Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel swings wildly at the flaming skull nearest her, bringing her sickle to bear down on the burning spirit.

Sickle: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

"Oh no, not these fire spirits again!"

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Dusting herself off after her descent, Ravel looks around. "If this is where the elevator fell... we should begin looking for bodily remains..." She kneels and begins to slowly sift through debris, looking for the crushed Warden.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Strength to move debris: 1d20 ⇒ 5

Ravel raises an eyebrow as newcomers flood into the estate. She mutters, "Perhaps you had the right inkling, Terrance."

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Smiling, "Thank you. What is the nature of this news?" She inquires as she takes the offered chair.

Ravel dresses in her dark outfit, combing her hair and heading to the door as well. She looks to Terrance, "Are you in the habit of answering other peoples' doors so armed, Master Foehammer?"

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel kneels down to embrace Ake. "If you need us, you know where to find us." Standing she addresses the shopkeep. [b]"I will be back when I have more time. I would like to see what you have in the ways of sleeping elixirs or dream poultices... that is how I met the Professor in my youth, he was one of many of my bedside caretakers." [/ b]

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Smiling at the excitable little sorceress, "Jominda, have you any herbs or elixirs that would assist us in destroying spirits, haunts, or the creatures that refuse to accept the grave?"

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Is there a general list of what she has available?

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

"How very kind of you to offer such a generous discount."

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Before leaving, "You have much fonder memories than I, Ingrid. The herbs usually remind me of all the medicines my father had doctors and healers try in my youth to help me get past being mostly bed-ridden. Dill still makes my nose wrinkle."

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

"I could use some fresh air, tonight. Terrance, you seem to have Jorfa's favor, perhaps we could place our order this evening and pick them up tomorrow in case she does not have all we need on hand? It will give us a chance to check up on the townsfolk too. I am certain there are questions they will have for us."

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Once home, Ravel retires to her room to change. She examines the bruises the chains left before she puts on her brown and umber outfit. Tying her hair up with a ribbon, she returns to the parlor, letting Narcissa flit about.

"The spirits know we are seeking to sever their tether to the living world... we are going to need all the help we can get. It is not just us caught in this crossfire, but all of the townsfolk. I think that our next objective should be returning the Warden's belongings to his wife so she can help keep the prisoners held back while we continue our investigation... What does everyone think?"

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel starts to chastise Ioann but stops herself. At least he is trying... She sighs. "I cannot say what his intentions were... I was trapped in a nightmare vision with him. When the spirit's attacks were too much for me, The Charlatan stepped in while I was on the brink of death. In my vision he first appeared as a youthful priest claiming I had been dead some time..." her voice softens as she recalls his false news. "He said that friends were all slain or scattered... I did not want to believe him but when I could not sense Narcissa I fell for his lies... it was horrible, Ioann. I... I don't have many people that I consider friends. To lose them would devastate me." idly she rubs the bruises on her neck and wrists. She kneels down, "It is nice to have a familiar face in this strange circumstance." Quickly, before he can brush her away, Ravel kisses the top of Ioann's head before she stands and turns back to join the others.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

After ensuring the townsfolk are tended to, Ravel walks to find Ioaan. Seeing him slumped against a wall she approaches slowly. "Thank you for saving me from Father Charlatan and the fire..."

Ravel walks to the injured man, assuming him to be Mr. Ghoroven. "There, there. Rest now until my friends can aid you." Slumber Hex. DC 14 Will Save.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel starts to retort, then thinks better of it. She abandons her efforts to save the burning building, and tries to check on the townsfolk already outside. "Is everyone all right? Does anyone need help?"

Still shocked, Ravel mumbles, "My knight in shining impenetrable emotional armor..." Unable to help with the fire, Ravel attempts to repair the structural damage to the building slowly. She makes a fist as she whispers in Giant, mending the door frame. "Opraviť"

Mend: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel is much too stunned to protest.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Is the stone magical permanently or only for the next 24 hours?

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Idly, Ravel holds the amethyst stone in her palm, a stone that matches her left eye. She nods slowly as she replies to Uklod. "Yes... yes I think I am okay, just a bit out of breath from the Charlatan's ghostly grip..." It dawns on her that the meeting hall is still aflame. "We have to get everyone outside! And ourselves." She tucks the stone into her belt pouch as she helps her small bat up on her shoulder.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel manages a smile, "Yes he seems his usual self... where did the glass come from? ... Is everyone from town okay?" She slowly stirs and tries to rise. "What can I do to help?" She goes to rub the bruises that the ethereal chains left upon her body.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Between coughs, tears well from Ravel's eyes both from smoke and trauma. "Narcissa!" her eyes dart about. "Ioann? Where is Ioann? He said Ioann was slain...." her frantic gaze falls to Ingrid standing over her. "It was the Charlatan... whatever you did.... it really ticked him off..."

