Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Fate, sorry to hear about you computer...the once a week thing is just too hard to try and keep track of (character and checking the site) so I am going to bow out of this one.

Good luck with the game...hopefully at some point you can get this one back up and running.

What do you guys think of the lizardfolk druid? would fill the role as healer and secondary fighter pretty well. we can take our time getting a second member, if at all.

Once we start again, how do you all feel about a schedule of 3-4 posts a week minimum, with a daily post during combats?

Yep, sounds good...I can usually post 1/day except a little slower on weekends...

I think it is the feat intuitive defense...

Gordon, you are correct with your synopsis, I am the lone surviving member of the Lizardfolk, at least from a player perspective.

We are taking a month long break (in game only) while we meet a couple of new adventurers....I think we are okay with other types of players as long as they play well with us "less civilized" characters....

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Rsss'tak disappears into the swamps...returning only once per week for supplies and to share the company of the remaining group members he is quite solemn.

He says little of his time in the swamp other than to face his shame. After some time, he appears...astride a new Marsh Drake.
This one is young, with Red Frills along its neck. They don't seem as easy together, but the drake still seems to respond to his commands.

You find out that his new mount is named Essirin, meaning "Red Flame".

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

I think we need some type of healer, otherwise I think we can accomodate any other classes...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

I am willing to continue...the wait for a new mount is a bigger deal for me though....as you can imagine. Rsss'tak would probably disappear into the swamps for a while to try and capture and then train a new mount...I could see that taking easily a month...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Assumes he is healed to consciousness.
We should go back to the human town. I have no weapons and I have lost my Vorta...I have failed myself...
He says little for the time being. Being defeated and loosing Visssila is just too much for him at the moment. He refuses any offers at riding and states it is part of his dishonor that he must walk for 1 full cycle of the moon before he can ride again...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

That's fine with me....

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

The obvious thing is for us to finish retreating and get back to town. At that point those that can commit to posting on a regular basis should continue and those that can't should drop out so we can recruit a couple of new players.
I am willing to continue, but I must admit that the pace as slow as it has been is turning me off.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

yep, just waiting on the others to finish our fate...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Visssila charges the human, trying to protect Djat!
claw atk charge 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13 dam 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Fate and Fortune:

This might be stretching it a bit but Visssila is also protective of Djat. If she sees him in trouble him might move to protect him as I am out of immediate trouble.
She would probably move in to engage the man if you are okay with it, I would play it up a bit...let me know. It might at least give us another couple of rounds to hold on.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Con checks:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 vs. DC 15 (DC 10+5)
Stabilize in the first round.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

No worries, I was playing him like I thought he would act in this situation...he made a deal with the Fey and from what he can see it looks like it killed them....so he thought he would revenge their deaths... :)

Its fine if he dies...these things happen from time to time.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Visssila strikes to defend its master as per its last command!
bite atk flank 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8 dam 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
claw atk flank 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10 dam 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
claw atk flank 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 = 7 dam 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
lol's looks like party wipe was in the cards, nothing like none of us being able to hit and it hitting almost every time. Well, this kind of stuff can happen.
He would defend me to the end so he could cover the rest of you retreating for a round or two...it was fun while it lasted!

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Rsss'tak slides from his saddle after taking 20 points of damage and falls to the ground....

I guess I was a little over-confident of my AC at first level being 22... :)

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Rsss'tak attacks the creature with everything at his disposal, including his mount!
ride check for Visssila 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Great Stone Axe (BattleAxe) 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 26 dam 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 9
bite atk 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 dam 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
claw atk 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 dam 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
claw atk 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 dam 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Potential Crit, it it can be critted, x3
Great Stone Axe (BattleAxe) 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 15 dam 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 8 plus dam 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 11

Wow those are a lot of bad rolls...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Can someone do a knowledge check to see if we know anything about this creature? I don't have any skills in that does anyone else? It would be nice to know a little about what we are fighting.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Spoiler:

lots of bad checks :) sense motive 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Rsss'tak cares little for what the creature says, he knows this is the evil that the little fey spoke of, the evil that has probably killed them...
You will die today creature of evil, we will scourge your filth from this world! Issue challenge +1 damage.

