As the lady says, you have helped and your ability to see in the dark is invaluable." The gruff Reinnwulf has a hard time with apologies, though it appears that this is a case where one is merited. Even still, he cannot bring himself to say the words. His hackles have smoothed out, and his demeanor has shifted from threatening to simply watchful, though. That is something.

"Pah! Not everyone's opinions and reactions are driven by rumor and stories. If you had seen your sister tortured and killed by demon worshipers and their foul magics, maybe you would have another reaction. We cannot help being born what we are, but that doesn't make her any more or less dangerous. Her kind have a reputation for a reason." It took all of Reinnwulf's strength to put aside his weapon and face Allysen squarely, without flinching. Slowly, Reinnwulf lowered his spear and hackles. He wiped his face with his left hand, clearing away a sheen of sweat that should not have been there. "Still, you have offered no cause for harm, and for that I regret treating you as one of them. I'll not say I won't have to kill you before this is over, but that time is not now."

Reinnwulf shakes the gore from his spear, then slowly calms back to normal. The man seems to deflate slightly, as his rage-fueled muscles succumbed to physical exhaustion. For a minute, the barbarian warrior cannot do much more than shake as the adrenaline flows from his system. Then, as quickly as it came on, the exhaustion is gone. Reinnwulf actually looks cheerful as the effects of the berzarkrieg leave him, like a man who found his calling in life to his liking. Evidently, nothing excited Reinnwulf in life like battle. "Well, that was great fun, hey? And if the loot was a little drab, at least these insects will not be following us, waiting to devour us in our sleep?" He smiled a big toothy smile at Horgus. "As friend Weyland says, onward and upward!"

Is there anything around that we could make a crutch or cane from? Reinnwulf looked around, hoping to find something that would help the woman move a little quicker, if it became necessary. His heart went out to her, struggling past her injuries and willing to do what it took to get out of this mess. Assuming he finds something:
Reinnwulf picked up a chunk of wood nearly as tall as the woman, and uses his dagger to trim off the bottom end. With a few strokes, he cuts a crude horizontal brace into the top, and then wraps a spare shirt around it. He handed the crude crutch to Anevia, saying "Here, this may not be the best crutch, but it should serve. I made one like it for my sister..." He broke off, the thought of his sister nearly overwhelming him with both grief and rage. "...When she broke her leg falling out of a tree." He thrust the crutch at the woman with more force than he intended and stalked off"[/b] The elf now, something prickled his skin about that one. Reinnwulf would lay gold to goatskins that one was a mage. He would spit on the man, just for spite, but that wouldn't get them out of these caves any faster. Finally, there was the nobleman. Useless pack of stuffed porkskins he was. As able to help them get out of here as he was to fly to the moon. Still, he had offered money and Reinnwulf had accepted the offer. "Right, then. If we are all ready, shall we move on? Sun may have no majesty here, but I am sure it grows late in the day. Best we make our way to the surface soon, before other foul creatures come to find us."

Reinnwulf looked up sharply as Orzo's spell took hold. He growled deep in his throat and shuddered slightly at the effects of the magic. He didn't have as much of a problem with clerics and such, as he did with other spellcasters, but still... "Warn me before you do that again, will you? I don't like magic, and it makes me jumpy. We wouldn't want to have an accident down here, now would we?" Sorry for the silence. Ran a 12 hour game on Saturday and my mind was blasted.

Then, he noticed the few figures that were not dead, or in pieces, and moved to help the injured instead. Treasure could wait until after. "Hold, lady, and I will move the rock." Coughing, Reinnwulf raises himself to a sitting position. Around him, the air is dark and filled with choking dust. He puts his left hand down to steady himself and is relieved to feel the shaft of his hunting spear. At least he had not lost that, nor the pack on his back. Moving carefully, he pulled a torch from his pack. The flint and steel in his belt pouch were easy enough to use, though the first few sparks were nowhere near the paper-wrapped pitch coated head of the torch. After a few tries, though he got it burning. Spear in one hand, and torch in the other he looked about.

Reinnwulf watched the people moving by as he finished his meat pie and started looking for an ale cart to wash it down with. So many vendors crowded the streets and squares, each shouting his or her own wares. It was madness, and yet and oddly comforting madness, though the press of bodies seemed far too dense than possible. He found a couple of weapons vendors and an armor smith, a general goods cart, and a perfumery of all things before coming across a wagon loaded high with large barrels. A few quick words and a coin later, Reinnwulf's mug was filled to the brim with a foaming ale. It was a bit bitter, and tasted too strongly of the juniper berries used to hasten the aging, but it was wet.

Reinnwulf gawped at the sights around him as he took in the Armasse preparations. The throngs were heavy, though he had almost gotten used to them by now. What still amazed him was the intermingling of races. He has seen such a thing, in part, in other places, but here it was even more so. Human and goblin, orc and dwarf, elven, tielfling, and a half dozen others, all crammed together for the sole purpose of battling evil. It was refreshing, honestly. Too often, he had seen the same crowds of people ignoring the evil among them, and choosing not to oppose it. The paladin from the previous night was right - a good man should oppose evil, honor his ancestors, and strive to make the world a better palace for his children. Reinnwulf moved to a vendor's stand and haggled for a bit of dried fruit and a meat pie. The pie was hot, scalding his tongue, and he nearly choked on the flaky pastry, but it was well seasoned with salt and wine, with bits of potato, beef, mushrooms, and onion. He happily ate the pie while he walked.

I typically roll initiatives for my players, and then do block initiatives (pre-enemy, post-enemy)for the actual combat, using the initiative rolls to resolve any action conflicts. It's pretty much up to you. I don't think we have any +11 initiative people to get too upset.
