I'm assuming I can step out of melee range of the spellcaster in the doorway, so as not to be at disadvantage. Let me know if I can't avoid being in melee.

Joining the others in investigating the strange stoneflame, Nathadriel nods to Layali and Leifa. "That theory certainly fits with what we saw fighting those statues. If they've been hibernating for long enough it could possibly also explain the old Hilvan style of knife we first encountered back in Linhaus when that unfortunate man appeared during Gordon's feast.....although not how it arrived in midair."

Presuming there are no objections, I'll be wearing the half-plate we found - disadvantage on stealth for me..

Being careful not to cause further collaps, Nathadriel will also peer down into the chamber, looking for exits and perhaps an easy way down. If it's useful he'll cast light on a pebble and drop it down for everyone to get a look.

Gordon's critical reminded me of something - I'm not sure how you play it, but our group had a long discussion about the ranger's various bonus damage dice and critical damage. The PH suggests that all dice are doubled on a critical (not just the weapon damage die) and calls out a rogue's sneak attack as one example.

We had some debate about whether hunter's mark was part of the attack or something else. Similarly with the "+d8 to a wounded enemy" feature whose name I've forgotten. Our group decided the PH rule was very general and literally applied to all dice.

I vote for exploring the northeast quarter, exploring any smaller buildings we find on the way to the Ziggurat. Jiggy, did I notice any clues as to how old the statue-creatures we fought were?

Let's rest a while before pressing on to the next building. I'd rather conserve our magical healing given the dangers we've already found here."

I'd suggest a short rest for Leifa and I to spend hit die. I can use spells though, if the party would prefer to press on.
