@Baxtra: Once again, Monstrous life do not possess supernatural abilities and neither does any non-sentient creature that Muthadh has created or modified. Once again, and I doubt anyone would remember this but I did talk about how fungi are not technically plants in any way other than appearance. Thus all the creatures that Muthadh has created are not plants either. Dnd has classified fungi as plant types because it is easy to do so and because it fits their physical appearance or make up. I cannot change how Dnd/PF classifies their creatures and I wont bother trying because their classifications are irrelevant to the LoC distinctions.

I honestly don't care all that much anymore though. I don't care if you keep your animal handling and training concepts so long as you understand that any non-sentient creature with magical powers or supernatural abilities is at least a magical life form.

Even if it does not possess those things, if you put a group of those creatures up against a group of humans, and it still gets a +1 bonus simply because of what it is, then that is by definition a monstrous life form.

You already pointed out that you traded to me toxicology, so I am good with that. You already have chemistry as an advanced concept so I have no idea why the hell you would want it as a mundane concept other than to deny anyone else from taking it.

That is a dick move though to be honest, I don't see how taking any concept and simply buying it in a different tier is any where near legal.

@Veldrin: EDIT YOUR POST! Artifacts are items wielded by mortals! A god touching one will destroy it! Quick! Change it to a Relic!

Happy Birthday

Create Relic: 4 AP Action:

Create Relic: Relics are powerful items that would destroy a mortal if they tried to use one. Only gods have the force of will to wield a Relic. Relics can do almost anything a god can imagine, and grant them bonuses to divine combat. A God can claim a Relic for his/her own in a couple of ways. 1) it's presented to him by another God. 2) He engages in battle (Combat or OoC predetermined) for it. A god may rend/modify a Relic in the following ways: 1) Destroying something is always easier than creating, for 3 AP a god may destroy an Relic in his possession (If you don't possess the Relic, refer to how to claim an Relic) 2) A god may modify an Relic in his possession for 2 AP, modification can alter the book of future possibilities into a book of past outcomes. The Creator of the Relic is immediately aware of it's destruction. Like an earthquake, energy from a relic sends shockwaves throughout the cosmos, and those attuned to them, such as the creator, or other gods who have previously wielded the relic for extended lengths of time, would feel it. A god may have a relic be a shield or a sword, a weapon or a piece of armor, as long as they are wielding the relic an add 1 dice to any power [hp, attack or defense] The bonus of a relic must be defined at the relics making. Unlike a sanctum you may not change what stat gets the bonus before combat, you must choose what stat gets the bonus when you create the relic.

@Monkeygod::
Except no, they are not.

rules discussion:
We need to have a bit of background understanding. Here are the descriptions for mundane life as stated in the rules:

"Mundane Life 1 AP: You create non-Sentient Animals (bugs, germs, gerbils) (you may use this action for free any amount of times when you use a create land action or an alter land action.)"

Now here it is for monstrous life as stated in the rules:

"Monstrous life 1 AP: non-sentient monsters Giant Spiders, Dire Animals, Purple Worms, or hell, Dinosaurs. You can't use an alter land action/create land action and make monstrous life. So while you can use alter land to make a land full of honey and bees without a mundane life action, you can't make Jurassic park with dinosaurs with just an alter or create land action. Monstrous life has a +1 bonus to combat"

Now one thing you will notice is that one of them says "animals" and the other says "monsters" but what you will ALSO notice is that THEY ARE ALL ANIMALS. The only difference between mundane life and monstrous life is scope. Mundane life are typically smaller and more harmless creatures while monstrous life are clearly dangerous creatures that sentient life would need some kind of protection to defend against.

If you are referring to say a winter wolf or a blink dog, those would actually fit under greater life.

philosophical rant:
Now lets pretend for a moment that mundane and monstrous life was so vastly different. Lets pretend that monstrous life actually includes magical creatures like hellhounds, flying serpents, and unicorns. You are saying there is is less of a difference between training a snake and a wolf, then there is training a wolf and a wolf that spits fire.

Remember, the concept is broad and vague. It includes all kinds of varied creatures that in no way should be trained in the same way. You say that you doubt the techniques would be the same, and to that I would agree, but if we go by that train of thought, then we need a concept for training snakes, wolves/dogs, large cats, small cats, birds of prey, carrier birds, and everything else under the sun because those all use different techniques too.

When I created the concept of "train monster", it was specifically done to relate to the Faolchu, a dog-like monstrous creature with fungal properties. Training one would be no different than training a regular wolf. Hell because it is fungal and not plant, it doesn't even need sunlight and it needs food and water about as much as any other living creature.

If we use DnD as an example, there is NO difference in technique at all in training magical beasts - some of which would CLEARLY fall under the greater life category - and all that happens is you get a penalty on your check (assuming said creature has animal intelligence).

exasperated finale:
So yes, I agree that ALL animals - monstrous or otherwise - are different and that they would use different techniques, but that isn't what the concept does. The concept introduces the idea that doing such a thing is not only possible but also a good idea. Leave it up to the individuals to figure out which are the best techniques; they tend to be good at that sort of thing - or at least they are now, because I already introduced the concept to them a while ago.

------------

About Baxtra:
Now here is where my inquiry to Baxtra lies. When I created the train monster and domesticate monster concepts, I did so under the guise that all non-earth creatures were basically monsters. They sure as hell were not normal to us. Domesticate monsters was meant to fit cow-like, horse-like, and sheep-like creatures (anything that can be milked, harvested, etc but were still enough of a threat to be considered monstrous life), while Train monster was meant to fit wolf-like creatures (like the faolchu who were most definitely monstrous creatures), large cat-like creatures, and things of that sort.

There in lies the potential issue. If Baxtra's train and handle animals targets the SAME creatures, then yes, we very much have a conflict, because the concepts do the same thing (because they are in fact the same concepts with different names). If Baxtra wants to train gerbils for war and handle bees, then there is no conflict and I am okay with it (hell I don't even have a problem with handle animal dealing with non-monstrous life, now that I think about it).

If we are upgrading monstrous life into something far greater than what is said in the rules (again, most of them are just animals taken to extreme sizes), then not only do I need to redo my Faolchu (either make them mundane life or make them a hell of a lot more powerful) but I also need to redo my concepts because that was NEVER what they were intended to be geared towards. Those concepts were meant to train rhinos as beasts of burden and train fungal-wolves how to fight along side them (and if you look at monstrous life including dinosaurs which themselves include herbivores like the stegosaurus, the possibly scavenger-diet t-rex, and the greatly feared velociraptor which is the size of a modern turkey or smaller). They were NOT created to train and domesticate things like the blink cats (whose name I cant remember but they were a giant semi-intelligent pack-hunter cat that can dimension door at will and had six legs).

