Never played up the society rep but my character is past rep of being a ‘bard beater’ has come into play..

In 4 out of 6 sequential scenarios over two levels, I beat up 3 PC bards and 1 NPC bard, the PC’s being due to charm person, charm monster and a well placed suggestion. Nearly killed the first bard non lethally and the third nearly killed me after I sundered his masterwork lute.

This fame came back to bite me in the Ruby Phoenix tournament when we faced off several bards who all made like a 27+ on knowl DTE local against me.

I wound up throat punching or eye gouging half of them (dirty fighter specialist)

Better yet, dead in a ditch NEXT to Osprey's corpse.

While being Osprey's peer, friend, ally, contact and/or lover is a recipe for a bad life (and the aforementioned final end in the ditch) the guy himself seems to be thriving...

Should make a cameo in a scenario,, lying dead in a ditch with Osprey sending to look for his friend....;)

I still don't get why the ban, if you're worried about players doubling up make it an either or..tattooed or spellscribe but not both.

Cause I got armored casters who aren't into ink...

the 8 spell levels never seemed that bad to me. at most ur looking at 8 1st lvl spells on the full plate armor. i think the biggest issue is the crafting rules that apply.

No more impactful than buying a scroll or spell tattoo I'd say. We are allowed to figure base cost for buying scrolls, potions, spell tattoos and wands..

I think it's the potential to 'load out' your armor that got the ban

Rereading the section, I think they should have limited the slots for each armor to something than armor bonus

I mean a war priest with an Armor of +8 armor bonus (or higher) rocking aces to 8 Spell levels of 'scrolls' is a bit much. Tattooed spells have a restriction to slot and reasonable access (you can't read the tat on your back slot...)

I was rereading Armor Masters Handbook (weighing the Tower Shield feats vs Tower Shield Specialist, which this PC is) when I notice something ironic about Spell scribed Armor.

It's illegal in PFS play, which I thought was a shame given tattooed spells is legal, but according to the book it was a Society member that rediscovered the lost art!

Ironic yes? ;)

When the first words out of one GM was 'Now I've got you' with my low Will save PC, I have gone with things like the spindle for a reason (along with Iron Will, a scroll of Suppress C&C, Seducer's Bane). The reason being five scenarios in a row getting charmed, dominated or suggested into beating the party bard to death.

The net result is my character's +2 Dueling Glamored Adamantine Bastard Sword being called 'Bard Beater' and the GM having 5 bards recognize me in one module as the beater of bards on three continents.

While humorous, two of those fights had the potential of my dirty fighting tower shield specialist killing the entire party. I don't hit hard but AC 30+ makes it hard for some characters to restrain/distract me. To date, three MW instruments have died @ 'Bard Beater's' blade.

So, yeah I think some scenarios have bad writing where it comes to 'let's dominate the fighter and have her kill you all'

Try to be a 'Bard beating' Fighter (not by choice.. Three VERY bad charm/dominate encounters in three running scenarios., who runs into FIVE Soundstriker Bards in an arena fight.

All the Bards made like a 25+ Knowledge (Local) roll against me. It was a good day to have a tower shield to fight defensively behind..

And I got this nice Ruby Phoenix tattoo after, as well as being the dirtiest fighter on THREE continents now.

A beautiful moment from our run of The Ruby Phoenix Tournament just over a year ago: the party druid wildshapes into a behemoth hippopotamus at the start of a fight that takes place while the PCs are having dinner. There's nowhere else for her to fit, so she wildshapes onto the table. The somewhat dim-witted half-orc monk's reaction? "Waiter! There is a hippopotamus in my soup!"

Okay... during my play thru my Tower Shield Specialist/Dirty Trick Fighter (who is know as the 'Bard Beater' for something like 8 encounters with bards (party and NPC) where she's publicly beat them silly) walks into an encounter with several bards..who ALL make their Knowledge (Local) roll and ID her as the 'Infamous Bard Beater'.

Needless to say the first round was focused on one particular fighter in the party.

Throat punch/sunder MW bardic instruments/pants enough bards and .. folks take umbrage at it.

What can I say?

I've throat punched, crotch kicked and eye slapped (with the flat of a bastard sword) folks all over Tien for the Ruby Phoenix Tournament

Dirty Trick is an awesome set up tool for helping flankers, sneak attackers and others. Superior Dirty Trick (Staggered) is an awesome thing.

Tis a good thing, putting the oathbreakers to a good length of steel and block their blows with a strong tower shield. I like forward to testing my steel against the Aspis and false Shadow Lodgers.

I so want this.. my PFS 'GM credit' fighter will fit perfectly on it.
