Rogar Befin's page

As they negotiated, Rogar silently ground boulder after boulder into dust, far below the ground. What was the point of all of this, all the fighting and efforts to crush the Ironfang Legion, if they were just going to give up and not finish them when they had the chance? Why let them get away with all their crimes, simply because their leader was influenced by another? These were the problems that haunted the dwarf in the coming days.

When it came time for their little warband to disband, Rogar was the first to leave. It wasn't that he disliked them, after all- he trusted them enough to go along with the others as they negotiated for a truce instead of victory- but simply that he felt lost. He had been a blacksmith, once, after all, but after even such a relatively short amount of time consumed with nothing more than violence and war, that felt hollow. Besides, what good was the ability to forge a single pick when he could hollow a mountain on his own? What use did a sword have, when he could launch a thousand at a foe?

And so, he found himself increasingly aimless as time passed. He spent time in Kraggodan, making new caverns and repairing the old, but that quickly felt pointless, and he sought out conflict once more. No amount of hunting down dangerous beasts and wiping out bandits helped, though, so he continued in his search.

Perhaps it was inevitable that he would eventually find his way back to the Plane of Earth, but it still took him a few years to do so. And once he was there, he ventured ever further, spending more and more time away from civilization in his 'hunting trips.' One day, he didn't return, but whether that was because he finally found a foe mighty enough even he couldn't prevail or because he managed to find a new hunting ground that kept him busy for a long, long time, who can truly say?

Thanks so much! It's amazing to think that it's over. It's kind of weird, really. We started this so long ago, too- it was one of my first games, and yet here we are, three years later and finally done. Thank you so much for running it, Brainiac, and everyone else for playing! Best of luck to all of you in future campaigns, and maybe we'll run into each other again.

Rogar merely stays silent, not trusting himself to betray the... truce that the others have initiated. He crosses his arms in the back and expresses his aggravation by angrily rearranging stonework far below them, too deep to notice by anyone else.

Rogar cracks his knuckles as a pebble falls from his beard, "Alright. Who's next?" he asks, sending off a pair of blasts at the surviving hobs.

Rogar responds not with words, but with what essentially amounted to a bomb, a tightly compacted sphere of metal being flung up at the minotaur, which promptly detonated into a field of razor-sharp fragments.

While Rogar doesn't know as much, I think that Xorns need crystals for either reproduction or food, so a simple display likely wouldn't do it.

Rogar glares at the creature, "Ye shall die fer that." he responds, his voice steel, and he stops himself from immediately lashing out at the monster, instead sinking beneath the ground and returning to the others.

"He has no interest in talkin'. An' has mind magic." he tells the group. "Also tried ta attack me. Wha' do ye think we shoul' do?"

The Greater Invisibility only works on constructs, unfortunately.

Rogar drops his spell effect, "Ah have not some ta serve, but ta help, if ye wish it. Ah and mah allies seek ta vanquish tha invaders and rid their influence from this land. If ye woul' tell yer guard ta not attack us, ah can get them an' they can talk ta ye more." he tells the creature.

"Ah can venture past tha construct ta see wha is in store, and see if tha Ol Master is willing ta talk?" Rogar offers.

Assuming the others agree, he activates the Greater Invisibility option of his ring and walks past the guard into the next room.

Rogar quickly moves a portion of the crystals he began to gather in front of the explosion, the remaining fire not even making him blink. "Yer a slippery one, aren't ye?" he accuses the hobgoblin, bringing his rocks to bear.

His appearance rapidly crystallizes, his flesh-and-blood visage quickly being replaced, not by the typical granite statue he usually appeared as, but instead made of the brilliant crystals found all around them. Likewise, the metal shards he pelted Shaakib with were likewise crystalline in structure, and the endless torrent even included more than a few actual crystal shards in the barrage.

He starts summoning massive clouds of crystals around him, "Or, ye can take a very nice gift o' some very shiny crystals in yer thick skulls. Yer choice."

"Good luck wi' tha." Rogar replies, almost sounding bored as he raises his hand and the air is filled with flying shards of metal and stone flurrying at the hobgoblin, turning him into something with a strong resemblance to a pincushion.

Rogar doesn't even bother trying to break through the images, instead simply reshifting the environment around the two of them in a heartbeat, raising massive walls of earth around the two of them, dropping them into a pit below. Rogar, for his part, simply rides the changing earth to the top, looking down on the traitor 20 feet below him, and with a wave of his hand, the earth roils and begins to grab at the traitor, preventing him from doing anything magical.

Deadly Earth Base damage: 7d6 + 1d8 + 29 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 1, 4, 1, 2) + (2) + 29 = 47
Obisk takes 11 damage, and has to succeed on a DC 32 Reflex save or be Entangled immediately and at the end of every turn in the pit (see below).

Okay, so using Greater Shift Earth to lower the 5-foot area he's in into the ground, while simultaneously raising the area outside of that by 10 feet, creating a trap and fairly sizable hill. Obisk would get a Reflex save (DC 20) to avoid moving along with the earth, but should still be trapped by the hills that spring up around him.
Then, Gathering Power and using Quickened + Entangling Infusion + Deadly Earth, which takes a total of 10 Burn, but between Gather Power (-2), Infusion Specialization (-4), and using 3 points from my Buffer, means none of them hit my HP, but Entangles Obisk unless he manages a DC 32 Reflex save, and any time he ends his turn in the pit, he has to make another save or be Entangled/Immobilized.

Rogar pops out of the ground as soon as he catches even a hint of the real dwarf, shooting himself across the intervening distance in a heartbeat, slamming into the ground not two feet away from the fleeing dwarf, and extends a dangerously sharp shard of metal at the traitor's throat, "If ye care ta live longer than one more minute, ye'll stop righ' there."

Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Using Ride the Blast to catch up. Whatever he's using to get away, I doubt he can outrun 270 feet/round of movement (double Extended Range Ride the Blast plus 30 ft movement speed)

As soon as Rogar hears the results of Wulfram's investigation, he immediately sets off to apprehend Obsik, drifting straight through floors, walls, and ceilings to find the traitorous dwarf.

Rogar joins Wulfram in trying to ally with Sir Daq, adding in some military tactics and the like that might be helpful.

Profession (soldier): 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 5 = 5

Rogar approaches Sebine, asking her for her opinion on some defensive fortifications that he might be able to quickly assemble with his powers, creating small-scale versions to demonstrate his ideas floating in the air.