@Monkeygod: sorry for the vinegar and happy birthday.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

@Baxtra: I need you to look at the most recent concepts you have created because I believe we have some overlap that might lead to conflict.

Your animal training and handling can be confused for my monster training and domestication, mainly because they do the same thing. I will need clarification as to whether or not "animals" are considered "monsters" in which case if they are, then we have a conflict. If not, then I am fine with it.

You already developed chemistry as an advanced concept and that was after I traded it to you for toxicology, which you also just tried to create. Im not sure that you can (or would even need to) create a mundane version of an identical advanced concept. Im assuming that if you have the advanced concept, then the mundane part of that concept is already included. I could be wrong on that front.

Regardless of the verdicts above, you are still encroaching on my concept on toxicology. A concept which I will reiterate, you traded to me so you could have chemistry.

The Librarian will take Baxtra's hand and lead her via travel through the columns to Alliandra. we can say this happened prior to your discussion so that everyone is there, minus Muthadh who clearly is being summoned after the conversation was mostly through.

The messenger will nod,"At once, Great Mother." and his dusty body will crackle with electricity as he flashes into a column and zips through until he finds Muthadh.

"M'lord, are you well? Our mother asks for your presence. She says that our father is there."

Muthadh stops what he is doing at the mention of his father,"He is? Though he is responsible for my being, I have never truly known him..." he offers his hand,"Bring me to them." The messenger nods and taking the god's hand, they both flash into a nearby pillar and make way to Alliandra's retreat in this shadowy realm. They will arrive relatively quickly. As soon as he appears he nods and says to the Messenger,"Thank you." he will call out,"Father?" as he moves around, shrinking himself down from his huge size in order to fit within her home if he must.

4 AP for altering a plane's rules?

I can work with that.

Are there any restrictions on how much we can change or anything?

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

The Messenger:

The Messenger arrives at the wooden cottage built by a goddess. In a flash he is through a window and floating before the Great Mother. With a voice like that of a wind on a spring day, he says "Hello Great Mother. I am the Messenger of the Nexus. I have come bearing great news. Muthadh has ascended and emerged from his slumber. He wishes to speak with you. Is that acceptable?"

He floats a respectable distance from her, a medium sized wisp of multi colored spores kicked up by a continuous dust devil, having a form that barely resembles the fungal lord. Despite his lack of a truely physical form, he still takes on a respectful posture. His hands together and inf front of him, his body lower than head height for Alliandra so that she can look down and he up at her. His body curved in a soft bow.

The Librarian:

Baxtra will see random discharges amidst the columns within the plane. Sometimes, her own power use would hit such a column and go flying off in a seemingly random direction and never to be seen again. Floating there and looking about, something will find her. Electricity crackles in a pillar close to her and with a flash of light that pierces the darkness, the shadowy librarian appears before Baxtra. It has been some time since she last saw the fungal lord and the Librarian certainly resembles him but his form is entirely composed of wispi and swirling shadows. semi translucent if not for the sheer darkness of his form.

He speaks in a calm and emotionless voice, "Hello Goddess Flairchild. I am called the Librarian of the Nexus of Shadow. I am responsible for the care and cataloging of energy within this plane. Is there something or someone you are in search for? Some thing I can help you find?"

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

The Nexus of Shadow shudders as the force within it begins to emerge from its cocoon. Muthadh has ascended and with the cracking of that shell, comes a release of electricity and shadowy winds - like a windstorm had been kept within that container for eons. It tears through the immediate vicinity, whipping past and connecting with the pillars of the realm but otherwise not doing much harm. The shadowy librarian stands there unfazed as he awaits his progenitor's return.

action:
Gain ability: elemental mastery Air: 5 AP

The winds and energy coalesce into a more definite shape. Muthadth is back though a bit larger and bulkier to show for it. Aside him is a smaller version of himself - not unlike the librarian in that he is merely a shard - but unlike the librarian, this one is barely an electric cloud in the shape of their fungal master. Muthadth says "Librarian, I want you to meet The Messenger." The shards bow to one another. Muthadh says,"Your duties will remain as they always have, Librarian. Messenger, please find our mother and let her know I have emerged and wish to see her if she is ready." The voice crackles as it flashes from the Messenger,"At once m'lord!" and with a flash the messenger zips through the plane like lightning.

On the material plane, the Lorekeepers receive news of more knowledge has been placed upon the world. The magical arts of weather and wind control.

action:
Create Magical Concept: Call weather and wind (shadow/nature) 4 AP

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

Muthadh will cloak himself in shadow and travel to the Nexus. There he will go to the center to collect energy around himself. He tells the Librarian,"It is time for me to ascend. I will be within this shell for some time. Mind the place and let mother know that I will see her when I have finished growing up." He gives the shard a wry grin before the two work together to harden shadow magicks around him. As the cocoon of sorts, seals around him, he will slumber until his power his increased enough to allow him to ascend.

Action:

I am spending 2 points towards ascending to Lesser Rank! Yay! Also, I realized that I forgot that I needed to pay for additional legendary concepts over my magical concepts. I owe 3 points and I am spending those now to pay for it.

2 points: gain Lesser rank

3 points: points owed

remaining points: 0

The Librarian will make his way steadily to find Alliandra to deliver the good news - riding the galvanized strands of the Nexus. It does not take him long as the cocooned god releases a pulse of energy through the Nexus, energizing the shadowstuff even more!

free action:

Blessing on the Nexus: Until the next rollover, the shadowstuff is energized and more fluid, making it highly malleable to others - including gods for whom it is normally unaffected by!

Basically this means that The Librarian will contact any god within the Nexus to let them know of Muthadh's ascension and the temporarily flexible nature of the plane. He will inform them that Alliandra, Veldrin, or any god who is a member of The Great Mother's Pantheon, will be allowed to create a sanctum (basically you have my permission) - a permanent home away from the material plane - during this time if they so wish.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

"When weaving a plane, the creating god must decide on any special features it has, such as accelerated time, or empowered magic. "

As qouted from the rules section on the 5 AP of creating a plane.

When you created the plane, you could have barred all gods from entering the plane or something, perhaps based on them being alive or something.

I myself have not blocked gods from entering my plane but I did specify (on creation) that gods could not affect the permanent structure of the plane - only mortals could.

