Sorry, but I need the chronicle modified. The information I originally gave was incorrect, I need it based on the updated information that I gave once I found the problem. See the post right after that for the corrected credits as well.

Neon walks among the survivors, trying to calm them down. "Yes, I know it is confusing. Be patient and we will get everyone to safely!"

He checks on Diniel and the injured miner, making sure they are alright. He lets Charli take care of treating anyone needing help -- without a junkbot he really can't do much about medical problems.

He asks the mercenaries and soldiers to keep an eye out for any trouble. Call them if there are any signs of further complications.

Then via Charli's telepathic ability, he projects Charli, shoot first but get into position to wake the miner. I'm going to summon some help so they have something else to shoot at!

Having said that, Neon starts casting from within the shadow of the building.

In response to Ivok's question, he says over the comms "I can make a cloud of fog, but I'm not sure if that would help enough. Otherwise once I get someplace clear of impending doom I could summon a small azata to help us fight. They can fly and would hate to see the people captured like this."

I wish you had stated that before my move. It looked more like a slope in the area we started, turning to a cliff later.

I have Flight, which means in one round up to 9 of them could jump off the cliff and I could make them land safely with Flight 1 using a single spell. It would require them organizing the jump -- everyone except one does a ready action to jump.

Oh well. Guess we will see where we are in a round or two.

Do we want to mark a path for the NPCs to follow?

Assuming the cliffs can be gone down, I think it is slightly faster to go down there and cut across than it is to go along the L route. Honesty, with as slow as they move getting a little distance between them and the collapsing ground would be good.

So, couple of questions on the situation shown on the new map.

GM Aerondor wrote:

Survivors move at 30', maybe a bit faster if you intimidate them into dropping their luggage and moving faster
[snip]

Also:
1: Moving to the right is difficult (counts as difficult terrain).
2: The terrain to to left of the map is being rapidly consumed by the simulation. Anyone in the red area at initiative 0 will fall into the reclamation furnaces.

Do the survivors have a move of 30’, meaning they can double move up to 60’ a round? I want to make sure that is the case before doing other things.

When you say the area to the right is difficult terrain, do you mean the area that is shown as cliff face or everything in the lower portion?

Goose may want to give alternate targeting on his post in case the artillery takes out the mech.

Primary: Mech. We need that gone now.
Secondary: Help with one of the other tasks before we leave or target the most hurt NPC visible.

Question for the GM: Can we take one of the downed NPCs? I would imagine questioning one of the attacking elves or dwarves would be valuable.

This time Neon springs back to his feet, goes running back out near the building, pausing just long enough to fire off another arcing surge through the Aeon, Purple and the mech very narrowly missing Ivok, and then hides from Purple and Red behind the building before he even has time to see the results of his spell.

Arcing Surge: 10d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 6, 4, 5, 6, 2, 5, 2) = 37 120 foot line, DC 20 reflex to avoid
SR if needed for Aeon: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Ysoki moxie to stand from prone as a swift action
Use his spell cache to cast Arcing Surge
Nimble Spell to move, cast, finish the move.
Should have cover from the building at the time of casting if the Aeon has reach

Could we perhaps replace the red square with a red line indicating the danger zone?

I get the impression that the red, green and blue zones were mostly about starting positions since we have been using the areas outside that for some of the battle stuff.

Line
A line-shaped effect extends away from you in a line in the direction you designate. It starts from any corner of your square and extends to the limit of its range or until it strikes a barrier that blocks line of effect (see page 271). A line-shaped effect applies to all creatures in squares through which the line passes.

——

Although I would have loved for the Arcing Surge to start anywhere in range, it appears it does start from where you cast it. I had made a small mistake in that I should be doing it at a vertex, but I don’t think that would have affected things.

This is specific to the line and cone areas — both state they start from any corner of your square.

60’ is a single move for Neon: 30’ base + 10’ Fleet feat + 20’ standard speed suspension. I just got tripped up by using a keyword when I wasn’t intending that. Probably should have said scurry or something like that in the description.

I will have to look more closely at the rules, it may be I have also been making assumptions on the arcing surge based on too many years of AD&D and Pathfinder. Would be great if I could start it at range,

Nice call on Arcing surge. I didn't realise that you could start it anywhere in range, but that certainly looks to be the case. Something for my technomancer to remember for the future.

Sorry, that isn’t what happened,

He ran forward 30’, cast the spell, ran back 30’ then dropped prone. Agile Casting allows him to move both before and after the spell is cast.

I don’t think you can start it anywhere in range. My understanding is you must start it from the caster and draw a line out.

Shouldn't Nelli have retreated? Charli asked her to and I think we could have used the help at the back.

Neon moves forward, let's loose another arcing surge, and retreats back to where he started. Once he is there, he drops prone so the rifles will have a harder time hitting him. The surge is lined up to get the hag, purple elf and the mech at the back.

Arcing Surge, electrical damage: 10d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 1, 5) = 26 120' line, DC 20 Reflex for half
SR: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

So this scenario seems to be set up such that we can’t do everything. We have the data download (which I don’t know what effect it has had), medicine checks, rescu8ng the miners, obvious NPCs and then the mech.

The only thing we can see mechanically doing anything is hitting the significant NPCs for damage.

I would like a little more insight as to what we are achieving by taking these choices. Was the ability to call in a strike because we got to a certain point in the download? Do we think downloading more would open new options?

There are some great things in this scenario, but I am feeling frustrated by having to make decisions where I can’t see any positive impact from taking certain actions.

Why hasn’t the siege mech moved on the map?

I am confused because the descriptions don’t match what is on the maps. I evidently also completely misunderstood how the explosives were set. I thought they would be triggered by enemies coming into the area where they were.

Neon activates his spell gem and the pile of junk starts moving. The drone motors are separated from the body and meld to sections of the vending machine. The shell of the coffee dispenser is remolded into rotors for the engines, while some of the tubing thins and gets connected into the main body. The tubes connect to a piece of medical equipment, perhaps a blood tester? The avionics from the drone are combined with electrics from a child’s toy.

A whole new construct starts to form out of the junk,

Is is clear that Neon has learned something from Radaszam and his work with the Acquisitives. Emblazoned across the body of the robot is the phrase “Complements of Neon Ten and the Starfinder Society” complete with the society emblem,

Activating spell gem of healing junkbot, complete with advertising!
