I received the shipping notice today. Thank you for the assistance.

Lantern Lodge

I recently purchased a Ranger Class Deck and it is missing the following cards:

Character: Harsk (Role and Token are present)
Weapon: Humanbane Gladius +2
Spell: Forest Walk

Lantern Lodge

It has been almost a month since I posted this and there still hasn't been any updates on the status of this order. Is there any way I can get an update?

Hello Sgmendez,

The other 2 are on a pick list right now, which means they are part of the batch of orders the warehouse is currently working on. So they will be on their way any time now.

Thank you for the update.

Hello, I am wondering what the status of an order and the expected shipping date will be?

I ordered all three of the PACG bundles together and have already received the Skull & Shackles bundle, but the Wrath and Mummy bundles still say pending. They both state that they should ship within 1 to 7 days of the order and it has been over 2 weeks since then.

I am just wondering when I should expect them.

You'll want to get a refund or exchange for you game from the retailer you purchased it from. They should have a system in place with their distributor for this kind of issue. If they are unable or unwilling to assist, please let us know at customer.service@paizo.com.

Thank you. The business is closing and they are not taking refunds or exchanges, so I will just send an email your guys way.

"These goggles function as sniper goggles, but the wearer gains the +2 circumstance bonus on each sneak attack when making a sneak attack at any range."

Emphasis mine. Since they function as Sniper Goggles, and Sniper Goggles only modify ranged sneak attacks. They only modify ranged sneak attacks. The only change is that they gain the +2 bonus on each sneak attack at any range as opposed to 30 ft. Now, I may be wrong, but melee is not range. Now there is a range for spells called touch, but the only time that ever appears is in spells, and really has no precedence on any other area of the game.

Lantern Lodge

It says in the blog that those that bought tickets get access, but what about if I bought a ticket and gave it to another cause I couldn't make it? Does this give me access or the person that I gave the ticket to access?

Lantern Lodge

I personally would like to see "houserules" that are really well thought out and easy to implement, like the Spell Point system that SGG has done. Other than that I would like to see more Bard Masterpieces and more support for Words of Power.

Interested in: Rangers or Wizards (I will let you pick)

It's also a standard action to use a wand (assuming you're able to in the first place) and a standard action to activate any command word items that don't specifically say they're free actions. Why? No idea.

Command word: Flame strike from wing of fire elemental command plus Shooting stars from a ring of shooting stars plus searing light from a Crown of blasting, plus teleport away with the boot of teleportation. If they were free action after doing all that I wouldn't have used any of my actions.

I see perfectly why activating most magic items is a standard action.

I totally understand it from a mechanical/game balance perspective, I just don't get it from an in-character perspective. If it's just a word, and speaking is a free action, why does it take the better part of six seconds to say? Especially since you can theoretically trigger it by accident if the command word is a common word?

I have always believed that things such as wands required somatic components as well. So you have to wave the wand around and utter the command word, then point it at the target. But that could just be because that is how wands are all handled in most media.

Gobo Horde, I'm guessing that a discussion in one of the PFS forums devolved (or evolved, if you prefer) into a rules question, so he took it here.

Starglim, I don't think it works at all. My understanding is that in order to get the extra attack, you have to actually be wielding another weapon in your off hand while taking the full attack action -- and you have to be holding it to wield it.

Think about every movie you've ever watched. This is a story-telling game, so rules are written in light of tropes, and can only be interpreted correctly in the same light. Drawing ammo for iterative ranged attacks is a free action in a sequential process; however, when fighting with two melee weapons (or throwing a weapon from each hand), you're doing it all at the same time, which is why you get an extra attack without being a better combatant.

Two-Weapon Fighting, pg. 202 wrote:
If you wield a second weapon in your off hand, you can get one extra attack per round with that weapon. You suffer a -6 penalty with your regular attack or attacks with your primary hand and a -10 penalty to the attack with your off hand when you fight this way.
Full Attack, pg. 187 wrote:
If you get more than one attack per round because your base attack bonus is high enough (see Base Attack Bonus in Chapter 3), because you fight with two weapons or a double weapon, or for some special reason, you must use a full-round action to get your additional attacks.

Then it would work if your off hand is an unarmed attack or a gauntlet type weapon right?

Heresy! The (real) Avengers are John Steed and either Cathy Gale or Emma Peel (or Venus Smith, if you insist - I try to forget Tara King).

I'll allow the New Avengers, but that's because I've always rather liked Joanna Lumley. (My wife feels much the same way about Gareth Hunt).

