So, the first auction will be at a side shop I have built, and will take place in 30 minutes for anyone interested in such an event. He leaves the stage, and heads back to his shop. He goes inside the extra building. The outside looks unimpressive, while the inside is quite lavish and posh. Crushed velvet drapes line the windows. Oak benches are lined in rows, and can easily fit 100-150 people. At the back of the room, is a pedestal, inside of a 30 purple-azure field. Rifiki comes out 25 minutes later, with a big smile on his face. He steps inside the anti-magic field, and places a silver dagger on the pedestal. He steps back outside and stands at a podium and addresses the crowd. Greeting everyone, and thanking for making my first attempt a successful one. Now, on to the starting bid, before I go into detail about the dagger you see before you. The opening bid for what you see is 1000 gold pieces After a few people let out a shocked reaction, Rifiki continues on. The dagger you see is indeed an Alchemical Silver coated dagger. It once belonged in an Osiron Tomb of a pharaoh. The etchings on the hilt give the dagger two things: its aesthetically appealing to the eye, and it is where the magical properties are stored. Sense DC 15+:
What Rifiki says is true, well at least about the etching reference. The tomb bit was most likely for flair, but it could be true for all Rifiki knows[/b] After a few moments he goes on, This hot dagger has a moderate enhancement on it. Sense DC 18+: The dagger is a flaming dagger, but you are unsure of the actual strength of the enhancement. [ie. +1 or +3

Rifiki strolls through the crowd. There is some business, but not a great deal. He gives a nod at a few patrons, and he stands on the center stage. He looks around, and smiles at everything going on. When the crowd starts to hush, he raises his hands and waves at all around. Hello all, sorry for my absence, but I assure you I have not left. I don't trust anyone to run my Emporium, but MYSELF. So, I have a new side-business of sorts. I am now the proud owner of an auction house. Here is how my auction hose works He pauses for a moment, then once he has formulated his thought he continues, For the time being, I will be putting my own items up for bid, however to make things a bit more interesting, the items of for grabs will be in an "anti-magic field" to ensure that all bidders have equal opportunity, and it keeps divination magic out of use to gain an advantage. I will clues to what the item may be, it will be up to you if you wish to believe what I say or not. I will put an item up for bid, with an opening amount. I will put clues in spoilers (I am trusting you guys lol), and the clues will let you get a better idea of what the item is. This is a trial run, so it may very well be scrapped if too difficult to do well.

Bartholomew heads over to Rifiki to collect on his wager of brandy. AS Rifiki had promised, he pops the top of a fine aged brandy, it is dark amber in color, with notes of spice as the smell wafts through the air. He pours you a drink, and the moment it hits your pallet, you are in awe of the taste. It is smooth, doesn't burn going down and is truly a masterpiece. If you want to by a couple tankards of Applejack for the house, it will cost you 1 gold and 2 silver.

Rifiki hears a ringing in his ears, as you reappear, and a moment later, all sound goes away. He start yelling, since he cannot hear himself. Impressive, I have underestimated you. I am not without my own tricks! He pulls another scroll, from his backpack. He reads from he scroll, trying to get the words out correctly. He thinks he gets the words out correct, but not being able to hear proves to be his downfall. The spell fizzles. CL DC 5: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

It was quite fun, despite my losing. Now, for the love of God, give me back my hearing! I tried to prolong the duel with fog cloud, but I failed the %. Nice one

You actually got a +10, as you used the same spell, *I think*, so you easily made the check. Bartholomew, casts his own color spray, just as Rifkiki finishes the last gesture. The spell fizzles, and Rifiki smiles. Impressive young man, but don't think that are the only tricks up my sleeve. Bartholomew, you begin to cast a spell, and Rifiki tries to identify it. spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Hmm, interesting, you are wanting to vanish? I wonder what idea you have, well I will have none of that. He doesn't counter it, as he wants to save the spell. perception to hear where you went: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 I need you to roll a stealth check, which I think you make even on a 1, since it would be 1+10 (vanish). Hmm, maybe I should have countered it, oh well.

