Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10. Add another 2 to the roll if in natural surroundings.

Paza gives Libi a dubious look, then clicks her tongue at her in an experimental fashion...

Handle animal to improve Libi's attitude towards Paza, at least: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

I'm here. ^^

Early the next morning, the air is rent by heartrending howls and yelping from the direction of the well. If anyone goes to look, they will find Paza there, in the tub -- and struggling with the wolf, who is trying very hard to get out of the tub while declaring in canine that he is being tortured to a grisly death. Finally, clearly, fed up, Paza bites the wolf on the ear, causing him to whimper and give in.

"He rolls in mud and fights with dogs, then says there will be no fleas," Paza says to anyone who comes to see what is going on. She glares at the wolf and bites him on the ear again. "There will be no fleas!" She proceeds to soap up her companion and herself, then rinses both off thoroughly. Finally free to go, the wolf trots a few paces away from the tub and vigorously shakes himself before stalking even further away, casting accusing looks at the girl, who is drying herself off by more human means...

Paza eats ravenously at breakfast, then wipes the crumbs from her mouth and addresses the others: "Go out. Gather seeds. Set trap. Talk, talk..." She frowns as she broods on something, then looks to Oleg. "Pigeons?" she asks. "Rgh. Do. You keep. Pigeons? For messages? I. Will. Talk. To them. Then."

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

"Need the seeds, first," Paza tells Pyotr. "There won't be any there now. Not the right ones."

She glances at Ary. "Don't need to be close. Four hundred steps away is close enough."

She turns to Oleg next, and stubbornly repeats: "Seeds. Need the right seeds to trap the open space. Get me seeds for thorns and seeds for vines." The next moment, she springs to her feet, the scarred wolf surging to stand at her side. "Roof!" she says as she slips out the dining room door. "Open sky. Sleep! Bath tomorrow."

Unless anyone tries to stop them, Paza and the wolf will sleep on the roof, under the stars...

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

"Seeds," Paza says, frowning at Pyotr's battle-map. "Sow them in the open space, here" -- she gestures at the courtyard -- "and when I cast the spell, make them to rise up all here."

The feral girl indicates an area with a 40 ft. spread...!

"Inner circle, normal seeds," Paza says. "Grasses. Things. To trap the horses. Outer circle, thorns. Thistles. Blackbriars. Nettles. For when the bandits jump off the horses. Hurt them. Bleed them. While they're trapped, cast your sleep-spell. Shoot arrows. Throw rocks. Death from a distance. Smart way to hunt."

Paza looks at Svetlana. "More food?" she asks.

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

Paza gives Arnulf an odd look.

"Ambushing is good," she says. "Killing more than we need is not."

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

Paza waits to begin eating until she has made sure her companion will also have a meal -- of raw meat. Once the wolf is chowing down, the girl starts eating quickly, then slows down and eyes each mouthful with a mixture of enjoyment and doubt before shovelling it into her mouth. Finally, though, the bowl is empty and she looks to Oleg.

"Bath?" she asks.

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

Paza grunts. "No," she tells Svetlana. "But thank you. I got..." The girl unslings her backpack and roots around in it for a minute before she extracts a boot, waving it in the air before she stuffs it back in. "I have the other one, too. Somewhere. Don't need yours. Nice offer, though. Thank you."

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

"Trade with other scavengers?" Paza suggests. "Use? Leather rots with time. Leather and furs are useful."

She frowns. "There were bears where I grew up. Bears look out for the bear. And their cubs. Risk your life to kill food, and a bear walks up and steals it. Bears kill bears over kills."

I'd missed your question on bears, sorry! ^^; Also, Paza's disdain was towards hunting for fun, not fun in and of itself.

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

I like pretty much all the classes. They've all got something cool to offer. ^^ I quite like my Tiefling Rogue -- I only gave her some Fighter ranks to get at a few useful combat feats ahead of schedule. *laughs* I'm also fond of my Sorcerers. The Bloodlines bring them alive, and I dig their enhanced weapon access over the Wizard, which can be quite useful.

