Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Onlookers see the curious sight of a humanoid whale blushing a deep rose as Podrick receives the lady's necklace with thanks; along the way to meet his family and dispose of the accursed artefact, he drafts and readies his latest epic, his group's first; 'the Drowning of the Yellow King'.

Great to finally finish an adventure for once. Go team.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Podrick listens attentively, and nods in time as Suchak expounds point after point. "A tale simply but honestly told, oh Suchak; I will consider it deeply when I formally transpeak our epic."

"As for the dread god Hastur- he is a horror worshipped only by nihilists and creatures not of this pleasant earth; the King in Yellow, his vices are decadence and disorder. As for whether this corruptive horror could occur again... I think not, as long as his book and whatever other earthly ties he has are contained or, better, drowned in the deepest undersea volcanos."

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

RPing it out could actually be a great way to wrap up the adventure, describing what we've done, lost and gained.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Midflight, Podrick stops and turns as the immense creature collapses into a pile of shattered bone and battered flesh. Still holding the book protectively, the whale turns and glides over to the rest. "I am." Stowing the book away in his pack, Podrick draws a wand and makes a gesture. "Is... is it over?"

Detect magic on everything looking for anything unusual/dangerous

Podrick begins proffering taps of his healing wand, his mood rising as it seems the danger has passed. "I... I do believe we are victorious, my friends! The creature banished, the danger gone..." He looks down to Aught, and a strangled sob emerges from his mouth. "But oh, poor brave Aught..."

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

I did make the check.

If it has blindsight- though I note that is often restricted to a certain radius-

Podrick simply takes the book from horn and flees, after calling out what he remembers of the monster.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

See how stumped the wizard becomes when he runs out of spells for the day.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

I'm out of shadow spells anyway.

Will 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

"It seeks the book! Destroy it, someone!" cries Podrick as the creature weakly lunges at his mind.

Soaring through the air, Podrick glides down towards the book; he gingerly grabs it, then throws it to the velocijakks. "Dinner time, my scaly allies!"

It's on the floor or something similar, right?

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Could you define 'immune to illusions'? Immunity to all illusion spells, or specifically immune to figment/other subschools?

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

10ft is close enough

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

No 5ft surface within reach of him? Side of the wall, chandelier, etc?

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"SHADOW-KRAKEN, CRUSH TO DUST AND BLOOD!"

Another piercing set of notes create a 5-foot wide, inky pool on the theater roof; if shifts menacingly, then an enormous tentacle explodes through, wrapping up and around the monster.

"Aught, no..." Covering a strangled cry, Podrick gestures at the monster. "Your eyes to be full of the blackest ink!"

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Podrick shakes his mighty head, then mutters a word and strikes out with anti-magic, seeking to dispel the illusion.

Dispel Magic against the illusion, dispel check 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"No, you shall fall, to us, the heroes of this fine tale!" Flicking his tail, Podrick stretches out a flipper and readies for the creature to act.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

It's hard to discern, but definitely there; Podrick... grins.

The waves engulf Aught, then surf him forth through the air towards the creature.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Ah, as a wizard I often forget that some poor people can't fly. I'll have a think.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Since it specifically targets 'willing' creatures, probably unimportant. If you don't fancy a lift, anyone else who wants a ride into melee range?

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"Hmm... no. No, I will not permit that. No." Swimming through the air, Podrick meets the attendant's gaze evenly. "Suchak... do you have any anger against this enemy that requires expressing...? Oh good. Hold still." A deep breath, another burst of whalesong. "CURRENTS OF THE DEEP, CARRY MY ALLY TO MY FOE'S ETERNAL SLEEP!" Shadowy waves pick up Suchak and launch him at the hovering creature.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

So what enemies are left standing? That flying satyr thing in the seats? What's the big blue thing in the south?

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"Oh, foulest play" mutters Podrick, momentarily returned to earth. Soaring back up into the air, he forcibly regains his concentration and sings another spell at the creature. "Coral light, blinding and white, cloying might!"

"What ocean's depths are now called to rip the minds of landswimmers asunder... I shall REPEL!" Ignoring the teeth-marks in his hide, ignoring the creatures nibbling at his flippers, he soars up into the air and lets out another, terrifying scream to shatter the eardrums of the lake-creature and its summoner. Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"Fall, and know your just desserts, philistines!" Podrick surges forward in the air, opens his cavernous mouth and lets out a hideous scream, a high C to shatter the air and deafen all in his path. "LET ICE CRACK AND CRY AS WATERS SHIFT!" he cries in whalesong.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"...'WANTS TO'?!?!"

Podrick's voice resounds with the mighty fury of a slighted academic.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"The city is doomed... until HEROES APPEAR!" roars Podrick, soaring into the theater triumphantly, aiming a ball of aquamarine flame at the stage performers. "NO NIGHT IS WITHOUT DAWN, NO MADNESS WITHOUT SALVATION, NO MONSTERS EXCEPT THOSE WE WILL DESTROY FOR YOU, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! FOR THE CITY!" His exhaled sphere of fire blasts forward across the theater, arcing into their midst, exploding in a flash of scorching light and heat, joyful whalesong accompanying its splendor.

