Female Samsaran Monk

Rema looks hopefully at Jenya.
"Oh how I wish that were possible. Perhaps if we had enough allies on our side we could accomplish such a feat. Mal'c is working on a plan to retrieve items from the sealed areas - the treasury and the archives - I do not know what he has come up with, but I am sure he would welcome help."

Female Samsaran Monk

Looking toward Tamayra, Jenya, and Rheynold.

"As interested as I am in seeing more of this creation you have brought with you, it seems your friends have an important message to send."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema nods with deference toward Tamayra, Jenya, and Rheynold. She does her best to stay composed, but the news of recent events soon gets the best of her. Meanwhile, Peter seems entirely distracted by the blackened drake who has perched himself on one of the other braziers nearby.

"Well met. I am glad to stand with any that stand with those like Aak. In times like these we will need one another. Looking around. Though repairs have begun, I am afraid they may not be enough. Just days ago we received word that Tolin, one of the cultist's leaders if you recall, not only stormed the monastery, but killed the revered leader of the monastery Master Toe'n. The monastery has been captured by the cultists, I fear even now they attempt to break into the sealed areas - the treasury, the archives. Mal'c will be greatly encouraged to learn of your return and the new allies you have brought with you."

Female Samsaran Monk

Through an increasing amount of tears, Rema struggles to speak.
"We.. I was sure you were.. You're not.. I can't belive it's you."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema nods, "If Voz trusts you, I do. Welcome. We can use all the help we can get. Turning toward Triela, Now, if my lady might speak with the guards we can find someplace more inviting to speak."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema smiles, "Thank you Aak. I feel much better now. Should we head out now?"

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema shakes her head, trying to steady herself as she gets up from the stool. "I'll be fine. If everyone wishes to move we can head out as soon as you like. We'll have to move fast to make it to our destination by night fall."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema sits on a small stool in Davy's cabin, mediating. As her hands glow you can see her wounds beginning to mend a bit. Looking up, she is still scratched and a bit bloody, but seems much better. "Is anyone else injured?"

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema nods, "I'll be ok for now. Let us get some distance from the creature and then we can stop."

The hunter nods in agreement, "I'm afraid I must have stumbled upon it's den. It's best we move along. I can show you all the best way ahead. You're all welcome to recover at my home, as small as it is it's far from the main road."

Assuming everyone agrees to move on, we can continue out of combat.

Female Samsaran Monk

The bear shakes off the stun, seeing Rema the only one near it lashes out (2 claws, 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18, 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26, confirm crit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22. Dmg: 1d4 + 3 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 12 = 16).

Bloodied from the gash, Rema steps away slowly before moving toward the trail (double move).

"I'll be ok, keep moving" Rema shouts as she wipes blood from her eyes.

Seeing Rema come into the opening, Silx quickly joins the group. He digs up a bit of the trail and places a contraption of some sort in the shallow whole before quickly covering it with gravel.

Round Two: Triela and Hunter, now acting.

The hunter moves further away, then readies his bow.

Hidden:
Int track: Bear, Aak, Silx, Rema, Triela, Hunter. Rema HP: 6/22.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema nods in agreement, "Unless the villagers heed the authority of a noble looking at Treila, I agree, the path seems to be the best option."

Unless someone wants to make some survival rolls to search out another path, I'm going to assume the group will follow the trail. I'll give Treila some time to chime in and post again tomorrow.

Female Samsaran Monk

After making her offer of supplies, Sena approaches Rema with a sealed parchment.

Perception>19:
You recognize the seal upon the letter as a symbol used at the near by monastery.

Rema quickly opens the parchment, reading it just as fast. A look of concern covers her face as she approaches Caylen, who is busy with preparations.

Perception>14:
Rema shows Caylen the letter, "I think you should see this." Glancing over the letter, Caylen looks troubled.

Perception>17:
Caylen turns to Rema and whispers, "I don't want to go, but I know I should."

Rema nods as Caylen returns the parchment and continues about her preparations. She looks worried.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema nods, "Well said. Let us hope the cult's influence has not penetrated the city. checking through her item, For myself, I am ready to head out."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema smiles, "Such assistance would be very much appreciated. Let us hope everyone can gain from reestablishing the temple."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema calmly stands beside Aak and Basaik as they speak. After mentioning Grishnodnok, Basaik turns to Rema, "The news is better than your message indicated."

Nodding, Rema voices her joy "Finding the temple has been much more than I expected. Handing over a few sheets of parchment she continues, and the surprises didn't not end with finding it."

As Basaik reads over the letter and studies the old sheet of parchment his eyes grow wide, "This is better than I imagined. With this letter and title you have truly established a foothold in the region. Looking toward Triela, and with Lady Devilbane's help you may even be able to expedite the recognition of the transfer of the temple."

Rema gladly shares the parchment with Triela and explains the situation (see here) and the discussion posts on Kingdom building.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema looks toward Triela while motioning toward Caylen, Aak, and Silx, "The others have had more direct dealings with the cultists, as have the monks who call monastery where we all met home. However, on our way here we recovered some of their literature."

