Hey Wicked!

First and foremost, I'm so glad that you're doing well - or as well as any of us can be doing in such times.

Secondly, thanks for the phenomenal game and for the fun. I'm blessed to have gone on this journey with you.

It's completely understandable that you need to step away. Real life always takes precedence.

You know where to find me if you're ever wanting to return. And if not, I wish you all the best because you deserve it.

Take care :)

Li's eyes are as wide as saucers from the moment they are confronted by the boneslayers to the time they're shown to their guest yurt. This whole environment is so different from Korvosa which is all she's really known. Sure she had traveled to Sandpoint but that had been similar enough. This place is completely foreign to the rogue and she keeps her eyes open and her mouth shut to make sure she doesn't accidentally insult their hosts.

The magnificence of Wicked-Claws mesmerizes Li. She had been intrigued by the pseudodragons back in Korvosa but this creature was so much more regal, even with its damaged wings. Still afraid to say anything, she bows her head somewhat towards Wicked-Claws as he is introduced to them. Even when One-Life and Ash Dancer are introduced, the rogue's eyes are continually drawn back towards Wicked-Claws.

Once inside their yurt, Li doesn't even attempt to politely wait when the food and water are presented. She dives right into eating as soon as the enticing aroma causes her to realize how hungry she is. Then her lack of manners registers in her mind and she looks sheepishly towards Thousand Bones and mumbles, "Thank ya."

She then settles herself cross-legged on her sleeping mat and watches as the adults talk. It's not like she has the proper influence to just blurt out any questions about Midnight's Teeth.

Li resists the urge to cheer as Garvid tears his way out of the purple worm and gasps instead as it stabs him. The worm was obviously hurt but not quite dead yet so the rogue sends another barrage of corrosive bolts flying towards the worm.

Time seems to slow down even though her body is sped up. "Garvid!" she screams as she watches the purple worm swallow the strongest person she knows whole before encircling Trinia and herself. She doesn't have time to wonder if they will suffer the same fate. She has to decide if she continues to shoot the gargoyles or try to defend the two of them with her crossbow.

The rogue decides to trust Mouse and Kynes to protect Yazi and directs her shots at the worm. She reaches for the bolts marked with green and hopes that these special bolts will eat a few holes in the worm's hide and brain to make it easier to get Garvid out.

She'll use Corrosive bolts for her shots for extra 1d6 acid damage - hopefully it's not resistant but Li wouldn't know anyways. She'll also use Rapid Shot for another attack.

Trinia's touch exposes Li to a new type of magic and the rogue likes it. Her body becomes even more responsive and between the added grace and the increased speed, Li's body appears to move like water in the desert.

Hearing Yazi's gasp for help, Li does whatever she can to cover the shaman with fire from her crossbow and make herself more of a target.

Li grunts in frustration as her bolts are dodged by her targets but she's not about to give up. The familiar feel of Talfryn's magic infuses Li with magical speed and she makes the most of it by sending three more bolts hurling towards the flying creatures in rapid succession.

Are our characters aware that a cinder cone will erupt or were you just letting us know?

Li manages to dodge a couple of the gargoyles but was unable to avoid the third. She grunts in pain as they fly by but she keeps her sight focused on them. She pivots on her heel as they fly away while simultaneously loading another bolt into her crossbow. She releases her bolts hoping that this time the sun won't wreck her aim.

Li spends some time shopping with Trinia to pick up some last minute items. She had already thought to pick up a filter scarf against the dust but she hadn't gotten a wide-brimmed hat yet so she made sure to get one when Trinia did. The good thing was that she didn't even really need a mirror to know what it looked like, she just had Trinia try on a bunch of hats until she fond one she liked since it would look relatively the same on Li.

The next day, Li psyches herself up for another long day on her horse. She still wasn't completely comfortable in the saddle and that made her all the more grateful for her quick reflexes.