Although he fears this beast, he doesn't show it as he charges the creature!

Charge to the creature and attack with lance.

lance atk challenge charge shaken 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 15 dam 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7 x2 damage for charge 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10

Bah, the dice are really suckin!

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Hmmm I thought I beat its initiative and would have gone before its action.....

Spoiler:

Willpower Save 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 1 - 2 = 11

Rsss’tak wrote:

not so good rolls....Visssila would be waiting for my orders...so no action in the surprise round...

Got to remember the mount! Willpower Save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

I was definitely mounted, hoping to charge whatever came out of the woods...

perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Mount
perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

I think above ground we are just waiting to see if our friends come back, otherwise waiting for the surface posts to resolve themselves.
If Vess and Djat give a quick summary of anything else they plan to do down there we can move the other situational actions along.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Agreed...stay behind me. I hope whatever magics you have can hurt this creature. I would rather the others were here as well.
See if you can get the their attention back up here!

Rsss'tak lowers his Lance and prepares to do battle.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

VISSSILA
perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

I think we were waiting on you. Vess and Djat were going in to look again at the crystals I believe.
People do need to be very specific about their actions in a PBP...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Rsss'tak sits on Visssila his lance held up, she shifts with unease...as he tries to settle her a little, What if this creature can fly? as Rsss'tak looks up into the trees...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Rsss'tak will loop the other end of the rope around his saddle so he can quickly get him out if needed.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

I think we may be too late, look in the pool a small bow and maybe some blood. The creature must have already come here...may still be here. Vess can you try to find its tracks? Be ready.

Rsss'tak will have have his lance out...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Rsss'tak perception 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 4 = 21

Visssila perception 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 4 = 22

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Will approach the fountain again cautiously, both him and his mount expecting trouble.

Rsss'tak perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Mount perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

We should be careful and expect trouble. If the other fey suceeded in getting this evil beast it spoke of, we may have to fight it. Let me be in the lead as we close in, with Vess near the front as well.

Yochtanl reminds the group in the morning, as all the events with this fey may have caused them to lose sight of their first goal: "Hey, just to be clear, after this business with the fey, we are still going to those ruins on the coast, right?"

No reason not to continue Yochtanl, hopefully we can help them and move on.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1
Yochtanl Torufo wrote:

"And what solution do you have in mind? Do you think the crystals are working to contain this taint, or are they actually the source of the problem? And how much merit can we put into the things this fey said?" Yochtanl doesn't like the situation any more than Djatrix, as it's a rather complicated mess and tiny fey feet may indeed have to get stepped on.

Suddenly, a thought hits Yochtanl, "Hey, the second fey went to speak with some evil beast by the first's description, right? I hope that he doesn't return with it tomorrow, or that if he does, this first fey can stop a conflict." It would be a lose-lose situation as Yochtanl sees it; either they kill the evil beast and the fey either attack as well or no longer aid the party, or they die from it.

These Fey have sacrificed for the world as they know it. We know little of their situation yet. Once we examine the source tomorrow we may learn more and will hopefully be able to confirm what they are saying and try to help them.

Speculation gives us nothing, but if anything threatens us I will not hesitate to destroy it. Hopefully it will not come to that.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Done for now....

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

I am translating everything going forward.
In Sylvan, Talk with your spirits, we will return tomorrow.
Rsss'tak mounts up and readies to head out...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1
Yochtanl Torufo wrote:

"Well, we planned on it anyways." says Yochtanl matter-of-factly. "I suppose this just seals the deal."

