In retrospect, it might have been more a "hire a potential candidate for President" while you a) get him up to speed on the company and b) evaluate him to make sure you want to give him the job.

That's possible. I admit to pessimism here.

Good Afternoon,

I just wanted to follow up on this. Hopefully, this type of feedback can be helpful?

When addressing someone's stated concerns about the environment (in this case, the forums), it is useful to acknowledge the validity of the persons concerns and address the topic that's been brought up (in this case, the environment of the forums).

Stating that you are apologetic that they *feel* a certain way isn't a helpful thing. It sidesteps addressing the topic that is actually under question and instead communicates that the issue was the person's feelings.

Thank You,
Brendan aka NightTrace

Then make a cost for the Rare ones, but make it accessible still.

One of the biggest things 2E has going for it compared to competitors is the Ancestries.

It feels like a self own at this point.

Honestly with 2E math removing Ancestry as an avenue for breaking things (so far) why is the idea of forced scarcity still in play?

In character the Society is a world spanning organization with lodges everywhere.

Out of character we buy the books to play the things.

Heck, use the Rarity tags. Uncommon? Just make it available, why not?

Rare? Make it 60-80 if a cost is needed.

Unique? Its not available.

Do that, bring back vanities. :P

I agree that this is great since it's archaic to force those to share. I just hope this doesn't come at the cost of fewer cons/travel or employees who choose to share rooms are the ones who go to cons.

The discriminatory policy wasn't addressed, but one of the items behind it has been changed. It was described as a "business decision" originally.

100% ending shared rooms means we'll see less company-sponsored travel to conventions and it will also likely means we'll see a less varied presence too as it consolidates around a handful of people.

It is entirely possible that at this point I am just a jaded f**k. I was really hoping to see some ownership and accountability as we had seen from other people who had spoken up last week.

Is this better than the original statement? Yes.

Do I feel this addressed the issues? Not especially? It was crafted in such a way as to basically comment on the concerns without actually taking any ownership or even verifying they were true or not.

When trust is damaged, we're supposed to trust that lessons will be learned when the actions themselves aren't even owned up to?

Also, and this 100% is something I'm jaded on, corporate surveys are designed to either cherry-pick positives or to find low-cost/low-energy negatives to "fix" and then the Exec team takes a bow.

This is a lot of words to basically say mostly nothing again. Disappointing.

Glad to hear that you've reversed course on mandating people return to the office. Sad that it was only after the loss of people so important to the work you've been doing.

Glad to hear that the cleaning was an issue but that it eventually got addressed.

Let's flip this, and you set some baselines with me. I've been pretty consistent at answering your questions ;)

Of everyone who has been named within the issues that have come up in the last week, only one person has not responded, that person is Tonya.

Based on the timeline we know that the issues that developed between employees and Management in the CS department coincided with the new role of Director of Community being created. These issues have so far culminated with the firing of Sara, and then Diego quitting specifically as an act of protest against the manner in which Management behaved during the aforementioned conflicts that arose and no longer having trust in them. Tonya would have been the Management figure based on the hierarchy and timelines.

Is it your suggestion that if Tonya's new role means she carried out actions she personally may disagree with that this absolves any concerns regarding propriety or concerns over the end result?

Edit: To set a baseline with you as well though, I've had clarification with OPF. Looks like it was a legal entity only and I was incorrect at Tonya being an actual employee of OPF vs Paizo. Feel free to drop the confusion aspects there as it relates to her!

I'm still here because I like participating and reading the Pathfinder 1e AP threads. I also might try to get into a pbp. And yes, I voted with my wallet on 2e.

Hey I understand- but my question wasn't addressed in general, just to those that have said, "I'm done with Paizo" ya know? If I went around decrying a company saying I'll never buy their products, etc., I wouldn't want to spend hours on that company's forums I guess, but apparently that's just me lol

I can't speak for anyone but me, but my voting with my wallet was done by canceling my subscriptions. It is my sincere hope that it isn't a permanent change but instead is temporary as Paizo makes a positive change.

That said, it's one of those things that will take time and I fully believe voicing your hopes is a good way to apply positive pressure too.

Realistically they can "out last me" I suppose, I'll get tired of hoping and f**k off I guess.

And why should Tonya say anything? Ms. Price made allegations against her to which I wouldn’t respond either. I still have fond recollections of Tonya telling Ms. Price to “Stay the f&#@ out of my VO forum.” Good times, that. As CS falls under her purview now, it would be her responsibility to inform employees of their termination. Even if she disagrees with that decision! So again, why should she say anything?

