Sorry for the delay in my response, my last few days have been none-stop chores. And bad sleep on top of that.

I am enjoying the campaign a lot, but to be honest, I'm not sure how much Nyd is contributing to things. Not just in combat mind you, but in almost any situation. My RP game isn't strong either, though that is mostly on me as a player.

Sorry for being less communicative the last few weeks. My father's health (whom I live with) has had a dramatic drop in health the last couple of weeks. We knew it was coming, he received a 'this is going to kill you' diagnosis a couple of years ago, but it wasn't expected this fast. The doctors think it might just be a temporary complication with some inflammation, but there's no guarantee and his new health condition is stressing me the f#%+ out.

Add on the fact that my last remaining Grandparent is just done though thankfully I am not her primary care provider (and doesn't that thought make me fill guilty.)

And now work has taken radical Covid-19 steps. Which admittedly since my father is 100% the 'this could kill you' demographic I don't 100% mind, but tomorrow is going to be a nightmare as we prepare.

So I guess you can say I am hyper-stressed right now, sorry.


I don't intend to quit, but my post quality might not be good over the next little while.

Nyd once again withdraws his Wand of Detection and uses it to cast Detect Magic and begins a thorough sweep of the mound.

Zdravko can easily be called away by clan or monistary. I'm afraid I don't know anyone who could join, but we could use another front liner, lol.

Nyd looks pensive as he examines the crown. "I fear for the condition of your friend's mind however, and I am not sure who, or what, will be freed by removing the crown."

"Veratash, wait a moment." Nyd says aloud as he notice the spell being cast. "Let us try to determine if the crown is safe to remove before attempting it."

Nyd attempts to identify the nature of the stones. Nyd will use a charge from his wand of detect magic to support the effort.

"Tharivol, make sure to break up the chant a little every once in a while. It would not do to activate some sort of ritual."

Overhearing Briar's question, Nyd speaks up.

"I have never encountered a dragon in person, and it was not something I had been prepared for."

Nyd pauses a bit before considering, his tone less sure. "My...'trainers' told me, that in the unlikely event that I should encounter one, to simply ignore it. More specifically it was said, 'Dragons see themselves as separate from other and unless they want something specific from you, they are likely to ignore you.'"

"My own reading and scuttlebutt I have heard indicate that they are proud, possibly to a fault, and grow stronger and larger with age."

Unfortunately if we had pressed ahead we'd all be in serious wounds (at best) with almost every healing option expended. Maybe think about it as, having broken into the compound and faced unexpected resistance, we've paused to regroup and swap mags?

"Was the cult leader a dragon, or was he someone who changed into a dragon? There was that weird dragon shard embedded in him after all."

Nyd will use his Healing Hit Points to top up his HP. (Do we get the benefit of Song of Rest from Tharivol?) He will also use Arcane Recovery to recover a 3rd level spell slot.

Ack, I forgot that Glyph of Warding has a very high material cost. It's at times like this I regret not taking Alarm spam.

Unless anyone objects Nyd would like at least a short rest. A long rest might be a little too long in this particular circumstance, but Nyd would not say no if the group decides to go that way.

I don't remember what is restored in a level up. IE HP, spell slots, etc. If we got restored, then the following line isn't necessary.

"I absolutely request we take at least a short rest first, however. I need to regain spell slots at an absolute minimum.

Also, the maximum value of my arcane ward went up by two points to 16.

Nyd sets action to words and begins pursuit with by moving in the direction of the fleeing Kalashtar.

Unless someone stops him. Nyd will simply chase Sorashana until she stops from fatigue, presuming that he has more endurance than her.

Wisdom Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Finally.

Finally shaking off the dragon's aura of fear, Nyd rapidly moved to the south-east next to Veratash so he could support the team with his short-ranged heal spell. And not be adjacent to the dragon, lol.

Nyd says as quietly as he can on the battlefield and still be heard."Vertash, I am still not really equipped for non-lethal takedowns. I can change targets if you believe it would be beneficial however."

Nyd once again gestures with his standby spell, this time adding the extra gestures required to use his largest spell slot. The bolts of force appear and race towards the dragon, while preparing to counter either the dragon's breath weapon, or the next spell that Veratash's companion used.

Despite his words, Nyd waves his wand and again launches four bolts of force against the supernatural creature.

Nyd flinches backwards. Dragon's were powerful beyond what he was equipped, mentally and physically, to handle.

"So much for the conversation of resources!" Nyd chuckles in a way that felt quite fatalistic. "I suppose it is time to go 'all-in' as some people say!"

Nyd gestures with his wand, and four bolts of magic fly across the field towards the dragon.

Magic Missile, level 2: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Magic Missile, level 2: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

As the spell raced forth, Nyd prepared to counter the dragon if it attempted to cast a spell, or to blunt the force of its breath weapon if it were to target Nyd himself.

Nyd moves closer to the main party, and points his wand a the remaining Dolgaunt. "Vertash, I hope you know what you are doing! I am not equipped for non-lethal takedowns!"

Even as Nyd says this the Dolgaunt, frosts over once again.

DC 15 Constitution to negate. On a failure the Dolgaunt has disadvantage on its next attack.

Nyd gestures with his wand, which he touches to the dying Veratash.

*Sigh*, heal for 4 Veratash. Boy, I am getting nothing done this fight.

Nyd stands unsteadily, and advances 15 feet closer to the majority of the party.

Discovering that he had just gotten close enough, Nyd gestures with his wand, launching a blob of acid that strikes both Dolgaunt. I think, if I am wrong I will double move and move to about 20ft north of the dead Chuul

Nyd winces as the Chuul throws of the effects of his spell, but he feels no choice but to continue.

I was letting everyone else decide how were were going to do this.