Those kinds of details can be important like in instances like this.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

They will draw on the ground, explaining that they come following the stars.

They try their best to illustrate that it is their goal to find something embedded on the continent that they are supposed to find.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

They learn that the ship wont be able to take off until tomorrow - its a really big fungus and needs to stock up for another month's travel.

They also learn that the Lorekeepers are not planning on leaving.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

the lorekeepers nod,"You created a barrier to keep the birds away. Thank you." they bow their heads softly and smile. They will repeat the words back to the Llieldasine as they begin the process of learning their language.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

Their healing magics would specifically not work as they are trying to heal something that needs to be repaired. Shadowstuff itself is non-organic so healing magics don't work on it at all. Also, due to its magical nature, it requires powerful creation magic to conjure the stuff and repair it.

However, their magics are not wasted. The spells they use to facilitate the growth of the Mycellum works perfectly. What should take an hour probably takes no more than a few minutes thanks to them. Being a fungus based vessel, the surrounding flora wont be particularly happy about its presence as it begins to break down plant matter that the mycellum is connected to. If indeed they CAN hear the fungus, it is probably quite happy at the moment and its doubtful they will care about anything beyond their singular thought of "Nom nom nom!" that they are thinking right now.

The Lliedesine will find a lot of wispi's own provisions are either moldy or slimy. They seem to enjoy the flavor of it anyway. The Wispi will still enjoy the gifts being offered to them but none of the Faolchu will even approach anything remotely fresh. They only seem to stomach the rotted stuff.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

She will shrug and will shout back to the others,"They want to approach and try and "heal" the ship! Give them space!" there is some grumbling but they call back,"Fine but if they damage any of the shadowstuff, they join our salad bar!"

The lorekeeper sighs and will look back to the eldest and make a kind of pleading motion to be careful before motioning for her to continue.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

She nods and bows her head and will gesture for her to wait as she heads back through the veil.

She addresses the group,"They don't appear to be aggressive... well overly aggressive. They didn't attack us. They simply pulled us down because they thought we were in trouble. They think the ship is in... pain and that it is damaged."

Another says,"They are not entirely wrong. So what is the problem then? What do they want?"

The lorekeeper will explain,"They want to feed and heal the ship before they will let it - and us - go."

One of the shadow crafters groans,"By that time, the jungle will have picked the shadows apart! We wont be flying anywhere!"

The lorekeeper nods,"They do not speak Auren and they appear to be partially if not full blind to some forms of light. She didn't seem to be able to perceive our illusory explanation at all. This means explaining what shadowstuff is... well it will be difficult. It will take time. For now though, we are not in hostile territory. You can drop the veil, keepers... it is likely they cannot even perceive it."

The veil drops. The faolchu growl once the veil is down but they are calmed by their handlers. Weapons are being sheathed... if the person was lucky enough to have a sheath... or a weapon. Aggressive stances are being dropped though a wary attitude still remains. The Lorekeepers all disembark to greet the leafy woman.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

she points to the model in her hands and shakes her head. She reaches with sharp fingers and pinches her own arm,"Oooo!" in a dramatic fashion, before shaking her head. She points to the craft she came on and then points to her stomach and makes a growling sound. She pats the ground softly and makes a "Mmmmm" sound and looks to her to see if she understands.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

The craft was plated in about a foot of shadowstuff... minus where the birds got at it... the fungal cap that made up the craft hull was slowly letting down its mycellum threads but that would take its own time.

Meanwhile, the Lorekeepers change their chanting. Unlike before, the chanting is not quite uniform throughout. It causes the illusion to warble and warp:

The spoiler below details what the illusion does. They are using a FIGMENT which means it is something that is being left out for others to observe - it is not being sent into the minds of the subjects unlike a PHANTASM which is purely mental. Plant folk are immune to mind affecting effects and depending on how you believe illusions should work, would make them incapable of seeing any illusion - regardless of its effects. I leave it up to you whether or not they can perceive illusory figments.

illusion story:
The glittering star-like dots begin to converge and they use pointillism (creating images using dots of pure color) to create images that tell a moving story.

The animation shows several stars in the sky, brighter than the others. A bright beam traces down from a few of them to point directly over head Dragon. The images scale out to show there are many people looking up to the sky, and interpreting the message.

The veil goes dark and a new animation is shown, this one showing multiple people getting on board what looks to be a boat. They can see it is the same people who looked up at the stars based on the color of the robes they wore. The craft takes central view and the background is animated to give the impression of a voyage from floating islands across a great ocean, sometimes touching down on green lands, only to take off once more until they reach a green land where a bright beam is coming from the sky.

Finally, the animation shows the ship being captured by the jungle. In their eyes a more sudden and unexpected (but no intended harm) attack rather than a show of aid. As the veil goes dark, a giant image of someone walking - this one wearing the robes of the star gazers from before - but slowly shrinking until it is the size of a normal woman.

A woman who then steps beyond the veil and out into the open, carrying a knotted staff.

She speaks in Auren:"Tháinig muid i síocháin..." and she kneels down in a similar fashion to the other one.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

There comes great howling from the Wispi,"Secure the main sails! Get the little ones below decks! Secure the Faolchu! ALL HANDS BRACE FOR IMPACT!"

With the grabbing and lowering, the find the descent not as turbulent as they expected. Touching down on the soft soil, the craft itself is ready to root, thinking this is perfectly normal. The shadowstuff still trying to fight the foilage holding it down a bit but beyond that little upward motion. The wispi get into natural defensive stances. Faolchu alongside their handlers, armed with tooth, claw, scavenged sword, shield, and anything else they could find. The Lorekeepers begin to chant and coordinate their shadow magic. Concentrating on their focuses, they shield the craft in an inpenetrable visual illusion. A glittering veil of blackness and starlight. None can see in, but the defenders can see out.

The Lorekeepers quiet their chanting some, simply maintaining their spell for a duration and waiting to see what comes next.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

The Destiny's Tempest continued on its course. As the birds began to inspect the soft and spongy shadowstuff, it became clear that they might become a problem. After a scout had to dangle on a side to inspect the hull, they found the nesting birds. On the bright side, they had plenty of food to hunt. On the down side though, the birds were irrevocably damaging the craft! There was no telling if they could find enough shadowstuff to repair the hull.

Ceannaire Urmah was greatly concerned,"We need to find a landing position immediately or we may find ourselves crashing!"

