I thought Nibb was already on the map. I fixed that. Nibb kneels beside Zordlon. "I'm not going to lie. This is going to sting." She yanks the javelin from his gut and quickly covers the hemorrhaging wound with a hand that begins to glow white. Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Nibb will give preference to users of magic. I'll continue lending any bonus to Zordlon unless he doesn't attack, in which case, I'll lend it to Alcalde. Nibb continues magically plucking burning wood debris from the fire and throwing them at the goblins. Mage Hand for combat assist: 1d20 ⇒ 6 As Nibb grabs at the air before her, a chunk of wood in the distant pyre moves but is not freed. Nibb growls. Skorl continues to guard the door below. That is, assuming the smoke is not starting to overwhelm.

"Guard the door, Skori!", Nibb commands. Nibb doesn't wait for Skorl to take position before she run out to the battlements. She takes cover and reaches out in the direction of the fire, grasping at the air and flinging her hand in the direction of the goblins. She mutters Gnomish incantations. [ooc] I'd like to use mage hand to grab and fling burning chunks of wood at the goblins. I'll let you decide how that plays into things. Maybe just acts as an assist for someone's attack[ooc]

Startled by Nibb waking him, Skorl's ears prick upwards and he scrambles to his feet, sniffing at the air. Nibb retrieves her shortspear and quickly points the handle at Alcalde. "Use this. It should hold."

the stairs look cramped so it's probably best to hang back for now Nibb moves to the base of the stairs, holding Skorl by the neck lightly as he whimpers at the scuffling heard from the top of the stairs. "Better if we guard these stairs for now ol' boy."

Nibb descends the stairs into the room. Skorl walks softly by her side, his head easily swinging over hers as it scans side to side. The wolf's nostrils flare as they suck in the dank air, cautiously sifting the scents. "Shhh...Your voices carry further than you might expect. I wasn't even halfway down the stairs before I knew we had another in need of aid." Nibb looks at Skorl who is looking over the strangers. He turns to Nibb and offers what could easily mistaken as a nod. Nibb smiles and rubs the scruff of Skorl's neck before turning to face the strangers. "Skori thinks you are an acceptable lot. Me? Well, I'm a bit more discerning but I trust his judgement." Nibb grins. "Well then, if retribution is what you seek, you have found good company. You and we have a common foe, our ungracious hosts. Let's have a look at you." Nibb approaches the Dwarf and looks over his wounds, poking an prodding without invitation and unperturbed by his winces. "Hmmm...You have taken quite a beating, even for one as stout as yourself. You best be worth our time, I already feel exhausted after patching up us three." Nibb flicks a pointing finger at Alcade and Zordlon. Nibb hovers her hands over the Dwarf's wounds as her palms emanate a soft, warm light. The scent of pine fills the room. Nibb slides off Skorl to her feet. "That cut looks deep, Elf, my head is ringing, and our Human friend has probably seen better days. Let me see what I can do to help us press on. I would hate to have come all this way to go home so soon. You too stand at the ready in case another drunken fool finds some courage. You go watch those stairs too, Skori." Skorl moves to the side of the stairs and sniffs at the air. He stands ready to attack whoever dares enter. Finally, Nibb tends to Alcalde's wounds.

Good on me for managing to reply but not realizing Nibb was up. Skorl redoubles his efforts to tear into the bandit with his teeth as Nibb cackles and holds tight to the wolf's fur. Skorl's bite w/flank: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

I forgot how the trip ability worked even though I have it on Skorl's character sheet. While the past dice still dictate misses, I'll keep this in mind going forward. Let's try this again! Nibb will maintain total defense, bringing her AC to 19. Nibb holds onto the back of Skorl as he bites at the bandit's leg. DC 10 ride check for Skorl's attack: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Edit: This looks worse than it is. I didn't need to make the ride check since Nibb is not attacking. It looks like Skorl at least landed a bite this time. Here's to hoping the trip makes it.

Nibb sways from the blow, dazed for a moment before growling at the drunken lout, "Take him down, Skori!" Skorl swipes again at the bandit's legs. DC 10 ride check for Skirl's attack: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Flanking offers a benefit to trip, right? If not, then -2 the trip roll Nibb grabs hold of Skorl's neck, pressing her body low against his in hopes to avoid another blow from the bandit. Nibb is just going on the defensive. It's probably too risky to try to dismount now. edit: damn. Well at least Nibb has good command over Skorl. For now they offer the flank bonus.