Rifiki bows to you. I shall see you then my friend. I hope you enjoy the smell of the stables, as he give you an evil grin A few hours go by, and you are greeted by the Drow at the field outside of town. Are you ready young man? Remember, I used to dabble, so my skills may be a bit...rusty. He than extends his hand to shake yours. You each pace 15 paces away from each other, so there is 30 of luscious green grass between the two of you. There is an independent person, towards the sideline, who is holding a "starting pistol". After a few tense moment, the pistol makes a loud crash breaking the silence. Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Dueling Counters: Dueling Counter Each participant in a duel can take a special action once per round called a dueling counter. A dueling counter is similar to a counterspell, but is easier to use. When a dueling opponent tries to cast a spell, the targeted spellcaster can make a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + the spell's level) as a free action. If the check succeeds, she identifies her opponent's spell and can attempt a dueling counter. If it fails, she cannot attempt a dueling counter against that spell. A dueling counter is an immediate action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. To attempt a dueling counter, the countering duelist must expend a spell or a spell slot of a level equal to or higher than that of the spell being cast. Note that characters who cast spells spontaneously (such as bards and sorcerers) must choose what exact spell they are using to counterspell in addition to the slot being used. The countering duelist must then make a caster level check against a DC of 15 + the spell's caster level. Unlike when using a true counterspell action (which requires a readied action), even expending an exact copy of the spell being cast does not guarantee success. The caster attempting the counterspell receives a bonus or penalty on her check depending upon the level of the spell slot expended and the exact spell used, as noted in Table 2–3. If the check is successful, the spell is countered—it is negated and the spell is lost. If not, the spell happens as normal and the duelist attempting to counter the spell takes a –2 penalty on any saving throws made against the spell's effect. Alternatively, a spellcaster can use dispel magic or greater dispel magic as a dueling counter. When a dueling spellcaster does so, she does not need to identify the spell being cast, can counter a spell of any level, and must succeed at a caster level check against a DC of 11 + the spell's caster level. When dispel magic is used as a dueling counter, it is not modified by any of the circumstances in Table 2–3. Because readying to counterspell is its own action, a participant can choose to ready to counterspell and make a dueling counter in the same round. This is only useful if the participant is facing multiple opponents or someone with access to Quickened Spell or other abilities that allow casting two spells in the same round. Table: Dueling Counter Modifiers Circumstance Check Modifier Spell is of a different school –2 Spell is of the same school, but not the same spell +2 Spell is of a higher level than the spell being counterer +1 per level higher Spell is the same as the spell being countered +10

Rifikki looks up to you, and gives you a sinister grin, like only a Drow knows how to do. He waves you over to his table, Bartholomew, come here my dear boy. As you sit down, he gestures for another round. So, I hear you want to have a wizards duel? I dabbled in wizardry back in the day. Care to have a go at it. I will put up a flask of my finest brandy if you win.

Rifiki will wake and stretch his body and legs after the tense evening before. He checks the straps of his leather, straps a dagger to his boot and one to his hip. After the preparations are all done, he nods in agreement at going on. The family needs closure. I intend to deliver it to them. Shall we head past the creepy sarcophagi room as he shivers slightly at the thought of it, lets to the room beyond, and start there. Unless there are any objections?
Drow Rogue 2, Sorcerer 3
Rifiki will sit up, startled by the scratching noise, dagger drawn ready to stab whatever threat may exist. He looks around, expecting to be clawed by something. He relaxes a bit, then stands to his feet. What is that incessant scratching. I don't stay this handsome without proper sleep, he says with a slight chuckle. Seriously though, what's going on?
Drow Rogue 2, Sorcerer 3
Rifiki will dust himself off, close the sarcophagi...leaving all the possible loot with the corpses, he may be in need of healing down the road. If Meepo is still on the ground, he will help him up with a hand. Once Meepo is up and safe, Rifiki will check out the door to area 25 for anything behind it perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Pride cometh fore the fall right I agree he should be saved, but don't come crying to me should you fall again Rifiki says as he cracks a smile, At least let me prepare this time for the filthy horde. With that he stows his dagger in his belt, grabs his sling and loads it ready to fire, then nods at Mel and says, I guess when everyone is ready, lets exterminate some critters

Rifiki, seeing Yanli taking on many rats decides that trying to get through all that chaos will be nigh impossible. He steps up, grabs a vial of acid along the way then tosses it past Yenli in hopes to scatter the rats out of fear. acid vial: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 2 = 8 at R-8

Drow Rogue 2, Sorcerer 3
Seeing the sarcophagi move, sends chills down Rifiki's spine. Then upon seeing the undead abominations move and shamble, causes the blood to drain from his face. It's not often a Drow turns pale in skin tone. For a brief few moments, he is speechless. Then a brief screech escapes his lips, then he steels his nerves and buckles down for the fight to ensue. I may not be a full elf, but i would never wish this on my foulest enemy With nowhere to go, and the heavy hitters in front of him, Rifiki will hold his action to wait for an opening to move in closer to the action.