It's all about how you play a character, use the options that come with it, and how you break the mold. Because -- to me -- part of the fun is not just optimally using what is expected, but also how you defeat expectations.

On that subject -- DM Inneliese, how are you disposed towards the Adept Channel feat? If I can qualify for the requirements, would you be opposed to my taking it?

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

Paza blinks, puzzled. "We can eat it," she says. "It could kill us. Others of us. And we can eat it. We're not hunting for fun." She practically spits the word 'fun'.

Both man and animal benefit in the long run. What I just said is merely the summary of the Tale of Uralda, an ancient Green Faith legend .. I can tell you about it some other time, Paza, if you would like."

"Erastil," Paza says, briefly glaring at Arnulf. "That is a story for Erastil, not the Green. Long run ends for the animal whenever the human gets hungry enough. Or they see their children eaten. Or their back is broken through labour."

I haven't heard from anyone living in the area that they've been visited by those thugs, but then, there are hunters I've not seen in more than a month or more... men and women who used to come through every couple weeks or so."

Paza bares her teeth. The expression is not one of amusement.

"Cowards," she spits. "Taking hostages to subdue the strong. They are weak. The strong fight."

"Territorial," Paza corrects Ary. "Boars fight to keep their land. Drakes..." She pauses, frowning. "Don't know drakes. If they are too strong in the water, lure them onto land. Bait. Tricks are their own strength."

@ Arnulf: the hostility is purely IC, okay? Wolves don't generally like having bears amble into their den. ;)

Paza's eyes flash with genuine anger at Arnulf -- and she grabs the wolf by the scruff. The scarred animal snarls over his shoulder, only for the girl to snap at him, uttering a noise that seems to be half word, half bark. With obvious reluctance, the wolf stops growling and allows the girl to pull him away, both human and animal watching Arnulf and his companion with obvious mistrust.

"You two keep away from us," is all Paza says to the Hunter.

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

A low, rumbling snarl erupts from the wolf's throat as it stalks over to Paza and takes up a protective stance in front of her. Hackles raised and teeth bared, its gaze is fixed solidly on the bear.

A second, higher-pitched snarl erupts from the girl behind him, who stands in a fighter's crouch, her teeth likewise bared and her quarterstaff held in a two-handed grip before her. Paza's eyes are fixed on the bear's.

Handle animal to make the bear back down, DC20 unless I'm mistaken: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12.

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

"Bath?" Paza repeats, turning around at Oleg's words.

At her side, the wolf makes a low, unhappy noise and stalks a few steps away, stiff-legged. The girl growls under her breath, and the animal subsides, lying down on the ground.

"Hot or cold?" Paza asks.

"Hello there. My name's Ary and I'm somewhat new to the area. This is Oleg's Trading Post... right?"

Paza glances at Ary, eyes meeting briefly before she looks away, jerking her chin at the man on the roof. A nonvocal way of saying 'Don't ask me, ask him'. The girl does not radiate any hostility when she does so, though.

Kira Holt wrote:
Kira didn't even notice the wolf and it's human until Ary spoke to her."Are you a traveler or from around here?"

Paza blinks when Kira next asks a question, and visibly steels herself before she taps her chest. "Traveler." Next she puts a hand on the wolf's head, causing the animal to close its eyes and lean into her. "Local."

As Pyotr did not ask her directly, Paza only glances at him -- fleeting eye-contact, over almost before it begins -- and then suddenly moves, stalking over first to the storage shed, next to the gates. "Empty," she remarks, rapping her staff against the shed's door. "Stuck," she says, tapping the gate's hinges. "Bad. No supplies. No defence."

Female Human Druid 1 (Feral Child); Init +5; Perception +7 / +9 in natural surroundings; AC 15 (FF 14, Touch 11); hp 10 Fort +4; Ref +1; Will +6

Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

The dark-haired girl and her wolf do not answer the man's hail. They are an odd sight, to be sure; a genuine wolf, marked by many battles by its scars, and a teenaged human girl wearing hide armour, her arms, legs and feet bare, now leaning on a staff made of dark wood.

