Some animals do offer higher damage, like some dinosaurs. They get a trip attack or someother added attack.

As for adding metals to there natural attack, well i have never heard of it. But if your GM says its ok, then that will work. I also don't know about the horseshoes.

I think it makes scene for demons to wear armor vs not. Tho i will admit not all demons would wear it or have means to wear it. But think about it and this goes for outsiders too. They fight wars tho for outsiders its with demons and devils. But for demons and devils they fight one another over control of the stupidest stuff. Yes getting your minions better weapons makes scene but so does give out armor to make them harder to kill. Now i do see that some places armor would work do to the climate. But given what you can make armor out of, just skin something that lives in that climate which is immune to the force that normally destroys armor. Sort of like a fire worm in a hot of fiery climate.

I don't think you have a problem. Just lack of experience in know what a char can do. Most all Barb's will be in the same boat as the one you describe. But like others have said so would most martals who go the 2 handed root.

I have made a paladin. A Dwarf with a dwarven war axe and i was killing most things with one hit. Sure i can clear out low level mobs. But higher level mobs takes me 2 to 3 hits so it even outs once you get to higher levels. Plus remember shes going to take hits and drop. Now my paladin has good ac the barb wont. So by adding more mobs you can make it more fun for the rest of the party because they have mobs to kill. Once the barb drops or is killed a few times she will start to think about ways to get into battle where she isnt always getting pounded on.

Wind is really strong out there - 50 knots. In Pathfinder terms, that's a windstorm. I read the wind rules just for the heck of it and figure out if I was a Pathfinder character, I'd have to make Str checks to get back to my room.

Reading the wind rules raised a few questions, though:
1) If you fail your Str check to move forward, is your move action still spent?
2) Do you make a Str check for every square or movement or just one Str check per round?
3) Can you make Magic Missile attacks during windstorms?

Wish me luck on those Str checks, I need to get some sleep soon! :D

You make a str check for the movement round not per square. Also Magic missile says it always hits so wind shouldn't effect it at all i guess. Maybe those little missiles wear raincoats so weather doesn't bother them.

is there a function to Bluff a mark into or out of existence?

It doesn't upset me at all for i would never run a game that limits the game as you seem to want to do. You are taking away free will. Just because you consider a mob pointless doesn't mean it shouldn't have free will still.

I guess i have no problems with your guild just your premises of what you call a Necromancer. Whats to stop a undead hunter who would be better severed than a necromancer himself in this role. Not all Necromancers are evil. I guess if you look at it as ever necromancer in your world is evil its a mood point but i would build the class or let me say a necromancer in a way that someone can be neutral or even good and still be a necromancer. After all who would make better healers then necros. Just my little rant. It shouldn't effect your build tho.
Tho i would say necromancers would be bookworms and more casters then melee so i disagree with you on them not being full casters. Also give him some means of taking over a corpse and letting it be a supsatute for him looking like him, acting like him with all his powers so he can use that in place to do his fighting and hunting while he sits in safety.

This isn't a movie and shouldn't be played like the game is run that way. That fodder you think is so helpless could wipe the whole party or kill a player and should be played as tho they can. If they are just there to throw and i literary mean throw at the party being no threat at all. Then why have the encounter in the first place.
All monster have tatics and what your system does is take away all tatics from all mobs even bosses unless the mob or boss makes its save which if you want to play that way i say all the power to you but your playing a lesser of a game for it in my opin.

When a player goes from playing evil to being an evil dick and wants to kill the party or get the party killed that char sheet is now an NPC. Which if he wants to turn on the party I'm happy to do but now I'll be doing it with an NPC vs a PC which i think makes a big difference.
I have been in a game where the player who was also the DM tired to kill my char and he did it when i wasn't even there. Good thing was he didn't know about my char trick or he would have died. Needless to say i just plane shifted to the astroplane with my bodyguard. And ever since then i have never let pvp happen on my watch and i tell people ahead of time I'm a no pvp DM and i will take char sheets.

