Yikes, now to make it more convoluted... If true that the party is still calculated as if it were an attack of opportunity, even though it's not one, does that than mean I still have other attacks of opportunity?

Hey all, I think I'm going to have to drop out of the game. Works getting busier and I don't think I can put in the daily commitment I used to.

I've had fun with you all and I wish I could of spent more time with Universe Mongoose :D

In order to get flanking bonus don't the allies have to be able to draw a line through the enemy? Unless there's something special going on, just being adjacent (in this case stacked) would not?

To Sum up, this puts us at a conjoined 23 Knowledge History (if anyone else assists a 25!), an assisted 40 Knowledge religion, the resources of a Paladin, a Warpriest who's god specialiezes in putting down the undead, an Oracle, and on the footsteps of the local Necromancer to put this bonehead down for good

Dunno who is going to Dalkk, but it sounds like minimum is Grelthe and I?

Miss Tempest will take the lead. She will look up at the party members with her, and will hold up both hands to whoever is holding the bulk of Saracek's bodies "Please, wait here a moment with that thing until we are sure Mister Dark is ok with this."

The rat thing will scamper inside. She will follow the usual pleasantries and share that they she finally got a foot into her place of birth, but clearly it was a short one. Nikki will not waste time. As soon as the conversation turns towards what brought them here Nikki will speak openly, "We have the body of the undead former paladin named Saracek, this is the same one that you harmed the catfolk Simon that you cured a short while back. I didn't want to bring him into your home without permission. I don't know if it's approriate to call him dead since he is already undead, but they beat on him until his body collapsed."

Nikki will give a little shrug at trying to define the redead undead. Nikki will gesture towards Grelthe and Catayra regardless of what side of the door they're on. "The group you introduced me to was assisted by another. I don't know if you met them, but they seem to be the holy type. They were concerned about leaving Saracek's body around in his lair. I suggested that you may know what to do with it more than any other in town. Any thoughts?"

Under Sanctify Corpse is states "Sanctify corpse can be made permanent with a permanency spell by a caster of 9th level or higher for the cost of 500 gp.” I don't have permanency... But perhaps the Necromancer Ulman Dark can? He may have other solutions as well. Catarya could cast the sanctify corpse and he could do the permanent part?

The group fund has been useful more than once. Until we decide if were staying together I think it easiest on the math to go without and divide 8 ways. If this team up is longer term though I would suggest a party fund, but its not a hard demand or anything

Back in the sunlight and with the bones of an undead anti paladin the Tempest witch ponders if they could construct a ritual of their own, perhaps a burning ship said with prayers sent out to sea? She will consult with Vuzi for guidance in this matter.

Would prefer to take 10 or 20 in this, but if not

In a flash of brilliance she will rush off to the other room. When she returns carrying a bundle of Sareceks foot bones as though they were firewood for someone much larger. "Did you want these?"

So the hard numbers for the book. Not saying that this is how it'll happen nor am I insisting.

+2 Tomb of Understanding 55,000 gold. Assuming RAW sell price (not because it is most accurate but because we must start somewhere) is half that at 27,500 gold.

I believe there are 8 PCs subject to a share. 27,500 split 8 ways is 3437.5 each, so that is the potential 'loss' in treasure for each person. If any individual party member could buy out the other shares, it would be 24,062. I don't know if anyone has that but Cain between the swords I'd imagine is close, and the rest of us wouldn't walk away SOL.

Again, not insistance, just throwing numbers up for perspective.

Ok now the sales pitch:
As a reminder Cain, once our swords liquidate, you have 24,000 coming to you also assuming book costs. This should put you at roughly 29000 total if I remember right. I'm sure you know that this WIS bonus stacks woth your headband as well. You'd get a 55000 item at less than half price that directly feeds you, and everyone else would walk away with about 3,500 to fund their own interests.

Mind you I also would be opposed to giving the book to Universe Mongoose WIS user either though I don't know who it is. Nikki would get stung a bit as she doesn't get a cut of the swords, but I think we've come up healthier on the treasure side, so it may serve as a good signing bonus.

Once again the rat thing will approach Grelthe, having taken her to be the leader of this new band. After stepping forward boldly she will suddenly hesitate, wondering if perhaps she ought to not say. Her indecision would be apparent, but yes.

