Thanks for checking my character out, I hope you have a great adventure. If you find yourself in the need for a scrappy coming of age sorcerer let me know.

Interwebs just ate my lengthy Character Concept post. So here goes again.

This is Prat, short for Prop Rat, a nick name given to him in the theaters of Magnimar. An orphan raised by a cranky old stage hand he was eventual taking in by the rising star Allishanda and he came to Sandpoint with her for the short run of "The Harpy's Curse". While in the town strange things started to happen around the boy and the superstitious nature of theater folk took over and two weeks after the festival the Entourage returned to Magnimar leaving the boy behind. At young age of 15 he is on his own in a strange place, Cyrdak takes pity on the boy and asks the Heroes of Sandpoint to take him on. (He likes the kid but he is a superstitious theater type himself.) The strange things happening to the boy are latent magical talents being awakened by the same strange things that are causing trouble in Sandpoint (like the Late Unpleasantness.)

Character would be a Sorcerer (Elemental: Fire bloodline) 1/ Trapsmith Rogue 2 (This represents not an official training with traps, but rather an understanding of mechanical devices gleaned from backstage theater work). I'd play the Sorcerer part as a new unfamiliar and untrained thing that is happening to him as the campaign moves along.

DM Wrath:

To represent wrath affecting the boy's magical lineage I think elemental fire is best, unless together we would like to create a Wrath Sin bloodline that might be interesting to develop in a Runelords game.

I am currently DM of a Runelords PBP here on the boards, but I promise not to use OOC Knowledge to spoil the fun/ story for anyone. Besides, it seems you have created a lot of things different than the traditional AP. I am also in a PBP for Legacy of fire that has been running over a year here on the boards.

I hope you like my concept, If you select me I will do the crunchy bits and put them into the profile to review. Thanks.

Here is how I updated Prat. He will continue to be and NPC in the storyline. I have recrutied someone to play a wizard. Lam-ang covers our fightng "riddle" covers our rouge so we need a healer and maybe another fighter type. I will post a recruting thread today.

Mythril DM

Prat figets restlessly as he waits but beams at the Riddle's praise. When Summer speaks he sticks his tounge out, or makes faces mocking her obvious discomfort, when she can't see but the others can.

Prat hustles into the manor and sees the others, "Wow! This place is fancy. Think we will get paid a bunch for doing this?"

Summer Grey wrote:
When Lam-ang starts discussing ghost hunting Summer says, "Might I remind you that we were payed to kill the dogs and that is all. However it does pay to do a job thouroughlly." She then turns to Prat and says "The burst of light did not hurt any of us in fact it seemed to hurt the dog somewhat. That would indicate that there may be a force that is trying to help us. Perhaps Tolin sent along a little more help then we know about."

Prat thinks about what Summer has to say and cautiously agrees, "Sure that sounds possible, but I still don't like witchcraft." Once again he makes a sign to ward off evil.

Summer Grey wrote:
Summer watches the strange behaviours of Prat, Elaine has never taught her much about superstition. Finally curiosity gets the better of her and she asks "Is there something wrong?"

"There must be something evil here! How else can you explain the mysterious dog and that sudden burst of light it caused."

As time passes and nothing else seems to happen Prat begins to calm down and revert to his normal self. At the mention of ghosts, Prats curiosity gets the better of him and he starts to get excited again, "I've never seen a ghost, do you really think there is one here?"

Shock seems to have stunned Prat. He is listless and unusually quite, eating only if food is put infront of him and going only where someone he trusts guides him. Other wise he spends the next several hours worried about the darkmagics that are at play here. Several times he spits over his right shoulder in a superstious ritual to ward off Grumpkins.

Prat slumps agains the side of the building looking off across the horizon at nothing in particular. Trying to control his fearfull panting he takes deep breaths and mutters, "Where did that flash come from? What witchery did that beast have?" He clasps his arms around his pulled up knees and rocks nervously as he starts to hum a common Elvish night song hoping to calm his frazzled nerves.

Prat shoves the blade of his rapier through the dog's eye to ensure the beast is dead before following the others to the rope and climbing to the roof.

Prat hears the elfs warning and sees him charge back into the battle. Determined not to be afraid the youth turns and thrusts his rapier straight for the beasts savage eyes.

Attack roll round 3 (1d20-2=15)

Damage Roll Round 3 (1d6=1)

Crap! It must have made it's save...Crap!

Prat shakes a confused look from his face and follows Lam-ang across the yard full tilt.

Prat trembles as the huge beast turns to glare at him. Sweat drips off his nose while he watches a reflection of himself in the dogs eye withdraw a blood smeared blade. A wave of fear floods through him and he softly utters an elvish curse, Chiarore! Prat is dumfounded as a burst of light brightly appears before the beasts eyes seemingly of its own accord.

Casting flare.