You can try talking to this Sor. But i think your going to have to kill his char off or just take it away from him and make it into an NPC.

Besides a town full of slaves and devils plus i would think maybe some Djinn's or the like to spell higher magical items the party will need. Also if you start the players with no idea, I.E. gear-less. Leave the wizard with his mind full of spells and let him find a spell book pretty early so he could scribe his memed spells into his new spell book.
Also make it so that no flying/teleportation is allowed outside of the citadel but inside the citadel some forms of flight, teleportation is ok. But no planner travel or anything of the like inside or outside. As i come up with more I'll add more idea's.

If its unfair to use on the PC's how is it any more fair to use on the fodder? Because where i am standing, whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
I understand wanting to try to speed up battle but this sounds like it does the opposite. Tho you don't take away ever option from the mobs you are limiting what they can or would do. In most cases it would be to get picked off as they follow a mob that has them marked while they run after trying to hit. Because lets face it if the mob had any brains they wouldn't be tricked by who they go after thru cheap tricks and this seems like cheap tricks to me. Which is why i say if its not good enough to use on the PC's. It shouldn't be used on the monsters.
When i play or go into battle i want a challenge not easy mode and this just seems like easy mode to me, maybe I'm wrong but i don't think i am.

So I'm alittle confused here. Where rules did we come up with or what ever else we have decided to use with the weapon sets or setting them apart. I ask because this is something i would like to add to my home brewed game i have all planned out.

Amanuensis wrote:

Take a look at the blinkback belt - it fits your purpose well.

A scabbard that creates magical daggers (similar to the signature item of a certain famous drow mercenary) would be cool as well. However, I find your execution somewhat lacking: The language could be clearer and I don't see the necessity for a master/copy mechanic. I would have it summon daggers (or axes or whatever you want to throw) out of thin air and the items price would scale with the weapon's enhancement bonus.

I like the sound of this and think it is your best way to go. Having it summoned right into your hand seems to make sense as well. I should have thought of it. Plus if you go by its price by its + you can have it used on higher than +3.

thegreenteagamer wrote:

Meh, personally I am fine with things as they are. The die damage if wielding 1-handed is more than any other weapon one-handed. It's not a tremendous amount of difference, especially at higher levels, but it's also not noticeably less than your traditional 2-handed weapons.

If you're insistent that they deserve a boost, something as simple as "no buckler penalty for two-handed wielding with a buckler" is a pretty nifty trait to add without breaking the game.

I have to admit i like the sound of this. It sort of feels right to me. But that's just my 2cp.

Ross Byers wrote:
The bonus is that I revised 'one-handed' to not actually get a benefit from using two hands.

Oh sorry i didn't notice when i looked but i do see it now. I guess its a start but it feels like your really making one-handed weapons more like light weapons to me. Or am i misunderstanding you somehow.

The price seems cheap for something that recreates weapons that can have a +3 bonus of some kind. Other than that i do feel your on the right track but it needs some twinking. Why is it made of Ash vs being made of something else? I would think Ironwood or making it just be metal would be fine. Maybe make it a wrist sheath. That sounds like it would work best for me. I mean pulling daggers from your wrists feels more in sink then from what might be a big bulky sheath. Just my 2 cp tho.

I'm liking the idea of making hand and a half be better or give some bonus of some kind vs use taking a one-handed sword and using it 2handed. But how do you work it out and give what kind of bonus and minus to this kind of thing?

You need lots of either fire or ice depending on what duke/duchess it is. Now what if its a flying citadel? Not a small castle but something huge unlike anything found in earth. I mean its like 5 castles combined or even larger and in the center you have a huge arena. The PC's enter the front gate and have no gear. If they want to leave they have to find there way to the arena and arm themselves, there is a town on the grounds where they can somewhat rearm. Plus there is gear all over the citadel. Now everything, well almost everything has been tasked with killing the party so they have to talk or kill there way to the arena. Its up to you if you wish to make it like a maze to get there or not. Maybe have some levels or floors act as each level of hell to give them some idea of what the arena is going to be like. Make the mood of running thru the citadel like watching a Bennie hill show. You want to make the main even be the arena fights where if they are lucky they might get to fight the duke or duchess.
as for some decor think of some S&M for what it could look like or even worse. Rooms where people are being tourchered and asking for more. Maybe let the LE dragon work for them if they are willing to reword him/her enough with what ever they will get for winning. It could be a nice twist of things for the group to get a dragon on there side.

