Here's Oorin: a Gnome Wizard (Fire Elementalist). Everything's under the profile. If there's an area you'd like expanded then please let me know.
I've never used Hero Points and don't know the AP enough to guess how it would fit.
Dal brings up good points. One other thing I've seen come up before is how to handle intiative. Many GM's run it as normal but this can slow things down as people are waiting for one person to post. Others have done group initiative which means less waiting around but some people don't like the simplification.
Here's some more detail on the submissions so far.
In case anyone was wondering (or cares), here are the main five and the other submissions (in no particular order):
Michael Thronedweller: Human Paladin - Undead Scourge
Canaan Lorrimer: Changeling Oracle - Bones
The Slaughter Priest: Human Oracle - Battle
Karl the Bastard: ½ Elf Ranger - Guide
Shanoa: Human Inquisitor - Milani
Roland Savardson: Human Alchemist
Oorin: Gnome Wizard - Fire
Dantrian Almaeus: Human Alchemist - Beastmorph
Aric Aegisbane: ½ Elf Inquisitor - Pharasma
Prof. Faradir Rokannon: Human Wizard - Universalist
Wilhelm White: Human Adept/Warrior - Gestalt
Lorald Urnhack: Fighter (Not sure if this was an actual submission or not)
@DM Haldhin: Good to know about the Harrow cards. While I don't know the AP, it seems that if the developers took the time to make something of special import for a series, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to use it. It adds a certain amount of mystery to the game since, unless you've played the AP before, it's something you'll never have encountered and the players don't know what to expect.
The problem I have with alignments and "Evil" spell descriptors isn't the alignments themselves but rather how closely they were tied with the original "Great Wheel" cosmology of earlier editions (where every possible alignment was tied to a metaphysical reality). Once they moved away from that certain aspects became more nebulous.
Anyways, I eargerly await seeing which lamb you pick for the meatgrinder...I mean, which character you select for your most excellent game ;)
Pretty much XD, I'd say he spends all his spell slots on Divination and Light spells.
Light is a cantrip. XD
Good thing he had some abjuration prepped for the Balrog, although maybe an Interposing Hand would have been better.
And that's just the movie. In the novel, he simply parries the Balrog's sword with Glamdring which glows white and destroys the Balrog's sword. The spell to destroy the bridge shatters Gandalf's staff. His earlier attempt to use magic to hold back the hordes fails and overwhelms him, sending him flying back down the stairs. He only reluctantly uses his magic to start a campfire on Caradhras despite the fact that the Fellowship is on the verge of freezing to death. And of course, he's wearing Narya the Great the entire time.
I agree completely. Still, I look through a lot of recruitment threads (even if I'm not submitting a character) and I can't remember even once seeing a group with duplicate classes; including one Kingmaker game that had eight characters being selected.
I like to point at the Fellowship of the Ring.
They had plenty of duplicates.
Nothings bad about having characters with things in common. Gives them something to talk about.
A good analogy. Almost the whole group duplicates. They're almost all fighter types; even the Hobbits becoming so except for Frodo (Merry and Pippin most obviously). Even Gandalf used Glamdring more than he used magic.
Ooo I hope so. The Cards looked very interesting. I only read what was in the guide, so I don't think I know the full situation behind it, but they look very fun and flavorful.
I never understood the reason he didn't want to use them (he never explained) and not being familiar with the AP I couldn't really say anything. I did buy a Harrow deck at last years GenCon and have found it to be pretty interesting. I find Harrow readings to be very entertaining.

I think its silly to worry about duplicate classes. Especially when each class also has like at least 5 Sub-classes within it. Like me and Radavel. Same class, but pretty darned different.

I'll keep Oorin as my submission; I've always wanted to play an elementalist Wizard and, nowadays, people seem to prefer Sorcerers. Haven't played a Gnome is a long while either.
I actually like that the core group has class duplication in it. Looking at other recruitment threads, it sometimes seems that people are afraid to pick the same class more than once or have a party where every "role" isn't filled. Not having to worry about that, I think, let's people develop their characters more naturally without feeling that they "have" to take something.
One question I have is that, in the game that didn't go anywhere, the GM had decided not to use the special Harrowing cards that are part of the AP. I don't know why as I'm not familiar with the AP nor what effect those cards have on it. Is this game going to utilise that fature?
