Unlike some of her companions, Shohiraj doesn't revel in the death of an adversary, and is particularly disturbed by 322's evil glee. Still, that doesn't stop her from looting the dead and stealing the key, and she presses the others to make good on an escape.

Shohiraj's speed returns to normal. Following 322's suggestion she jumps to flank Zey and smack him with her sap while he's distracted.

What happened with Shohiraj's ready action attack last round? Was Zey's 5' step able to avoid it?

Also, since the action Zey took was basically the same as before the retcon should I Reroll that will save? I'm thinking not, but figured I would check.

Gritting her teeth, Shohiraj succumbs to the slowing spell, and is further winded by his second spell. Not waiting for more magic to come her way, she slogs forward toward Zey, readying her sap.

Marnarius has a good point.
Also, before going invisible, Shohiraj dropped a smokestick (with the specific intent of preventing him from seeing and thus targeting everyone when the door opened). Would that help?

"I don't suppose any of you magic types have some way to dispel his magics?" Shohiraj asks. "What about another haste spell?"

Reaching into her pack, she pulls out a smokestick. Breaking it, she fills the hallway near the door with smoke. "Hopefully he can't use magic if he can't see us, right?" She whispers as she grabs her potion of invisibility and drinks it.

"I'm ready." Her voice whispers.

EF: Concerning the fire snake spell, should it really be able to twist around into areas the caster can't see? Shohiraj specifically pulled one door closed to get full cover, and it seems the projected image is off to the side a little, which would make it really hard to see any of the square Shohiraj and Rataji are occupying. Even if he makes the save, without that cover Rataji's toast. Maybe we could get the benefit of improved cover?

Improved Cover From the Combst Section:
In some cases, such as attacking a target hiding behind an arrowslit, cover may provide a greater bonus to AC and Reflex saves. In such situations, the normal cover bonuses to AC and Reflex saves can be doubled (to +8 and +4, respectively). A creature with this improved cover effectively gains improved evasion against any attack to which the Reflex save bonus applies. Furthermore, improved cover provides a +10 bonus on Stealth checks.

After Rataji casts his spell, she pulls him back behind the door and reaches for a potion at her side. "This is healing. I suggest you get back on your feet before going toe to toe with Zey."

Stepping away from the Chameleon, she flanks the Lizard and smacks it over the head with her sap.

That's the first good idea that man has had.

"A distraction would be very useful. Two would be even better. Joliryn, do you have another one of those invisibility spells? I could go open the cage, then try to turn the guard's attention away from the rest of you while you sneak past."

Assuming invisibility, either through Joliryn or through Shohiraj's own potion, let's get the ball rolling.

Shohiraj invisibly approaches the sphinx's cage and works the lock.

Damn inferior lockpick. Good thing no one could see that. Would make this look like amateur hour.

Once the lock is picked, Shohiraj returns to her companions and aids them in slipping past the guards during the distraction.

"Help! The sphinx got free!" She calls from down a side passage to get the guards attention.

Should be able to auto-aid stealth checks to give everyone a +2 bonus. Here's also a personal stealth check (with the +20 invisibility bonus). Shohiraj also has the rogue ability fast stealth to move around quickly if needed.

To Marnarius' question, she shakes her head. "Beasts are not my specialty."

"We have the keys, so perhaps I can don an appropriate disguise and bluff our way down on some sort of pretense. Anyone not good at playing a role might benefit from invisibilty, assuming Jolyrin can do that trick again."

Shohiraj wanders the area near Janira, looking for guards, patterns, of movement, and generally planning out the best way to get the keys from the Halfling.

This one is too eager for chaos. Shohiraj thinks as she watches Marnarius head for the menagerie. It is a good thing he was the one who volunteered to enter the Tapestry.

Shohiraj was hoping Rataji would offer a professional plan, but when she notices Agent 322 slip out of the room and enter the crowds, she decides scouting the area is good idea. Shouldering her haversack, she says to others, "I'm going to see about that key. If any of you have experience with invisibility magic, that would make the job a lot easier. Oh, and we should have a rendezvous point. I suggest this place as a primary location. As a secondary location, perhaps that statue near Skyreach." She points out the window at the statue of Durvin Gest.

Out in the crowds...

"Breaking into the vaults could be done with time and the right tools." Shohiraj says from near the curtains, one finger holding them open a crack to watch the crowd outside. "But even with a good distraction, we don't have time for that, so we will need to acquire the keys. Normally they are carried by the Master of Scrolls, Kreighton Shaine, but I have been informed that he has delegated several of them to one of his proteges, a halfling Storyteller named Janira Gavix." Stepping to a table, she produces a slip of parchment from her sleeve, places it down and taps a sketch of the halfling drawn on it. "We find her, I lift them, and maybe we slip quietly into Skyreach."

Shohiraj arrived to the meeting in nondescript clothes of grey and brown with a worn haversack on her back like a simple traveler. Obviously it was a disguise meant to allow her to vanish into dark corners or a common crowd of citizens.

"Psst! Hey, Amiri! Kyra! I think you should hide before they get here!"

Ezren will offer (mostly useless) suggestions to help set the decoy, then place some bushes over the entrance to the cave and hide within.

Ezren listens to Ulisha with a shrewd look upon his face.

"You have already made a camp. If the assassins are near, they have likely seen your campfire smoke. Let us draw them in with a decoy. Your cloak, pack, a bedroll, and some strategically placed extra clothes and perhaps some donated hair would make a suitable replacement. We place it there, as if resting beside your fire, and we watch from the darkness of the cave. Perhaps placing some light brush to conceal the entrance."

Ezren looks around warily. All the talk of assassins has created an itchy feeling on Ezren's back and has reminded him of a lesson he was taught long ago by an elderly wizard.

No matter how good the wizard, a knife between the shoulderblades will seriously cramp their style.

Getting out a scroll, he casts a mage armor spell.

"Is it prudent to be standing here like this? I mean, out in the open? That cave looks like a much better place to continue our chat."

So that's not a great roll, but would it be enough to know that spiders are vermin, and therefore immune to mind-effecting magic such as sleep? If so, I'd warn Lem not to waste his spell.

Ezren listens to his companion's knowledge of the situation in silence, and throws a frown at Amiri's comment.

"Savage..." He mutters deadpan, though after all the group as been through it might just be one of the first signs of camaraderie from the older man.

"I will prepare for spiders."

Ezren dismisses his grease spell and follows after Amiri.

Amiri, since Ezren goes first in initiative and removes the grease area you might be able to move and attack this round.

On mobile - cannot edit position on map (and wasn't able to move it last round either. Current position should be about 4 squares behind Amiri).

With two arrows now stuck in him Ezren hustles up the path to join Kyra, Lini, and Amiri. Kyra's healing magic flows over him just as he arrives and some of the paleness leaves his concerned face.

"My thanks, Kyra. That arrow had my name on it."

@Amiri: you were wearing that bracelet we found, correct? That should have given you 15 temporary HP. That first barbarian hit should have taken out the bracelet and given you 1 damage. Kyra then healed everyone nearby for 4 HP, which brought you back to full. Lini's CLW wasn't needed yet. The last attack hit for 20, which brings you to -5, and if Lini's CLW is added now you are at 0 HP.

Ezren moves up the path, getting in range to cast a spell to grease the ground beneath the barbarian.