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel will help Father Grimburrow, but otherwise there is not much she can do besides helping others to escape.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel smiles, trying to remain calm. "Thank you, Ake, dear. Could you do that again?" She looks about the panicked throng. "Father, do you have any way to quench these flames?" Ravel's grip on Narcissa's cage tightens as she tries to calm her tiny friend, and herself.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

As Ravel steps closer to the fire nearest her and Ake, she draws another haunt siphon from her pouch, twisting the casing and holding it aloft, hoping that these sudden pyrotechnics are vulnerable to the siphon.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel smiles at Ioann, then addresses the man in the crowd. "No, we are not certain. There are restless spirits that linger on in the land of the living, there is absolutely nothing certain about that. But what I do know is that we are going to try, and do all within our power to keep these forces at bay, or to dissolve their effects. If in any way we can protect this town from harm we will do so," Ravel's smile fades a bit, "And for the skeptics out there, would you rather risk your own lives in facing these evils or let outsiders stand in harm's way? If we succeed, you stand to gain much. If we fail, you do not need to mourn our loss."

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

As the sun sets, Ravel folds her parasol and settles in with the group. She once more wears her purple and blue peasant's ensemble, ensuring that her holy symbol is prominently displayed Desnan-side-out. Ravel returns smiles and scowls with a bright smile of her own, trying to stay the gathering of torches and pitchforks for another night.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel waits to exit last, keeping her floating orb of light behind the others to not blind them.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

"I am not certain if he will show himself. We know that this haunted prison holds many restless dead, but all we have to go off of is one trapped ghost's story about other spirits... it is very difficult to determine what the probably cause of events should be. If the Father will not manifest, perhaps we should go to the meeting and address the situation later tonight. It could be as simple as daylight keeping him at bay."

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

"If we head back into town with a corpse there is no chance of anyone aiding us ever again... It isn't as if they are unaware of the bodies here, they fully know that there are still remains inside, but Harrowstone as a whole has been forgotten. They try to overlook and ignore the dark stain on their past. Yes, it is terribly frustrating that every other spook within these walls have made their presence uninvited and the spirit we seek out is silent. We know his shade remains, but we are going to have to find what will draw him out... because apparently walking right out into your eternal demise does not bode well with the false priest. These ghosts are smart, or at least smarter than the boogey-bumps we have faced off against so far."

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Ravel tries to read the journal, then too grows frustrated. "Damn the impatience of men!"

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Stepping into the room, Ravel looks over the book for magical properties before picking it up to examine it closer.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel's hand reaches up to rub the back of her own holy symbol, her taloned thumb grazing the hidden visage like a worry-stone. "For those with divine graces, be ready to pray."

Well maybe we're just going through the motions as ghosts because we haven't realized it yet... til another century passes and adventures come seeking Our aid...

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel whispers, conjuring another witchlight to dance behind the party, trying to shed some light on the room within.

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

"Guardsman Foehammer has replicated a map of the prison, can you please show us where the Father resides?"

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Did we bring the holy symbols?

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel lowers and stows her parasol once they reach the prison. "What is our plan for this trip inside?"

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

"It should go without saying, but unless it specifically comes up, I don't think we should offer up the information about our nightly forays into the prison." Ravel leans forward, "These maps will be very useful. Have you started a tally of how many doors Ioann has destroyed?"

Female Changeling (Green Widow) Witch (Dreamweaver)/2 HP: 9/9

Ravel looks up from her own book with a growing smile. "So clearly you suggest a preemptive strike? We will gather torches and pitchforks and bring our small mob to the meeting to run the entire population out of town? ... No? Well then perhaps we should just attend the meeting and hear some of the conjecture we have missed out on."

Jumping is sure helped by a running start, but there seems to be evidence it's possible without one, given the existence of the NBA.

Not so much much in P2, as far as I can tell, and I really hope I missed something...

So attacks with Knockdown just work, regardless of size, strength, #of legs, any of that.

This seems clearly wrong.

Push, much the same.

Very much not appreciating these kinds of rules.

So I've got a fair number of NPCs to make, a mix of normal races with levels and monsters with levels. I like things that can be reused, so I'd like to do them in a format easily shared with other folks and sites like d20pfsrd.com, and I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions.

2 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

We're running a Pirates! game. Stopping fleeing ships has come up a few times, thus the anchor token. But how does it actually *work*? Is it a force that makes the ship stop for up to 24 hours? Can it be ended early? Is the ship now an immovable object?

Or is it a real, physical anchor, that moors the boat and lasts for 24 hours? If so, how many HPs? Hardness? Can you pick it up with your insane strength and bludgeon someone with it?

Anyone have any die rolling utilities they find particularly great?