The rogue took in the unique scenery with a mixture of awe and trepidation. The rock forms in fantastic shapes that someone called hoodoos were like nothing she had ever seen before. Sure she had seen stone shaped by artists but never had she seen something shaped so beautifully by nature. But the overall feeling of desolation and complete isolation kept her on edge as they traveled.

When the gruesome display comes into view of the impaled skull, Li recoils a bit. "Be lookin' like somethin' Laori would be appreciatin'," she mutters to herself.

Her head snaps up at the sound of screaming. Seeing some sort of creatures flying towards them, she unleashes her crossbow and loads a bolt while making sure more were in easy reach. "Anyone be knowin' what those be?"

Did Gal come with us or was he only our guide within the city?

Can Li take shots as soon as they get within range or does she have to wait until initiative?

I disagree that Li is the weakest link. But who said it was Laori scrying on Li? ;).

That does answer my unasked question. I thought maybe someone else was scrying since it corresponded with the recurring nightmare.

And for being the weakest link I think Li's will save is one of the lowest, if not the lowest, of the group which would make her the easier target. That's all I had meant.

Laori's revelation that she had been using magic on them to spy on what they were doing sours Li's mood considerably. She stands beside Mouse with her arms crossed and her eyes narrowed, "Whatev'r. Bett'r she be wit' us th'n spyin' on us."

Li hugs Yazi's arm that is linked through hers, "That be a relief. City be strange enough wit'out being apart."

The rogue looks around at everyone as Gav shares the new plan for their short term living arrangements. Seeing no overt objections, she nods. "Thank ya, Gav. This be much better fer everyone."

Assuming she's already purchased the cloak...not that it mattered.

Blissfully unaware of anything but her immediate surroundings, Li follows along looking at all the different altars and shrines. She catches up to Yazi and asks, "How many gods there be?" Her brow furrows, she had always been so busy trying to stay alive on the streets that she'd never contemplated gods much. How many gods do people be needin'?"

When they get to shrine to Zon-Kuthon, Li smiles, "I be likin' cookies." The dichotomy between who she was told Zon-Kuthon to be and the colorful skull reminded her of Laori. "Do we be goin' in?"

The spell of the music is broken as Li watches Yazi go in one direction and Garvid in another, panic appearing on her face. "Tha family ain't be splittin'!"

She marches over to Gav with a dangerous glint in her eye, "Ya need ta be doin' better if'n ya be expectin' our coin. The rogue starts after Yazi as she shoots their would-be guide a glare, "Ya be thinkin' hard while I be fetchin' her. When we be gettin' back, ya better be havin' somewhere ta be takin' us that don't be makin' him," she motions at Garvid, "wantin' ta be rippin' doors off their hinges."

Li takes a step back from the Pillars of Dream. The thought of unknowingly stepping between them, falling unconscious, and gods know what happens to you while vulnerable makes her want to put as much distance between her and them as possible.

Li's eyes glaze over as Gav rattles off non-stop about the different areas of the city. So much more information about the Arcanist's Circle than the rogue will ever need to know. She holds onto the information about item creation but allows the rest to flow in one ear and out the other. She begins to mentally take stock of her gear and comes up with a list of additions that she'd like to discuss in order to bring them to frutition.

Thankfully the rogue is able to find those eager enough to help her fulfill her ideas and take her coin. She is a little hesitant about the four day wait period but agrees when no one else in the group objects. Although she does wonder what she'll busy herself with. Maybe she'll just eat and sleep for the next four days.

Li eagerly follows into their place of residence for the next few days being very aware of the rumblings of hunger in her stomach. All of that is forgotten as she takes in the singing girls swinging in the cages. She is both horrified by their imprisonment and transfixed by their song. But she understands what it is like to have to do whatever necessary to survive and so is able to see past the thin chains.

Li feels oddly comforted being back inside a city even if it wasn't Korvosa. She snags Lord Talfryn's coin purse back from a local girl who wasn't much older than she had been when she started as one of Lamm's Lambs. She shakes her head and gives the girl a warning look before replacing the wizard's coin purse without him being the wiser. Seeing herself in the girl, Li presses two gold coins into the girl's hand before she changed her mind. "Be keepin' yerself outta trouble fer awhile."

