Renzio, standing near the door so he could more easily overhear the Duxotar, peers out into the common room and spots the coins. "Hmm, that's a distinct possibility, but aren't they usually left at the scene? I don't think this is a crime scene at the moment." The young nobleman says in reply to Tik. He then steps out of the backroom, and into the tavern proper. He draws his dagger, just in case.

Am recovering from a minor, yet annoying injury. I should be able to post in gameplay tomorrow however. In the meantime, let me at least roll a couple checks(which might inform my IG post: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 Society, what does Renzio know about Savois Tiri? 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Westcrown Nobility, for the above. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 Society, same question but for Stiglor 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 Westcrown Nobility, as above. Well, poop, not too much about Savois Tiri, unless Ray will let me take 10, at which point a 19 might be a bit better...

I'm currently experiencing a weird problem with my keyboard. The letters yuhjnm aren't really responding. Obviously that makes posting to games difficult. I can use both my phone(which I'm using to make this) and an on-screen keyboard, but neither are super great. I've messaged a friend, who can hopefully help. Will keep ya updated. Also, holidays will likely slow me down a bit too.

Renzio, being the protective older brother, is a bit more vicious in his desire for revenge. He subtly motions his silent thoughts on the matter to Arrus. Bluff:
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 to pass a secret message, DC 15 "Make her suffer." He then turns his attention to trying to overhear more of the Duxotar's rant. Spoiler: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 Perception
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
Renzio is the last to join the group in the private room, as he lingered for a moment listening to the Duxotar dress down Stiglor. He's half paying attention, so he doesn't reply to Arrus right away. "Uh, her name is Lady Felina, who is a member of House Imvius." He scowls visibly as Iluts continues his tirade. "I really despise that man."

Oh! I knew there was another reason I was waiting to post: Who is the newcomer(young lady in her 20s)? Unless I missed something, I don't believe she was given a name. Either way, I'll roll to see what Ren knows of her: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 Society 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 Westcrown nobility.
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
Oh, I don't expect any of them to recognize or know who Renzio is atm. My intent was to offer to pay for Lady Sascar's meal and say it was from Renzio Arvanxi. I got caught up starting decorating for Christmas, and helping my bestie run a Twitch fundraiser to get some monies to take her cat to the vet. I'll post tomorrow for sure.
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
Sense Motive:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Renzio feigns being hurt at his sister showing no appreciation. "Wow Tali, I put some serious effort into that guise." He says in a slightly whiny voice, before sticking his tongue out at her. He surveys the room, observing several interesting people and interactions. He makes some mental notes, particularly regarding Lady Sascar, who he knew had originally tried to form an alliance with his family. He wonders if offering to pay for her meal would be uncouth in an attempt to start to repair that rift. Society:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Westcrown nobility Is it in fact a breach of etiquette to pay for Lady Sascar's meal? The young nobleman practically spits in disgust as the Duxotar enters the tavern visibly drunk. What an absolute disgrace he was to House Mhartis, which in turn made him a disgrace to Renzio's own House. When Janiven returns to fill Arrus's mug, Ren slides her a gold piece. "I deeply apologize for Iltus' vile behavior" He says quietly by way of explanation. Finally, he turns his attention to his companions. "If Lodros is putting together this expedition, I will gladly lend him my services. Unlike his walking cesspool of a father, the younger Mhartis is a decently upstanding person. What say you Talia?"

OP link worked great, I've just had a busy weekend. My Grammy turned 99 years old yesterday! I will probably post this evening, as there some other stuff goin on today, both related to Gram's bday, and not. As for Investigate, I definitely do *not* want it for CoT, as I'm not lookin for full spoilers or super inside knowledge. I was thinking of something like 'local informants' or 'friends in low/high places' maybe?
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
I'll definitely be taking Westcrown Nobility as one of Ren's background skills. However, I assume it would only apply to Lord Lodros(I'm guessing Amaya and Tarvi aren't nobles), so will roll for him alone. If tells me otherwise, I can roll for the ladies as well: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Which isn't better than my above 18, lol. I'm thinking my other two background skills should be for Disguise and Investigate as those are my other two 'main' skills, despite Bluff being my highest, lol.
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
Ray, quick clarification: Here you said we get three background skills per level, while in your above post you said we get two. Renzio only has Perform: Act atm, though I just realized that maybe he could have some sort of specialized skill for Disguise? It's too bad Pathfinder got rid of synergy bonuses, cuz those would be most welcome and appreciated here.
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
Ray, before I reply in game, could I make a few Society checks to see what I know/learn more about Lady Sascar Tilernos, Amaya, Tarvi, and Lord Lodros Mhartis? If so: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 for Lady Sascar Tilernos. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 for Amaya. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 for Tarvi. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 for Lord Lodros Mhartis.
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
Prior to the meet up:
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32 Disguise to look like an older, homeless beggar, just to mess with Talia. Sitting at the table Janiven takes them to is an old man who is seemingly rather drunk.1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28 Bluff to appear drunk "This seat's taken, tramp. Get lost, before I get cross. You wouldn't like me when I was cross." He says, his speech very slurred. Moments later, he breaks into a grin, and a full belly laugh. "Sorry sis, I couldn't resist. How was Donatello?" Somehow, despite her best efforts, Renzio seemed to almost always know who Talia was currently entertaining. If he wasn't her brother, it would be rather unnerving. As it was, some of the things he knew surprised her. Even at his young age, he had already developed a small web of contacts, allies and informants. Ie, his solid bonus to Investigate.

