Pyros dismounts and draws his dueling sword, beginning a weaving a network in the air in front of him.
"We have been traveling for some time. A hot meal and a real bed sounds excellent." Pyros says, before looking around at the others. "In the morning, we can meet again and decide on our next steps."
"It could also be that the centaurs believe the men they've had trouble with to be affiliated with Varn's hold, and not independent actors. We should endeavor to clear that up if we have a chance."
Indeed! Just about food-coma time over here.
”We are yes. Here, she gave us these to explain the situation. I am Pyros Aldori, these are Daxiana, Elaina, Gaxi, Ikit, Raok, Cassia, and Maerik.” he says, passing the man Lady Jamandi’s papers and introducing the group in turn.
Pyros steps up next to Daxiana and smiles down at the boy. "We are an odd group, but they are not prisoners. They are allies. Please stable my horse as well." he says, and tosses the boy a gold piece.

Pyros nods as the others speak, then removes the documents from Lady Jamandi Aldori and rides slowly forward. "Here is our authorization from Lady Jamandi Aldori."
Belated Knowledge roll:
"No need to apologize, that's more than the rest of us knew." Pyros says with a shake of his head.
”I’m….not sure I want to know.” says Pyros, after a moment pondering the question.
Pyros's eyes widen as he reaches to take the book. His hand lingers a moment on hers as he says "Piret, that is so kind. I will read it as soon as I get the chance. I wish I had something so thoughtful to give you in return. I hope we'll see each other again, when our little baronies are more established." He smiles warmly as he withdraws the book and stows it carefully with the papers Lady Jamandi had given him.
"I suspect that a different...clan wanted whatever these poor folks had." Pyros says, while surveying the wreckage. Then he moves closer, to see if there is any indication of who these people were, or if anything useful can be salvaged from the wreckage. He keeps a hand on his sword hilt, just in case.
Pyros accepts the sheaf of letters gracefully and stows them carefully. "You have my word, Lady Jamandi, that we will resolve the situation as best we can, hopefully peacefully. We should probably be off quickly, before the Dragonscale Throne or other malefactors get wind of this any more than they already have."
"Centaurs would be an interesting challenge, I suppose. I have never dueled a quadruped."
"Lady Aldori! Please, I know who arranged this attack. The vile king of Pitax, Irovetti! What's more, I know who among us works for him..." After a dramatic pause, Tartuccio points at Harter. "You! Show everyone the ring you are wearing! You think I wouldn't recognize the seal of Irovetti? That's why he wasn't killed -- the bandits recognized him as one of their own by his signet ring!" You seem awfully certain. It seems to me there are many ways one might have such a ring. If he were working for Irovetti, why would he wear his ring openly? And anyway, a man of mister Harter's vocation seems quite an odd choice to get involved in betrayal and subterfuge."
Pyros nods when Daxiana points out the leader. As he begins to head that way, he says "Someone tell the kobold to save some fire for that frost giant." then charges in, dueling sword weaving defensive patterns before him.
Dueling sword drawn, Pyros looks around for another way to reach the feast hall. "Does anyone see a path?" he asks the others.
"Say, that dwarf's holy symbol, is that what I think it is?" Pyros says, quietly to Piret. To the group as a whole, he says "While I have spent my life studying the blade, and am not sure that I desire the distracting tedium of a title, it seems only natural for a member of the Swordpact to lead one of these expeditions, organized as they are by Lady Jamandi. I am willing to serve in that capacity."
Pyros is also cG for these purposes. He worships Milani. More than anything, he wants to be free of the Dragonscale Throne's boot. But that doesn't mean he just does random things for the fun of it. Also, the Aldori determine hierarchy (and presumably leadership) through sword duels. Yes, they follow a code, but that strikes me as a rather chaotic way to run an organization. (Though, checking the Pathfinder wiki, most canonical members of the Swordpact are LN or True Neutral. [shrug].)
