Awwww.

Ah well. Thanks for the inspiration, Dragoncat, and good luck to you and your players. I'll just mosey on, now. :)

Anyone else getting goosebumps? I think I have goosebumps. :)

For a campaign like this, that more than makes sense.

Looking forward to seeing how the roster shapes up.

@Gita: I was wondering when a ganzi applicant would arrive. I would have been a bit disappointed if it didn’t happen. :)

I had been considering a Ganzi Skald (Undying World), but Rafi had a bit more appeal to me.

Apologies for the delay, but I finally got the Description/Personality write-up done for Rafi.

I've added it to the sheet, but here it is for easy access.

Spoiler:
Despite path that Rafi's life has gone, he carries a free-spirited, mostly positive outlook on life. It doesn't hurt that, despite his upbringing, he was usually treated well by those that mattered most. Most notable is his former master, who treated Rafi with respect, unlike many in the harsh lands of Katapesh. He also learned a strong sense of responsibility and right versus wrong, and he has done his best to apply those lessons as a deputy of the law.

Rafi is a well-built young Ifrit, if a little on the lanky side. While the markings of his heritage are not as obvious as many, there is little confusing him for a human. His skin tone has a mild orange tinge, and his deep red hair is wavy, if cut short (can't have it getting in the way of his new hat, after all). His yellow eyes are piercing and discerning, but have a kindness to them when directed to those who are deserving. His leather hand and trenchcoat were gifted to him by the Duchess when he was deputized, and are probably the most precious things he owns, next to his steed and loyal friend, Blaze.

Took longer to write than I expect, but here's the background for Rafi.

Background:
An outsider in a strange, alien place, Rafi did not grow up in the Wastes. He was born to a lowly human woman in Katapesh who could barely take care of herself, let alone a geniekin babe. There's a reason he doesn't remember his birth mother, and honestly can't be bothered. He never really knew her, since she sold him off as a slave shortly after birth.

Life as a slave was hard, though he was always gratful that his master was never cruel. He was a just and lawful master who worked as keeper of the peace. In fact, when Rafi was old enough, his master saw to it that he was not only trained to ride, but also how to wield a weapon. He was told that some day, he may have to protect himself. This was nothing new to him, as his heritage had always brought him scorn from others, often resulting in conflict. Despite this, he learned whatever he could with grateful acceptance. Eventually, a day came when he would need to use these skills.

His master's house was attacked in the night. Despite his best attempts to repell the attackers, his master forced his to flee on one of his best horses moments before he was killed. So Rafi made his way out of Katapesh, traveling through the country of Nex and into the Mana Wastes. He eventually found himself in the Grand Duchey of Alkenstar, and through unusual circumstances (and with the help of his horse, which he grew to call Blaze) he was able to stop a killer that was on the loose.

That was six months ago, and just recently he was deputized by the Grand Duchey of Alkenstar, at which point he was given the chance to take a surename. Though, he loves nothing more than to spend his time wandering the wastes with his horse and protecting those that need it.

Just realized that there is a Herolab mod for this Feat tax rule set. I’ll be updating my stat block to reflect the difference.

Also, I didn’t mention it before, but I’m seriously considering delving into the Shieldmarshal Prestige class with Rafi. Thinking that it would both fit his character, and provide some great RP in-game.

Ah... I see what you mean, now.

Doesn't seem to immediately provide any new feats, but it's a nice little addition.

@Raltus: For the record, we're using these feat tax rules to make things a bit easier on players.

I keep forgetting to have a look at this document. Need to see if there is anything that applies to Rafi.

Ok. Finally got something together. This is the submission for Blaydsong.

Introducing Rafi Coleman, Ifrit Spellscar Drifter, and recently deputized lawman for the Grand Duchy of Alkenstar (and his trusty steed, Blaze).

I'll flesh him out a bit more in the next day or two.
