Well .... that was interesting Patrick said as they arrived back at the lodge while watching the comet fade from view. Presumably it was the influence of the Air Spirit that was activating the portals as it sought aid. This implies the prison was starting to weaken but I suspect they would have still required assistance in being liberated.
