My apologies, I'm used to everyone posting their actions whenever they could get to it with caveats in case the battlefield has changed. If we're expected to post in initiative order won't that severely slow things down? Honest question, we have a pretty large group and I would think that any steps to help speed along the process would be encouraged.

"Vedjinte!" Nuuko curses in elvish as he pulls another bowstring out of his pack and crouches to begin restringing his bow. He keeps one eye trained on the battle below, hoping his allies fare better than he. Were you waiting for me for some reason?"

Ah, yes. I realized the issue after I gave it some thought. My most prolific archer was an archer cavalier I played in Kingmaker a few years back and I was just so used to using rapid shot after I moved, but it was (obviously) my mount doing the moving, not my character. Now I have my facts straight, and it certainly won't happen again.

Ah, yes I realize I typed kneeling when I meant squatting - I did not intend for him to be prone any longer. Obviously, Nuuko wouldn't be readying himself to fire and remain in a position where he is unable to do so. Plus if he was called out by name, remaining unseen was clearly no longer the goal. I hope you can forgive my error of wording. Nuuko initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Once the gate draws to a close and the signal is given, Nuuko wastes no time in sending two arrows over the wall, hoping to take out the guard before he has the chance to flee. Rapid shot at B8 with Gravity Bow (8 rounds remaining). Arrow 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
My first attack is a nat. 1. Pretty typical start for me. Unfortunately, the first shot crashes into the wall, the arrow splintering, while the second flies off into the wastes, wide of it's mark.

Realizing that the trap was about to be sprung, Nuuko whispers a few words to himself (casting gravity bow) and moves up to a kneeling position, bow and arrow(s) in hand. If he has line of sight, he will prepare to fire upon the bandit outside of the gate (8), otherwise he will fire at the leader (1).

As soon as it is clear to Nuuko whom the leader is (I'm assuming that will be once he starts speaking for the group), he will use his Ranger's Focus ability as a swift action providing him +2 atk/dmg until the target is brought below 0 HP or surrenders. He is also readying a cast of Gravity Bow for when the gates close behind the group and the ambush is sprung. Edit: I forgot to mention that if you consider this a desert environment then my Terrain Bond ability is in effect granting all allies within line of sight and that can hear me a +2 bonus on initiative checks and Perception, Stealth, and Survival skill checks.

I am taking the distract psionic talent and have selected reactionary and convincing liar as my traits. I still haven't found the time to sit down and buy gear, but I have my bow and armor purchased and equipped for the upcoming battle. I kept his background short and sweet (an anomaly for me!): A native of the village, Nuuko ranged the Alluvial Sand Wastes locating and helping escaped slaves make their way to the relative solitude of the hidden village. Whether he has any alternative agendas is a matter for speculation, but so far his goals seem altruistic.

I'm doing this from memory, as I am at work and I haven't quite finalized Nuuko in Hero Lab at home, but now that I think about it I believe this stealth mod is +8 (his perception is the one that is +11), so that would be a 27 stealth before any bonuses.

Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30 Add a +4 to that if you would consider this a sandy or arid environment. Furthermore, if my favored terrain (desert) would apply, that's another +2. Nuuko crouches in the shadows, utterly invisible to all but the keenest of eyes.

I love the sudden change of heart Aubrey. Thanks for the dramatic entrance! As stated, Nuuko is on the roof of hut OP21-22. Hearing his name, Nuuko glances down and gives the newcomers a curt nod, then trains his eyes on the approaching riders. The time to strike was drawing very close... Just before the signal, Nuuko will cast Gravity Bow.

Even though I haven't completed his stat block or background, Nuuko would gladly set up on the roof of OP21-22. Nuuko crouches upon the roof of the hut, recurve bow in hand, his quiver of arrows laid out on the ground next to him so as to not draw the attention of the raiders.

Ok, great. That is settled. There's still the fairly large issue of where in Athas we are. I can't write a character if I don't know where he escaped from or in what village he currently resides. Other than that I should be ready to start building. I might pick a new avatar, this one isn't... Gritty enough.