"Lady Grelthe, I am new to this venture and I certainly do not wish to part company so soon after you have proven how incredibly mighty your lot is, but you were trying to find your way back to town and have done more than your part in aiding us. Do you and yours need to find your way back to town right this moment or can you help us continue forward further still?"

Nikki has little sympathy or regard for Archibald. After a precursory detect magic she will sit against a wall crosslegged while the party discusses the aftermath. She ponders how the battle went and appears deep in reflection. When asked for her status...

"My most impactful talents have been used, but I so long as it isn't another battle like this I am not out of tricks yet."

Just a thought... Cain has a huge chunk of treasure coming to him between this Saracek sword and the other sword we have yet to sell.

Cain how would you feel about 'buying' the tome from the party. You would get a perm +2 WIS for (half price) and that treasure horde could could serve to provide some cash to our new friends?

The little witch will huff in frustration, mostly at herself. She should of known that he was mindless. Very well... conventional warfare. Her hand will extend and her hand will rotate clockwise as she begins a magical incantation. A spark of energy will form in her other hand, and once stable her hands will join and point to the enraged priest. Being sure to avoid Archibolds legs as he steps around her she will unleash a Scorching Ray

Nikki stays near the door, but leans on Simon's expertise in this fight! She pulls her hands together in front of her, joining her fingertips. In the middle of her hands a spark appears. He hands spread and the Flaming Sphere - DC 19 Ref to Negate Dmg - Lasts 6 rounds grows with her wingspan until it is bigger then she is! In better perspective, it's not saying much, but a 5ft sphere of fire is nothing to laugh at.

I don't want to mess up the dice roll or look like I'm cheesing, but I made this barely. I used Moment of Greatness for Bless, but on review Grelthe's Book of Prayer is the higher Morale Bonus. With Moment of Greatness applied, this is a total +4 Morale Bonus, putting my result at 19, not 17.

I believe last time we were here and got hit with this it was ruled that you have to get the heck out of the area, and out of range in that regard. You don't have to go running down the hall for forever. As memory serves our panicked party members shuddered their rounds off roughly where our npcs are now, or back by the not-a-sheep

Nikki's lips will curl in a a flash of lack of self control "By my count, you are the only one to have fallen in battle, doesn't sound like there is much to fear anyway *feline*." Nikki will look as though she is startled by herself "Oh my, I apoligize Mr. Simon. I am sure you will live longer this time, perhaps I can assist in that."

Nikki will cast Mage Armor and Protection from Evil on herself. She has a spare Protection from Evil left to share with anyone who would like it.

She will speak to the entire group as this is their first planned strategem together. "Unless anyone has a compelling arguement to the contrary, I think I should like to make the first move."

The moment before 'go' and just before the others cast the doors open, Nikki will speak almost in tongues. It looks like prayer, but sounds nothing like it.

Closest I can get before rounds start, casting Summon Monster III

A glowing speck of light appears before the door, growing alowly in size as a Lantern Archon forms in front of the party. "Rather this one will, to light our path"

Her voice will turn into something of great beauty, almost as though it should be backed by harp music

I'm assuming that at some point, someone from the old party will point out that the last time Sarecek was fought he opened with a fear that literally sent 30% of the party fleeing from the room. Any protection vs evil or fear effects would be beneficial

The witch Tempest will be busy in thought when the cookies are offered. So far no one would of been witness to the rat-imp eat a crumb, but she is far too polite to decline it. After she picks it up it shrinks slightly to scale with her. "Thank you ever so much Miss Kayla."

She will break the cookie into pieces and eat them in a way that is dreadfully apparent that she doesn't entirely recall how one is supposed to chew food. She will read her fortune.

As the party gets ready for the assault, she will start by making a series of complex hand gestures.

Nikki will also quietly walk over to Simon and ask in a hushed voice "Are you sure about this?" Nikki will take hold of Simon's tail. Her eyes will roll back into her head as she chants. When they come back into focus the gray cat will now be half his previous size.

That's a lot of sword for a 3 way split lol. Honestly my fear is that the sword will turn Archibald into Saracek once we defeat him. Both I and Nikki would very much appreciate it out of his hands.

