Chronicle looks good. Thanks again for running this. I enjoy scenarios that are ripe for roleplay, and this was a fun one. See you around the boards, everyone!

"Awesome! I can't remember what I did to deserve this, but thank you!" Pai exclaims when Spica offers to treat her. Maybe that bonk on the head was more serious than she thought. Or maybe I'm going bat-poop crazy, she wonders, side-eyeing the book sitting on the other side of the table from where she set it just a minute ago.

Pai has been spending more time adventuring and less time carving wood, and it shows.

"What? It's Impressionistic! It's not supposed to be exact. You get the gist!"

800 gp works for me. If we have all the manuscript pieces, I'm ready to return.

"Hmm. When you get into the city, check in with the local PFS Lodge. They may be willing to help foot the bill."

Pai's willing to pay for one Resurrection. (A 4th level scroll is 700gp.)

"OH! What about the comatose people?! Are they still out of it?" Pai flies toward the tree in the chapel to see if the people are awake, now that Jathyl is gone. She makes good and certain to fly low this time, and warily watches the roots of the tree for any evil shenanigans.

Pai would want to stay a bit to help clean up the mess the Pathfinders made and be present for the burials of the deceased. Unless there's something else for us to actually do, she'll be ready to leave after that.

Tears well up in Pai's eyes. She lost control too. Hanging her head, she hovers before the old master and squeaks in a small voice: "I'm really sorry."

"I'm always up for dessert!" Pai declares.

"'Desna's Doo Doo?! OhmygoshIloveit!" Pai shrieks with laughter and zaps Jathyl with a lightening strike again. "By Desna's Dangling Doodads! You'll stop being mean to these monks!"

Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Elemental Overflow. (I noticed that I forgot to add Point Blank Shot and Elemental Overflow bonuses to the damage roll in my last post, which is why it looks different now. I'm not trying to cheat here, I swear! ;)

"Hey Jathyl! How many times were you hit by lightening strikes? Is this a familiar feeling? --Oh dang, I just heard myself. That was kinda harsh. Sorry!" Pai does seem genuinely abashed at her taunting.

"Desna's Dubious Doorknobs!" Pai can't help getting in on the fun.

Spica has to pause at that. Every depiction of Desna she had seen showed her bare footed - which she also approved of. Did Desna actually have socks?

Pai wouldn't know, but if someone pointed that out to her, she'd make something up, like: "She got them in a White Elephant gift exchange and figured she might as well give them a try."

"And me!" Pai concurs with Spica. "By Desna's Freshly-Laundered Socks!" She flies closer and zaps Jathyl with a bolt of electricity, causing all metal objects nearby to pull slightly toward her.

Magnetic Infusion: If this attack does damage to Jathyl, all attacks made with metal weapons against that foe receive a +4 bonus until the end of your next turn, and the foe takes a –4 penalty on Reflex saving throws to avoid metallic objects.

Pai envisions Desna with chicken legs, all fried up and tasty. Don't think too hard about it.

She cocks her head, the only evidence of the topic-whiplash in her mind. If she rises again after we kill her, these poor monks will destroy themselves again and again. How do we stop her? She turns in midair to solemnly regard Jathyl. Her voice contrite and sincere, she calls out: "Jathyl, I'm really sorry about your tree. How can we help you feel better? Not just 'I got mad and now I'm getting even and that feels good', but really truly *better*?"

Realizing the imminent danger, Pai begins frantically trying to drop water on the monk's torch to snuff it out.

Unfortunately, Pai doesn't have the Quenching Infusion, which would allow her water blasts to put out the fire.

"Well, you're just mean! You're punishing random people who didn't do it! That's not a useful way to make a point, you ninny!" Pai shouts at Jathyl, exasperated, as she zooms 25' above the ground toward the burning building. Once as she's close enough, she stops to use Basic Hydrokinesis, her gestures creating water directly over the fire in the hopes of putting it out.

Do I need to roll for that?

Once Spica's doing well, Pai turns to searching the library for bits of that pesky stolen-and-dismantled manuscript.

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24

Once we're finished in the library, I suggest we go to the room to the south of it (bottom left).

Pai pours the potion down Spica's throat, then hands her wand to Lorian, pointing exuberantly at Spica to indicate that he should use it on her.

Flying out of the silent area with her arms full of potions, Pai plunks them into Lorian's arms just as he's finished cleaning himself up. "Here! What're these?--Spica! Are you okay?!?" The excitable gnome nearly bumps into her friend as she zooms over to check her wounds. She keeps babbling, but no one can hear her in the silent zone. She offers a potion, showing with her fingers that it'll only heal Spica a very tiny bit. (Potion of CLW)

Does the silence go under the balconies, where Lorian is presumably standing?

"Eeew! Tull, you've got something stuck to your axe there. A little bit of monk goo, see? Yeah, that's kinda gross. ... Sooo, that was a thing. Um, I kinda feel bad. Like, we're gonna have to tell the sad old master that we killed these folks, and he'll feel all guilty and sad-mad about it. Maybe we lay them out all nice-like--show respect for their bodies and all? After we search their pockets for clues and whatnot, of course." Pai babbles from above the silenced area, then flies down to check their pockets for said clues and whatnot.