What I'm looking for is something I can use to generate results for many attacks at once, so I can run large groups of creatures quickly.

Ideally, something that would let me save my configuration.

Say I'm humanoid (in form, if not actual type) with a slam attack. I put on an adamantine gauntlet. Is my slam now adamantine, ignoring hardness?

If you add the half-dragon template to something with natural slam attacks, how does the addition of the claw/claw/bite interact with the pre-existing slam attack(s)?

Does it now have claw, claw, bite, no slam?

Claw, claw, bite, slam, slam?

Something else?

Does anyone know of any way to increase or decrease the size of non-humanoids without changing their form? As far as I can tell, both Enlarge Person and Reduce Person only work on, well, *people*. Righteous Might seems like it's the only option to enbiggen a nonhumanoid without form changing, and there doesn't seem to be any way to shrink one.

I'm building a 15th level character for our new Beta
game, which will be using the tournament module Crypt of
the Devil-Lich. Any suggestions for a Dragon Disciple build?
One feat will be going to Leadership (we're only 3 PCs,
need a little more meat), and we've got rolled stats (*high*
rolled stats, around the Epic Fantasy point-buy level). Only
material we can use is Paizo created Pathfinder stuff, so no
WoTC expansion books. Other than that, no real plan yet.

C'mon, I know y'all have opinions, and this is the Internet, for
$DEITY sake. Share them!

So, we're starting a Pathfinder Beta playtest using some
tournament module called Crypt of the Devil-Lich. I'm
probably building a Dragon Disciple, and I'm wondering if
anyone has any thoughts about spell selection for the 13
caster levels of sorcerer spells I'll have.

I've looked around in the forums, and can't seem to find
an answer.

Just how does the Necromancy school power work?

Automatically controlling 8 HD of undead / level
seems too good.

Having it only replace the 4 HD / level limit from
Animate Dead seems too bad. If that's the case, then
it's a school power that doesn't work at all for several
levels, which seems wrong, and it still leaves necromancers
with the problem that any random cleric can come along
and steal the necromancer's undead, with the necromancer being
unable to even try and get them back.

Could we please get a little clarification from a developer?

One of the things I've never cared for in higher-level D&D 3.5
play is the scry - buff - teleport combo. I was hoping to see this
addressed in Pathfinder, but no luck so far.

So I'm working on my own fix, and in classic D&D fashion,
I believe the way to fix some slightly b0rk3n spell combos
is - add more spells!

Right now, I've just got drafts of the Scry related spells,
but I plan on a Teleport Alarm, Block, Trace, and Redirect
sequence as well.

As a side note, I'd forgotten how much I hate web forums; I must
*really* like this Pathfinder RPG idea to actually be contemplating
discussions on one of these things. If anyone's interested, I'm
also checking out what people think in the D&D newsgroup,
rec.games.frp.dnd - if anyone who wants check out Usenet and
doesn't know how (Google groups is easy, but certainly not the
best way), let me know and I'll see if I can help.

Anyway, comments on spells appreciated.

Scry Ward

Abjuration
Level: Brd 3, Clr 5, Drd 4, Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S, M/DF, F
Casting Time: 1 hour
Range: Creature(s) or Object(s) touched
Area: 40' radius; see text
Effect: Magical ward aginst divinations
Duration: 1 hour/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless, object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless, object)

Scry ward creates a magical screen against divinations, automatically defeating any divinations
of a lower level.

Divinations of the same level require an opposed caster level check between the caster of the
divination spell and the caster of Scry Ward.

Scry ward is not effective against divinations of a higher level

The caster may ward one creature or object per 2 caster levels. Alternatively, an area or structure
of up to 40' radius may be warded

Arcane Material Component

The eye of a hawk, an eagle, or a roc, plus salt.

Wizard, Sorcerer, or Bard Focus

An item of finely wrought silver, iron, and lead costing not less than 1,000 gp.
When warding a structure or area, inlaid designs using silver, iron, and lead
not costing less than 1,000 gp

Cleric Focus

A holy water font costing not less than 100 gp.

Druid Focus

A sprig of holly.

Scry Ward, Greater

Abjuration
Level: Brd 6, Clr 7, Drd 7, Sor/Wiz 7
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Creature(s) or Object(s) touched, 1 per 2 caster levels
Effect: Magical ward aginst divinations
Duration: 1 day/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless, object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless, object)

This spell functions like scry ward, except as noted above.

I've gotten together a small playtest group for Pathfinder;
we've got a wizard, rogue, and fighter. Been fun thus
far, but it looks like Web got nerfed (which is probably OK,
really). Not sure how it works now though- do you need to
make a save when you are in the Web area even if it's not
on the round is was cast? I certainly hope so, as I don't
want giant magic spider webs to be something you can just
walk through.