I think those whom have said to run a one shot is right. But if i was you i would run a two shot first so people really get to see each others true gaming sides and then can decide if they will be happy to play together.
Tho i have to say from what you have said it does sound like your DMing and there playing styles wont mesh.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have one 20 sided that dates back to my first dices. Some one stole all my dice i had back when i was in high school and this little green god was all i could find. Ever since then we have always had good luck together. So when my other dice start rolling bad i just dump out my dice bag, Remove everything and put my little greenie in there with the offending dice. I swear sometimes i hear what are muffled screams but after a min or two when i pull that dice out it starts rolling like it should. This trick has never failed me and nether has little greenie.

What is lawful stupid? I have never seen it but i have heard of it a lot but never heard of just what it is so could someone give me some examples please?

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LawfulStupid

"Also known as Lawful Anal, these people may call themselves Lawful Neutral, or Lawful Good but they lean toward such rigid adherence to the law that anybody who breaks any law, anywhere, for any reason, is the enemy. Even saying an unkind word to someone is an act of pure evil, and the Lawful Stupid can and will act as Judge, Jury, and Executioner.

Woe be to the fellow party member who fails to live up to their obsessive-compulsive standards. If the thief so much as jaywalks, Mr. Lawful Stupid will insist on turning him in to the "proper authorities" (regardless of what alignment said authorities are), or even execute him on the spot. Then he'll berate the other members of his party for "condoning" the thief's behavior, and may turn on them as well. This makes this guy highly irritating as well as stupid for turning in his only allies. For newbie DMs, the best solution is usually a blunt force object applied to the head of the offending character -- if not the player."

Thanks that helps me to understand better :)

For every 'Lawful Stupid' Paladin PC I see, I see three DM's who for some reason try to enforce such behavior on them.

Not to mention that in my (admittedly limited) experience some of the Paladins who go Lawful Stupid do so because at some point in the past a GM told them that was the right way to play the class.

If they don't all know each other before hand which i don't require. I just have them start more often than not in a tavern where they are looking for work and they are all picked for the job. I make it something small and somewhat easy for the people to get to know each other and see if they will get along. Or another thing i might do is have them all be called to some place. It depends, sometimes its a tavern, or maybe the guards house or some other place. They all got picked for the mission or are forced to go on it depending on there background.

Also, why do we get to kill young red dragons then? Shouldn't we be running around trying to rescue them from bad upbringings as well?

Technically, nothing is irredeemable in pathfinder. They even made outsiders that were literally embodiment of the forces of their alignment capable of shifting.

Well Goblins tend to nibble while red dragons will just eat your ass. But i see your point and i don't see why you couldn't have players running around trying to save the evil ones and taking them some place that trys to turn them good or some such.

Now on my world i have Chromatic dragons that are good but its less to do with there up bringing and more to do with there souls being inherently evil or good from birth kind of thing.
On my world if you got a good reason of how it could be done i wouldn't have any problems with a devil or demon turning good. And a Angel falling and going evil or something of the like.

I see nothing wrong with it as written. I have a sword on my world that puts this sword to shame. But i admit mine wasn't made for the players. But that doesn't mean they cant get a hold of it. Its prolly easier to get my sword than yours too.
If anyone remembers the Sword of Maelstrom from 2ed. Well its based off of that with more powers and geared for taking down gods or worlds even.

The only thing i would do with your sword would be. Make it that what ever is summoned they don't have control over so unless its weak stuff they would be getting themselves killed unless they found a way to control them.