Prat trembles as the big dog advances and says, "That sounds like a very good idea Riddle."

Still holding my action ready to attack if any foe comes into melee range

Round 2 Damage Roll (1d6=3)

Initiative Vs. Feral Dogs (1d20+2=19)

Prat trembles with fear and anticipation as the dogs crawl out from under the porch. Grasping his rapier and shield tighter he waits for them to attack, ready to stab the first one that comes anywhere near to him.

Holding action until a dog comes into melee range

Lam-ang wrote:
Lam-ang whispers, "I favor circling the place before entering. It'll give us a better idea of what to expect."

Prat ignors Lam-ang and looks to Lance for instruction.

"So do we head right up to the front door and knock, or do we want to take a lap around the outside first?"

Luenevyn wrote:
"Belay that, Prat!" he calls to the boy. "Why don't you let me take point, and you can back me up with that shield of yours."

**Pouts**

"Well Lance...Riddle, I think it's about time we rounded up some dogs," Prat says trying to ignor the rumbling in his belly. He tucks the sack of rope off to the side of the gate, hidding it behind the overgrowth. The boy is an odd looking hero, a handaxe and club shoved in his belt while he firmly graps his rapier in one hand. In the other he akwardly trys to hoist the large wooden shield decorated with fake goldleaf and artifical jewels. "Are we ready to do this or shall we stay out here like scared little kittens?" He starts to slowly walk down the path scaning the sides for any signs of movement.

Spot check 1d20+5=7
Listen check 1d20+5=7

Prat drops the sack to the ground as the others arrive at the city gate to show off his procurments; three lenghts of rope, a club, and a handaxe. Hoisting up the wooden shield he hands it to Lam-ang saying, "I thought I could find one of these for you. It's not armor, but it should do to help keep you safe. You can have it if you promise not to hit me."

Once on the trail Prat starts of with wild exuberance, rushing ahead and calling back for the others to hurry up. Half way to the end of the road he starts to lag behind, nearly dragging the akward sack of ropes. He is often heard muttering, "Are we there yet?"

When they arrive at the gate he drops his sack and then himself to the ground and exclaim's, "About time, I'm hungry. Did anyone bring any food?"

Prat looks fairly comical lugging a bulging sack over his shoulder as he returns to the Dawn Gate looking for the others.

He calls out, "Lance... Riddle... are we ready to go?"

Prat quitely creeps through the Opera House gathering up the items he has found and shoving them into a canvas sack. He leaves a note for Johan that reads:

Johan, I am off on my first grand adventure. I barrowed some stuff from the work room to help me take care of a dog infestation. Wish me luck and I will see you soon. Prat

After tacking the note to Johans workbench, Prat hoists the bugling sack onto his shoulder and heads out to meet the others at the city gate.

Prat is obviously over stimulated by the prospect of being a real adventurer and geting paid such a large sum of money. Jumping up and down he says, "I've got an idea. I will be back in one hour with some stuff from the theater. Anyone who wants to go round up some mutts needs to be at the gate then so we can begin our quest." Prat takes off with out waiting for anyone to object and heads back to the Opera House to collect the items he has in mind.

For the DM:

Spoiler:
I will get as much spare rope as I can stuff into a large sack, my personal gear, enough clubs for everyone in the group (5), and anything that looks like it might be useful. {Props used on dogs, or by adventuring type play characters that may or may not work as well as the real thing.}

Search roll 1d20 +1 (Wis) = 16

Luenevyn wrote:

"I don't have a plan. It's dogs. Like I said, we go in, we kill 'em, we get paid. Pits and cages and traps and animal trainers? If one comes up to me, I'll club it right back down." Luenevyn demonstrates with a swing from his cudgel.

"Riddle has a point, it's just some scrounging hounds. Why don't we just head on out there? We can pick up some rope on the way to tie up any of the dogs we catch so Lance can bring them back if he wants."

Lam-ang wrote:
"Anyone know where I can buy armor, cheap?"

Prat catuiously approaches Lam-Ang and says, "I don't know anything about the buying and selling of armor, but I might be able to get you a shield. Last season we ran a show called The Fallen Heros of Goboran and I think the shields that the chorus carried might still be in my prop room. Whould that help?"

For the DM:

Spoiler:
Is there anything in the prop room at the theater that Prat could get for Lam-ang or anyone else?

Prat stops in his tracks, and returns pouting to listen to Lance. As he listens to the plan he realizes how impatient he is and that he has a lot to learn about adventureing. "That sounds like a perfect plan, Lance."

Lancet 'Lance' Trevoir wrote:
"When do you need us to be there?"

"Why not now? Come on times a wasting - let's get going," Prat nearly leaps out of his skin as he skips towards the Dawn Gate.

"Wow...a hundread gold! I've never seen that much before. I'm not afraid of some mangy mutts, count me in."

