I'm sorry but i'm slowly realizing between my new job and the two pbp I'm running (one by choice, one because the GM left), I don't have as much time as i used to. I loved the opportunity you gave me and it taught me a lot for my own home game of this. feel free to keep rory as an NPC, until you find a new ruler who can take over.
but i would think there needs to be a few at least that are unbiased in the affair to maintain that Grigori received a fair trial.
judge does make more sense. Unless we're not doing a jury because then Rory would be biased since he really doesn't like Grigori.
most i know is just jokes about law and order...
Rory sits behind a sits at the head in the main hall of the castle turned into courtroom. He stands to address everyone before the start. "We are here this day before the eyes of gods and men to bear witness to the testimony of Grigorri. He is being charged with disturbing the peace, attempting to incite a riot, and sedition. May the truth be spoken and justice found."
I dunno, it just seems cool to me. Playing a bard is different for me. I usually play barbs and fighters, and other classes that hit things with big weapons. Bloodrager fits that and seems to be a fun twist to a classic barbarian and wanna try it out.
Skald maybe? But it doesn't fit with Rory's upbringing. I'd still need him to be charismatic. @ Tark - I really love the bloodrager but i understand not wanting to trade out that DR.
I think we can establish that we'll catch him again and put him on trial since Rory's hellbent on having him exposed to the public he's wound around his fingers. I dunno if there's any rolls or whatever for that but I think we can agree that this is what's going to happen.

Grigori, as much as I've enjoyed our back and forth just now, I'm placing you under arrest for crimes against the kingdom." Rory stood and walked back towards the bar where Adular and Mal have been watching. He patted Mal on the shoulder and with a stern face said, [b]"Don't hurt him. He's to receive a fair trial where his crimes will be put forth for the people to see."
"Why do I think that? Because I grew up in the halls of the Brevoy royalty. Lies and tall tales were my constant companions. As such, I can tell when someone's being honest with me and when someone's hiding something. I'm going to ask you once more before I let my friends at the bar take you in for further questions and I can promise you this, they're not going to be as kind as I've been with you. Who sent you?" Rory asked with authority.
"Fine, you want us to be more open, we'll be more open with topics. There's a green dragon that's taken residence some thirty miles north of us. She's a greedy b!tch. Now that I've come clean, its time for you to come clean. Who sent you here?"
Just as a heads up guys, but I'm going to be busy tomorrow and maybe saturday aswell moving into my new place.
"Wait, now you want our government to be open about everything? I thought you were simply out to defame our character. Make up your mind and just spill it. Who sent you here?" Rory said and folded his arms.
"The cattle and other livestock were not the secret part. Like you said, it's pretty obvious. Though just keep in mind that each cow we give the dragon is one less citizen of this city that will be tortured and killed by the dragon. The secret part was about one of our men who went in to scoop info on the dragon's lair and was killed in the line of duty. You acted as if it was done out of greed and nothing more. That man died to try to gain some advantage against the beast for the protection of not just us but every man woman and child here and you spat on his memory. That man was like a brother to me." Rory said, his voice raising towards the end. He paused and let out a long sigh, his temper cooling. "But obviously you have some better plan to take on this dragon. So lets here it. How do you propose to take care of her?" Rory asked, calm again.

"The dragon is an issue we are currently working on. The means of which are currenþly classified as top secret. And I like how you completly glazed over how you were wrong about the werewolf incident. It really does seem to me that yiur taking whatever you can and spinning it iut of porportion to make us seem like the bad guys."
"You claim the werewolf attacks were caused by us exploring the nearby lands to ensure its safety for people to hunt in. Did you know we captured the werewolf and cured him. He explained to us that he was a wanderer and nothing more." Rory says and sits down in an empty seat. "So I was thinking back on some of the stuff you've said and was wondering how you heard about some of the stuff. Some of the stuff were top secret information for the protection of the city, information that could jeopardize the safety of all of us now that you've let it out. So how did you find out?
"I asked you a question first." Rory says without hostility.
Rory looks at Adular and Mal and notices them starting off somewhere and follows there gaze only to see Grigori with a crowd of people. Spurred forward by liquid courage he approaches. "I think a newspaper would be a grand idea. Good way to inform people of what's happening around the city, both good and bad. Unless you plan on it being a means of spreading baseless gossip. I've never been a fan of gossip, always lies meant to do harm but told in a way that makes it more believable. You wouldn't happen to be an expert in this trade, would you, Grigori."
but if he isn't, he'll get an inner look at how our city is run and have even more info to use against us. that goes double for if he really is a spy.
"You might not want to be here. Never know who'll show up. And I tend to be a talkative drunk." MAllichatti says pointedly. Rory shrugs and stands and sways a tad, never been one to hold his drink well. "At least let me get you guys a drink before I go." He says.
Rory sits at bar and glances over at the Mal and Adular walking in. He had come here to unwind after his patience with Grigori being pushed to the edge. He waves at them, a mug of ale grasped in his hand on the bar top. "Done in the prisons already?" He says, already feeling more calm due to his second mug.
that's good to hear. Next weekend I'm moving to a new place and have no idea how that's going to affect me in the grand scheme of things.
"Damn him. More force would have just made him look like an even bigger victim. He'll be back tomorrow, he always comes back. This time I think we'll have to get him. Rory said before standing. "If you'll excuse me, I shall take my leave before more news of our bardic friend makes me do something I'll later regret, though I fear it may be too late for that."
Rory leans back in his chair and sighs. "Do it. Arrest him. Do it carefully though, I don't want him hurt. He's to be charged with the intent to cause riots. Make sure the people know he's to receive a fair trial. Once he's under our protection we can question him about who he knows."
"He wants to be seen, he wants us to get him in public where everyone can see it. Bastard. If we do this, the way he wants, we'll need to tread carefully."
"Just do what needs to be done to get him off the streets legally," Rory said. "And don't cause a scene. Our favor with the people is waning because of him and I don't want it to get worse."