She listens to their would-be guide share information about his city as she takes in her surroundings. She knows that she'll probably be needing supplies for the next leg of their journey but as someone who has never spent time in the wilderness, she has no idea what those items may be.

Chaos wreaks havoc all around Li. She can no longer tell family from foe. No one is as they seemed moments before. When Kynes attacks her she is flooded with the same feelings that had overwhelmed her in her dream. It is then that she realizes that her dream hadn't been a nightmare at all but rather a warning. A warning against the danger of this very moment. Danger that can only be escaped by running. She needed to run and not stop for if she does, they will hurt her more than they already have.

Without a second thought, Li turns and runs back in the direction they just came from. If she can just get to the horses, she'd be safe.

No sooner had the words left Li's mouth than her speech dissolves into incoherent babble.

So I assume we need to succeed on all 3 will saves in order to not be affected? And do we roll a d100 for each failed will save or just one roll?

Li's nightmare weighs heavily on her mind. She could dismiss it if it had happened only once, like she had before, but this was the second time she had had the same dream. Was it a reflection of something real or was her subconscious worried about something she didn't want to face? Ugh, I be way too tir'd ta be thinkin' 'bout such things now.

Garvid's voice snaps her back to the present. She gives him a weak smile, "I be fine."

Garvid barely touches Li's pouch before she notices. She moves subtly to block his attempt while moving to take his. But her half-hearted effort is easily noticed. She jokes feebly, "Ya be hard'r ta fool th'n Pietro."

Seeing the sign indicating that the Halflight Path and entrance to Kaer Maga was getting close lightens Li's mood. The sooner they arrived, the sooner she'd gain feeling back into her butt. The journey ahead on the path would definitely be an interesting one if the stories were to be believed.

She listens intently to Abra's instructions and nods. As he hands over an amulet, she gives him the required fee along with an extra couple gold pieces. She slips the amulet over her head and readies her crossbow, making sure it's within easy reach.

Turning to Trinia she says, "Ya be stayin' close an' quiet-like, 'kay?"

Li grins at her friend, "You be enthusiastic, I be givin' ya that. An' tha thought o' spendin' time together be nice." She grows serious, "But it be dangerous where we be goin' an' what we be gettin' mix'd up in be even more dangerous. I be feelin' better if'n I be knowin' ya be safe here...but If'n ya be comin' ya gotta be promisin' ta hide an' take cover if'n there be trouble."

Li falls asleep easily enough on the cot assigned to her. Sometime during the night she begins to toss and turn to the point where she appears to be in some sort of distress. She whimpers indistinguishable words as her movements get more desperate. Her hair is slicked against her forehead with sweat.

Li runs, barefoot, across the white sand beach overlooking Sandpoint Harbor. The morning sun shines down upon the Varisian waters, casting that azure blue ablaze. Even this early in the day, local fishermen are returning from their morning routes, their nets overfull with silvern, shimmering fish. Seagulls caw and swoop low overhead as they search the sands and surf for a catch of their own.

Her chest heaves with each breath and she realizes she's tired, that she’d like nothing more than to stop and take in the beauty of the harbor, but just now the reason that she is running dawns on her.

Someone is chasing her.

Heavy boots thud across the sand. Hoarse and heavy breathing, haggard, rises and falls just behind her. And she knows that if she stops or slows, that if the person pursuing her were to catch up… She quickens her pace, running farther from the town and out onto the deserted beach, where the crash of waves would surely muffle any call for aid...

Just as she swears she can feel someone's hand grab her shoulder, she jolts awake and sits bolt upright. She feels out of breath and her heart is hammering in her chest. It takes her a moment to realize she's not in Sandpoint and she feels somewhat disoriented as it takes her more than a few moments to realize where she was. She draws her knees up to her chest and hugs them to herself. She then buries her head between her arms. "It be jus' a dream, jus' a nightmare," she mumurs quietly to herself as she rocks back and forth.

