Round 5

Ayreth casts Guidance, then hops up just a bit to target Paul with it. Her starknife attacks the same globe.

Guidance: This spell imbues the subject with a touch of divine guidance. The target gets a +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. The target must choose to use the bonus before making the roll to which it applies.

.

Using Guidance for attack modifier

After the rest of the crew attacked, Paul pushes over to 3:F and attacks the remaining globe.

With the bonuses from his allies he'll elect to use "power attack" on it -

Attack with magical Short Sword; including buffs and penalties
1d20 + 9 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 3 = 19

If it hits -
1d6 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 4 = 11

No worries GM; it's all good.

Right now it doesn't matter because generally, Paul waits for his ranged companions to shoot at the targets first before he moves into melee (even melee in the air); that way, if one of my allies doesn't have the Feat "Precise Shot" it won't matter, since - as of now - the orbs aren't in melee range of anyone. Of course, after my allies use their range weapons on the orbs, Paul will happily move up to use melee on them (assuming one of my allies doens't drop them first). But sadly that move has to wait for another day - I'm off to bed, now :)

For now Paul will move to G:2 and attack the orb at F;1.

Attack against orb with -2 Penalty Factored in

Left - I'm pretty sure that the penalty you're referring to is for multiple attacks each round - such as if I was using Two-Weapon Fighting or had a BAB of +6/+1 and used a full attack.

In other words, with the cumulative penalty for fighting in the air then it would be subtracting -1/-2 for a net total of at a +5/-1.

Or if I had a BAB of +11/6/1 I think the penalty would be -1/-2/-3 for a net total of +10/4/-2 and at the top of a new round the penalty "reboots", though I may be wrong.

Of course, before I do anything, I need to know what's up from Ayreth via the levitation; but if I could get clarified, that would be great.

So Linn has had his turn by drawing his weapon/bow.

Paul watches the Chelaxian boy near him disappear into the shadows; his eyes like ice as he watches the boy vanish; then he turns and watches his companions rush off in the other direction.

Paul debates what he'll do, but decides to leave the boy in the darkness he moves around the corner to aid his friends.

When he turns the corner he sees that there is foul looking cloud which his gaze cannot pierce.

If there was a threat inside it, or beyond it, there is no way he could hope to see it.

His only recollection from Linndell's words thus far is that there has been nothing but trap after trap in this filthy hole.

However, the only person in the company who is able to heal is the doctor; and he has moved dangerously close to the edge of this gloom.

So I guess Paul will "Double-Move" to 4:I so that he's able to take his next action on the next round. He has his weapons drawn; though.

Only Gii, Bart and Alar and Paul left to act in Round 1. Alar also needs to roll Fort save, please.

GM - 2 things -

1. Even if I was able to use Knowledge Planes there isn't a way for me to do that because Left said the green stuff was like a fog cloud. As far as I know that means we can't see more than 5 feet into the cloud; and even if we were literally next to the creature, and still managed to hit the creature if we could hit the creature; there is a 20% chance that a successful hit will still fail. That being the case, if someone in the party had Knowledge Planes is there any way they could even use it since the creature is essentially invisible to anyone who isn't in the cloud and no more than 5 feet from it?

2. I'm waiting for Gii and Bart to go - but now I have to go to work and I won't be able to act in any case until we get back.

Follow-up: Since the enemy creature won Initiative and is acting in a Surprise Round and also has Concealment, even if Paul ran around the corner I don't think that "in-character" he would be able to do anything because he wouldn't know the creature exists at this time. Since there is no way for him to know about this "In-Character" I kind of have to wait to do something for a while anyway. But I'll have something up after the others make their posts and when I get home. See you then.

EDIT: I guess I'm waiting for Gii to go now - I'll have something up later when I get home from work.

Hrm... Alar will go... fifty feet ahead of the group. Far enough to make a difference if he spots something/smells someone, but not far enough that the group can't aid him if stuff goes down. Bart might be persuaded to send him further ahead otherwise.

That's 50 feet ahead of Linndell, I guess, which means it's 70 feet beyond Paul and he's unable to see Alar at this time no matter what his Perception Check is, unfortunately.

For now he's following Linndell, I guess.

It should be noted that Paul has his musket slung over his shoulder and doesn't have it "at the ready" for ready or easy use; though he is carrying his +1 Short Sword at this time.

Alar is going to take point now (as stealthy scout), according to Bart's rp. Don't know if Linndell is aware of this (since he is on point) ... and whether anyone will communicate it to him? But how far ahead/forward will the group be moving now?

If Alar is scouting, I'll need a perception check from him, please.

Do any of us need Perception Checks to spot Alar? He's pretty far ahead and basically disappears if he's in dim light, so we may not even be able to see him even if we wanted to; or what direction he chose to go in as the tunnel now forks...

Gii won't particularly mind, but he'd rather Paul used his words instead of just yanking on him.

Paul tried words earlier; regrettably we just don't speak the same language ;)

But I reckon that Gii's a sharp enough cookie to recognize that Paul is making a conscious decision not to use Common for some reason.

There is room for single file movement. If Gii is amiable to waiting back until those in front have moved forward (and thus creating a space between) then that is fine.

Cool, thanks GM :)

Meanwhile, I hope that Gii is okay with it; but I guess if he's not we can RP it out ;)

There is no gap between Blue and Gii. As I mentioned, space is limited inside this tunnel.

No worries - in which case Paul will put his hand on Gii's shoulder and stop his advance until Blue moves so that there is a five feet gap between the two of them. As long as there is room for the party to advance forward in a single file then he'll do what he can to make sure that Gii doesn't move forward right away so there is at least a five foot gap between them and they're not back-to-back.

Not trying to be difficult, but Paul just doesn't want the doctor to be back-to-back with people in front of them; especially given the nature and quality of the traps that we've encountered so far.