"Dimension door! Shock, speed and impact! Is there a clear space, or one unobserved? Or shall we make our preparations then directly enter the field of battle?"

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Podrick nods and mutters a few notes, shrouding Suchak in concealment magics. "Onward to recon, then."

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Huh; aye.

On a different note... any chance the adventure can end with us donning costume and storing into the stage as actors to change the story to a less-evil ending through special effects (spells) and fake narrative combat (real combat)?

"Now is the whale of our discontent... ME."

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Podrick frowns and drums his flipper against his weighty neck. "Friends.. how to proceed? Directly? I can teleport all of us straight into the center of everything. Indirectly? I can cover one of us in Invisibility while they recon...What shall we do?"

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Wut?

Worst case scenario: Nearly at end of adventure, will stop playing soon

Best case scenario: GM is hinting that he is terminally ill, we'll stop playing soon but we'll get campaign notes, background and everything needed to continue the campaign in his name if we so desire.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

I'll stick with being from Mudsedge.

"Ah, civilization... for all the charms of the countryside, rurality has existed for thousands of years and always will, barring demon apocalypse; yet every great city is fleeting and unique." Podrick sighs for a moment dreamily before shaking his head.

"Job at hand! Job at hand. What Suchak said! After him, to the Playhouse!"

Auto-pass the K Local check Podrick leads the group there as quickly as possible.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Hrm. Hey GM; at your suggestion some time ago, I changed Podrick's home-town from my made-up town of Mudsedge to Indar. But in the game you've been announcing me as 'Podrick of Mudsedge' and we just trotted into Indar.

Where am I from?

Not too fussed.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

When requested, Podrick mutters an eerie note and taps Aught as many times as requested.

10 HP healed for each

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Busy examining one of the yellow signs, it takes a few moments for Podrick to respond and look back to horn. "Hrm? Oh, a wand of devil's blood healing? I confess I possess one already, if you would prefer I hold and apply it t'would be my pleasure." He pockets it.

A few more moments of examining the yellow sign later, Podrick turns and casts his eye over the loot, front-right flipper waving in a practiced slice through the air. "What have we here..."

Detect Magic; take 10 on K. Arcana and Spellcraft for 27 and 27

After the magical pedantry has been dealt with, Podrick recalls the constable. "Oh dear, do forgive me officer for not earlier commiserating on your los... ah, he's gone." Podrick's head shakes despondently. "Timing is still so rarely my forte... tsk."

He shrugs, and turns to Suchak. "Well fought, sir serpant, and to the rest of you; and I agree, we'd best be in bed lest more of... this." He looks around at the devastation, the blood and fleshy remains.. then he smiles. "Ah, what hideous powers there be in land like sea... and what wonderful purposes we may one day bend them to, that such things might never occur."

Another moment, another mod, a turn. "Travel and a fight; time to bed."

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"Mayhaps some light to blind and not guide... Oh do forgive me, onwards fellows!" Podrick shouts encouragement along with another medley of notes: "Glow of the sea, danger or guide; bring unto me the truth!"

A shower of golden sand bursts down onto the crowd, blinding their eyes.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Not any higher.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

"Containment sadly seems folly... Back away, I should say!"

Momentarily ending his medley, the coral prison shatters into disappearing dust as the cetakin flies back a little, then takes a breath and sings the sun down to strike the crowd. "Lonely is the swim of the deep sea angler, yet its kind create the stars!" he trills in whalesong then common.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Podrick's notes rise to a new crescendo, the coral prison rippling and growing at his direction. A small chimney extends up from the coral, high enough as to be nearly impossible to climb out from, yet easy for Horn to launch is snowballs down into the horde. Idly cartwheeling with satisfaction, Podrick readies to open another portal for Suchak when asked. "Keep on, fellows!"

Maintain concentration

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

My archetype gives it up for extra spells. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard/archetypes/paizo---wiza rd-archetypes/shadowcaster

I'm cool with that interpretation.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Yeah, letting me freely illusion-alteration shenanigan is probably unwise.

Podrick glides over the field, notes still rippling out to maintain the form of the cage; "Well fought, friends, well fought! Only a little more whittling down to go I would say..." Still vibrantly colorful as if fresh from the sea itself, the coral cage traps the crowd of madpeople like rats in a trap.

Maintain concentration on Silent Image, keep opening up portals for Aught and the rest. Could probably just make a permanently-open window for you to swing through if you all got next to the prison to block exits.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Scattering reagents from a purse strapped to his side, Podrick summons into existence a mighty cube of rock-hard coral to entrap the crowd utterly, forcing them close, unable to move. On his allies' request, a blink of concentration enables a window in the coral to retract, allowing arrows and magics to pour in.

No concealment

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Reckon with my flight speed- and I already flew up to look over the barrier- I've got enough of an angle to do it?

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

Not certain how you're running illusions, but just to state how I expect/hope this spell to work- the illusion of a large box traps the enemies. Some of them make their save, pushing through the wall to fight; but that still leaves a third-to-half of the enemies trapped and able to be dealt with later as we pick off the rest.

Male Cetakin Wizard/9

A rising chorus of notes in whalesong ripple out across the square.

Phantasms of the deep rise to my aid, tricks of current and heat and salt... ARISE!