The only Male leader, Ceannaire Hyli said,"We land here and we can forget ever taking off again. The creatures here do not know any better. They will tear apart our hull faster than we can rebuild it. We must turn towards the sea."

Ceannaire Urmah scoffs,"We turn back, we might not make it! We already now there is no place to land where we came from!"

Ceannaire Incari says,"A gamble then? If we are to crash, should we do so closer to the sea or in the middle of a jungle we know little about? Even should we find a clearing, Ceannaire Urmah is correct. We will not take off again. Without our bearings, at that. To the sea we go, or be swallowed up by the jungle."

Ceannaire gives a short nod and turns to a crewman,"We are turning around. Tell the Iarrthoir Pacáiste to keep the wildlife off of our hull. Spread the word to hold on to loose items. We must make a sharp turn portside in order to make the sea before Fréimhe." The crewman nods and growls before bounding off, howling orders.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

The Destiny's Tempest continued its voyage over the seas. The winds were kind but weak, keeping progress slow. The families keep themselves busy, either tending to the well being of the craft or tending to the well being of the passengers...

The Lorekeepers did what they could to keep the tension down. The Destiny's Tempest was one of many vessels that had elected to travel so far and so quickly, but without the normal interactions the caravan routes encountered. Despite their love of travel, the number on board still strained their nerves.

During the day while some were recording what they witnessed and interviewed the elders for the families' histories, a few others told stories of the old times. Using illusions of various senses to tell stories of monstrous tribes or terrible beasts being beaten back by brave families and their clever wit.

At night they look up to the Réaltaí - the stars and help guide the helmsmen along their way. Songs of simple heroes are sung as reminders of the roles that all can play if they are able and the circumstances are JUST right.

Nearly a month has passed since their last touch down. Supplies are fine, supplemented as they are with fishing, but the craft needs its rest as well... Then they see it. The continent of Dragon. Like a dark emerald it beckoned to them.

A young male crewman jumps up to the helm,"Ceannaire Incari. Land spotted ahead. Looks like the right place. Thick jungle and all."

Ceannaire Ora Incari stood as regal as a wispi could, her eyes surveying the landscape. She nodded to him,"Very good. Let the Iarrthoir Pacáiste know that they will be needed in finding a landing zone." he bounds off to let the scouts know. Once gone she turns to the Lorekeeper,"So please tell me. What do you know of the continent?"

Another female, this one older, says softly,"Is that not what we are here to find out? I know it is thick with jungle... but we have no maps. No way to tell where or how to get to a city. We will simply have to trust in the Réaltaí to guide us."

Ora squirms at that thought,"And should the Réaltaí not actually lead us anywhere?"

The Lorekeeper sighed, her hands running along a knotted staff,"Tch! So little faith, Ceannaire Incari? The Réaltaí will not lead us to the knowledge we seek. No... they will only lead us close enough. Gone are the days when things were more simple. Like leanaí taking their first independent steps... we too must forge our own paths."

Ora looks unimpressed. She asks,"So does that mean when we get... wherever we are going, that means you will leave my Flotilla?"

The Lorekeeper chuckles,"You are not your Flotilla and it is not yours... but yes I and my Pacáiste will leave you in peace. No more sharing your resources with poor old freeloaders like myself."

Ora bows her head slightly and softly,"I meant no disrespect of course."

The Lorekeeper chuckles,"Fufufu I am sure." She taps the floor with her staff,"Good winds Ceannaire Incari."

Ora nods,"May they keep you aloft, Lorekeeper." The lorekeeper leaves and Ora looks back to the horizon and the thick jungles that await them and the Flotilla aboard the Destiny's Tempest.

Muthadh created a guide in the sky for the wispi to follow. however, in order to follow it, they needed a way to get there. lashing together a bunch of their wagons was an alright idea, but it became clear that they needed a specialized vehicle to bear them across the skies.

They worked hard, harvesting shadowstuff in great numbers in order to counter the weight they would bear aloft. Like the islands that they call home. Soon, the very first of dozens of giant air ships was launched, with several drifts of Wispi banding together to pilot these craft in all directions. The Lorekeepers chartered one called "Destiny's Tempest" which contained the Incari, Hyli, and Urmah drifts. A ruling council of the head matrons in each drift determined their course.

"Towards the Dragon Continent!" Said the Lorekeepers.

They set off in search of their first quest location.

action:

Create Advanced Concept=Shadow Air Carriers (air ships) 2 AP:

The Shadow Air Carrier looks like a giant galleon with its hull made entirely of shadowstuff. It uses a combination of sails and specially grown fungi that blow out pufts of air in order to ride the air currents or push off in a direction that the wind is not blowing. Though the Air Carrier has its natural advantage of air superiority, it has a disadvantage in that its hull is largely unarmored as extra weight would slow the craft down too much. This means that destroying the shadowstuff on the craft's underside will eventually bring it down... not to mention that poor piloting and crashes are catastrophic. Air Carriers use organic architecture, so they are grown more than built so manufacturing times are low. However, due to their biological natures, they must touch down on nourishing soil after a while, making their trips often long hops.

Create Society=Flotillas 1 AP:

Flotillas are groups of drifts that have banded together on a air carrier for mutual benefit. How many drifts might band together depends on initial interest but never exceeds 5 and only the largest of drifts can man an air carrier on their own. When multiple air Carriers band together in an alliance, this is called a "Greater Flotilla" and is often used for greater protection, however they rarely last longer than it takes to reach their destination. Once there, they often plit up to go their own way or join other Greater Flotillas.

@Baxtra: Yeah I am good with that. I will take Toxicology instead of chemistry. same cost so no need to mess with points. So we can just ammend that.

The female wispi would be the only ones to benefit from weapon making since the males use tooth and claw. However, I also like it for the narrative. With your weapon making and now chemistry, you will be able to make chemical warfare. Like weaponized acids and such.

Meanwhile I have alchemy and now toxicology. Once they earn the knowledge, you could conceivably find your nearest wispi caravan having a witch or two who will trade you magical potions and poisons for a price.

So all in all, I am okay with it.

Gather your heroes and seek out other peoples to aid you. This knowledge is yours to claim as lorekeepers - not as Wispi. Go now. Learn and grow."

Since alchemy has been thrown around a bit, I am definitely taking it since when I asked a while ago if anyone had taken it I A) got no responses and B) have been unable to find any references to it as a concept before then. However, before I do anything crazy like that, I need some feedback on its overall power level. Is alchemy considered an advanced concept that uses mundane resources to create uncanny but otherwise mundane effects or is it a magical concept that takes the magical properties of otherwise mundane (or magical) objects and combines them into something likewise magical?

