I’m still willing to help. But before we venture into the necropolis again, we should prepare properly, both in regard to knowledge, equipment and weapons. A big part of why we lost this last fight was that we only had one weapon which could hurt the Vanth.

Well, now what? We failed the test, but someone still needs to enter the necropolis and seek out the source of the undead horde. And we have several clues and scraps of information we might pursue to find out more. Myron asks once Dumah is recovered.

Myron stands silently by during the frantic attempt to restore Dumah to life. His knuckles are pale from the tight grip he keeps on both his kukri.

Such a waste! Even if you restore his life, all these time and ressources could have been used to fight the undead. I hope at least this will make you reconsider unleashing these things in the city. he mutters bitterly as they move to the chapel.

If Myron isn't compelled to flee, he would circle around to flank with Dumah, using Aid Another to boost his AC like he did his last action. And if that succeeds, then I guess the second hit does not go through and Dumah is still up?

Ouch...Sadly, looks like Dumah traded his Orc Ferocity. I have not been tracking his hp, but considering he just got tapped for his max hp, he has got to be well into the negatives. Taht puts him flat on his back with the only weapon capable of hurting the enemy. And anyone trying to pick it up eats an AoO that could drop them too. I hate to say it, but maybe it's time to surrender?

Though loathe to leave Elrisiel to face the Vanth alone, Myron realizes that Dumah and his flail are their only hope of defeating the powerful psychopomp.

With a worried glance at the musetouched wizard, he strides across the arena to stand between Dumah and Rakara. He draws his kukri as he goes, and lashes out at the injured esobok.

Readied actions and AoO’s are your friend against Fly-by attacks. Myron is ready. A resistance orison for everyone right before combat would also be nice.

Myron responds to Ptemenib’s warning with an expression of equal parts surprise and disgust.

You mean to tell me, that after all our fights and after risking our lives to stop the creatures HIS men summoned, our test to be “allowed” to help is to fight ANOTHER of these psychopomps - his private family pet, in fact?! These guys are nuts, and I grew up in Cheliax, where trial by summoned devils were common, mind you! Remind me again why we’re doing this, when we could be out there helping people? he rants exasperated.

Once they get to the courtyard, he calls out to Nahkt: Hey, Your Worship! Do you have better control over your critter than your men did, or are we supposed to fight until someone is slain?

Calming a bit, he adresses Sebti and Ptemenib. Since it seem we’re about to spill more blood for Wati, might we trouble you for a channel? Some of us still have wounds from our last encounter with his playthings.

Once the Delvers are alone:

You heard Ptemenib. We have to be smart. Dumah, you still have that adamintine flail we found in the Necropolis, right? I have a tanglefoot bag that will hinder his flight. Kheled, we will need Pharasma’s blessing and probably a summoned friend or two. If it likes to swoop and my tanglebag don’t work, ready a strike once it dives to attack. I’ll do my best to help in any way I can, I’m not going to be able to hurt it.

We do what we can to help, High Priestess...although it will take more than just us to drive the horde back to their graves, I'm afraid.

He pauses, then asks. Ptemenib said that these...esoboks...were a caste of psychopomps. What are these psychopomps? Servants of Pharasma? And what other kinds exist? I hope they are not all as vicious as these brutes.

Pleased to see Ptemenib again, Myron launches into an excited recounting of their most resent adventures.

Hi Ptemenib! Things are getting more an more crazy out there. Would you believe that we found a long dead judge had reaimated as a gory skeleton. He was right back to judging people and ordering his undead bailiffs to remove their eyes. We were able to persuade them all to return to his rightful rest.

In route to the courthouse, we came upon a woman dragging her reanimated husband in a rope. The pair were almost torn to pieces by a mob, but we also managed to diffuse that situation.

Then, on our way back here, we encountered a trio of strange summoned creatures who were running rampant, attacking undead and living indiscriminately. Witnesses report that they were summoned by members of the Voices...disturbing news, if that is true. I made a sketch of them in my journal...Do you know what they are?

Myron presents a rough drawing of the strange summoned beasts they just fought.

She's right, Kheled. Either the summoner acted on his own or he was under orders. Either way, it must be up to the church to discipline their own. I think the best thing we can do is report this quickly.

Are we ready to return to the temple?

A pharasmin released these beast into the city? Incredible!? It would explain why they attacked the zombies, but I can't believe any of the priests would do something so reckless. We had better report this back at the Grand Mausoleum.

With no threats visible and the woman starting to panic, Myron sheathes his kukri and hurries over to help smooth things out.

Doing his best to appear non-threatening, he says:

He's telling you the truth. He summoned the elemental to fight the crocodile-faced beasts, who in turn seemed to fight both undead and living. it is truly confusing times, but I assure you, we mean you no harm.

Unfortunately, unless you get Power Attack (and ideally Furious Focus as well), that feeling is only going to get worse. Without a scaling way to increase your damage modifier, you will hardly be able to scratch most high-level monsters.

With her high dex and Shield of Swings, Rakara is focused more on defense than offense. But ironically, that means many enemies will ignore her, because someone else is hurting them more. And at higher levels, she will get hit no matter how high her AC.

If you get Power Attack, Furious Focus and bump your strength to 16 or 18, you’ll notice a huge difference.