Ray, the Noble Scion feat allows you to pick a specific benefit. While Scion of Lore sort of fits, it's not the best of choices. However, in the PF Companion Heroes of the High Court they offer other options based on the country you're from. While the following is 'officially' for those from Taldor, it's *perfect* for Renzio: Scion of Taldor:
You gain a +2 bonus on Charisma-based checks when interacting with nobles or members of a noble court. Would that be an okay swap? If so, it would give me a +4 bonus to bluff and diplomacy checks against nobles, the aristocracy, etc when combined with my two campaign traits. Also, I assume favored enemy(humanoid) and favored terrain(urban) are both solid choices? I'm considering taking the Favored Judgement feat, which is why I'm asking.

Chelish noble trait: The +1 Cha bonus is the only part I care about, especially since I already took the noble scion feat. Renzio meets the pre-req, so that part doesn't matter. Could I also take the Diabloist Raised trait from the CoT player's guide? Honestly, I'm okay with the -1 to Will Saves for every combat from Attached. It's a really flavorful drawback that fits Renzio perfectly. Unless of course Talia disagrees for some reason. I suppose if you wanna give me some additional minor boon to offset such a steep penalty, that would be okay, lol. I should hope you have no idea who Arcavius Arvanzxi is, as Talia and I made him up! lol
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
Ray, I'm thinking of taking the drawback Attached, as it fits Renzio perfectly. Officially, it says the GM picks the object/person of attachment, so would it be okay if Ren's attachment is to Talia? This would explain *why* he seeks(sought?) vengeance vs Lady Felina. I also had the idea that maybe House Arvanxi or at least Aberian, has the standard racist view of inferiority towards Tieflings. Renzio would obviously balk at this, and the treatment of his sister, and this could be another point of contention between the Lord Mayor and the young Arvanxi. Attached:
You have a strong emotional attachment to a person or object that you're terrified of losing. The GM chooses the object of your attachment. Whenever the object of your attachment is either threatened, in danger, or in someone else's possession, you take a —1 penalty on Will saves and a —2 penalty on saves against fear effects. If the person or object to which you're attached is ever lost, killed, or destroyed, exchange this drawback for the Doubt drawback. Also, we were talking it over, and we've settled on Arcavius Arvanxi as Talia and Renzio's father.

Couple of questions: 1) Could I take two campaign traits? If so, I was wondering if I could take the Chelish Noble trait from Hell's Vengeance, along with Diabolist Raised: Chelish Noble:
You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (nobility) checks, and Knowledge (nobility) is a class skill for you. In addition, you gain a +1 trait bonus on Charisma based checks against other members of the Chelish aristocracy. The Noble Scion feat (Pathfinder Campaign setting: The Inner Sea World Guide 288) does not have a Charisma prerequisite for you. Lastly, you start play with a noble’s outfit, a signet ring, and a single additional nonmagical item worth no more than 200 gp. 2) Can I take an alternate race trait? I'm looking at: Silver Tongued:
Humans are often adept at subtle manipulation and putting even sworn foes at ease. Humans with this trait gain a +2 bonus on Diplomacy and Bluff checks. In addition, when they use Diplomacy to shift a creature’s attitude, they can shift up to three steps up rather than just two. This racial trait replaces skilled. 3) For the game Sabella was in, you let us make custom races. Would that be allowed here? I'm guessing maybe not, since this a lower powered game, but wanted to ask. I would still obviously be human, but would alter it a bit.
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
It doesn't really matter for Renzio, but does your house rule of 'no class feature grants exotic weapon proficiency' mean that divine classes that would normally get proficiency in an exotic weapon due it being their deity's favorite weapon do *not* get that proficiency? Ie, Graz'zt favored weapon is a bastard sword. Does that mean Renzio doesn't get proficiency in it? He won't be using one, for a variety of reasons, but is he even able to, without penalty? Also, is there a reason magic item creation feats are banned, aside from scroll & potion? Is it just prevent abuse of WBL? Again, this doesn't apply to Renzio, it's more of a curiosity on my part. Finally some questions/thoughts for Renzio: Would it be okay if Ileosa was Renzio's aunt? I kinda like that tie, but it's not super important and would be just be for cool points, lol. At the moment, I'm thinking he'll be between 14-17, age wise. Should he be older? This is more for my own personal heads canon, but I was thinking maybe this game could take place while Magnius had been in Korvosa? I suppose it doesn't really matter either way, but it would make my brain happy to know for sure , lol. This would mean he's totally out of the way. Last, but not least, I came up with this idea that would have brought all of us together for the first time(pre-AP start). The other players more or less all liked the idea as well: In Talia's backstory, she was almost the sacrifice for a ritual of power. Renzio wants revenge/punishment, so he seeks out Tik who he knows has a deep appreciation for pain and suffering. He gets Pale Dim's PC to help track down our prey, and also to help with any fighting(Ren has only a little combat capability, as Phantom Thief gives up sneak attack). Talia has obvious reasons to come as well.

This is actually sorta perfect! When I was browsing through my copy of Book of the Damned(the hardcover), trying to settle on a patron for Arvanxi, Belial was one I was considering. However, I was never fully sold on him. Then I remembered the Graz'zt tie in with Sabella, and realized he's the perfect(imo, and personal setting) patron. He's also better suited as the god Renzio worships, as deception and cunning are two of Graz'zt main qualities/weapons.
Male Human Rogue(Phantom Thief)/Inquisitor(Urban Infiltrator) 1
I spoke to Ray about this briefly via PM, but I'm considering making Graz'zt the patron of Arvanxi. While he is a demon prince, and thus CE, he kinda leans fairly LE. There's also the rumor that Asmodeous is his father, with Pale Night as his mother. I kind of like the idea that Graz'zt is some sort of Infernal sleeper/double agent, which might be why he's been so successful in conquering 3 layers. Sabella Arvanxi is a tiefling whose mother's ancestry is traced back to the Dark Prince. |
