I take some time to sort and repack the things that I grabbed during our flight from the prison. Although exhilerated to see sky and feel the sun again, I am also edgy...constantly jumping at the sounds that suddenly seem too loud.

I use 2 healing surges to take me to full.

I am all for running the hour, resting for a few minutes and then walking more if no one is actively trying to kill us.

Can I be all nature-y and try to find the best path for a large group to keep moving smoothly?

If we think we can run to cover and rest up for a few minutes to give everyone time to heal, I think that is our best bet. If we Push ourselves and people fail, we'll be running out of healing surges and I would rather start at full health and hopefully not need them until we get far enough away to completely recharge.

I would also make sure that Thanis makes it down with Corin before leaving the area. He stuck with us during the fight and is helping another, so he's a good guy in my book.

Does having another group heading SE make the Talenta Plains less appealing? Savi has been in the Plains before and wouldn't be afraid to go back...she might actually know some places. I just wonder if we don't want to split off and go somewhere else...if south seems natural, maybe north or west are better choices?

Absolutely, I would use the shield to protect Alester as he's leaving. I stood just where I stood to be within range to trigger the shield, so we're good.

As soon as Orla lands I would assist in whatever she needs to bring Zvia back to consciousness.

Alester:
I cannot save you the 9 damage. I'd already used that power and I can only do it once per round. The skeleton got to take its turn before my refresh. This turn I can.

I hear the sound. It sends a shiver down my spine and before I even think about anything, I give the full weight of Aeb to Gossen, turn and run towards the rope.

Everything speeds up and slows down...As I run, I see Orla's face go ashen and her grip change on the rope as she looks down on Zvia. Then I feel that almost imperceptible tug of my shield reminding me not to move too far. And then Zvia is at my feet...I gently tug her arm so that it bends in the right direction.

DM:
I didn't actually run. It just sounded better. I double moved to L17. The Skeleton Warrior is just within 10, so it will depend on his next move whether or not I can shield anyone from his hit.

I tell Gossin to keep moving and that I will do my best to shield him from the warrior. I keep pushing us to move, putting all of my energy into getting them through the gate and out of the way.

I continue to urge everyone to leave quickly before our exit is blocked by reinforcements. I see Gossen struggling under the weight of the unconscious prisoner and becoming paler with each step. I sprint back through the doorway to take half of his burden and encourage him to keep moving.

Before we continue, I adjust a few things to stabalize the fallen prisoner. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

We have moments only, my friends! If we must fight, it would be best on the other side of that door!

As much as I want to stay and figure out what happened, the resounding crack of the front gate is like music and I throw myself into clearing the way, regardless of necrotic explosions. Lightning arcs from my sword to A3 and then bounces to A2. Ozone sizzles in the air.

@DM - Although Orla is more important to me, I can see that Haas is taking point and I would have used my shield on him. He takes no damage.

Before I begin moving again, I gesture to the 3rd archer and then I am on my feet. I run up to my comrades behind the rubble wall and speak with them for a moment before stepping out enough (Q5) to go after the archer on the ground (A1).

Didn't your mother ever tell you that it is impolite to block your guests from the exit?

I can't protect Orla from the 3. That was from the burst and since the attack was also on me, my shield would not work.

I was leaning heavily on the wall for support but feel a warmth spreading and strength returning to my limbs. My feeling of well-being is short-lived when I hear the big boney guy's message. I scan the courtyard quickly.

We need to get out of here fast. I think we should focus on moving toward that exit. It will take us too long to kill all of the archers and we're losing people the longer we stay here.

I would use the shield for Orla for certain.

Seeing what a difference it makes when many attack one, I refocus on Archer 6, trying to bring it down.

DM, I had Aegis of Shielding on Archer 5. I don't know if he hit anyone (besides me), but if he did, I would have invoked it and reduced the damage by 9. You have it listed in your description so my guess is he is the one that shot me. I just wanted to be sure.

I see the archer closing with Orla and shift closer (S18) before gesturing in its direction.

Green eyes flashing and red-gold hair dancing, I bare my teeth in a feral grin from the pure excitement of a freedom which seems but minutes away. The battle-lust of my comrades is infectious.

I am the color of cinnamon with hair that looks like dancing flame. I have a sword that behaves as if it is a part of me and a penchant for jumping in both feet first. And I want out of here. I have things to do.

I move into the middle of the little group and face Orla, with a concerned expression on my face. Orla, are you sure that you want to do that? This is what they do... I wrap my knuckles gently against one of the fighter's armored chest plates, trying to emphasize their level of protection.

Turning to the rest of the group... We might not want to line the stairs, but rather go in two waves once we know we're clear to keep moving. At the same time, we need to watch our backs since the boneguards could come from other parts of the prison behind us.