I must admit that when I noticed the sword cane in Ultimate Equipment the first image that came to mind was Steed's umbrella-work in the title sequence of the Avengers.

Your mixing your British TV with my American Comics. How dare you. LOL :)

I know it is to late to submit a character, but to help cover the arcane department I am submitting a second character.

He is a male halfing sorcerer with the Stormborn bloodline. I will get him up in a little bit with a background.

Uhhh, you're forgetting that the monk's bab = his class level when flurrying and that Paizo has stressed that they will NOT specifically invalidate core options. It's meant to emulate enhance one weapon. You want to enhance all your attacks? Well there's an item for that.

I dunno, the spell Constricting Coils invalidates the spell Hold Monster because it's gained at the exact same level, and has the exact same effect, same duration, same range, plus it also does outright damage.

Hold Monster is a worthless spell since Constricting Coils was been released.

True, it's the only thing I know of that invalidates a core option, but it still has happened.

The only class that it invalidates is the Sor/Wiz, none of the other 4 classes that get Hold Monster get Constricting Coils.

So yes it makes the Sor/Wiz's Hold Monster a poor choice, but for Bards, Inquisitors, Summoners, and Witches it is still a valid choice.

Lantern Lodge

So I was wondering if anyone has given any thought to using the race creation guide to create a monster leveling system.

The idea is that instead of gaining a level in a class you gain RP and can spend it on choices from the builder, you would also gain HD/BAB/etc. based off of your racial type. Ideally this would be used for creatures built with the race builder that are not necessarily humanoid or that don't lend themselves to traditional classes well.

What do you think would be a good amount of RP per level and what other rules would you think should be implemented with this kind of system?

Lantern Lodge

18/19/20. "Roll a (Fort/Ref/Will) Saving Throw" and you don't know why.

Lantern Lodge

Does it matter if the flyer is in color or b&w? My printer is monochrome so no color for me.

Lantern Lodge

Alkenstar, all the way. Whether it be a continuing of the web story or a completely new story.

Lantern Lodge

I would love to go to Haiku but Claimjumpers might be the better choice for size reasons. But if we can get Haiku, that is where my vote is.

Lantern Lodge

This is why I have thrown encumbrance rules out the window and just rule that you can carry stuff within reason. Clothing, wealth, and basic mundane equipment (Think the Pathfinder Kit) usually brings most characters into the Med range.

So NO, you can not carry that statue.

That would be great. I don't get to travel much so I want to make this occasion a fun one, besides PaizoCon of course.

OK, thanks for the info. I plan on being in Seattle at least Wednesday, if not sooner, so I will really want to attend the greet and eat. And I already have my Banquet Ticket.

Pffttt....Is there anything else????

I only ask cause I am curious. I will be spending almost all my time GMing there, working my 5 slots to the max.

Lantern Lodge

So I am planning on arriving in the Seattle area at least on the Wednesday before the Con and would like to go sight seeing, exploring, and have a great time. I have tried to convince a hand full of locals to attend the Con with me, but most are poor, busy, or to unreliable to go.

So I was wondering if anyone else on the boards is interested in a gathering of gamers who plan on arriving early or locals? A sort of meet and greet to explore the city and have fun while waiting for the Con to start on Friday.

Personally I want to go to Card Kingdom and Cafe Mox (At least on the 5th cause it looks like they are closed on the 4th) and probably will want to go to a few other places, like the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, and the Underground Tour.

Lantern Lodge

So I have never been to PaizoCon, or any other Con for that matter. But I will be attending this year.

My big question is, what exactly happens at PaizoCon besides PFS games? What kinds of booths, events, etc.?

OK, this is something I do not want to do, but I think I have to. I am doing a disservice to each of you making you wait on me to play this game, so I have decided that I am going to put the game on hiatus till I have more time to dedicate to it.

Now this doesn't mean the game is over, just that I don't think I can dedicate the time needed to the game at this point. I do have each of your email accounts so I can email each of you at a later date to continue the game if you wish to rejoin at that time.

Sorry for making you all wait.

According to the 3.5 Campaign Setting book it does.

It does indeed. I haven't read the 3.5 one in a while.

Lantern Lodge

I don't actually think it says that Alkenstar has clockwork stuff. But I believe it could be safe to assume that since they are the "steampunk" setting within Golarion that they would. It does mention somewhere that they have advanced technology and since magic doesn't really work there, clockwork could be a safe assumption.

Lantern Lodge

Just wanted to stop by and mention that there is already an RPG out there with the name Zodiac. It is much different than your concept (being that it is a Final Fantasy RPG) but I thought you should know so that there isn't confusion by the names.