"OH! WAIT! We weren't supposed to be killing everyone here, were we? Ooops!" Pai pulls her next "punch", aiming at the gray monk.

Normally I'd say "Let's do everything!" But as this group seems to have lost steam, I'm leaning slightly towards skipping it. Either way works for me, but you can use this as your tie-breaker if needed.

Determined to actually hit the meanie who beat up Spica so bad, Pai stretches out her arms with a piercing shriek--pity the librarian isn't here to shush her. Jagged arcs of lightening coalesce around her, absorbing into her skin and causing her to glow with a harsh, bluish-white light. Twisting her face into a snarl (a cute little snarl, honestly, though she'd be incensed if she knew anyone thought so), she aims an extra-thick bolt of electricity at the Gebbite Woman.

Magnetic Infusion: Until the end of my next turn, attacks vs. Red made with metal weapons get +4 on the attack rolls. Red gets -4 on Reflex saves to avoid metal objects.
Magnetic Infusion costs 2 Burn, but Pai used Gather Power as a move action to cancel out 1 Burn, and used her Internal Buffer to cancel out 1 more Burn. She takes 0 Burn this turn.

"It is never nice fighting a battle in terrain that the enemy set up. Here is some tactical advice to help things." he said before sounding a battle cry to stir the others.

Tactician. Everyone gains Precise strike for 6 rounds (+1d6 damage when flanking. Sound the Charge. +2 to attacks and damage, +10' to charges. Not sure if Pai can hear it

[ooc]Pai is 25' up, along with The Rock, so should be above the range of the Silence effect. I don't know if she's outside your radius, though.

Looks like I have a tshirt reroll available, but I'd rather save it. This seems like a low-stakes nat 1, and I get the feeling that dryad's going to give a more fraught opportunity eventually.

"What?! Like really?!!" Pai shrieks as the Gebbite chick pummels Spica into the floor. The fact that her pal's attacker can't hear her indignation makes her hopping mad. "Oh, you're going down too, you sorry-looking hind end of a donkey!" The vibrant peach gnome sends an extra-large blast of electricity at the Gebbite's posterior.

...and it's a pathetical miss. A book on the shelf behind the woman nearly catches on fire. "Gol ding it!" Pai's enraged antics in the air make it look like she's got ants crawling under her clothes.

Metakinesis (Empower) costs 1 Burn (9 NL damage). Now that Pai has 3 Burn, it triggers Elemental Overflow (+2 Dex & Con) and a 15% chance to ignore crits and sneak attacks. Her header shows the updated stats.

Pai's mouth makes the motions for saying "What the hecking fudge?! You'd think wise monks wouldn't get their minds controlled so easily! Geez!" But of course, no sound comes out. Instead, she flies back to tell everyone else to hurry up. Bursting into the talking statue room, she blurts: "There's a silence spell in the library, and three folks who wanna fight! Hurry up, slowpokes!" Then she zooms back in and hovers 25 feet above the trio of violent presumed-brain-puppets, waving cheekily and blowing kisses.

"Oh. My. Gosh! I'm turning into a mummy just being in here! I know books gotta stay dry so they don't rot an all, but seriously! How'd they get it this dry?!" Pai babbles as she flies around, grateful that she has room to swoop without hitting her head. She starts perusing the sights at the top of the room and works her way down. "What are we looking for now? More sections of that creepy book? Or ways to wake up those hardcore meditaters?" She looks for areas where the dust has been disturbed recently.

"Welp!" Pai announces: "I've never been a patient one. Cover me!" She zooms over and boops the statue on the nose. "Boop!"

If it doesn't attack her, she'll start searching the room in earnest.

Pai can't help it. She starts giggling. "Heeheehee! Let's put a mirror up in front of it. Anybody got a mirror? Or maybe we blindfold it. Hahaha! --Oh, hey, there's another set of doors down by the statue. Who wants to bet on whether it'll try to whack us if we go by?"

Pai cocks her head at the statue. She's so tempted to fly over and cover the statue's eyes with her hands and ask if it sees thieves *now*, but her noggin is still aching from that beam a few minutes ago, so she stays put near the door. "See the fact that it *assumes* we're thieves really makes me think the crazy dryad is controlling it. Unless it says that whenever *anyone* comes in here. --Say! Statue! Can you say anything else? Like, let's have a conversation. Why do you think we're thieves?"

Looks like we haven't received a room description for the room with four beds (Pai is at the door on the map). Though if there's nothing there, I'm okay if you move us along to the next room with something to do/see/RP. We're going counter-clockwise around the courtyard.

Pai giggles. It's unclear why, but maybe the bump on her head knocked a screw loose. Regardless, she flies with the group to the next door, chuckling all the way.

Maybe you do need that tether Spica comments. You okay?