Although Rema does not have a copy, someone in the group can easily retrieve a pamphlet for Triela.

Essentially, the cult is attempting to run off / scare all non humans in the region. They blame the recent troubles in the region on the presence of non human races.

Female Samsaran Monk

Greatly relieved with what Durra has learned from Thistle, Rema exhales deeply. She sits down near Caylen on the temple steps. From within the folds of her robe she retrieves a small item. Smiling broadly, she rest's the small bird in her open palm.

"I wonder how surprised Basaik will be when he hears that we've not only found the temple, but that we've been charged by it's guardians to restore it." As she begins to lift her hand slightly, the small bird take's flight, heading to the north east. After cresting the first peak, it is quickly out of view.

Female Samsaran Monk

Though Rema still seems mystified by the eagle's presence, it's clear she is noticing something in the distance. She looks toward each of you, as if looking to confirm what she is seeing.

"Do any of you see that?"

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema smiles at Triela and begins to respond, "With us being given charge of this temple and the surrounding.. as she is speaking the eagle swoops down from atop the temple.

The creature stands about as tall as Aak, it's wing span larger than any bird any of you have seen so close.

"Such matters can wait. For now, the grounds are clear. It would be best if you not tempt the harpies by remaining out in the open. I will remain on watch during the coming night. I will explain more come sunrise. Though the bird looks ready to fly back to it's perch it pauses - anticipating questions from each of you.

Rema looks on, having completely forgotten what she was in the midst of saying.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema nods at Silx, "He sure was. Thankfully he wasn't able to escape. Looking toward the mountain peak Though I find it troubling that that harpy seemed to be helping him. I wonder what that was about? Turning to Aak, Shall we take him back into the temple once he's bound? I'd like to examine the scrolls and volumes we found Turning to Triela, and I'd like to find out more about why you've sought us out?

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema gives a curious look. "You mean to say that your a member of one of the twelve royal families? I did not spend much time in Shinmish after I arrived at the port by boat. There is no equivilant name of my home in the language we are speaking. Suffice it to say I have traveled very far. I'm afraid I did not have a chance to meet with all of the royals. Rema makes a deep bow, It is an honor my lady."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema slowly makes her way back, slightly favoring her left leg. "I'm not sure what that was, but hope that thing stays far away from here."

Female Samsaran Monk

(Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10.) Noticing the blisters covering Silx hand, Rema tries move toward him to ease his pain. The change in her surroundings is to much for her to bear as she stands shaken near Silx.

Female Samsaran Monk

Seeing Silx locked in combat with the cultist Rema closes distance and attempts to stun the attacker while flanking him with Silx (1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 2 = 9), her punch fails to connect.

Female Samsaran Monk

Seeing Triela head toward Aak, Rema makes her way around rhe villagers to help Silx, once he appears. (Double move.)

Female Samsaran Monk

Seeing that many of the villagers are to fearful to attack, Rema moves to help Triela and Peter with the villager that is attacking.

After moving into a flanking position, Rema attempts another stunning fist attack (1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 2 = 15, Dmg (non-lethal: 1d6 ⇒ 5). Although the villager shakes off the stun, the punch nearly knocks them out.

Round Two: Triela, Aak, and Rema actions complete (moving?); Caylen and Silx now acting.

Hidden:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18, Villager(P): 1/6 hp

Female Samsaran Monk

The villagers have not been harmed. The orcs have taken 1d3 ⇒ 2 non-lethal damage each.

Rema follows her warning with a stunning fist 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 attack against one of the villagers, which misses.

Female Samsaran Monk

Silx:
As you reach the target you realize that he has not remained where he was. He must be someplace inside the mist that he has created.

Aak:
As you survey the surrounding area you notice a warrior moving through the mob, greatsword in hand. Though he has managed to keep the villagers from fleeing, the orcs clearly have the upper hand. Meanwhile the figure in the rear is hidden by the mist he has created. The harpy and eagle remain locked in arial combat.

Rema quickly positions herself to help reinforce the orcs, beseeching the orcs to show mercy. "Show these few mercy and you may make allies of enemies."

Female Samsaran Monk

Awesome stuff all. Going to do Rema's entry and then I want to give Aak some time to catch up before we continue with combat.

Rema looks on in awe as The Valiant fades away. "The dreams are true. she whispers to herself. Before she can say more the eagle warns of the battle above. Looking around in confusion Rema follows behind Caylen.

Outside Rema quietly gathers herself at the temple steps as it becomes clear that peace will not prevail.

Triela:
You've heard rumor of cultists gathering in the rural areas, but there has been little proof of their presence among port city. Apparently the rumors were true.

Female Samsaran Monk

At the initial appearance of the figure.

Rema gasps and averts her eyes at the initial appearance of the figure. She is clearly listening to what is being said, but continues to look at the ground.

Once the group returns to the Inner Temple.

Rema kneels reverently as the figure speaks of the coming guardian. She closes her eyes as the light brightens.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema moves to flank the zombie near Aak, attacking as quickly as she can (1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 1 = 16). Her swing glances off the zombie.

