"If we do send a probe through we should be careful to have two fail safes. One if it does not receive orders from us from an extended period it should attempt to return... that will likely destroy it. If that fails or it reaches another deadline it should purge memory banks and then self destruct. The problem is with the time distortion how long to tell it to wait would be tricky."

"Those areas are outside my area of expertise however I do have a few preparations we could make to prepare for if we have to have any face to face interactions. The easy part would be fabricating some vulcan clothing and uniforms from the time. For some of us I believe mild cosmetic surgery could help us pass superficially as Vulcans though it would be more of an involved process for certain species. I would hope we wouldn't have to avail of that option but I could alert the quartermaster and sickbay to make preparations."

"Captain might I suggest Commander th'Chiaqis be our liason with them if we establish visual communication. Like the survivor on the planet they may think someone seeming to be human could be a Romulan ploy... An Andoran on a design of ship they aren't familiar with may seem more plausible."
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
"Would it be possible for us to modify a photon torpedo or probe. Release a lower yield shockwave of energy or material. Activate it further in than the shuttle to push them towards the edge. Once they get out so far we might be able to activate the tractor beam at a safe distance?"

Gareb starts to come around thanks to the Doctor. Shakily getting to his feet he moves to the sensor station. "Lets try something less elegant this time..." Scan for Weakness. Piercing 2 for attacks this round, shifting two successes for momentum
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
"It seems likely they're a warp capable race seeing as the planet is unknown to them. There might still be survivors Captain though they might be well settled in by now if they are alive." Kerensky thinks for a moment. "There may be an unknown spacial hazard they ran afoul of. I suggest we change to yellow alert."
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
"Captain Purahk a moment. You have been honourable and reasonable in your dealings with us. I would hope you would not deny Captain Reeves the opportunity to act in kind. If we can repair our ship perhaps we could tow you with a tractor beam to where you can undergo repairs."
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
"No harm done just Klingon scientific curiousity. The structural integrity as expected is extremely advanced." Kerensky says to the onlookers mesmerized by the monolith. "Perhaps ye can bring us up to speed with your own observations." "We're not here long before you but these others might not appreciate you shooting the monolith. A little time might garner us some valuable if dubious observations and we can proceed from there."
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
Kerensky moves a bit closer to the Klingon arrivals "The others not from our ship were drawn here and are under the sway of this structure. They will defend themselves with lethal force-" Suspecting that might mean less to a Klingon he held up his hand "But they are being influenced. Whatever is doing it may defend them. Such powerful technology may have targeted them." "Capturing or executing them for resisting may be permisable by your laws however it would seem to me that it might be more impressive if you could a way to free potentially loyal warriors of the Klingon Empire from the sway of an unknown force."
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
"If you find yourself so easily whisked away, I would not think it wise to raise your voice." Kerensky's voice was firm as he put his hands on his hips, near where he had the klingon disruptor concealed. It would be a foolish risk to his superiors to think he could out shoot the three of them tense as they were. "But as you can see the situation is complicated. You are not the first Klingon crew to be brought here and we are not the first Federation crew to be brought here." He gestured with one of his hands towards those assembled before the monolith. He did his best to make it clear he would not be browbeat by them. "If you want to shoot you're weapons I'm sure we can find something to hunt so you can contribute. If however you'd like to talk and discover more first you can comport yourself like seasoned warriors able to adapt to a changing situation rather than a group of senile targs... then you can lower those weapons." He had heard a nausicaan in a neutral port impress a few Klingons with a similar speech and hoped he could pull it off convincingly. Presence+Command 12. Cultural Studies Focus: 2d20 ⇒ (1, 12) = 13

Lieutenant found the distraction exhibited by them and lack of identification deeply concerning. The look he gave Commander th'Chiaqis while the Starfleet Officers before them were distract should convey this but he let his superior take the lead only asking a single question. "What about your ship?"
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
"Information and co operation might be key to figuring out what is going on here." Samuel ranges ahead of the rest of the group. He's not trying to sneak up on them but is mindful of being near cover in case they become aggressive. He's more concerned about how his behaviour might change in proximity to the monolith... better him though than the senior officers.

Reason and Science 10: 2d20 ⇒ (12, 1) = 13 Linguistics focus so two successes. DN 1 or 2 I'm not sure since it's just the one glyph "Yes I think emergency supplies is the closest translation I can think of." Once they start to approach the monolith he comments "It could be that the monolith is affecting them somehow. I'm dubious about that but proximity may have an affect. It might be best for someone to range a little ahead of our group just to be safe. I'd be willing to do so and leave the disruptor with someone else for now in case something influences me." "Still we've got humans and klingons, vulcans and romulans interacting without a fight... things are looking up."
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
Enterprise's comms officer picked up a good bit. Kerensky has Linguistics as a focus, that and being a tactical officer he might have done his best to learn some... maybe not fluent but maybe very broken? Reason+Security 12: 2d20 ⇒ (17, 8) = 25 "Definitely a disruptor, I'm not sure if it's trapped. Now don't expect me to engage in what passes for Klingon ettiquette but that glyph I think represents something like crisis or dilemma. Given the contents it could be emergency supplies?"

Fitness+Engineering 12: 2d20 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 One Momentum and then... spends it Kerensky does his best to repair some of the wiring that shorted out during the turbulence. Removing the panels and carefully getting in position. Kerensky realizes the beam is both a scanner and a disabling mechanism. He considers how to counter it. He sends a signal on what he believes to be the correct frequency back down the beam of light.
"This removes the immediate danger caused by the beam’s disabling of the ship, although the Valiant is still disabled slightly." Kerensky's head and shoulders poke out of the scorched conduit as he starts to move out. "Has the beam changed? I saw indications it was doubling as a scanner and a disabling device, I think I might have turned it off or at least some of it's functions."
Male Lt. Junior Grade. Stress 12/18
"These signals might be a lure or some kind of warning. Bait or a lighthouse of a sort. I'll run over scenarios with my people. Hopefully there's a scientific explanation behind this but in case there's malicious intent I'd like to request one last set of low level diagnostics of the shields and weapon systems."