Prat listens to the Elf tell his story with wide eyes, muttering softly an odd sounding word that is rumbling around in his brain and flexing his hands as if working out muscle cramps.

For the DM

Spoiler:
As Prat sees his new friend Lance purchasing the daggers he absentminedly wonders if there are better quality ones at the table. His infatuation with Lance fuels the spontanious casting of Detect Magic.

When Luenevyn finishes Prat nods as if trying to clear his head and says,"You have an odd name. Can I just call you Riddle for short? Anyway, I'm called Prat by my friends at the theater. I've lived there since Ms. Absalee adopted me which is grand since I get to work backstage at all the operas. It's excting and what not, but not nearly as exciting as becomeing an honest to goodness real adventurer!"

Summer Grey wrote:
Summer looks him up and down and then says "My name is Summer." Then becoming impatient she turns to Lance " Why exactly did you invite me here to day? And what is your name?"

As the rude lady turns to face Lance, Prat sticks out his tounge at the back of her head and wrinkles his nose with a disgusted grimace.

When Tolin arrives Prat stands tall and proud, "How can I be of service?"

Lancet 'Lance' Trevoir wrote:
Lance hears Prat's greeting and turns with a smile "Hey Prat! Nice to see you about. I'm not sure but my geuss is that it will be exciting."

"I just can't wait...Maybe we will have to cross the country to climb to the tops of the mountains to slay the terifying dragons of old, like Suriddi the Brave."

Lancet 'Lance' Trevoir wrote:
A few seconds later when Summer arrives "Wow. Looks like everyone is arriving. I haven't seen Tolin yet. Have you seen any of the other fellows about?"

Prat eyes the girl confused as to why she is here and asks, "Whats your name again?"

Prat spends the days telling everyone and any one about his heroic deeds, but is frustrated when his friends at the theater refuse to believe him. When the letters arrive with the rewards he is overjoyed to have proof and delights in the stunned response from the rest of the stage hands. He pockets the money but shares the coffee with his mentors, Fabian and Johan.

Eager to become a great adventurer he heads off to meet the others at the market. When he sees them he runs up saying, "Lance...Lance, I knew you'd be here. Isn't this great? I wonder what kind of quest we'll be going on."

Prat watches as Lam-ang gets ready to defend the fallen thugs and is overwelmed with guit for stabbing one of them. Fighting back tears he runs to the end of the pier intendending to head for home.

Being an impressionable youth, Prat looks to the others to see what they are going to do.

Spoiler:
Prat will follow along with whatever Lance decides to do

Feeling extreemly brave after the victory and with new friends at his side, Prat sitcks his tounge out at the taunting thugs, "You can try to find us, but I doubt you could find your arse if you were sitting on it."

"Well met, Lance, Lam-ang, and Tolin. Everyone just calls me Prat."

Prat bounces around annoyingly bellowing, "We did it, did you see that... I cut him down," and the like as he re-enacts his skillful part of the action to anyone who will listen.

MythrilDragon,

You keep forgetting to use your character avatar on your posts. :P

-Archlich

Yeah, and the only reason I'm tough on this is that I go back and look up stuff on your character sheet a lot...It's far easier to just click on the in-game avatar.

Sorry , I keep trying to switch the avatar but my laptops touch pad is very sensitve and I think that Im accidently scrolling it back onto my main name. Of course I dont catch it until its posted. I will try to keep getting prats Pic up there not only for ease of chr finding but for the RP aspect as well. One of the reasons I wanted to play by post here was the chaging avatars.

Thanks for the congrats, Good luck to Rob..Iskandria was very cool.

I'm going to be busy this weekend getting my villian finished up so If i dont post just have Prat do what a hyper teenager with a sword might do.

Filled with the rush of adrenlin Prat acts rashly, drawing his rapier and he yells (in with a voice not so filled with bravado), "Have at you." He moves up next to the elf ready to defend himself.

Prat leads the way chattering about how exciting his day has become to anyone in the group who will listen, "By the way they call me Prat. What should I call you?"

Prat rushes to the end of alley, "Come on, this way it's not far."

Prat beems with excitement, "Ooo..ooo, I know that pier, I've done some pole fishing off it with my friend Johan. He once caught a ten pounder, I saw him. It took him a whole hour to drag it up. If you let me come help I can show you the quicket way there." Prat dances around Lance eagerly.

I tHink i have every thing done for Prats sheet let me know if anything is missing

Summer Grey wrote:
Summer is interested but just dosen't care enough about other human beings to interfere. She is however glad that she has her walking stick/quarterstaff with her in these dangerous times. As the boy runs past she turns to him and says "Hey you, with the toy sword, what's going on over there?"

"Those men they... grabed her, and that guy is yelling for the watch..a fight... come see for your self," Prat exclaims not waiting for her answer as he charges after trying to see every exciting moment.

My character concept.