If it is the former, then should we really call it alchemy or just chemistry and be done with the fanciful name? If it is the latter, then will simply coming up with the concept somehow instill the magical essence within said objects or would some AP expenditure be required?

Also, if I pick up Alchemy, will I still need to pick up toxicology? The study of explosives? (heh heh Vibrational Spectroscopy - such a silly name) What about Pharmacology? (apothocaries) There are tons of things that have some basis in (al)chemistry... which honestly is something I expected when I went this whole "symbiosis" route.

It is highly unlikely that we found wood resin acids by bathing in water and then finding burns. For one, the acid is not particularly strong - its by products can be used as bleaching agents for instance and that is taking away the fact that if a person is bathing in a body of water large enough to douse their body, no single tree will be capable of producing enough of the acid to burn them. Bleach their skin or hair maybe, after spending many a day lounging around in its waters, but burning is highly unlikely. I wouldn't presume that ancient peoples were not dumb enough to bathe in acidic water, I just doubt the same people would then bottle the stuff up and throw it at people.

Doing a bit more research, the compound is far more toxic than it is acidic. Trees produced the acid as a defense against insects and fungi - not for dissolving faces off of thine enemies. If you somehow got face dissolving acid from wood resin in water, then that means you either added something in to make a different (and more powerful) acid OR you took something away (refined the acid into a more potent form) both of which fall easily within the realm of Alchemy. Maybe there is more to it that you are aware of that my searching can't reproduce - namely that all you need is some good ol' wood resin and water in order to make a weapon.

Regardless, doing the research I have found that wood resin found within temperate coniferous trees (like the ones around where I live! yay!) can be used for all kinds of purposes! Time to bust out the chem set.

The easiest way to tell if something chemical is (al)chemical is to determine if it is harvested naturally or if created artificially. Finding and harvesting tar is natural while soaking wood resin in water is artificial. One method requires finding the resource in its natural environment while the other requires the component parts and knowledge of how to put them together.

If you harvest the tar but then add in a catalyst to create ignition, you are once again back at the "requires the component parts" side.

I like the idea of magical schools having a legendary root attached to them. A. it prevents all of the schools of magic being gobbled up and hoarded and B. the LoC rules (even prior to being re-written) kinda leaned in that direction anyway.

As for grandfathering them, I would prefer the former over the latter.

The Wispi are being sent out to various parts of the world. They are appropriate targets.

@Alliandra: Also, I have no problem sharing those concepts. I will look for a few things that I would like but like with Baxtra, I am okay with you taking now, and I take later.

Gypsy Crone:"Yes... yes! I will give you what you want, yes! For a fee of course.... eheheheh... oh don't worry about the price for now... we can discuss that later! How about we worry about how I can help YOU! eheheheh!"

Muthadh watched his children grow and evolve. They were surviving in this world and starting to understand it. Hardly a full society, they were a group of separate tribes called “Drifts” made up of a family or two of Wispi nomads, always moving from place to place… He wished to allow them to specialized even more. To the best of the hunter-gatherers, he gave them the knowledge needed to master their enviroments. To the wander-lusting socialities he gave the confidence to span out across the world, following the bring Sparks in the sky to other lands in search of trade and new cultures. To the wisest, he gave the greatest duty; to keep and preserve the histories of their people, from now to forever more.

He had more knowledge to give but he felt the time for hard evolution was at hand. They no longer could simply inherit their gifts. They had to earn them. So he watched, from the shadows as always, in search of those with strong enough will and wisdom to snatch up their power.

This includes harvesting their flesh for meat but also includes milking and harvesting hides. [/spoiler] 1 AP

Form order: Lorekeepers:
The lorekeeprs are the specific members of any particular Drift (tribe). These specific individuals keep the lore of the Trees of Knowledge but also keep the knowledge of their specific Drift, their specific migration route, their specific region, and finally their specific island. Though Drifts may be unfriendly or even at war with each other. ALL Lorekeepers go to the same places to learn their skills. They travel from tree of knowledge to tree of knowledge for years – all the while learning their own histories along with those of their kin-drifts. Once they have gone through no less than a decade of learning and traveling, they return to their respective drift to apprentice under the drift’s lorekeeper before eventually succeeding them. The lorekeeper’s association is run by impartial lore masters who live within permanent Wispi settlements. These old and learned folk do not affiliate themselves with ANY drift and keep themselves as unbiased as possible from drift affairs. Unfortunately, this means that despite being a neutral party, they rarely act as mediators or peace keepers and instead let the drifts handle their own problems.

Create mundane concept: Organic Architecture:
This simply means using your surrounding natural enviroment to influence your building design. Exclusively used by permanent settlements, they are often made by hollowing out giant glowcaps, floating on slime lilypads, or roosting among the canopies of fungal tree forests. This form of architecture uses as much horticulture as it does engineering. Lorekeepers are masters at this fine art and it is no surprise that the most creative uses of this architectural design can be found among their schools.

Create Advanced Concept: Train Monsters:
Monsters like Faolchu are dangerous and to the denizens of the Isles of Auren, all creatures are predators and prey of one another. Knowing this, Wispi also know that everything is connected. Everything depends on each other. As such they have learned to appreciate and take advantage of this close connection and train local monsters for their needs. The most mundane use of this concept is simply in herding, breeding, and harvesting monsters for their resources, but where this concept gains tactical significance is when they are used for war. Faolchu are the local favorites in terms of beast companionship but the Wispi’s skill in training monsters does not stop with them… though their preferences often do.
2 AP

create advanced concept: Harvest Shadowstuff:
Similar to harvesting mana crystals from ley lines or some similar magical resource, Shadowstuff can be harvested from places properly warped by shadow energy. Shadowstuff is a vital component - you cannot cast shadow magic without it. It can also be used to create semi-magical objects with physics breaking properties. Weapons and armor can be made from the stuff giving them the ability to punch through most non-magical armors and resist damage from non-magical weapons and tools. However, its dark nature means that it corrodes quickly when kept in brightly lit areas. That combined with how long it takes for shadow infused fungi to grow means that shadowstuff is a fairly precious commodity among the Wispi who both bless and curse the magical resource.
2 AP