Cain, either on this side of chat or on table. Would probably be a good idea to describe his lair? Specifically the part where he has 2 rooms separated by a single door and he liked to hide in the corner of the far room, benefiting from substantial cover

Nikki stops her investigation of stone work and architecture when the bickering breaks out. She stands likely unnoticed, but keeps reaching her hand up with small keeps and 'pardon mes'. Failing to break the conversation she will walk over to Grelthe who she has taken to be the face of this other faction. If she must the rat thing will tug on her armor for attention. "Lady Grelthe, I feel it neccesary to point out that I am brand new to this group and had no part in my decision making. That said we now have someone who clearly has no idea what they're doing waving around a sword of apparent great evil power. I do not think the sword is safe in any individuals hands and suggest we put an immeadiate end to this course of action. Miss Vuzi does have a point about our legal standing I believe, as Mister Cain does about our tactical standing." The witch Tempest lowers her hands. Holding them together at her waist, rather satisfied in her analysis and almost awaiting orders.

Nikki keeps on the tail of Cain. "Mister Cain? It sounds like you were the closest to this Saracek. What was he capable of? What tactics did he use, and how was his lair shaped? Perhaps it may be best if we make camp before such an assault takes place? I differ of course to your judgement."

Nikki is wide eyed as she moves with the group. She looks as though she's seeing ghosts at every turn. Whenever the group stops for a moment she is busy investigating the structure and crevice of every bit of stone time allows for.

Miss Tempest is absolutely delighted to shake Lady Grelthe's finger, as of yet she is the first person to offer her such basic courtesy in some time. "To be fair Lady Grelthe, I have yet to enter the dungeon of graves in quite some time. I cannot promise you good manners will not be sacrificed at some point.

Nikki quietly looks back and forth over their new numbers and is quite a bit happier at the number of bodies between her and any potential foe.

This satisfaction freezes in panic when she hears they are traveling with one of the Gray Lady, but Nikki calms as the conversation continues. She walks towards can, standing beside the warrior. "I must concur. We should decide a direction before any other stone work starts to get the same ideas that the gargoyles did."

And at some point... When subtle... She will cast Detect Magic and watch these newcomers for illusion or traps.

Slowly from behind the door a technically rat thing will peak its head out. Cautiously it'll take a few steps closer and closer to the group, perhaps in time to be hit by said wave of healing energy. Before you stands at calf-height, less then a foot and a half, a hunched over creature that could be mistaken for a fiendish imp. Her silhouette reads as rat folk of the smallest order. In place of fur she has thick earth toned scales, and a series of horns that serve as a crown upon her head. Small wings sprout from her back and even her rat tail ends in a classic fiendish triangle. It is exceptionally long given her size and flicks wildly.

Her small delicate fingers press together as she stretches her neck up to speak with the giants around her. Nikki's tone is extremely polite and steady, well spoken, but to the point. As the latest addition herself she is hesitant to speak too much for the group "Oh yes, Greetings and salutations. Lady Grelthe, thank you and your companions for coming to our aid. Indeed I am Nicodemus Tempest, Miss Tempest if you do not mind, or Nikki if you insist."

The impish creature looks around, bewildered by this development. In particular she looks to Vuzi and Cain looking for some kind of hint for instruction. Despite her looks, she does not ping explicitly as evil.

I could, but AFAIK they aren't in combat? Although they might be soon now. I didn't think we were going to stand and fight or I'd of hasted at the top of combat, I figured itd be a 2 round dash inside. Unfortunately these gargoyles took lessons in courtship from a frat house and are getting particularly handsy.

Soo... That puts 3 in armor then? Tempest excluded herself but the 6 with Haste should be the tails of 2 kitties, Cain, Vuzi, anr whichever 2 appear most martial combaty. Likely whichever 2 rushed into combat. Not sure which of that party that fits best

Casting Haste. If the new comers indicate themselves as friendlies then the will be designated as allies and receive the same benefit. Nikki doesn't have the luxury of time to interview, so friendly actions will be enough to assume these people are at least the enemy of their enemy.

Haste can target 6 right now, Cain, Vuzi, Simon, Emily, and supposing friendly, the 2 new people wearing armor
