Popcorn deliberates poking Darius to make him make a sound and spook the other leshies into attacking him, but decides it would be too much hassle and she really didn’t feel like arguing with Bottlespeaker and Fluff Fang the whole way home, so she nods, takes the bottle holding Willow Shade, and heads for the fence. Soon, she mouthes to the sprout. Shhh.
“Try to get them first,” Popcorn suggests as she notices Reaching Rings hesitating. “We’ll watch, and if they start noticing you then we’ll send Darius to the door.”
“What if we make him make a distraction?” Popcorn suggests, a gleam in her eye reminiscent of Glimmer’s mischievous grin as she gestures towards Darius. “He tries to open the door or something, the guards - why are there leshies here? - anyway, the guards go check that out, Rings sneaks in and gets the sprouts, and we leave.”
Everything alright GM? It’s been a little while since we heard from you.
Popcorn does her best to not loudly boast about how easily she swung over the fence and also follows after Rings.
Rather than resign herself to getting even more bored, Popcorn reaches out with long vine-arms to grab the tops of the metal fence and pull herself up and over.
Popcorn is less enthused about having to be sneaky, but finally grumbles “Fine, whatever,” and silently hopes that she can find something flammable. And an excuse to set it on fire.
Popcorn starts mentally calculating how far this party might be and how far she can drag the cauldron of hot wax before realizing with a flash of inspiration that Darius can probably be bullied into pulling it himself. Satisfied, she nods and waits for everyone else to be ready before letting him know.
Popcorn silently hopes her friends will think of more questions to ask the brute so she'll have an excuse to threateningly start to tip the cauldron and slosh its scalding contents all over the man. Or at least his feet. Though if they don't and the four of them can leave right away, that's also a win in her book.
Popcorn grumbles and starts tying up the sprout-napper’s hands. And his feet. Though she does consider dunking the feet in particular repeatedly into the vat of hot wax to get started on making good on that threat to turn him into a candle.
"OH NO YOU DON'T!" Popcorn also pursues the fleeing human, pinning him between her and Rings and swinging her flail at his kneecaps (or where she thinks his kneecaps might be - she's not 100% certain on human anatomy, and she doesn't care to be). "HOW MANY CANDLES DID YOU MAKE WITH THEM!? THAT'S HOW MANY CANDLES WE'RE GOING TO MAKE OUT OF YOU!!"
"You think you can turn us into candles too!? Not if I pulverize you first!"
"No, you get outta here!" Popcorn chases after the man, panting from both the exertion and her own growing anger. Bits of flame flicker in both her mouth and the "mouths" of the seedpods at the end of her flail. She raises her arms above her head, then slams them down hard!
"Finally!" Popcorn leaps into action and rushes through the door. "You so much as harmed a petal on their heads and it's gonna be flesh soup tonight!"
Popcorn shifts restlessly from one foot to the other. She draws her seedpod flail, then begrudgingly puts it away, then slowly moves her hand closer and closer to its hilt as if expecting demonic deer to charge through the door because Reaching Rings is taking foreeeeeeever.
The air around Popcorn starts visibly heating as the leshy taps her foot impatiently. Several candles nearby start to look a little wilted. She looks pointedly from one leshy to another, waiting until either one of them starts talking or her patience runs out - whichever comes first. If Popcorn speaks first: "You're going to lose a lot more than your job if you don't let us down there!" Popcorn shakes a fist threatening at the man. "They could be being made into candles right now - or worse! And whatever has happened to them, I'm gonna do to Darius, then I'll do it to you!"
Popcorn makes a slightly-impatient sign back to Fluff Fang to encourage them to start talking then.
Popcorn has half a mind to start threatening to pop some kneecaps - Glimmer had mentioned that the tall folks had a weakness to popped kneecaps - but waits a moment so nobody could tell her she had charged in without thinking when all she wanted was to get something done!
Popcorn's attempts at bullying the tall-folk into admitting their guilt quickly devolve into wordless yelling and sullen grumbling.
Popcorn scowls, but can't come up with any better ideas to find the lost leshies so after several minutes she crosses her arms and nods. Once. Begrudgingly.
"Get outta here!" Popcorn yells, shaking her flail menacingly at the herbivores.
Popcorn begrudgingly takes the seeds and, seeing an opportunity in the remains of the human's camp, puts them in the remnants of the campfire and starts getting redder and redder to heat them up.
"Hey Popcorn, why are you so mean to Glimmer? Yeah, she's annoying sometimes, but she's harmless. And look, she gave us these things." "She... and her friends... would throw... things at me..." Popcorn answers between puffs of hot air to heat up the seeds. "She... called me... names too." She looks up from her work and scowls at the gourd-faced leshy. "Does that sound like fun to you? Should I start calling you names and throwing things at your head? Huh? Didn't think so." She gets back to work, ignoring Twinsprout's speculations. --------------------------------------------------- "Deer? I'll give 'em something to snack on!" Popcorn shakes her seed-flail at the oncoming herbivores. "Come and get some!"
Popcorn continues actively not looking at Glimmer, instead opting to thoroughly scour the ground for any footprints or tracks. "He probably looked better than you," she mutters just loud enough to be heard by the fairy in the tree.
Popcorn crosses her arms and refuses to even look at Glimmer - at least directly. "This better not be one of your stupid fairy tricks!" she yells.
"Well I did it once - I can do it again!" Popcorn pries herself off the riverbank before she starts putting down roots and gets to work. If Grasping Reach would work here:
The leshy grunts, and her arms stretch longer and longer until they can snatch clumsily at the vines hanging overhead. If it doesn't:
With a fierce yell, the leshy plunges into the chilly water! "I'll... get... 'em... bring... back..."
Once the vines are in hand (one way or another), Popcorn gets to work.
"Of course it's supposed to be here! You think I don't know the way to my own bridge?" Popcorn sits down in a huff on the riverbank and crosses her arms. She glares at the vines as if they had personally decided to offend her by untying themselves, pausing only to glare at the petal Reaching Rings shoves in her face.
Popcornsays nothing in response to Reaching Rings's display of their lack of taste in food, but she nods approvingly to Sunbright and bends down to give the tiny leshy a stirring stick that is much to large for them. "You do that - and if any bunnies show up here, you take that and stick 'em somewhere painful! Got it?" With that taken care of, Popcorn proudly leads the way to the bridge.
Popcorn grumps, a scowl on her bright-pink flower face. "You bet I could scare off a vegetarian," she declares, shaking the scorched stick she uses to stir her smoky experiments at the sky. "Just point me at 'em! Where'd you see this goat!?" The air grows warmer around her, and the stick gets a little bit more scorched. |
