This is the alias for Browman's Incanter.

Still sorting out traits, languages and gear but the rest should be done. Is there a list of languages to pick from? I know 6 other than common.

Septimus prefers to dress in scholars robes and when traveling uses a spear as a walking stick and has a small backpack with essential gear including of course a notebook. There is a belt with a few pouches containing coins and snacks. Thinking is a hungry job, and Septimus is always thinking.

Septimus is slightly shorter than average with a thin but tough build. He has thin black hair that is naturally slightly curly. He is in his early twenties, but his hairline is already receding.

Septimus is smart, really smart and always thinking. But he isn't a very wise or charismatic man. Most of his knowledge comes from books and speaking to wise old scholars, his lack of "street smarts" often impacts the practicality of his ideas. He is a friendly man but not very good at talking to people and when he does he tends to ramble about something he has learned.

He is from a merchant family of Sal-port that had enough money to get by comfortably, but not of the upper class. He is good with sums, and would have greatly improved his family's business if he had joined it. But he was accepted into a center of learning instead; there he learned much both mundane and magical and has at least a passing knowledge of most academic subjects. Recently having completed his studies it was recommended to him that he spend some time away from the sheltered life of study and learn how the modern world works in practice instead of in books.

I am interested in having the party do a mix of things, not tied to one type of encounter.

A roleplay sample will be up later.

RP sample

A rather small man in his mid-twenties, who already has a receding hairline and is wearing scholars robes enters. The robes are old but in good condition; he also has a backpack on his back.

After the barkeep talks to him he sits down and pulls a notebook out of his backpack.

"Is this place always this busy? It seems like it would be more profitable if you were serving these people alcohol. I could do some numbers for you" As he starting writing in his notebook. "Perhaps in exchange for some lunch? I seem to always be hungry."

While waiting for an answer, Septimus continues taking notes in his book.

Male Human Incanter 3

Once the prisoners are secure, Septimus will begin collecting weapons and items from the slain.

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus will tie up the remaining elves so they are less of a threat.

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus will head back towards the fighting to see if any of the elves can be saved.

Heal check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus will move to O1 and channel energy again.

1d6 ⇒ 2 DC11

Male Human Incanter 3

did the elves by Septimus just stand there?

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus moves to M3 motioning for the elf near him to surrender.

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus moves to H6 then channels negative energy.

He should hit both the enlarged elves.

DC 11 will save for half damage. 1d6 ⇒ 6

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus fires his crossbow at the large elf closest to him, then keeps moving to E6.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 for 1d8 ⇒ 2 dmg

Male Human Incanter 3

Is the white space difficult terrain?

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus calls out a murderous command to the enlarged elf closer to him. Then reloads his crossbow.

Murderous command DC15

Male Human Incanter 3

Didn't Vada get a new weapon?

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus continues moving up on the left.

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus keeps heading left.

Double move to A13

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus moves up and left.

"try to keep one alive"

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus loads his crossbow then fires a shot.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 for 1d8 ⇒ 1 dmg
Miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 80

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus continues chasing the creature.

Double move for 30.

That translation was awesome

I'm actually perfectly willing to say that Donatello and Septimus grabbed crossbows already.

Excellent.

Male Human Incanter 3

Once he has stabilized the woman, Septimus joins in the pursuit of the coward who shot at them.

Septimus double moves towards the fleeing target.

Kal'Tos' ability to ignore difficult terrain would be super handy to have right now, or longstrider which he can cast.

Male Human Incanter 3

Would anyone object to Septimus claiming a crossbow after this combat?

Your post in the gameplay thread disappeared?

Male Human Incanter 3

Battle Bison to the rescue?

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus sees the lady drop with an arrow in her chest, he rushes over to see if she is still alive. he unstraps his heavy mace as he runs over. He is unable to see the enemy at this time.

Heal check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Male Human Incanter 3

Sandra and the goblin are both at the beach already.

Male Human Incanter 3

Tomag is Vada purposely making himself scarce?