Re: Javelin before move - Correct. The move is after the throw. The order was: throw, move, trip attempt. I also came across that thread and was using it as a guide. I looked through the PHB just the verify and it looked like everything in that thread was correct. I didn't expect the javelin to hit with the cover but felt it in the flavor of things. I was more hopeful for the trip. Hopefully the mounted combat feat will help keep her safe the coming round. I figure it's worth the risk to counter the crossbow and enable the flank. Besides, "reckless" fits this pair. As for training, I'll just stick with combat training. I don't see Skorl being the flighty type so having saves just to stay in combat seems weird. The combat training could be further justified by the fact that they live out in the woods where the denizens are less than friendly.

Hopefully I have this right. I'm assuming my mount is considered combat trained (otherwise I'll be making a DC20 check each turn to make sure Skorl doesn't freak out). For attacking while mounted, I need to make a ride 5 check (free action). Beyond that, I move at my mount's speed and can attack without further penalty. If I want my mount to also attack during the round, I need to make a ride 10 check.
Well then, time to get a little reckless. "Let's pin him in, hooded man!" Nibb flings her javelin at the man behind the table and prods Skorl's sides. "Get him, Skori!" Skorl snarls and moves in next to the man. DC 5 ride check for mounted Javelin throw: 1d20 ⇒ 20
I'm moving them to the south square of the man behind the table, aiming to setup a flank opportunity for Alcalde. if successful in the ride check...

Surprised, Nibb looks up from her prone position. "Grrr." Glancing back at the ground, she see human footprints just under her chin as Zordlon speaks of his findings. "Tracks. I see them too. Skorl, um, Skorl led me right too them. Didn't you Skori?" Standing up and dusting off some of the dirt from herself, Nibb kicks Skorl's hindquarters lightly and speaks quietly. "Skorl! This is not the time for playing. Get back up." Nibb tugs at Skorl's saddle as he rights himself and allows Nibb to remount. "Silly wolf", Nibb whispers. Nibb looks around to see if any have noticed Skorl's untimely behavior. "Gooood Skori. You found those bad men's tracks, didn't you?", Nibb speaks up to be heard by her companions. She nudges Skorl with her knees to have him follow the others into the keep's courtyard.

Minor starting equipment change for Nibb. Instead of the longspear, Nibb has a shortspear and a buckler. I like that loadout better. Character sheet updated with stats/gold change. Stat block above updated for buckler. Nibb sighs. "I suppose after all the time we took to get here, it won't hurt to spend a little more time to look around." Nibb sits on Skorl and lets him sniff around the area without getting too far off from her other companions. "Keep your wits about you, though. You never know if that welcome party is already here and simply waiting for the right moment to greet us." Nibb pulls a javelin previously tethered to Skorl's saddle with two others and a shortspear. Her mace hangs from her side.

Let's hope Nibb knows what she has. If not, maybe we can assume she knows them by name but might not be knowledge about them otherwise. Appleleaf Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 (Whew, that was close)
Nibb looks at Zordlon and laughs. "These townies have so many other concerns, they won't remember their brush with us today. A bunch of boring folk, except Laurel, of course. I've had better conversations with the dirt at my doorstep. A little excitement might do them some good. Besides, Skori needed to stretch his legs." Nibb looks over to Skorl. "Didn't you, boy?" Skorl drops his jaw and his tongue hangs out with an excited pant. Nibb pulls the refilled sack from the floor and hands it over to Laurel with greater caution, not releasing the bag until Laurel has a good handle on it. In a quick motion, Nibb pulls the small pouch from her belt and sticks it into Laurels hand with a wink. Nibb looks to the masked man stepping through the entrance behind Zordlon. "It looks like business is picking up for you, Laurel." Nibb continues her quick chatter, randomly glancing to each member of the room as if speaking to anyone willing to listen. "Either that or these two were carried in by Skori's wind. I'm certain he's twice a quick and nimble than he was a dozen moons ago. You be sure to let me know if more get that cough. I can be sure to bring more appleleaf on my next visit. Of course, that may be delayed with the ruffians making trouble out there. Skori and I have seen an increase in raids on the roads near the woods and I'm fed up with it. It's only a matter of time before they come snooping around my hut and trampling through my garden. I came here to see if there's something I can help do about it." Nibb stops and scratches her head for moment then looks to Laurel. "Though, I supooose I should let you take care of your other customers first. They don't look to be from around here. They still have look to have some life in them. Since Skori hasn't gnawed off their legs yet, I'm sure they are not with the bandits." Nibb looks to the two men, raises an eyebrow, and exposes a wild grin. "Or are you?"