They stalked into the trading post together, the animal's scarred and furry shoulder brushing the girl's hip, feral yellow eyes glancing left to right, seeking threats. The wolf's nose and ears twitch and it growls under its breath at the strange sights and smells. Its tail is hanging low, not quite between its legs.

From this point on, however, there are some differences. Whereas the wolf is clearly upset and twitchy, the girl is cautious -- but interested. Her dark eyes are not much less feral than the wolf's, but they are drinking in the sights, such as they are. There is a small grin on her lips, even if she isn't talking to anyone.

That will be interesting to find out, won't it? Besides, Paza does not even know that she's a Rogarvia at this point. And when she finds out, it will probably not mean as much to her as it does to the people around her.

'My blood was top pack of the realm? ... Hmph. They left prime territory. Shameful.'

For better or worse, you're stuck with these people, unless you decide to become murder-hobos and kill them all.

*chuckles* Well, I've never been fond of murder-hobos. If selected for gameplay, Paza will probably treat the noble houses the way she might a powerful wolf-pack in a neighbouring territory; hackles raised, ready to fight if they attack, but not openly hostile. ^^

Aheheheh... After reading the first book of Song of Ice & Fire, that comparison-chart tells me one thing: don't get involved with the current aristocracy any more than we strictly have to... :p

Oh? -- *reads* -- Ha, yes. ^^ It differs in who picked them up and why, of course. And their reasons for accepting the charter.

Submitted for your approval: Paza, a Feral Child Druid.

Her preferred role in a Kingdom would probably be its Archdruid (establishing dominance in her territory).
Second choice would be to serve as a scout and defender (securing the borders of the aforementioned territory) in charge of patrols. She would be deeply invested in training mounts and various support animals for her subordinates, and training them to work with the wilderness.

RP sample:

The Lord Mayor was growing irritated. The wretched girl had slunk into his office like a dog that had been whipped too often, and was pacing to and fro at the back of his office, well out of reach and not meeting his eyes. Barefoot, no less, and tracking dirt into his priceless carpet!

"Miss, do you or do you not intend to take the charter?" he snapped at her.

Now she met his eyes, and the feral look in them almost made the Lord Mayor flinch. "Well," he said in a more measured tone of voice. "Do you or don't you? I am rather busy, so if you -- wait, please calm down! I'm sure I can -- I didn't mean to offend--!"

The Lord Mayor's voice rose to a squeak and he threw up his hands as the strange girl -- 'An assassin?!' -- whirled her sling overhead and launched the leaden bullet right at him! He squeezed his eyes shut -- and heard the bullet whizz right past his ear. Something behind him squeaked, there was a crack of bone... and a dull thump. Amazed to be alive, Ioseph Sellemius opened his eyes and looked around. Lying behind his chair was a large, very dead rat, its neck broken by the girl's sling-bullet. The wretched beast must have crawled up onto his chair...!

Turning back to face his visitor, the Lord Mayor flinched again to find her standing right in front of him, her eyes boring into his as she leaned across the desk to inspect him.
"Will go," she said, the words leaving her almost explosively, a burst of communication followed by silence. She had quite a nice voice for all that. "Will go," she said again. "Will take charter. I will take the charter. Yes?"

"Yes," the Lord Mayor said. "Um. Good. Thank you."

He handed over the paper, and the girl turned it round and round in her hands, even turning it upside down as she stared at it. Just when Ioseph Sellenius thought she might be illiterate, she turned it the right way up and stared intently at the writing, as if to pull the words off the page and into her brain.

"Yes," she said. "Yes. Good." She flicked a look at him. "Thank you. There is a hole in your... wall. Rats can get in there. Thank you. Goodbye, now."

She turned around and slunk out of his office, head lowered and back stiff as if she expected to be attacked at any moment. Now the Lord Mayor could see her shoes; a pair of boots, dangling over her shoulder by their laces. He sat staring at the footprints the girl had left on his carpet for at least five minutes after she had left before he shook himself back to awareness.

"Peculiar," he muttered. "Most peculiar." And the odd thing was, she had looked hauntingly familiar...