Sir Jolt here. Here's Oorin the Fire Wizard. I hate the avatar but the site won't let me change it (not that Paizo's Gnome selection of avatars is all that great anyways).
On another note, apart from the Player's Guide I have little knowledge of this AP. I don't run my personal games in Golarion so I don't buy the AP's. If I've left anything out, let me know. Also, if anyone has ideas for linking up backgrounds I'm up for that; can get some interesting stories that way.
Oorin walks up to the door to feel the heat for himself. He turns to the others, "I enjoy some protection from heat and flame; would you like me to open the door?"
If no one reads it to him, Oorin will use Linguistics to try and understand the writing. Normally, this roll is made in secret by the DM. Do you want to do that or, for the sake of brevity, do you want me to just go ahead and do it? Bonus is +7.
"Necromancy of some type; powerful too. An indicator or cornerstone of a larger ritual or effect would be my guess. No way to know exactly what it's an indicator of though. Probably a ward; that would be the most likely."
Oorin shakes his head and let's out an exaggerated sigh. "If magic were a family then necromancers would be the child they didn't mean to have."
Oorin trudges through the rain in miserable silence.
Gods above and below, what lousy weather.
Upon reaching the fork, Oorin looks down at bloody "V" and how it resists the rain.
"Tacky," he declares without preamble. "though the fact that it is unaffected by the weather suggests that whoever placed it here considered at least the possibility that someone would be coming this way. Does the symbol mean anything to anyone?"
Does it mean anything to Oorin? Dungeoneering, Engineering, the Planes, and Religion are at +7; Arcana's at +8
"Certainly, if the prison is a place of danger we don't want her going there alone but," Oorin scratches his head in puzzlement here, "isn't the prison run by the local constabulary? What makes this one special?"
Just wondering about the state of this game. There's been only one post in almost 10 days and that was mine. AP's are fun and Carrion Crown is one of the ones I've most wanted to play in (along with Serpent's Skull and Rise of the Runelords). But they're very long, typically going to levels 15-17 or so. PbP's are, by nature, pretty slow moving and to have any chance of progressing through an AP, the pace has to be pretty constant. One post ever week and a half just isn't going to get it done.
Oorin, having slept extremely well, came quietly down for breakfast. He's taken aback by Hrolf's outburst.
"Ah, a fight? A prison? What's all this about?" Oorin asks quizically. Then his eyes light up, "Books did you say? The Professor's? Where?" Oorin begins looking around eagerly as if expecting a pile of books to appear out of nowhere.
Oorin ponders what he's heard as he follows Kendra. "Hmmm...if these events started after the Professor's death then perhaps he was at work trying to prevent...well, whatever. And perhaps his means of keeping necrotic forces at bay has vanished with his passing...all just a theory of course."
Oorin ponders a few moments longer and the moves up to Kendra's side. "Excuse me, but did the Professor have a residence here? Is it still intact?"
"Nice to meet you all", Oorin says cheerfully. "My name is Oorincunathysin but no one ever pronounces anything after Oorin correctly, not even other gnomes, so just call me Oorin."
"I should say that I didn't know the Professor well. I studied magic at the colleges in Katheer but circumstances forced me to flee...er, leave Qadira rather quickly. The good Professor helped me out of a really tight spot and we talked about the nature of magic quite extensively. I only recently heard of his passing and since I was travelling anyways, I decided to head up here and see what happened and to pay my respects. Death by falling statue isn't exactly what I was expecting to hear."
Oorin looks around. "The tension around here is pretty thick. Even if I hadn't seen those flaming skulls I would've wondered that something unusual was going on around here. This isn't related to the Professor's death, is it?"
Oorin will listen to any explanation the other party members give him. Otherwise, as he's new to town, he has no particular immediate needs and will take Kendra up on her offer.
"Do you mean to say that a statue fell on him?" Oorin asks with a puzzled expression. "I hope he didn't suffer at least, and please forgive my ignorance as I have never been to these lands before, but is falling statuary a common means of death around here?"
"My name is Oorincunathysin but just call me Oorin; it's the only part anyone ever pronounces correctly anyways," he says cheerfully. "Thanks for the offer but I am well accustomed to fire and flame and need no care."
"I'm from Qadira originally but have been travelling the last few years. I only recently learned of the Professor's death and, as he once did me a rather significant favor, I journeyed here to see what had happened to him. I didn't expect to arrive being greeted by a burning building and flaming skulls though." Oorin laughs as if he's just made a joke.