It's up to the GM to draw the line, but there are lines you can't cross if you want to keep your AC. You can't torture it and expect to keep it, for example. Most would agree you can't amputate parts of it for eating and expect to retain the loyalty of the animal. Some would say "how would it know that it's own leg you're eating!?!" But, for sanity's sake, most GMs would say that if you're a big enough douche to treat your AC that way, it'll come across in your personality and the AC will sense it and abandon you.

Is using your AC as a landmine detector on par with using it as a walking larder? I'd say yes, but my table isn't everyone else's table. Draw your lines where you will.

I would draw the line at my table as well. It just doesn't sit right with me. Maybe its because i love druids and would never think of doing something like that to one of my AC. But i want to give the best advice i could on how one could let it happen in there game. Maybe i was way off but i thought i came up with some ok idea's

I like all of you guys thinking. They all sound great to me. I didn't think what trick would work but fetch would seem to be the best one i would guess.
A human would get tired of being used as a trap setter offer, why wouldn't your animal companion?

I think with your party make up you can get away with playing what ever you want. And you should be playing what you'll have most fun with. But myself i would go with a druid. You get good spells and you can manage the battlefield some. Plus you get an animal companion who i know for a fact can tank. Are they the best, no but they are pretty good. If you wanna go melee then that's an added bonus or you could go all casty. Just remember to buff up your animal companion really strong, with strong jaw and animal growth when you get those spells and he will rip thru anything.

He has or should have animal handle skill. Plus tricks that his AC can do. None of them has anything to do with being fodder for traps. Now that's not saying he cant use set pet to set off traps. Well first thing i would do is make traps that reset so the pet setting it off does nothing for the rest of the party. Any good DM should be adding some anyhow. Second i would be forcing him to do handle animal skill check to push the pet to be fodder. Its not something anyone creature with or with out intelligence is going to do willing. So that's how i would handle it. Tho to be honest i would talk to him out of game and tell him his pet is getting pissed off as being used as fodder and will leave you soon and the same thing will happen if you get another AC. But that's what i would do.
If your not for that. Do the skill check for pushing your animal and traps that rearm themselves. Or just make a trap that outright kills the AC. I mean just because it gets evasions doesn't mean its going to say oh yes me now wanna trigger all traps.

I think this really boils down to what his tenets are or what he believes in. That should dictate what he thinks of casual one night stands. Or if hes following more of a chased pliosphie(sorry i cant spell to save my life). From what i have heard about the god he servers he would or should be more of the chased viriaty. So i would have a talk with the player and see what his tenets are and go from there. This will help with all other aspects of him possible falling as well.

I don't see anything wrong with casual sex. As long as it doesn't go against his tenets of his faith. If for what ever reason it does then he need to find something else to do with his free time.

As for me I am playing a Paladin or Torag who loves to get drunk every night. With friends is better but alone is fine. And we have a Cleric of the god i don't remember but is all for sex and stuff. So shes more or less a prostitute. So when the feeling hits me, if she will have me i sleep with her that night. We have it all worked out that's its just sex between us. Tho we might be good friends too. She sleeps with well just about anyone and i will from time to time sleep with others as well and neither of us mind. And i see no reason why i should fall from grace for this relationship either. It works out for both our benefits. Tho its hard to stay stocked up in boose but i do my best. If i need to bring a cart full of kegs then i do.

You know that's a great idea. I should really show my dm my appreciation for all he has done and his great gaming skills. I think he could use more Bestiary. I know hes lacking some so i will get him one or two that he is missing so we can fight cooler monsters or die from cooler monsters. Either one works really.
Thanks for the idea guys :).

I really like this build idea. If my Paladin dies i just might give this a try if my DM has no problems with it. Tho i think it would be even more awesome if your race was giant something, like hill giants or even ogre. But not all DM will allow that sort of thing. But it would rock for rock throwing :) hehe.
When you go fighter. Are you a strait up fighter or an archetype?