Create advanced concept: Shadowstuff Wagons:
These wagons have a bottom lined with gravity repellent shadowstuff. This lets Wispi pack their things onto carts which they can then glide over the rough terrain of the isle's. They are not true flyers for a few reasons. They have no propellant. Thus they have to be pulled by beasts of burden. The only beasts that the Wispi have ever been able to domesticate are the Faolchu and being land based, they cannot pull a flying wagon. The second reason is because, for the exception of underground routes and the Isles of Auren, most overland routes have at least half the day in some form of bright lighting. This degrades the shadowstuff under the wagons. This is not a good thing, so the wagons often have a skirt that keeps the underside dark but forces the wagons to remain low on the ground. The limit to how much the wagons can carry is up to the construction of the wagon itself and how much the Faolchu can move. Even if gravity is nullified, mass is still an issue, which means so is inertia.
2 AP

create mundane concept: Scavenge:
The race is able to scavenge equipment and food from other creatures and make use of it. Unless they understand how the equipment works, they can only use it in the most basic ways. While nearly all races loot what treasures they can, scavenging is a state of mind where all junk is treasure. Scavenger races often wear mismatched clothing, armors, and other equipment while selling whatever excesses they have. A looter cares about what is the most valuable to return the most amount of worth with the least amount of effort. An example would be during the time of the plague, the goods from the deceased were often rounded up and sold again as second hand items, making owning a sword far more affordable. However, scavengers take it to a different extreme. Everything is of value and if someone doesn’t own it, they will take it. If they cannot use it immediately, they might hang on to it for a while. They are not hoarders, they are compulsive junkyard dealers.

In addition to all of the above, I am sorta retroactively taking Magical Concept Illusion (shadow) and giving it to the Wispi since the Wisps and Continent Clouds had it already. With all of those other costs, it should total 17 AP which should bring me to either 0 or 1 depending on how many people we have in the pantheon.

Yeah pretty much. Once you have hit legendary, there really isnt much higher to go. To be honest, if you have a legendary collossal titan and a legendary tiny fae, as far as capabilities, stats, and competitiveness goes, they are completely equal. A hero would be your best bet... speaking of which, I plan on spicing things up a bit by creating concepts that the races must EARN rather than simply get by proxy of being your creation. As such I need heroes to go and quest for them. IF ya want, we can see about throwing in a hero or two in some quest for knowledge and power.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

Alright, here is the list again with the one change in cost for magic illusion. With the cost being 17, I know I can barely afford it thanks to being in a pantheon... I just dont remember if we are getting 1 AP or 2 AP yet. Either way, I will be posting and locking these in. I am plenty happy with sharing and trading some of these. Just let me know which ones and I can give your race a "blessing" in the form of gypsies~! Among them will be Lore Keepers with the knowledge of the concepts that you seek, and being gypsies themselves, they are okay with taking IOUs!

Shadowstuff is its own tricky concept. Technically, it was created when the Nexus of Shadow was created along with the Legendary Concept of Shadow Magic. I could make it magical concept, but the fact is, it already exists. There would be no Nexus of Shadow OR Shadow Magic without it. Using any of the schools of Shadow Magic could not be done without it either.

However, I can agree that the ability to USE the Shadowstuff in NON-magical ways could qualify as a magical concept.

That will drive up costs but I totally forgot that being a part of a pantheon gave me a few more points to use. so I can still afford it I think.

@Alliandra: what concepts are you looking for? I am trying to go for the Symbiosis Domain so I am trying to link my concepts with that.

@Baxtra: Sure, I have no problem with you using it. Can I use your Trap concept to alchemize something later on? When I have the points again...

Muthadh looks up to the sky through the shadowy continent shades. With all of the extra light being given to this world, the shades were growing quickly as they absorbed their multiple energies to fuel itself... consequently, the life on the islands was growing quickly as well. He expected it to take much longer to fully terraform the lands than it is doing on its own thanks to the multiple celestial objects in the heavens, all affecting Anya in their own ways.

The Wisps have been troubled by this change in events... the air is... thicker now. Flying about is not as easy as it once was... and they get weird spore gunk stuck in their gas bodies! Eww! They migrate quickly to the Isles that have yet to be affected by the shades... but they cant run forever. When finally all of the Islands are under his sway, he releases another curse, this time on the Wisps. They would shudder as they are given a more definite form. Bodies complete with physical systems and physical needs for those systems.

This resulted in alot of chaos among the newly created Wispi... they were confused... some scared and others angry... they needed direction and in response, Muthadh gave them guidance... he gives them a blessing. He guides them with bright stars to the central places of each island. There to discover tablets made of dark stone that emit a soft glow in the darkness or dim it in greater light but shaped as if grown from the soil like trees. These tablets contain the knowledge that they needed to kick start their new lives... basic knowledge on how to survive, on how to build homes and tools, on how to secure a better future... all while leaving out morals, emotions, culture, and politics... leaving all of that for them to decide on their own.

Action: Blessing:
Muthahd blesses the Wispi with knowledge. By giving them the "Trees of knowledge" they have knoweldge of who he is and what he has done for them, as well as given them all of the basic knowledge that any created race would automatically have before you give them additional concepts (as detailed in create life). Cost: Free due to Elemental Mastery.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

@Baxtra: cool thanks. I will deal with that later then, after you introduce it.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

@Baxtra: You go ahead and take it. As it is, all I can do at the moment is buy and then sit on these concepts. I cant use them really until the Wisps are transformed.

Is alchemy taken? It is another one I am planning on taking... and its theme of combining stuff fits the Symbiosis theme I am trying to build to.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

@Alliandra: Below are a few ideas that I will be spending points on fairly soon. They will need a bit tweaking before I will post them officially but you can get the idea from these rough drafts.

Ultimately, I am trying to go for the Symbiosis Domain if I can. Symbiosis is a term used nowadays for a slightly more specific set of relationships between creatures but it used to be far more generalized and would be used as an umbrella term to describe all relationships = be it for people or otherwise. Symbiosis includes Mutualism (beneficial for both) Parasitism (beneficial to one, harmful to the other), and Commensalism (benefits one but doesn't harm or help the other). I plan on trying to play with those themes in the future but most of the ideas I want to use require that they have some kind of interaction with another creature.

@Alliandra: Also, I have yet to figure out a name for the insect creatures you gave me but I did come up with an idea to "alchemize" them with your Lliedesine to "create" a new race. I am trying to avoid simply creating new races out of no where (I kinda don't have a choice for creating planes or stars though). I want their origins to come from already existing sources if I can. I... also haven't figured out a name for this race idea either... but I do know that they will be kinda the opposite of the Wispi in that they are not very magical but rather very grounded and logical. They are insect like with a pseudo - hive mind mentality and a knack for manufacture and sciences.