Lantern Lodge

What I do is have each player draw 1 card at first level and each time they level up. They can use them at anytime by giving me a description of what they card does and giving me the card.

This way they feel special and allows them to have a direct effect on the outcome of some parts of the story, but in a very limited way.

Yeah, I already have an idea of where the game is going for some time now. It is just writing it out and posting it that gets me sometimes.

Also a friend, and the owner of my local gaming store, was moving his shop to a new location last week and I was helping out. It kind of took a lot of my time and I didn't get as much as I would like done, but at least I got to help out a friend.

If you would like to work on Erufu you can work with Cassian Vespertine, who has also shown interest in the area. As for the Ron Kingdom, it is primarily a jungle kingdom run by the Nagaji with the other major population being Wayang and Vishkanya, with a lesser number of Tengu and some wild elfs.

OK, take your time. I can describe things as the game goes forward and the player's need to know. I personally just like having world info to flesh out characters and to help give me a sense of global knowledge.

Lantern Lodge

If you want to expand on the kingdom then be my guest, but I wasn't planning on writing a book on the areas, just enough to get a sense of what it was like and who lived there.

Edit: Strike that, I already have some info on the Kingdom. So the city it is.

Think something like a cross between THIS and THIS with a more natural flair, it is located on the edge of a large forest and a large lake.

Being the capital city it has a large assortment of elven and kitsune goods (with the list of resources on the kingdom page being examples) as well as magical items that deal and interact with spirits.

Also to note is that being the largest city in the kingdom means that they also have a large airship dock and a train station that leads to the other two cities in the kingdom, Ling Do and Yui Ni.

So good luck.

Lantern Lodge

To my knowledge (and I haven't played or ran it, though do own all of it) its not that Ameiko is a DM PC, she is just a part of the caravan that the party is escorting. There are a few NPCs involved in the caravan and Jade Regent has rules for developing relationships with them (romantic, friendly, or rivalry) on your adventure over the Crown of the World and into the Dragon Empires.

So Jade Regent isn't so much an DE themed AP, more so a caravan traveling adventure path that deals with all sorts of encounters, mini plots, and themes. In the end the game focuses more on the events in the DE, where Ameiko could, key word could, take over the throne.

i do happen to think search should be removed from perception, and should be based on int rather than wisdom.

I think a lot of things should be removed from Perception. It is way too broad and covers too many issues that could be Wisdom, Intelligence or even Dexterity driven. I see your point about Search though. I think of Sherlock Holmes, was it Wisdom or Intelligence that gave him remarkable deductive powers? I would lean toward Intelligence. It was his great capacity to learn and use what he learned to help him solve crimes. Wisdom on the other hand is more the knowing right from wrong. Noticing a slight deviation in a book case that reveals a small switch underneath that happens to open a secret door has really nothing to do with right and wrong.

Later,

Mazra

First Perception is fine as is. Wether you are looking through someones pockets, looking looking at a wall for a trap, or looking down the river to see the boat coming, you are still looking. Perception is just 5 things:

Scent - Smelling Things
Sight - Seeing Things
Sound - Hearing Things
Taste - Tasting Things
Touch - Feeling Things
All which are the five major senses. Really non of which are based off of any form of ability score except maybe Constitution as that is your physical health. But for balance and the fact that Wisdom is supposed to be your mental health attribute (as seen with Will saves) I think that it works fine.

Now "Searching" as some may put it, is just Sight based perception along with Dexterity based manipulation and Intelligence based deduction, which can be represented with Sleight of Hand and Knowledge Skills, possibly even Appraise.

Sherlock Holmes would have had a large amount of his skills placed in Appraise, Knowledge Skills, Perception, and Sense Motive, with other skills being secondary skills. Those 4 (actually much more with the number of knowledge skills he had) would have made him the detective he was/is (since he didn't actually exist).

Probably, though they would look more at your performance rather than heritage. Since your not so much the King's Guard as you are the Kingdom Special Forces, think along the lines of a paramilitary group that acts for the country.

Lantern Lodge

For races you could also allow Hobgoblin since they are prevalent in the area. But as you stated maybe only as a special case since you want to focus on the 6 main.

Classes, even archetypes, really are just based off of character concept in my opinion. No matter what the archetype is called if the concept fits the Asian/DE theme you are going for then go for it.

I am coming from experience from a game (actually two groups) set in an Asian Steampunk world that I created. The two games can be found here and here if you want to see examples of characters and some story stuff, you can even check out the website that I have created to showcase the world.