Ok I'm alittle confused. I get mostly what your saying Marshmallow. Tho i don't have the books so i cant read any of the rules. But i cant and don't get where it says that Celestial plate is med armor because it is magic vs say material. I have read it and read it again and again. It just doesn't say how its made into med armor. But if i missed something please help me to see where i missed it.
Now if it is magical i would agree that Mithral would knock it down to light armor in that case.

With the group i play with, only one is an old friend who i played with when i was a teen. He gives me rides to and from game and we talk about the game, our chars and other stuff on the ride. The others i meet in the past couple of years. Tho we get along well i don't do anything with them out of game because i cant drive and i live to far away to get rides (which really sucks because i want to do things with some of them). If my DM ask how his game is going i will gladly tell him. But i was playing a Druid in our last campaign and thru my background he added my parents who i had to save my mom which was part of the big plot hook. Plus i was married with 3 kids to a dragon and one of our players got to meet them all. So i like my DM's style right now.
If i asked for feedback on my game I'm running and no one replies or gives a vague answer i would get upset as well. I don't know how i would fix it but as far as player background go i would ask for them to flesh it out more and ask them to give you feedback on what they want to get out of the game from there backgrounds because your going to add some twists and hooks that deal with backgrounds and you need there help. If they cant do that much for you. I would start thinking of dropping the game.
I wish i lived close to you. I would love to play in your game. As is i only get to play once a month if I'm lucky right now.

Ok the way i see it as you got Necromancers who either love to play with the dead and raise them, or whom destroy the dead. So my question is.
If you got a Necromancer who raises dead. are they by default a necrophilia? Second question. If you lost your loved one and became a Necromancer to bring them back to life and the gods had no problem with you doing so. Would you be considered weird or a freak for doing it, or would you be accepted?

On a side note, They drop so many nasty and evil diseases and virus already. I wouldn't want to think of what kind of STD's they could drop on the world.

I have no problem with running an evil PC with a mostly good group or vise verse. But i never have in any of my games. Not because i won't allow it but because i haven't run into a group or player that would play with the group rather than vs the group. When i have been asked i knew the player and i knew there would be pvp involved and i wanted to avoid that. I must say tho. The group i play with now i can see my self letting it happen because they are a good group and more than seem like they can handle it with out picking fights or trying to kill each others.

I would say yes its necrophilia. I understand they might be Undead vs dead, dead. But to me it doesn't change the definition to me. Just because a Vampire or say Lich says yes and so does the living person doesn't change the fact its a dead/undead body your doing your panty party with.
I would have to say that the Druid wouldn't lose any powers or anything. Like people have said death is part of nature so sex with the dead is just a disgusting part of nature non the less. Now if we start talking about rapping the undead it might be a different story. But really why would you want to rape undead?
On my world i have a island full of undead and vampires so sex with the undead isn't unheard of. Plus you can find brothels around my world that offers the service of sex with the dead/undead for the right price. At least your less likely to get an STD. Tho i like the idea someone said about a cult that brings they dead back as undead to spend a few days with there loved ones while they wait for there finally decision for after life. I'll have to add that to my world so whom ever came up with that idea. Thank you a lots :)

Max you can get is bracers of armor +8 which is 8 t words AC. You then have to figure if you can buy mithril armor that will give you more ac thru armor plus dex then you can get thru bracers of armor and Dex. buy which ever will give you more armor. tho you might have to save up to buy them or buy a lesser until you can afford the greater.

Bah grow them thru sheer force of will. There is no other way to grow a proper set of arms than that. And if your gm says no, kick him in his teeth. That will fix him up good :)

In a world with magic around every corner i don't find it hard to believe someone grew 2 new arms, with wizards and all sorts of others who could do it. But them picking up and firing 2 bows all of a sudden i find hard to believe.
The game world makes me believe anything is possible with magic. But not everything is probable.

If the person in question was born with 4 arms i guess i could see them using 2 bows to fire at once or close enough to it. But if you just happened to gain 2 new arms i would say NO. They said in midevil England they started training long bowmen from childhood so think how long it would take to learn to master using 2 bows at once. So just gaining 2 new arms shouldn't let you use 2 bows.