They are the only one who was directly named in anything that hasn't said anything. Jeff spoke up and did a poor job (IMO) but Tonya hasn't said a word on this and has said barely anything at all in general.

AFAIK Tonya wasn't a Paizo employee prior to their installment into the newly created position that coincided with the conflict between employees and management that led to two team members who were held in high regard by this community being dismissed and/or leaving. Tonya had left Paizo and become the (I believe) only employee of the Organized Play Foundation. Is the OPF still a thing? Are there any employees in the OPF now?

Even outside of these most recent issues (and they are *big* issues) we have allegations that Tonya violated a safe space by sharing materials shared in confidence directly with management. This type of violation is concerning, and doubly so when the violation is being carried out by someone who is now expected to be "Director of Community".

Sara Marie was the customer service manager. Around the beginning of the month they promoted someone to Director of Community and had Sara Marie report directly to them from what I understand.

To add to that, apparently, at the same time this new position was created and the hierarchy was changed was also when the employee/manager relationship began deteriorating.

...trust has been lost. The important thing is for our community–staff, freelancers, players, and content creators–to have confidence that Paizo’s culture and employee-management relationships are sound going forward.

So, in order to regain customer trust, Paizo will have to be proactive and show that it is accountable over the long haul.

On this, how do we move toward rebuilding trust if the focus is to be the future and the pivotal incidents aren't discussed or addressed in a manner in which is visible?

Barring incidents that haven't been corroborated or have been denied, we still have accusations of safe spaces being abused (woman's network/screenshots), trans staff being effectively excluded from events and having unique contractual limitations placed, full time jobs that don't pay living wages, and an apparent management position being created exactly in alignment with when the currently discussed employee-management relationships went sour.

Out of how many active subscriptions exactly? Thousands? More?

40 subscriptions will no doubt raise an eyebrow but it's not going to sink Paizo. I mean hell I'm buying like $300 worth of Starfinder rulebooks/APs, both physical and PDFs in about a week.

Depending on releases I was purchasing $100-$300 dollars a month. I decided to cancel, and might resub in the future if I feel the issues get meaningfully addressed.

Until then? Taking that $ and putting it toward employees Twitch channels, patreons, kofis, etc.

True! For me it seems odd given the public statement that issues between CS and Management started coincide with the timeline in which this new position was created and placed over CS. It gives a feeling that the position was created with the intent of what we're seeing.

Jeff, can you speak to the truth or falsehood of any of the following, which have been corroborated by multiple former employees:

1) Warehouse and CS staff, at least, making well below a living wage for Seattle, at approx. $30k/year?

2) Allegations that despite a handful of BIPoC doing the work to create the diversity blog, Tonya and Aaron claimed credit for it when it was well-received?

3) Paizo barring employees from attending conventions in a personal capacity if they were not there representing Paizo, thus preventing people from making important industry connections on their own dime?

I'm appalled by this "statement". I have, for YEARS, trusted Paizo to be the inclusive, diverse game company that you put yourselves forth as being. I am dismayed to know that that is in spite of management, not led by it.

You need to resign. Tonya needs to resign. Then, Paizo can start regaining our trust.

I can answer the first one! When I worked briefly at Paizo in CS, I made $15 an hour. That was higher than the starting amount I believe based on experience. In any case, I had a wonderful time working under Sara's guidance and with my fellow CS folks. I would not consider working under anyone else's leadership of the CS department, that much I am certain of.

Also obligatory, discuss your wages amongst your coworkers, an injury to one is an injury to all. <3

What about the "Staff Change" issue?

I am aware that Paizo management cannot speak to it directly (at least right away), but it is difficult for most of us to accept that the firing of a certain long time employee was justified, as everything we customers have seen and heard suggests that she has performed in an exemplary manner.

I might accept something like "We didn't see eye to eye on certain issues, so we regretfully had to part company", but at this point I think many of us are beginning to give credence to various rumors that did not originally seem well justified.

I would like to know how a new position was created, staffed by a (former?) employee who as far as was communicated was working for another organization entirely (OPF) and placed over the CS staff to begin with. Especially when that employee had not been in the CS chain previously?

Are the accusations of leaking the contents of a "womens support group" accurate? If so, that is extremely concerning on its own without factoring in apparent newly gained management power over others.