Pyros has little to add, the idea seems straightforward enough to him. Kill the bandit, build a new state. Though of course, building a state was a ball of worms in and of itself. Even so, he feels moved to speak up. ”Surely not all of us desire rule. A mage might want a friendly government who would permit his esoteric research, a priest might wish to expand his faith’s following in this land, a merchant would surely desire a new state to open trade with, etc. Being on good terms with whoever takes the barony of this new Aldori state would bring benefits even to those who do not hold the barony themselves, I would think.”
Pyros nods along as lady Jamandi speaks, noticing how she speaks of Restov and Rostland, not Brevoy. Of course! A new homeland for the Swordpact, free of Brevic domination! Maybe even one that will eventually be able the support Rostland in freeing itself. This is the chance we've hoped for since the Valley of Fire! The opportunity of a lifetime! He can's help the determined smile that spreads across his features.
Pyros follows Piret to the commotion, more out of curiosity and a lack of any other pressing direction to go than anything else. After listening for a bit, he says "Whoever ends up selected, we, well, perhaps they, may want to make a point of learning draconic. It would be a bad idea to risk a miscommunication in the middle of a fight."
A capybara is a rodent that small cavaliers have as an option for their mount. Also, despite its name, a goblin dog is a type of rodent, and goblins ride them. Just a couple of other options to think about.
"Intriguing. I've devoted my life to the blade, which leaves little time for higher learning. But if I had the time, I would like to have studied history. I've always been fascinated by the tales of the Fifth Army of Exploration that first settled this land. I suppose that's part of why I signed up, to learn by doing, as it were." he says, with a small shrug. "But I think you're wrong about this being a job for soldiers. I mean, it is that. But it's much more than just that I'm sure. A warrior is useless without weapons, and the smith who makes them needs someone to mine the ore, and they all need food, clothing, shelter, etc. An expedition of any size will doubtless need people of many skillsets, that's even truer if we find untamed land to settle and need to build a town." He pauses, looking rather sheepish Well, that was a bit of a rant. Maybe let her talk, huh?
The ways people might know Pyros are both incredibly restricted and wide open. He spends most of his time working on his bladework, if you aren’t dealing with the Swordpact in some capacity, there’s little reason you’d have encountered him ‘professionally’. But then again, anyone could have randomly encountered him on the street, or seen one of his duels, or sold him some goods, etc etc. He’s a young, promising, but not particularly accomplished duelist. So if you saw him fighting he probably did well, might or might not have won, but was probably the equivalent of an undercard fight, going up against some other relatively nobody (or maybe someone who used to be somebody but is past his prime), not one of the top champion duelists.
I believe our wise, magnanimous, and handsome GM did say he would allow character revisions early on. No reason not to add it!
A dark-haired young man of about twenty years enters the scene. He wears unremarkable but practical clothing, has dark hair, and stands just over average human height. The one very noticeable thing about him is the Aldori dueling sword sheathed at his hip.
As he makes his leisurely way around the room, he takes in the sights. A motley crew indeed. A dwarf. A kobold, a half-elf and...that woman has the look of nobility, but I can't place her. Is that a large rat? Oh, she's lovely. Eventually, he makes his way over to the blonde half-elf and attempts to strike up a conversation. [b}"You don't look a warrior, ma'am, if you don't mind my saying so. Have you come instead for exploration, and discovery?"[/b] Pyros asks. Belatedly, he extends his hand, adding
Woohoo! Let's go!
Here's Ouachitonian's submission. Background and sheet in the alias. I intend to take him straight through as a fighter the whole way, but there's a chance I might divert into the Aldori Swordlord prestige class (I think I like the fighter archetype better, though). Pyros doesn't *want* to be baron per se, but he does want to found a new state for the Aldori outside of Brevoy's control, and this expedition's being organized by the Aldori, so if he's the only swordlord in the party, he would see himself as the natural choice. Submitting to the rule of non-Swordlords is how we got into this mess, after all. But I could also see him taking other roles, like General or Marshal, if another candidate convinces him there's good reason not to have a Swordlord in charge. It's *possible* I could decide to lean into the Milanite side of his character and go for the Evangelist or Sentinel prestige classes. But that's unlikely. Depends on how the game develops.