Skorl comes to a stop outside of Roots and Remedies. Nibb hops off the wolf and unties a large pouch, overflowing with roots, from the wolf's saddle. Nibb and Skorl enter the shop. On entrance, Nibb calls out to her old friend, "Laaaaurel! I've got some goodies for youuuu!" Nibb and Laurel: Years back, Nibb met Laurel not far off from the hut Nibb calls home. After spending some time in a tree while spying on Laurel as Laurel sifted through the underbrush, Nibb tossed an acorn at the woman and giggled as it bounced off Laurel's head. "Whatcha doin'?" Nibb hopped down from the tree. "Oh! I didn't see you there", Laurel responded hesitantly as she slowly stepped back. A large sniff from behind her startled Laurel causing her to shriek. She spun to see Skorl just beside her. Laurel's wide eyes darted around the woods in search of quick escape. "Aw, don't let ol' Skori scare ya. He's a big ol' softy. Aren't you Skori?", said Nibb. Skorl lowered his head to the ground as his body followed and looked upwards at Laurel with calm yellow eyes. Regaining her composure, Laurel turned back to Nibb. "I am only looking for some Rat's Tail. I do not mean any harm. I do hope you and your", she paused to look at Skorl, "friend do not mind." "Ah, well you won't be finding any here, the fennecs ate them all. Come, come, I'll show you a spot they haven't found yet." Nibb and Laurel formed a friendship over the years, sharing their foraging finds and various recipes for ointments and tinctures, many of which came to be staples in Laurel's herbal shop, Roots and Remedies.

Dust kicks up on North road of Falcon's Hallow in the wake of a charging white wolf, marbled with grays, tans and black. Feathers woven into the wolf's fur flail in the wind, barely concealing the narrowed yellow eyes of its Gnome rider. Upon the wolf's back, Nibb's long vine-like hair extends wildly behind her, with various feathers and trinkets woven in, rustling in the wind like leaves. A wide grin extends across her face as she clutches closely to the wolf's neck. The wolf and rider move in unison, as if a singular creature. The sound of the wolf's pads impacting the hardened dirt echo behind him as is darts the villagers in his path, only narrowly avoiding collision. Nibb laughs gleefully at each of the villagers who leap away for fear of being trampled. "Ha! Almost got that one, Skori!", she cackles. Knowledge(History): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

I'm looking to play in my first Starfinders game, and am delighted by the variety of races available. My inclination is to play a Raxilite Biohacker. I'm very familiar with Pathfinder but just starting to learn about Starfinder. Raxilites are Tiny, but their LFAN counts as a single Medium sized arm (in addition to my two Tiny arms). I see that Tiny doesn't change To Hit, Damage Dice, AC, Stealth. What it does do is:
Quote: Weapons are built to be easily held and used by both Small and Medium creatures. Weapons can be built for use by smaller creatures but generally cost twice as much (since they require special miniaturization technology). In practice, I assume that means over time I'll choose between: 1) Using a (Medium-sized) Small Arm, or
It's fine if my character idea isn't totally optimized...but I'm a bit nervous that I don't know just how big a disadvantage this will be over time. (How do Small Arms compare over time with sniper and longarms? How big a hit to Wealth By Level to pay 2x for any longarm or sniper rifle? Are there significant advantages I'm missing to being Tiny in Starfinder, that might make up for the penalties?) Thanks!
I have a question about the Hunter's Forester archetype. The archetype replaces the Hunter's companion with Favored Terrain. On the one hand, the wording's fairly clear: it says "She gains her first favored terrain at 5th level." but I wonder if that's a typo, given a few oddities: 1) It's listed above the second level ability (where 1st level abilities would tend to be listed)
Those together make me wonder if it got messed up along the way, and was supposed to read more like: Favored Terrain wrote:

I've been reading and loving Margerie Liu's Monstress and it's got me thinking about a character with a hungry monster inside her. Some options I've considered:
What I'm looking for: is there anything (class feature? drawback? something else?) that simulates a need or desire to kill? I like the idea of a tension between a monster inside that just wants to eat vs character who's morally opposed to that monstrous urge. It's possible to just RP it without any mechanics...but are there other mechanics you think might fit it? At this point, I'm playing with an idea rather than making a character for a specific game (so don't have any specific build/level/Paizo-only requirement). Given all that, what options would you consider? (Let me know if this needs clarification as well.) Thanks!
Hey there. I'm building a 2nd level Warder with a 15pt buy. I see the recc in Elric's guide to put CON and INT first, followed by STR. I am willing to dump CHA below 10 but really reluctant to do so with WIS or DEX. We'll do max HP at 1st, 1/2+1 after that, so at 2nd he'd have 12+7+CON+fcb. With a +2 from CON he'd have 31 HP (or 33, with fcb). I'm leaning toward either
OR
I see your recommend to max CON in order to max tankiness...and I haven't played the class or seen it played so I'm sure there's a bunch I'm missing...but would you really bump CON higher for this build? More broadly, what overall 15pt buy might you consider? It's so hard for me to imagine a martial character with a 14 STR, which is I think the max I can get if I bump up CON...but maybe I'm thinking too much about Fighters and not understanding how different a Warder (or PoW in general) plays? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Quote: Chaldira Zuzaristan is a close friend to Desna and revered as a god in halfling society. She is known to charge into battles without much planning and as a result often needs Desna's assistance. Halflings see this as a sign of their innate racial luck and as their ability to survive in even the most dire of circumstances. I find her a fun deity...and she's NG so she certainly could have Paladins...which leads me to wonder: What do you think Chaldira Zuzaristan's Paladin Code would be? (Actual sources are great if they exist...but I doubt that they do, so idle conjecture works here too.) Thanks!
There's a PbP recruitment starting soon for adapting Marvel Heroes to a Golarion setting. The whole thread is here but the short summary of the build rules are level 5, 25 point buy, with gestalt and the ability to convert starting gold to race points from the race builder (at a conversion cost of ~1000 GP per RP)...and of course the ability to play with Path of War and Psionic classes in addition to the Paizo ones. I have two heroes I'm thinking of: - Black Cat, who I think works nicely as a Harbinger (focused on Cursed Razor for "unluck" effects) with the other half perhaps a Rogue, Ninja, or even Swashbuckler. - Ms Marvel (the new Kamala Harris version)...who I'm more stuck on, but I suspect there are some great Disciplines/Maneuvers to go for. Some of what I'd look for:
Bonus points for ways to actual grow or shrink or increase movement. (The investigator formulae list covers some of those morphing abilities well with Long Arm, Enlarge, Reduce, Expeditious Retreat...but a spontaneous flavor (ideally without components) fits better than the prepared extract thing. Is there perhaps a psionic class to cover this aspect of her? I'd love to hear thoughts/ideas/suggestions from any source but am asking here because I'm relatively new to Psionics and Path of War, and suspect both have a lot I should be looking at here. Thanks!
Lines like this imply one might be in a stance all day long:
System & Use wrote: "A stance remains in effect indefinitely and is never expended. The benefit of your chosen stance continues until you change to another stance you know as a swift action." Though this implies there could be some limit, or at least that they're intended for combat more than out of combat: System & Use wrote: "A stance is a type of fighting method that you maintain from round to round. So long as you stay in a stance, you gain some benefit from it. A martial disciple who performs a kata and assumes a specific posture as he prepares to fight is using a stance." Lets take as an example this stance from the Shattered Mirror discipline (which was just released in the Harbinger PDF): Shattered Mirror discipline wrote: "Silvered Mirror Stance (Su): When you assume this stance, choose a single non-personal range power, psi-like ability, spell, or spell-like ability affecting you. While you maintain this stance, allies within 30 feet of you also gain the benefits of the chosen effect for as long as it is affecting you." This would be an amazing way to share buffs out of combat, e.g. casting Overland Flight or Stoneskin on the Harbinger and getting it for free on any ally within 30'. What are the limits to this?
Hey all, I'm reading about the Path of War maneuvers and want to make sure I'm understanding it right. Maneuvers have a level listed (from 1 to 9). And I see:
I *think* this is saying that one can know maneuvers of a level up to your class level, e.g. 5th level warder can know 5th level maneuvers, and once one is 9th level one can learn any maneuver in your style(s). Is that right? (I think my confusion is just that when I see level 1 to 9 abilities I think in terms of full casters who don't get their 9th level abilities until, say 17th level.) Thanks!