Li looks from Trinia to Yazi and back again, "If'n Yazi be thinkin' it be a good idea then I be game ta be goin'. Mebbe this Shoanti spirit be like Zellara an' be knowin' stuff ta be helpin' us."

Trinia wrote:
”Really?” Trinia asks hopefully. ”Real danger! Just like the old days, right? The creature sounds like a tough one, but I’m not afraid of anything, especially with you lot around.”

The rogue tries to look serious, not wanting to encourage Trinia, but there is a hint of a twinkle in her eyes. "When ain't there be danger? It ain't be somethin' ta be askin' or wishin' fer. An' bein' 'fraid keeps ya alive 'cause it be keepin' ya careful."

That said, if your god tells you to do something, most people would follow it through.", he pauses. Most. "We could do with sending them a message."

Li nods at Neolandus, "She be tha one who be findin' a piece o' yer uniform at Salvator's."

Li's frown matches Garvid's as Yazi recounts what they are to expect in the Cinderlands. "Anyone be good in tha wilderness? I be knowin' I ain't. What or who's ta keep us from gettin' horribly lost?"

I'm not sure how effective Li has been power-wise so I don't have much to add to the conversation. I'm good with whatever the group decides.

Li grins at Trinia and practically tackles her with a hug. She then grabs Vesper's arm and drags her into a group hug. Having let her hair go back to blonde once there was no longer a threat of being mistaken for Trinia, Li now looks like they're related. "I guess ya don't hafta be picturin' me blonde anymore. It be real good ta see ya ag'n."

She looks down at her wrist when Trinia mentions the bracelet. Li moves to hug it possessively against her chest. "O' course I be keepin' it! It ain't comin' off me wrist, not ev'r."

The rogue can't help but follow giggling as Trinia and Vesper drag her after them to their rooms. Li sits cross-legged on one of the beds and looks expectantly as Trinia tells her tale. She grins when Trinia says she got bored and she gasps and nods at the appropriate places throughout her story.

"I be knowin' from experience tha' ya be hard ta catch in a chase." Li looks thoughtful for a moment, "I be wonderin' if'n yer ghost be knowin' our ghost. Did ya get a name 'fore she be possessin' ya? I would be likin' ta be gettin' a look at tha place where ya be meetin' her. An' I be sure tha' Yazi be wantin' ta know more 'bout her too."

Li shrugs at Trinia's question, "I don't be knowin' exactly where we be goin'. We be needin' ta be comin' here. Partly ta be deliverin' Vencarlo an' Neolandus." Then the rogue's face reddens all the way to her ears, "An' partly ta make sure ya be safe. In our last fight, there be this bad creature tha' could be changin' her face an' be readin' yer mind. I think she be readin' mine and be findin' outta 'bout tha two o' ya an' where ya be. I think I be puttin' ya in danger."

Li listens wide-eyed as Neolandus shares what he knows about history and his suppositions of what had happened with the Queen. "It be lookin' more an' more like we be needin' tha help o' tha Shoanti. An' from what ya be sayin' we be needin' information we c'n only be findin' in tha Cinderlands.". The rogue isn't sure about about traipsing off into the wilderness. She knew and understood the ways of the city but seems a little lost with the vastness of the wild.

Li sits with the others around the fire, enjoying the warmth and the smell. But part of her can't help but be saddened as the flames remind her of the burning Korvosa that they left behind. She hoped that Cal, Grau, and the others were safe.

Li sticks quietly to the shadows as their group moves through Palin’s Cove. She felt both unnerved to be away from Korvosa as well as relieved. At The Naga’s Apothecary she moves up to offer her help to Vencarlo when his knocks go unanswered only to see him pick the door himself. If’n he be Blackjack th’n I shouldn’t be surpris’d he be pickin’ locks.

Inside, the rogue wanders around looking at all the bottles, vials, and such with curiosity. A couple times she can't resist tapping the glass as creatures look perfectly preserved inside some sort of liquid.