Alright, so here is what I have so far. The current 8 member party is as follows: Jareen LN Male Human Wizard
Jaryx Twice-Born LN Half-giant Gifted Blade Soulbolt
The first grouping was the "outside" group, and the second grouping is the "inside" group. The outside group made their way inside and the groups have joined forces and are now planning on ambushing the raiders under the cover of night. Is that about the gist of things? I have no need of favored enemy suggestions as the guide archetype replaces that class feature, but I do need a favored terrain. Any suggestions here would be welcome. If only I could just pick desert. :P

2nd: 1d10 ⇒ 3 6
Also, where exactly in Athas are we? Are we outside of the Tyr Region? I've found a great map of that area, but otherwise I'll probably require a bit of guidance. I'm also planning on using this existing alias I had used previously for the character I am submitting.
That sounds fine Fabian. If you are willing to put in that much work then so am I. Let's see how the dice treat me. Dice: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 5) = 11 10
If allowed to reroll the 5: Dice: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 3) = 12 10 Even with the reroll that's only 24 point buy, so I'll take the 25. My (un)luck with the dice strikes again!
Hey Fabian, this is Nuuko from the other Dark Sun thread. Since it appears that the GM for that game has disappeared (to my utter dismay) it brings me great joy to see that you are willing to carry the Dark Sun torch. I'd still be interested in playing Nuuko, I will simply modify his build for this level. I will be honest that I've never played pathfinder at such a high level, but I am excited at the opportunity! Just to refresh your mind, I am planning on going into Soul Archer after I have sufficient levels of Zen Archer and Soulbolt. At 10th level, for example, Nuuko would be Soulbolt 3/Zen Archer 3/Soul Archer 4. Just let me know if this character interests you and I'll get started as soon as we have a firm starting level. Thanks! DARK SUN! Edit: I see from the document you linked that both monk and soulknife are disallowed. Are those the class guidelines you will be adhering to? If so, it seems I'll have to head back to the drawing board for my character. Maybe an Athasian bard-type. A roguey character could be quite fun in the Dark Sun setting. I'll wait for your response before I start brainstorming, however.
Some great concept art for potential characters, or to just get a better sense of the look of Athas and the Dark Sun campaign setting can be found here.
Rynjin wrote: Nearing completion on the Mul Metaforge. Haven't picked a name yet, but I'm considering something descriptive and not at all name-like would fit best. Something like making up a Dwarven word for "Unwanted", since I decided to go with the baked-in flavor of "He was raised as a gladiator". Tossed into the ring weaponless and armorless as an opening act, and manifested his own to protect himself. According to this the dwarven male suffix is var/villi which means outcast or exile. Maybe that's something you can work with. :)
GM, seeking approval on the use of an Elven Outfit listed in the Athasian Emporium. It should be a simple conversion, providing a +2 bonus on stealth checks while in the appropriate terrain (which I would assume would be desert unless the Swiftwing tribe resides someplace else?). I was also wondering if use of this outfit would negate my monk bonus to AC. I would assume not since it is not protective equipment, but just wanted to double check. Thanks.
Here is my (sixteenbiticon) alias GM. If this avatar isn't "elfy" enough for you, just let me know and I will select a more appropriate one. I'm working on my profile, it has taken some extra time due to the custom changes I must make to my hero lab stat block for soulbolt. I will also try to get something on paper concerning his background with Eylissa. I am moving forward with the right hand man idea. After reading Grom's background, I can surmise that they would know each other well and be accustomed to working together for House Daylethanu.
This is sixteenbiticon's avatar. Apologies for the triple post, but every time I have a new question I've just missed the hour mark to edit my previous post... @GM: I am requesting approval for re-flavoring of the trait Wisdom in the Flesh since there are no dieties in Dark Sun, maybe I could link in the meditation aspect into his background? Or possibly have it linked to the elements in some fashion? Some sort of sacred bond to Athas? I wanted to take it to apply my Wis bonus to Stealth. My other trait will be Perceptive Talent. |
