadoo attacks the raging creature as it passes by him.
Attack (Longsword):1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14Not sure what to add for "advantage" Damage:1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4Using it one-handed because of my shield
The paladin forgets about the minotaur for a moment and turns his attention back to the fire. He then moves around searching for a bucket or something else to help him put out the fire.
Ok; I tried to move my character but couldn't (on the map). I will narrate here my actions, anyway.
Shadoo moves some steps ahed, and pulls the strength from his cold lungs. The paladin of Tyr didn't feel like he had time to wait - while Rath was right about they not being paid to deal with a prison escape, it didn't mean Shadoo's mission to deal with evil would be put aside.
The Dragonborn finally let out his breath weapon, hoping the cold could also deal with the fire - and that it'd be enough for the creature to fear him and his friends.
Breath Weapon (Cold):2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
Moving within 15 feet of the enemy and trying to position myself to get some of the fire as well, if possible.
The Paladin of Tyr commands you to surrender immediately! - he screams, completing his attempt to intimidate.