Vencarlo wrote:
”That’ll be good enough,” Vencarlo says with a smile, grasping Ichond’s hand. ”May I introduce to you Marigold, Sark, Theren, Vani, Theodric, Gyn, and Clerebold. En route to Melfesh.”

Even after spending quite a bit of time in Cal’s lavish home, Li is no stranger to sleeping on the floor with nothing but your arm as a pillow. At least they were dry and relatively secure. When Vencarlo introduces them, her brow furrows ever so slightly, Which one be me? Better if’n I ain’t be answerin’ ta no name

She snags a couple dried apricots and a piece of cheese and some bread, nibbling on them as she listens to the conversation. With the exertions of the day catching up to her and with her hunger sated, Li curls up in a ball in the corner and tries to fall asleep but fails miserably - or so she thinks.

Li isn’t sure when she fell asleep but hearing Zellara’s voice causes her to sit bolt upright, instantly awake. In her startled reaction, she bumps a table causing bottles to teeter but her quick reflexes quickly settle them back into position before any of them fall.

Knowing there is no point in refusing, Li scoots herself closer to Zellara and watches as the cards are revealed and explained.

Vellara wrote:
Can you muster the courage to release the beast within yourself?”

Li looks down at her hands and her ears turn red. If’n I ain’t be bein’ so timid, Meliya ain’t be escapin’. Her thoughts drift to Garvid’s rage, Kynes’ transformations, and Mouse’s fists before mumbling, ”Ain’t sure how me inner beast be measurin’ up.” She looks up and meets Zellara’s gaze, ”Ya sure I be havin’ a beast ta release? Mebbe tha cards be getting’ mix’d up?”

As Zellara finishes revealing the cards that speak to the future, a shiver goes down Li’s spine. Having the attention of the Queen was not good at all, not if Li wanted to stay in Korvosa without constantly looking over her shoulder. And who was this man in black? So much for going through life unnoticed.

Li sits at the back of the barge, watching burning Korvosa recede from view. Her cheeks are wet from a mixture of tears and spray from the water. Last time she had left the city, she knew she was going back. Now she wasn't sure and that makes her feel sad and lost. She hugs the instrument she had taken for Cal to herself and plucks one of the strings absent-mindedly. Would she ever be able to deliver this to him? Would he still be there if she did make it back?

The revelation that the dagger is missing makes the rogue's blood run cold.
No one had purposefully gotten rid of it so where did it go? It's not like it could grow legs and walk off on its own, could it? Feelings of relief quickly followed because she had never liked that dagger.

Vencarlo's question about Palin's Cove garners a negative head shake from Li. "This be only tha third time I be out o' Korvosa. I ain't be knowin' anyone there unless they be leavin' Korvosa an' be decidin' ta be movin' there."

Li starts to get some tools out of her bag. "I ain't leavin' if'n there be a chance that anyone be able ta be gettin' inta tha dungeon. What if'n it be a kid? I c'n be makin' it be hard ta enter. I be quick an' then we c'n be leavin."

Does Li need to make a Disable Device check to jam the entrance?

Li's k.local bonus exceeds the DC so I'm just assuming she knows about the Cerulean Society, especially after being part of Lamm's Lambs

Li remembers seeing people in blue uniforms coming to see Lamm when she was younger. You couldn't be a member of any gang in Korvosa and not know who the Cerulean Society was and what they did. "Involvement 'tween tha Cerulean Soceity an' Glorio ain't be good. It be explainin' some stuff tho'."

The rogue's face reddens with shame as Garvid warns Vencarlo about revealing Vesper and Fran's identities. "I don't be rememberin' thinkin' o' tha farm when I be thinkin' o' tha girls but it be safe ta move like Garvid be sayin'."

Eager to focus on something else other than her failure to catch Meliya after putting her friends in danger, Li asks, "So what be next? We need ta be gettin' Vencarlo an' Neolandus outta Korvosa but Ol' Korvosa still be under quarantine."