Round Six: Caylen now acting
Round Seven Aak and Silx now acting

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema quickly attacks one of the zombies that has moved to flank Caylen (1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19; Dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3, 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 = 23; Dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3). Though her fists aren't very effective against the zombie, the second blow manages to knock it to the ground for good. (Two zombies remain standing, both have been worn down by the fight.)

Groshnodnok howls in range as the last skeleton rises from the ground. Though the large half-orc continues to fight it, the surrounding orcs seem to have lost heart.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema steadies herself quickly and lashes out with a flurry of blows toward the zombie that attacked her (1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5, 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7), but fails again to penetrate through the zombie's armor.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema lashes out with a flurry of blows at the zombie near her (1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11, 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6), but fails to penetrate through the zombie's armor.

Female Samsaran Monk

Aak's strike clearly connects, though Silx's misses. All four of the zombies are covered in the full force of the flames that emerge from Caylen.

Rema lashes out with a punch (1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7), but is clearly too disturbed to concentrate on her strike.

A look of fear spreads across Rema's face. She speaks slowly and quietly, "Beyond the doors.. it cannot be. They are dead.. The guardians attack those who would fight at their side?!?!" She manages to steady herself as she takes a step back, though she still looks deeply disturbed.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema eyes the sun as it makes its way across the sky. "Should we settle down for the day? Glancing skyward again. I'd hate to go back down there motioning toward the temple after sunset, but if we go in soon there may be enough light yet."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema tries her best to contain her laughter as she makes her way up the stairs, "Sacrilege has never amused me so." She winks at Shayne.

Female Samsaran Monk

Although the trap was triggered, only Silx was in danger. He easily avoided falling into the trap. I rolled ahead of time for you.

"It looks like we'll need some rope or or something to bridge the gap. Unless you all think we can jump over? Looking around at everyone. Or should we avoid this area?"

Female Samsaran Monk

In response to Caylen's question.
"There shouldn't be more than half a dozen. looking around the corridor, and I don't think we'll encounter any in this area of the temple."

While Silx is working on the device.
As Silx works on the trigger, the floor suddenly opens up, revealing a pit trap that goes from the western door to the the eastern door. The section of the hallway leading up to the split in the hallway remains safe. Silx easily grabs onto the door handle, balancing his weight by pushing his legs against the walls of the corridor.

Area 17

The area surrounded by dashes is the area of the pit trap.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema reaches toward the keyhole in the paining, her fingers make out the indentation of the keyhole, making it clear to everyone that the painted door is actually a real door.

"Did one of you still have the key that unlocked the manacles?" Rema looks toward SIlx and Aak.

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema heads out of the room to get a closer look at the large doors Aak mentioned. She kneels beside the pool to run her fingers along the letters carved into its side. (See here.)

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema shrugs. "I just can't remember. I'm sorry."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema smiles at Silx. "Thank you. She gives a puzzled look at the holy symbol Silx has recovered. That is important.. if only I could remember why."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema looks around after nodding at Caylen's suggestion, confused and a bit scared. "There are other rooms.. I just.. I can't remember where they are."

Female Samsaran Monk

Rema nods at Caylen and Aak. "I hope they do. Looking toward Shayne. As some of you have begun to suspect, one of my past lives was here. Gesturing to the temple structure. These past few hours while sleeping the nightmares came. These two cursed paladins are a few of the guardians that were taken by the traitor. If the nightmares are true, as I have seen here, there may be as many as six more guardians."

Silx:
The chest contains robes and a single holy symbol. The symbol matches though you have seen around the temple.

Female Samsaran Monk

Aak's swing connects with the zombie. The figure sways only slightly as it's eye sockets stare into oblivion.

Rema circles, maneuvering herself near the remaining zombie, leaving a flanking position open for Grishnodnok. She strikes out with a fist (1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16, Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 4). Though Rema's fist connects, her strike doesn't seem to do anything to the zombie.

Rema stands just the other side of the table, grief struck. "It is as I feared. They too were turned." With a sigh of resignation she follows Silx example, tossing a duo of shuriken at one of the zombies (1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17, 1d2 ⇒ 2; 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15, 1d2 ⇒ 2).

Though the shuriken hit their target, the zombie continues to slowly move.

"Together then." With a nod Rema opens the door.

Room 23

These chambers once belonged to the warriors, possibly paladins, of the temple. There are six beds with rotten sheets and pillows, some woodworm eaten tables and chairs, and a wooden chest. Standing on armor racks are four suits of chainmail, now rusted beyond repair. Three rusted longswords remain in a weapon stand. There are also two bodies on beds, both wearing chain armor.

As the group stands near the entry way of the door, the two bodies begin to rise. Seems quite clear that the group is expecting something.

Rema holds up a hand, signally as Aak makes his suggestion.

"There is no need to check. I know what lies beyond that door. Closing her eyes, a single tear rolls down Rema's face. Speaking calmly as she opens her eyes, We must go together."

Rema slowly begins walking down the hallway (toward room 23).

To the left of the short hallway is a closed door.