Pyros is a young member of the Aldori Swordpact, recently returned home after years abroad in Rostland training. He is more skilled than the average fighter, but mostly he's a fighter.
Backstory:
Pyros is a third generation crusader on one side of his family, second on the other. He always knew that fighting to hold back the demons was his destiny. As a boy he was amazed and enthralled by the skill of an Aldori swordsman, one who had been sent to Mendev as punishment after a failed rebellion against the Rogarvias. Young Pyros was so impressed that he asked the man to teach him, and eventually decided he would travel to Rostland and learn the ways of the Aldori for himself. Why Kenabres:
It's his hometown. Now that he's a full member of the Swordpact, he decided to return home and put his skills to use. The Worldwound is full of demons that need killing. crunch: The full crunch is in the alias. But he's a Fighter (Aldori Defender/Steelbound) VMC Magus. His sword will attain sentience at 5th and eventually be able to do some spellcasting, even. VMC Magus gives him additional magical abilities So he's sort of a magical fighter, but only a little. Enough to give him options. He's aiming for the Aldori Swordlord Prestige class.

Ok, so...I was thinking about how many Kingdom positions we have unfilled, and also about building something with an animal companion, because it fits the theme, and I had kind of a wild idea: can I take Leadership or Monstrous Companion and have an Awakened Animal cohort? It would be useful enough as a flank buddy in combat (though likely actually less capable than a normal AC, given that it wouldn't get all the bonuses an AC does), and it could also fill one of the kingdom roles. After all, who would expect that the unremarkable stray dog that wanders the capital's streets is actually the kingdom's Spymaster? Having a talking animal on the High Council feels like it fits the Druidic Realm theme too. Thoughts, Questions, Comments? Edit: I know that at some point Leadership would give other low-level followers, they can be just, like, notional bureaucrats in whatever department I'm heading or something. I'm not worried about them.
So after thinking it over, I think I'm going to go a different way. I like the Druidic Realm vibe y'all have going on and Pyros doesn't really fit that. So...what does the party need, and what Kingdom roles are open? Not saying I'm open to absolutely anything, but I'll try to build something I like that fills a need. Probably something more nature focused like a Hunter, Ranger, Druid, etc, though trying not to overlap with what the party already has any more than I have to.

Hey folks. I’ve recently gone back to school, flight school. I’m hoping to be an airline pilot in a few years. I knew it would take a lot of commitment, but now that it’s underway I realize the commitment is going to be significantly more than I even realized. As much as I enjoy it, I’m not going to have time for gaming for a while. Maybe I can come back in a year or so when I’m done training and just trying to build up my hours. (I’m not asking you to hold a spot for me, to be clear), but for now I have to step away. It’s been fun, and I’ll miss it, but real life has to come first. I want this career, and in the short term that’s going to require some sacrifices. Hope I see y’all around some time. Best of luck, and happy gaming. This is one I especially hate to leave because of the larger role my character has. If y’all want him to step back and rule in the background as an NPC I’m good with that. But if not I totally get it.
Pyros sighs and shakes his head at Reg’s manner. He then steps forward to speak with the traveler. ”Ours is a new and growing town, and we’ve yet to set up heralds to announce famous visitors, much less the sort of outriders who might know by sight the names and reputations of renowned foreign personages such as yourself., and relay news of your coming to town in time for us to arrange a reception.” he says, not quite bowing, but inclining his head to Narthropple. ”I do hope that when next you travel this way we will have had the time and prosperity to grow into the sort of city which can afford such services.”
Pyros leans into it, giving it all he can.
"Faerin, any chance you could calm those other horses?" PYros shouts, in between grunts of effort as he tries to keep the wagon from washing away.
Pyros wants to go after Tartuccio, but he only allows himself one last glare in the kobold's direction before moving to help the gnomes instead.