Male Human Incanter 3

"I will leave you for now Francis and let you get settled. I believe some of the council wish to address everyone after the evening meal."

Septimus will then look for Vallen. He waits quietly until Vallen is alone and approaches him.

"Vallen, I am the only one that is concerned by the arrival of these new colonists. They seem to lack any real organization, don't appear able to defend themselves, and most look like they are simply more mouths to feed. Hopefully I will be proved wrong and they begin to put what supplies they brought to use but I am not hopeful of that."

Francis Cullen raises a single eyebrow at Septimus's self-assessment, and then nods. "I wouldn't say I'm the leader. I give advice and help where I can. Some respect me for it. As I'm sure they respect your healing. I don't think there's any rush for me to meet the council yet. Right now, I just was thinking of finding a quiet place where I wouldn't be in anyone's way."

"That can be arranged. Do you require assistance with your belongings?"

Septimus will take Francis to Newspring and help him find a quiet spot to stay.

Male Human Incanter 3

What if we used half our new goods to start new gardens now (taking the conversion hit) then generated labour to use the rest over time? That would get us a bunch more food in the short term and shorten our timeline to use it all.

Male Human Incanter 3

Would it be better if we focused on generating labour to use those goods to build the gardens? Maybe we could even generate some labour at the meeting.

I think that's a fair claim too, considering Vallen would rather be at the forge.

And any other explanation might get awkward, considering that the rest of Septimus' skills relate to being super sneaky and tricky and possibly killing people.

Male Human Incanter 3

Could we go to 3/4 rations?

Also I think it is reasonable for Septimus to claim to be the local healer considering he spends almost every day making heal checks.

Male Human Incanter 3

"Septimus Gar, resident healer. If you are looking for someone with a formal leadership position, I am the wrong person. Though I can introduce you to the various council members currently here, if you wish. Are you the leader of these colonists? "

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus looks around to see who appear to be the leaders of these new colonists.

other than the new PCs, do these colonists have any formal leadership?

Male Human Incanter 3

"How many additional Colonists did you bring? What about tools, weapons, supplies and equipment?"

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus arrives at the beach faster than most, but isn't as easily seen as most, hiding himself where he could flank potential enemies.

Once it is clear that these are friendly people, he emerges from cover.

"i am named Septimus, resident healer of this small town."

Male Human Incanter 3

After treating Melilla, Septimus spends the rest of the day checking others for illness.

Heal Check take 10 for 17. Total of 8.9 gold of influence.

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus does what he can to treat Melilla .

Heal check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

"good morrow Melilla, I don't believe we have been formally introduced. I am Septimus, probably the primary healer of our small town. If you will let me, I will do what I can for your infection."

Septimus needs a second one as well.

Male Human Incanter 3

The work of one skilled in healing never seems to end in Newspring, particularly with nopostitis now effecting several people.

Take 10 on heal check for a total of 1.7 gold today. In total 7.2 gold of influence raised.

Septimus Spends the day monitoring for signs of nopostitis spreading.

take 10 on heal check for 1.7 gold of influence giving him a total of 3.8 gold towards influence.

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus spends the day looking for signs of nopostitice among other members of the community.

Take 10 on heal check for 17. Giving him a total of 2.1 gold of influence.

Male Human Incanter 3

Seeing the other healers already there, Septimus does what he can to assist.

Aid vallen's heal 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Male Human Incanter 3

Never really got into Ravenloft and don't have 5e, so I don't think I will join your other campaign.

Also regardless of the status of the two players I think Hassan should survive, he was an important NPC before Gair took him as a 2PC. Losing him would be really bad.

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus will claim the other hide shirt then.

Male Human Incanter 3

What are the stats on a hide shirt? I can't find them in my files. Septimus will definitely be claiming some kind of armour.

Also Nerk have you heard anything from either of our missing players.

Male Human Incanter 3

Septimus could definitely use some armour.

and yes septimus made the transition to cleric specializing in luck and trickery

Male Human Incanter 3

Are we going to need a more permanent solution to Ingwe being a huge pain every time we meet?
