I tried so hard to avoid getting that correction too... but that's what I thought too. The argument could be made based RAW that, as an ethnicity isn't a race, the trait doesn't allow it but that seems really pedantic... Thank you for the fast replies!

So, the adopted trait allows you to choose a racial trait from a different race. Specifically, it seems to require you to do so. Human ethnicities have specific race traits as well. So my question is: Can a human say they were adopted by a human family of a different ethnicity and thus choose a racial trait for human but with the different ethnicity requirement. For example: A varisian human takes adopted and chooses a shaonti only trait (Shoanti Spirit-Singer, for example http://archivesofnethys.com/TraitDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Shoanti%20Spirit-sin ger).

This question would probably also apply to an Aasimar or Tiefling choosing a trait from a different heritage.

Tl;DR - Does human ethnicity or aasimar/tiefling heritage count as a race for the purpose of the Adopted trait?

Sorry if this is kind of a dead thread but I have been thinking of trying to write in Devil Fruits to a Pirate-y style adventure for a while and am happy to see this thread. Just some quick cannon information on Devil Fruits.
1. Devil fruits actually taste disgusting and can cause the consumer to be sick for a couple hours before the fruit takes over them.
2. Zoan types are basically as discussed above. They are explained to Multiply the users present martial and physical capabilities but do not add any new abilities other than those from the animal/mythical creature transformation
3. Logia (element/forces) fruits similarly don't change the users inherent abilities but the combat abilities granted by the fruit (for example Ace's Fire Fist) are present and at full capacity as soon as the user is acclimated to their power. The immunity to attacks doesn't happen until the user gets used to the fact that they do not have a physical form anymore (so that could work well for scaling abilities for level up)
4. Paramecia types tend to get a small static boost to their inherent abilities but it's usually explained that the users power will grow as they become more creative with their power. This would be a good fruit to give certain feats or abilities at various levels and such.
5. There are some abilities that trump others in nonstandard ways. Like how Luffy was immune to the Electricity logia fruits powers as he is made of rubber.

Anyways that was a lot but I really like this idea and had noticed not many had thrown in ideas on how to add paramecia types and that some of the information on Logia's was slightly inaccurate... Ftr, the information comes from the wiki and the show XD

Ok, so then tis back to the quickdraw light shield for me then. Thanks for clarifying

I'm making an arcane dualist bard after reading that bards can cast with a shield. But upon looking this up online I have yet to find a definitive explanation as to what this means. It's my understanding that with a Buckler I could already cast but I would lose my AC Bonus granted by my shield. Would this still apply for a Bard? What about heavier shields?

For example, say I used a light shield. My understanding is that, while I could still cast I would lose my AC bonus from the shield? Or could I keep the AC bonus because I'm specifically able to cast with a Shield?

Currently I'm trying to set my character up with a heavy shield but what's to stop someone from gaining tower shield proficiency and casting behind that? (other than the annoyance of the shield itself)

I've found many thread on nearly similar topics regarding clerics and a few that bring up this ability but this specific question is usually passed over.

Quick question for everyone. I don't have the unchained book so I can't verify this through there but On Hero Lab I purchased the Unchained content. I was trying to make a character for one of my campaigns and I decided, since catfolk rogues were always fun I'd try the new class with one. I then noticed that the Vicious Claws Rogue Talent wasn't on the unchained rogue talents list. Actually none of the catfolk only rogue talents are on the list. Is this on purpose or just an error on Hero Labs part? If it's on purpose would anyone be able to explain why it isn't available?

Why not teleport away 5 feet, stand and take your 5 foot step then?