"Mmmaaayyybeeee?" Pai still has her eyes squeezed shut against the pain and her hands pressed over the bump on her head. "If that dryad saw this, she's prob'ly snickering right now."

"Pai, you might want to come down a bit, so that you do not find the ceiling the hard way." Lorian said.

"Tooo laaate." Pai moans woefully, rubbing the growing goose egg on her noggin and drifting down to fly at everyone else's head-height. Her eyes catch on the diary page. "Whoa! Nikita! Dang! You look good!" She blows a wolf whistle as she ogles the drawing. "Wow, they really can't decide if they love you or hate you, huh? The 'thief' statue and this, uh, fan pic? Like, make up your minds, folks! Geez!"

"Wha?" Pai looks up at the ceiling, flying up there to search for more parchments.

She bonks her head on a rafter almost immediately, stars sparking across her vision. "OW! Gol ding it! That hurts like bloody O!"

"Okay, so let's reconnoiter." Pai declares, mispronouncing the word as re-COIN-ih-ter, though whether that's accidental or intentional is unclear. If these folks aren't a threat, we'll look around for the rest of the manuscript. Maybe it's in pieces all over this place!"[/b]

Before leaving the room, she throws her arms around the old master and plants a kiss on the top of his head. "Thanks for your help! We'll help them as soon as we can!"

One vote for opening the door in the northeast corner of the courtyard. Pai's token is right in front of it. She's flying 10 feet up, so someone can stand beneath her. She'll even avoid tickling your ears with her toes (unless you linger long enough for her to get bored).

"What's a 'dawg'?" Pai cocks her head. "Does it look like a dog?"

Instead of waiting for an answer, she meanders over to the people on the floor and looks closely at them. "They're so...still. And silent. It's kinda creepy." She leans close to one of their ears, fully expecting to suddenly get grabbed by the throat, and shouts: "HelllooooOOOOOooooo! Yoo-hoo! Anybody in there?"

Not trained in Heal, but since The Rock is the only one who tried that check and they've not posted since Apr. 25, I'll give it a whirl.

"Whew! Thanks, The Rock!" Pai throws her arms around his neck for a tight squeeze, then flies up to scratch behind Ginger's eye ridges, gazing thoughtfully up at the collection hanging from the pillar. "It does kinda look like a tree."

Not sure what to do next. Maybe once The Rock responds to their spoiler we'll get a better idea.

"Wha--? OH! Thank you, The Rock!" She hands over the wand. "It's going to take a while. I'll probably have to buy a new one after this mission."

She has 14 charges left on her wand of CLW.

@GM Jhaeman: Do you advise for or against rolling all the wand uses in one batch? I don't know if there's a good chance that we'll get interrupted, and it would be a pain to retcon/recalculate how many HP she'd have at a particular point in that process.

"Ohhhhhh. So she's crazy. That explains it. Well, did she possess these folks? Can we wake 'em up or something?" Pai remarks, gesturing to the four seated individuals. Rather than try to wake them herself, she pulls out her wand of Cure Light Wounds and starts trying to tap herself with it.

HP healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Now at 52/120 HP. I'll only do one of these at a time, in case something happens. It would be a pain to retcon if I healed too much.

Thanks! Now for some clarification:

In this post, which occurs after Pai fell unconscious, you state that Spica is able to get to the manuscript without experiencing what Pai did. Is that correct?

That's all. I just want to know if it looks like it was a one-time trigger/trap or if everyone will set it off when they go up there until we disable/dispell it.

@GM: Does Pai recognize the dryad from her vision?

"Heeheeheehee!" Pai giggles like she's half drunk at Tull's behavior; the juxtaposition of the childlike words and his gruff, tough demeanor tickle her fancy. But since he's messing with the lady and there's strange nasty stuff going on, she decides to chug a healing potion while she has a chance.

Potion of Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 1 ⇒ (7, 2, 8) + 1 = 18
Pai's at 43/120 HP. She has 18 NL damage, so can take 25 points of damage before passing out.

Pai has a scroll of Cure Critical Wounds. If there's time and someone's willing, could someone please cast it on her?

"OoOoo... I don't feel so gooood... Uhhhh, thanks Nikita." Pai sits up groggily. "Whoaa! How'd I get back down here? OHMYGOSH! YOUGUYS! I had a vision! There was a huge pine tree in a forest, and a wave of necromantic energy started coming, like, really fast, and killing all the trees! There was a naked chick with wands, and she was trying to do stuff, and turned a peninsula into an island, but she got stuck on the mainland and got killed by the dark wave of death! And that's when everything went dark for me. Yeesh. ... Um, I'm still feeling really rotten..."

Pai has 7 HP above her NL damage. This NL damage cannot be healed until she rests for 8 hours because it's from Burn.

@GM Jhaeman: At what height did Pai notice the pine forest smell? At what height did she fall unconscious? At what height(s) is/are the Fleshforge Manuscript and the other items of note? Feel free to give vague answers if you feel it's justified.