I didn't think about this until I leveled but when I first created Oorin, I did thie first thing I almost always do when making a non-human: I bought up his penalized stat. I don't like dump statting and though I'm not familiar with the AP's very much beyond the general, I've seen some of the pregens for them. In Kingmaker, 3 of the 4 pregens dump-statted Charisma; the Dwarf down to a 6. I would never allow that at my home games.
However, upon reflection, I can think of no reason why Oorin should be stronger than an average gnome. His life has been largely academic, he's a shrimp and there's little to justify why he should be as strong as an average human, IMO. I'd like to drop his Strength back down to 8 and then boost up wither his Wisdom or Charisma (probably Charisma) if that's okay.
As Oorin walks out of the building he's talking to, apparently, nobody. "Nice fire. Not the place I would have started it, though."
As the crowd begins to cheer he is taken aback. He begins looking around to see if the cheering involves him somehow. When he realizes that it does, he waves back to the crowd somewhat half-heartedly. As the cheering continues however, he warms up and begins waving back more energetically frequently bowing and blowing kisses to the crowd.

DM Hamied:
This is the first time I've played a PF Gnome and I completely forgot about the Obsessive quality. I selected Profession: Architecture for his obsession even though I think the 3.x/PF skill system isn't really robust enough to justify having a Profession skill. I simply found it amusing.
I'm currently out of town (in Dayton) but I'll be back home later tonight and I'll post my level up then.
I'm from the Cleveland area and I sympathize if you're stuck at Hopkins; it is one of the most dull airports around. And Fall in Cleveland is basically Winter with rain instead of snow.
Seeing that the skulls are quickly being dispatched Oorin continues to fight the evergrowing flames (k15). He shouts out the door to the townsfolk through the door, "Hurry up with that water!"
I'm assuming my Unseen Servant hasn't returned with another bucket yet.
Oorin rushes in the door with a bucket of water but stops momentarily in startlement at the sight of burning skulls flying around the room. The flames next to him quickly grab his attention though and he throws the water on it k15.
I'm treating this as if I was using the create water spell. If that isn't right, let me know.
When a source of water and buckets are located, Oorin will cast Unseen Servant telling it to "fetch me buckets of water". Oorin will then then move inside to use the buckets as they are brought to him.
I'm assuming that I probably just arrived in town with a caravan or stagecoach and was attracted by the commotion. Since the building isn't at the raging inferno stage, he'll probably wander in out of curiosity to see what's going on. He has Fire Resistance:5 so isn't particularly worried about getting burned; will that make it easier to put out fire in a square?
Also, I forgot that HeroLab doesn't export a wizard's spellbook. I'll update that in my profile shortly.
I'll say I arrived outside and will rush in as soon as the people are no longer jamming the entrance. A gnome with orange hair would certainly have been noticed during the meeting so it would seem odd to have me inside now.
I'm not real happy with this avatar but the Gnome and Halfling options for avatars is pathetic. I didn't pick up a lot of basic gear since I assumed that there would be time to buy extra stuff later and, with my mediocre strength, didn't want to lug a lot of unnecessary stuff around.
DM Hamied:
As for Lorrimer and Ustalav, I excpect that it was Lorrimer who discovered Oorin stowed away onbaord the ship as he fled Qadira and didn't turn him in. This would be the debt owed. However, even had he been named in the will, Oorin was traveling so much that any message to him would have arrived late assuming it ever reached him at all. Since the Professer was quite well-traveled, Oorin may have heard of his passing second hand and, out of curiosity, traveled to Ustalav just to see what was going on.
Since he had never been outside of Qadira before, travelling the Inner Sea has been Oorin's life since fleeing. He would have made his way to Ustalav eventually. Oorin tends to be optimistic and fearless until confronted with something firsthand (as what happened with the Bleaching which he now dreads and is determined to never succumb to).
Oorin has an annoyin habit of changing his name if he gets bored with the one he's using. If someone tries to call him by his full name, Oorincunathysin, he'll always insist that they're pronouncing it wrong. This is not his birth name, which he no longer remembers (this does not bother him in the least), just the name he is currently using.
As I have no prior knowledge of the Carrion Crown AP, outside the basics, I'm open to any other ideas or tweaks you want to add in.