Rory sat at the head of the table, hands folded in front of his face as he stared into the abyss in thought. It took a moment for him to collect his thoughts and speak them aloud to the others. It was not an easy thing for him to say. "We arrest him on counts of of espionage and question him on his sources. He is to hold trial which will be open to the public. He will receive a fair trial. If this trial airs our secrets... well lets hope the people will still trust us afterwards."
"He'll need a trial. The people seem to love him and his stories and we need to show them the truth. This will not end well no mater what we try him for as it will enviably end with our own flaws being brought into the public view." Rory said after a brief moment of silence. "I don't suppose Gorum has any words of advice for a situation like this that would help us."
"That may be, but I rather get him before that happens and I want to be sure we have just reason for it. With the way he has the people now, if we just arrest him we'll lose some of their support."
"Then it seems we may have another enemy to be wary of. I want top men shadowing Grigori. They are to remain hidden and return to us when they have located his residence."
"Yes, as soon as we find out where he's staying we need to confront him without the masses and question him. I no longer believe this man is working alone, someone is guiding him to our must vulnerable spots. Do you believe it could be Lady Greenscale trying to rid of us?"
Sorry for your loss, Adular. Take all the time you need. oh man. Got everything up to date in the calendar and just made a post. Sorry I've been so MIA lately, lotta stuff happening here. Just got a kitten that's proving to be quit the handful, had a job interview yesterday for full-time that I feel good about, and I'm moving in about three weeks and I'm starting to get ready for that. Hopefully things will calm down soon.
Rory was out with Selene when he took notice of Grigori's return. His eye's narrowed when he heard him mention the tributes they paid towards "Lady" Greenscale. Selene placed a hand on his chest and said, "Rory, calm down. He's not worth it." "But how does he know about that. I was positive the tribute was portrayed as trade between us and another settlement." Rory said back. "Bring it up to the others. Hey, look at me." Selene forcibly took Rory's gaze onto her. "He's not worth it. You'll only play into his hands if you confront him alone." Rory let out a long sigh and kissed her forehead. "You're right. We should find the others and speak with them."
In the process of putting together a Seascared (wereshark-kin skinwalker) wave oracle. I'll post it when I'm done.
"You're right I'd have a probably with that. We don't need to kill him. I'm sure we can find some other way to deal with him." Rory says to the squabbling Mal and Adular.
"I hate to say this, but perhaps we should attempt to find him and speak to him without the pressure of a crowd of citizens. Perhaps we can find out exactly what's driving him then."
I used it on that diplomacy check. My normal bonus is +10, +4 from touch of glory's untyped bonus and +2 from inspire competence gave me a nice little +16 to the diplomacy check
Alright, made my post. Now to figure out the next month's events for Rory. edit: Then again, maybe not. I don't my stuff on me saying how much resources Rory has...
Rory approaches the bard and listens to his words. When he and Adular finish their quarrel, he chimes in. "You're right to a degree, Grigori. Might doesn't make right, despite with my Gorumite friend says. Yes we defeated the Stag Lord, you say you wish for proof, we have his helm mounted up in the stag's tavern. It radiates necrotic energy which is why none of us touch it more than the occasional cleaning. Our very keep is his old stronghold. We're still finding things that he and his horde left behind. You're more than welcome to see for yourself, just send me a letter and I'll arrange a tour. "But that alone doesn't determine us as leaders. What does determine our leadership is that we're the surviving team that Brevoy sent out to start a nation. They recognized our right to rule the moment the Stag Lord fell. We're the ones who forged a peace between the hunters and newly forged city with the Sootscale tribe. We're the ones who've sweat and bleed for the safety of the city. Did we attract the werewolf here, I can't say. Maybe? But we took care of him before he could kill again. The blood of those he killed are on our hands, I know that. It pains me, but I move on. I can't dwell on the deaths of two people when more than two hundred still rely on me."