He says out loud to no one in particular: "Ah, if only I could see these crystals myself. Perhaps I could discern something about their nature..." He mutters about not having the capacity for swimming that the lizardfolk do.

Translates her words...then says to Yochtanl

Maybe we can take you down there to examine them? How long can you hold your breath for? giving him a big toothy grin

To the friendlier fey, May we enter the fountain to examine the crystals? We must learn something about their nature to possibly help you. We will be very careful not to touch the sacred one...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Djat, you didn't touch the crystals did you? You seem to have a blue color to you as well! he says with a lot of concern...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

In common to Djat and the rest of the group,
This is what the creature told me..."The azure hue to all the life around here comes from the spring underground. After the Storm God fell, his blood rained down in many places across the world and caused curses, arcane mutations, and blight. Here, our grandmother, our mother and her sisters, who resided in this place for an age, used their magics to bind the blood to prevent harm. It was absorbed by strange crystals at the spring's fountainhead, and by the roots of our grandmother, who sleeps to this day. Their sacrifice was great, and the mortals of the age set up this shrine in their honor, and remembered them for many hundreds of years. Despite their efforts, the god's blood still seeped into the land over time..." does this seem what could have happened with what you have seen down there?

Do you think there is anything we can do to help them?

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

In Sylan, then translates for his friends, Djat, the creatures of this area are just protecting it, this is their sacred land that is why they attacked us.
There has been a misunderstanding with the humans of this area, we would like to try and help them to correct it. We have offered our help by offering a token of faith with them to seal the bargain.

He then goes to describe what happened and what they all offered.

In common, What did you find down there? Maybe it can help us understand what is going on here?

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Since I mentioned it I have been translated everything for the rest of the group...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

So be it.
Rsss'tak removes the necklace with the two large fangs hanging from his neck. It is the necklace he gathered from his battle with a Trollmires Vorta, the one that paved his way to become a protector.

This necklace means much to me, I am who I am today in part because of it.
He drops it into the fountain and nods to the creature.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

He translates her words to the others...then in Sylvan...I am sorry, your customs are lost to us, do you want to seal our treaty with blood? I have no hair as you can see. he gives her a toothy grin.

Rsss'tak slowly dismounts and even more slowly approaches the fountain with his hands out.

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1
Vess'Sothek wrote:

Vess'Sothek hears the question, considering the words as consideration was given to Rsss'tak. After a moment, he gives his honest answer: I am not one of them, and I do not know them; I would have to ask to find out. He looks pointedly to Benjamin.

Rsss'tak smiles towards the fountain, Vess, there is at least one mortal already standing here who is willing to try and help them.

I think you may have answered your own question my invisible friend. You have not met them yet but there are lizard folk and humans who would die to protect you and your kind, given an understanding of what is here...let us try, give us a chance to earn your trust.

Translates for eveyone...

Rsss'tak starts to wonder how he suddenly became the one taking the lead with them, he is a warrior not a chieftain...but something about their plight makes him want to protect them and this place...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

He does translate what they say for the last two posts, will have to retcon the others when we have a chance...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Translating again
Yes they stopped coming, it was forgotten. What if we could tell the humans your tale, let them know of your grandmother's sacrifice? What if you could work out a deal with the humans to help you protect this place?
Maybe together we could find out a way to help contain the taint. Driving the humans out will only succeed in making them want to find out what is here more...

Male Lizard Folk Cavalier (Order of the Protector (Sword)) (FC) 1

Will translate so everyone understands what I am saying,
Have you thought that the boy had no idea that he was doing any harm, that he thought it was just simple stone?
The humans can't speak your language for the most part.
There is no longer any black and white, when the world broke so did our memories.
Lost has the memory become of those that used to be here and their sacrifice. The humans will come in more force eventually unless you deal with them. Or more travellers like us. We can help you or you can keep fighting, a battle that you will lose eventually, the choice is yours.

To Tharrek, I would help both sides come to terms rather than see more tradgedy...