Create magical concept:

Curse Magic (shadow)::
Curse magic involves debilitating magics that have long term effects. They usually do not have immediate effects and even those that do physical damage do so slowly. For instance, the burning curse makes the targets skin blister and their blood boil slowly. Over the course of minutes, the target would slowly cook alive. Another example would be the distraction curse. This curse only takes effect when moments of great concentration are needed. When they try to concentrate, they will cough, sneeze, hiccup, shiver, or some other distracting function will occur to try and break the target’s concentration. The (shadow) descriptor requires shadow magic to be used.

Create Magical Concept:

Symbiotic magic (shadow)::
Symbiosis magic is magic that is added to the target to benefit the target. Unlike curse magic which is always at the detriment of the target, symbiosis magic is long term magic that benefits the target at the cost of some resource. This resource could be as trivial as a bit of body heat (say to fuel a flaming cloak) or as vital as life energy (to fuel resistance to death magics perhaps). All symbiosis magic has some personal cost to the target – not the caster though the caster and target can be one and the same. The (shadow) descriptor requires shadow magic to be used.

Alchemize concept:

Parasitic Magic (shadow)::
A combination of symbiosis and curse magics, this school of magic curses a target to provide the fuel for a magical effect. With this school of magic, you could curse a nearby target and then use that targets energy to fuel your spells. Unlike the other two schools of magic, parasitic magic is less about finding new ways to manipulate magic and more about finding ways to make it more efficient, affect more targets as sources, or pull energy from greater distances.

Create advanced concept:

Trap building::
Trap building supports both simple traps used to slow down enemies or catch game, to the deadly complex traps meant to collapse entire tunnels, fire spring loaded arrows, or even launch (al)chemical weapons. Building a trap is similar to building any other machine – be it simple or not – but instead of building a machine with an immediate effect, you are typically building one with a triggered or timed effect. Building a machine to immediately start pumping water out of your basement when it floods is a good thing. Building a trap to flood the entire room immediately upon being built is a very bad thing. Autonomy and control are both very important aspects of any trap. If you need someone close by to trigger the trap, then you don’t have to worry about trigger plates or trip wires but you do require a living and breathing component. If you have a trap that springs when anyone steps on a plate, then it is easier to bypass if the plate is known or easily spotted but you do not need a person to guard the location 24/7. Trap planning is far more important than trap building and some find that an improperly placed trap is about as useful as building a wall that doesn't encase anything. The trap is still there and it will likely still function, but it’s not protecting anything while there.

Mundane concept:

scavenge::
the race is able to scavenge equipment and food from other creatures and make use of it. Unless they understand how the equipment works, they can only use it in the most basic ways. A bow scavenged off of a dead archer – for example - would likely be used as a bludgeon weapon, a walking stick, or some other crude and inconsequential tool.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

@Baxtra: I can understand that. Keep in mind that you technically can do whatever you want, there are just consequences of your actions. If you want to mess around with stuff that belongs to another deity's domain, you can totally do that, they will just be aware of it. Depending on the deity they might be pissed off or they might not care. They might even approve of it. It all depends on the deity in question. If you over step your bounds, the same thing applies. If the deity in question does not approve of your actions, they can try and stop you with deity combat (which is the only method of forcing another deity to do anything currently). That being said, how much of an illusion the unpredictable nature of your deity will be is entirely up to you. The more discussion we have about it, the more we will have to put on that mask of illusion when dealing with your deity. We will have to pretend no discussion ever occurred, as if your actions were in fact truly unpredictable. There is a balance I think but you will have to find that balance because I havn't the faintest clue what that would be like.

@Alliandra: I would love to do some advanced concept trading though I dont have much to trade at the moment! I can develop a few once I iron out their details. I am a detail orientated guy and if I cannot describe the concept I am bringing forth then I cannot reasonably use it.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

@Baxtra: Though I have claimed all of Ohren's creatures and his land, I have not taken Ohren's place as the god of air and wind. I am thinking on it and I have a few things pushing me towards the Air domain but honestly its only because I adopted (stole) most of Ohren's stuff.

So if you want to create weather patterns during your month, then go right ahead. I dont mind. Heh not like I can stop you from doing it if you really wanted to. Thanks for asking me about it though.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

Im good with you having Non-metal armors Baxtra. I found out not too long ago (when I was creating Muthadh's physical appearence actually) that Chitin is not simply what insect armored exoskeletons are made of but also that of many fruiting fungi. Chitin, as it turns out, is the term used for "a long-chain polymer of N-acetylglucamine" and is the main component of cells walls for fungi, exoskeletons for arthropods (crabs, lobsters, etc) and insects (among a bunch of other things). So most protections that my folks will use will be natural protections that you grow or conjure through innate ability like chitin natural armor or conjuring a windy forcefield respectively.

Alliandra, I might have need of natural weapon combat since the Male Wispi do not typically make use of manufactured weapons. Thankfully, the suite of Actions I paid for a couple of weeks ago has been mostly replenished so I could buy it now but I don't foresee having need of it until at least the Wisps are transformed. Let me know when you are grabbing it and with your permission, I would like to grab it at the same time.

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

Alright folks, PMing with another player and the topic of the month names came up again. I had completely forgotten about this.

I thought for a bit and came up with "Shadeverda" (Shah-deh-ver-duh) and that its placement would be sometime around the final season and the first season. Since Alliandra is calling for it, I leave the ultimate choice up to her. If anyone has any ideas and preferences, I suggest bouncing them off of the discussion thread. We might be able to get something going!

Masculine but otherwise genderless God Lesser

As he left his curse to do its work, he looked up to the heavens. His mother had created a great wonder but the positive energy flowing from it was great even if its effects were small. He felt much of its energy was being wasted but he knew that if he could collect it, then he could recycle it. He thought long and hard about it. A moon was big and massive and would make a large pot to collect the energy but like holding a pot to a waterfall, you are not going to get everything and you are more likely to drop the pot before it’s full. Another giant star perhaps? This one as large as or larger than its bright sister but much dimmer, like a dark twin gobbling up all of its sibling’s energy. That would work but if it was too powerful, it would completely negate his mother’s creation and he would not have that. Perhaps smaller… and more spread out. Like a giant net spread out in all directions. That could work and it would be relatively weaker spread out than if it were clumped together.