We did not completely finish divvying up on the discussion page. I suggest that we give the poultices to Orla. She can always hand them out before we rest. Does anyone want to take the Alchemist's Spark flasks? Maybe Zvia since she will often fight from a distance and can throw them? Cog and Alester should take the +1 amulet or last dragonshard. I will carry the pouch of cash (which we can worry about later).

I quickly dig through the piles, throwing "useless" things carelessly behind me, oohing and aahing over shiny things. I spot a decent looking leather armor and quickly strap it over my prison garb while throwing stuff into an empty backpack.

Anyone find it weird that this stuff is just...here? It seems odd to keep everything shoved into wardrobes one staircase away from prisoners. I feel my bravado coming back. They obviously didn't realize who they were dealing with.

I sigh with relief as my shackles are unlocked, ruthlessly kicking them into the corner under the desk.

Sharn, Fairhaven, Gatherhold...doesn't matter. They are not HERE. I say we get out of here and then worry over which path is clearest. We may find that we have little choice about where we run.

Orla, the DM will email you with suggestions on what to take. We have an account with D&D and can search the entire Compendium for options.

I am picking up lvl 5 leather armor (+1 Doppleganger).

I think that we should select some basic necessities to use the 200gp. The standard Adventurer's Kit (15gp) contains a backpack, bedroll, rope, food, water, light sources, etc. We can "buy" more of those items individually (light sources, extra bags, rope).

We might also need to consider ammo:
arrows (30) - 1gp
bolts (20) - 1gp
sling bullets (20) - 1gp

We might also have people that need a holy symbol (10gp), arcane implement (5gp-15gp), spellbook (50gp), ritual book (50gp) or thieve's tools which give a bonus to a lockpick attempt (20gp).

I would like an Adventurer's kit (15gp) but if we need to use more money for other things, then a backpack, rope, sunrods and waterskin (8gp).

I am also taking armor as my special item and have a better weapon than many so we might want the amulet to go to someone having to choose a weapon over armor????

If they didn't charge in here, they either think we couldn't possibly have won or they may be laying in wait up ahead. We can take a few moments to patch up (I say as I pick bone shards out of my arms) but then I agree with Thringorn that we need to keep moving.

That said, did anyone see if one of these bones piles was carrying keys? (I jingle my shackles.)

I am also curious if there is anything useful around.
I start rifling through the wardrobes.

Sadly, I am getting used to the feeling of shards of bone embedding themselves into my already riddled flesh and I simply shrug it off. I complete a pattern with my hands and a surge of energy skates down my blade.

Something is wrong with these stones. Do you see these holes in the workings of the stairs? Nothing good will come out of this. Move quickly before they are sprung!

Okay, so I didn't read my note before I initially posted so it seems weird that I tell everyone else to run up the stairs and then I stop. Savi would have warned everyone. It is your choice if you rush past me or down.

I carefully climb the stairs, trying to ready myself for the coming attacks (and wishing I had my armor). I stop (S2) and lean as far back against the wall as possible and focus on the first skeletons I can see.

I really want out of these cuffs, but I think that we need to get out of here before anyone else comes down to check on us or the tardy guards.

I remember coming in that way (I point to the exit heading up.)...shall we make a run for it? The more of us, the more likely we can overpower anyone else we meet. Once we're outside of these walls we should break into groups and spread out.

As I walk forward, I pull out my sword.

Thringorn, don't resist when you feel the tug. If this works, I am going to bring Mr. Boney in here. I look to the others around me. I am going to need some help over here in just a moment!

A shot lightning flashes out from my blade towards S1 but arcs wildly and sizzles into the wall in the hallway.

Move to I12 and Lightning Lure on S1 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 vs Fort Excellent start! Perhaps I should stab myself next time.

Stupid room! I shake my sword in frustration. Looks like we're going to have to do this the old fashioned way.

I am working on my post, but I need to change something I'd written before. Instead of pulling the Skeletons in here, we may want to push them out. We'll fight much better out of this room. I doubt that the damage reduction affects the skeletons. We're not going to get very far with a constant -10. So maybe, push into the hall?

I would pull and dump the guy into the room as fast as you can. We need these skellies to join us without sounding an alarm or running for reinforcements (if possible). And we need to keep our exit open...maybe? I don't know. This is my first prison break.

I believe Jessica and Robert. I'm particularly disappointed to see Frog God Games' joking response on Facebook to Bill's conduct. I think an apology and owning what happened would be the honourable response, not attempts at humour. I have cancelled my Rappan Athuk maps Kickstarter pledge and won't be supporting FGG or Paizo going forward unless things change, and change drastically. Fast.