"I am going to be conserving resources. Please let me know if I need to bring greater power to bear."

Nyd quickly draws his wand and makes the sharp mathamtical gestures of his Frosbite spell, frosting the Chull over.

DC 15 to negate. On a failure it takes the damage and disadvantage on its next attack.

Action 1
Nyd cast Mage Armor on himself, and raised his Arcane Ward, as the group enter the worst of the swamplands. While Nyd hoped its protections would not be needed, he didn't have high hopes.

Overhead Asuz flies overwatch, doing her very best to prevent the group from being ambushed on their way to the ambush.

Action 2
Nyd suppressed a sigh. He would never understand why anyone consorted with creatures from outside the bounds of Eberron, let alone beings of literal madness.

'The preventative maintenance has been working.' Nyd thought to himself as he moved silently over the broken ground.

Nyd approaches Batul and quietly hands the orc his metal-sheet spell book.

"Not all of your people will be participating in this battle. Please give the most trustworthy this tome. Assuming I return I will reclaim it, however, if we do not return, there are instructions for its distribution in the inside cover. Great care should be taken that the instructions be followed, the tome contains secrets different, but just as dangerous, as the ones the cultist seek."

Since I am immune to disease, and have no blood anyway, do I still need to make the con save?

Sorry the last two days have been crazy at work. There having me doing jobs far beyond what they hired (or pay) me for.

Action 1

"A tribe like the Bonetree gathers many enemies, are there any other local tribes that might want to join in the assualt?"

While it is difficult to tell, Nyd looks momentarily concerned. "Also, I wish your people to stay as safe a possible. Do not stand and fight if you do not have to, hit-and-fade tactics would be better.

Action 2

Nyd takes time to swap spells around, removing Ice Knife in exchange for Invisibility.

Action 3

"Do not perform the attack early on my behalf," Nyd lowers a pair of googles over his face. "My visions is more than sufficient."

Nyd is silent for the moment. Giving everyone, including himself, a moment to center themselves.

Nyd moves forward cautiously, not moving at full speed, but making sure he was close enough to insure that his shorter ranged spells had sufficient reach.

He then makes the mathematical gestures that summons killing frost at the phantom.

I thought the arms were pretty neat actually. The 'arm detachment' trick got Nyd a new phobia, lol.

I'll admit that sometimes that sometimes Nyd doesn't feel to be contributing too much. I keep burning through spell slots, but my rolls always feel low, particularly with skill checks, and while I've cast every spell I have prepare at least once (with one exception), I keep falling back on the same spell.

Realizing that the opening created by his party, Nyd gestures mechanically with his wand, and launches a bolt of chilling cold frosts the phantom over.

Frostbite: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4) + 1 = 8 -- DC 17 Con Save to negate. If it fails it has disadvantage on its first attack next turn.

Got it to work. All I had to do was log out, put the item in my cart, and log back in during check-out. This cleared my cart which let me buy the mod. Of course I can't buy any of the pins I wanted to get, it won't let me even put them in the cart anymore, but *shrug* oh well.

Anyone else having issues with the Paizo website right now? I have to get a mod to run on Thursday, but my shopping cart simply will not load.

Also, I should be out of level 1 slots. I had one when the Phantom appeared and then threw a level 1 magic missile at it.

Nyd begins to repeat his gestures from the previous spell, but the gestures go on a bit longer, and a little more complex, as Nyd uses a higher spell slot to cast the anti-apparition spell.

And again, Nyd prepares to counter spells or elemental damage, though it seems that this foe might wield neither.

Nyd also readies to absorb elements if the phantom attacks that way, or to counter-spell if it attempts to launch a spell. Absorb elements would have to use a level 2 slot.

"Also, should we stop to recover our wounds? While I certainly have not desire to stay here," Nyd does something like a Warforged shudder, "I also wouldn't want to run into another 'real' thing with many injuries."

Looking at the situation, Nyd is split on his actions. While he could heal Zdravko, what would require him stepping closer to the severed limbs....

Which with great relucatance, Nyd does reaching out with a glowing hand to touch Zdravko. "Tharivol, keep woking on the door. I will support from here."

Zdravko, you stabilize with 2 HP, because unfortunately, you are not a warforged.

Seeing the limbs Nyd shivers harder, this was close to a personal nightmare of his.

"Fall and cease!" With a shout Nyd gestures with his most common spells, and launches three magic missiles at the swarm of limbs.

Nyd eyes the 'decorations' of the Sharp "Subtle decorations," he says in a tone so dry the sarcasm might as well be wearing a hat.

Nyd eyes the gate doors. "If no one else minds, I believe it would be best if I opened these doors. I am far less likely to catch something from their poorly maintained condition."

"After we make sure they are safe to open at all."

Nyd shivers a bit at the howl. "Do you think that is a sign of intimidation, or occupation?"

"I'll admit you have a point at least on the trust issue. On the other point, however, I was think of us more like a small scouting force."

"You are right that this tribe would have its own way of doing things, so letting them do them while we attend to other maters ahead of them seems to be a more optimal. Admittedly this would require more trust on our part, so I can see where the difficulties might lie, but we also don't know the true extent of our enemy either. This might just be a single cult that's put some leaders in the right place, but it also might be a significant foothold, and we cannot always count on being able to sneak up on our enemies."

Nyd shrugs. "At the very least, they would be a loud distraction."

"I am afraid I have to respectfully disagree Artur. While I too am reluctant to get others involved in our problems, I suspect in this case we have gotten involved in other's problems. Additional force multipliers are always useful, even if they just--what was the phrase? 'Hold our cloaks.'"

Nyd gestures at the fortress. "In addition, there is much to learn from how the enemy builds. This is an opportunity we should not pass, though all due precautions should be taken, of course."