He conjured a globe of shadowstuff and manipulated it into a facsimile of the planet, its moons and its star. He played around with some ideas but eventually settled on one. He would deposit a few giant spores into the void. Their sole job being to absorb energy. Not just from the radiation of the star but any other radiation or even matter that strayed close enough and transporting it to the Nexus of Shadow where it can be transmuted into shadowstuff. As he placed them there in his little model, he focused his power to create them in the void above. Dark spheroids that loomed over all with a dim shadowy glow when compared to the total darkness around them. Then as they absorbed energy, they began to glow brighter as the energy glowed brightest as it was concentrated around the dark spores. He was pleased with how they worked. He could already feel the Nexus growing with waste energy, ready to be transmuted.

Looking at it though, he realized that a few spores was too little. The net was big enough, it certainly covered the entire sky but the threads were too far spread. He needed the net to be much tighter. He poked his dark orbs and they exploded with shadow energy, spreading out in all directions before coalescing into much smaller spheres – like little pinpoints in the sky. The first few yielded dozens. Then thousands, then finally tens of thousands could be seen in the sky. Each one twinkling with the riotous energy that they were collecting and transporting into the Nexus. The random explosions sent the balls of darkness scattering into random patterns. His original and logical pattern made to be as efficient as possible was now a great but beautiful mess. Only two of the original spores remained. The largest by far, these sparkled like great jewels. Portals so large that each could swallow the planet whole and send it screaming into the Nexus of Shadow. Those he moved furthest away to protect the others but not so far that he could not then secure them as the link between all others that would revolve around it. As the pinpoints in the sky moved slowly over the years, they would alone be the one points that remained stationary. At least until necessity decreed they should move as well.

These stars are made entirely of Shadowstuff. As I mentioned in the description of the Nexus of Shadow, Shadowstuff is a type of magical pseudo-matter that has no weight in gravity wells but attracts things to it when outside of them. Like a weightless magnet if you will. It is this property he is taking advantage of but using it to attract the waste energy that I mentioned is what shadowstuff is primarily made of.

They are about as large as an asteroid but their attractive force is great enough to collect energy and matter in a vast distance. That is why they are visible as twinkling lights. That is why they are visible at all! Of course they are the brightest where there are no competing light sources in the sky. A bright moon is enough to obscure many of the stars around it while the sun makes them completely fade away from sight. They basically act as stars do in our own night sky. The one exception is actually two. The two stars that are the largest are far enough away that their light is only slightly greater than the others. These stars are planet sized (but of course are merely portals – trying to stand on one merely transports you to the Nexus of Shadow along with all of the energy it was sucking up at the time; you are afforded no protections from that energy) and large enough that on completely dark nights (no bright moons) that you can actually see the soft dim glowing centers with the aid of a tool like a telescope or even a simple spyglass.

Like the Nexus of Shadow, the positioning of these stars is like being positioned on the inside of a sphere. Looking out you can see them encompassing the entire sky, curving gently inward they appear to be equally distant in all directions though their actual positions are indeed random and can be further or closer. Like a slowly rotating disco ball, the stars will revolve around the current center of this universe. However, since we are not entirely sure if gravity is a thing here OR that Anya is the center of it (or even Aroha), these stars revolve around the two large pairs. They are static but linked to the others, their gentle spin gives the others motion.

The giant stars are fixed at exactly the north and south poles of Aroha (the sun) since the original intent of the stars was to act as a kind of net for the energy Aroha produced. As such, anyone can use the north and south stars to find their relative position but if you were to go to the actual poles of the planet, you would find the position of the stars is slightly offset by barely a few degrees.

Should Aroha ever be destroyed or completely obscured, and the energy it produces be cut off, the stars will no longer collect energy and they will dim noticeably but they will still give off faint light since shadowstuff gives off light in total darkness.

I like that term:"Aspects" sounds like a good replacement for portfolio. I second this.

I think 2 to 3 aspects max OR as Moshado suggested, 1 plus 1 as you gain ranks. I would change that a bit though to the base being 2 (1 plus your fledgling rank) which could then increase again with more ranks. Ultimately, aspects are more for flavor but if a limiting factor should be put in, it should not be too restrictive.

Muthadh flexes in the warm glow of the new sun. Parts of him wither in the positive energy's embrace while other parts grow stronger. The mixture of both of his parent's energies within him clash in the sun's glow. He summons a cloak of shadow - his form becoming dimmer than before. Despite the harmful nature of the glow, he still smiles at his mother's creation. He will grow a fist sized spore pod in his hand. Enveloping it in shadow and imbuing it with his shadowstuff, he takes aim and launches it into the sky at his mother. Then turning back to work on his plan.

He flies under the largest and most central of the Islands and looks at the slumbering Continent Clouds. As they are now, they are not useful to his plan of transformation. He will focus his energy and infect the continent cloud with a slow acting but contagious curse that will slowly warp their being using shadow magic.

Curse: Warping Continent Clouds with a contagious curse using shadow magics. 0 AP due to elemental mastery.

The continent cloud begins to fall lower as its energy is sapped by the curse, the first time that one of the isles ever dipped below its incredibly high perch in the sky. As the curse ran its course, the cloud is spasming with electrical energy. Electrical arcs sometimes shock neighbor clouds, spreading the curse to them. Over the course of months or even years, the curse will eventually spread through out the isles.

The spore traveling at break neck speeds and protected by its shadowy shroud, will quickly reach Alliandra before exploding in a dark riot of energy. The spore will burst and release not a weapon but a message that speaks to the Great Mother,"Mother, your creation is beautiful. I love its radiance and color. It's warmth is wonderful. Forgive me but I am still working but I do enjoy your visits."

Yeah I know what you mean Veldrin. It can be a slick slope if you are not careful. On one hand if you are too restrictive, then portfolios become pointless but on the other they become... pointless. If you have too many or too little then there ends up little point in having them. We need that good ol middle ground!

I find it interesting that you define "Mind" as a "relay" or "interface" between physical and mental. By that notion, if you remove the mind, both physical and mental still exist but they are simply unable to communicate with each other. I would be very careful with that as I have yet to create any being that is capable of emotional experience or intellectual thought that can do so without a physical mind.

The confusion I think is stemming from your more abstract view of mind, thought and emotion, while my views are more concrete and physical. For instance, by your definition, emotion is created as an expression to outside stimuli:

Baxtra wrote:
Emotion which is the biochemical and mental reaction to external stimuli.

This would suggest that emotion cannot be garnered from internal sources. Thinking about a happy memory should not produce a happy emotion until that memory is placed in an outside source - like a writing or painting - at least according to that quote.

However, if you allow for emotion to be sourced from internal stimuli, then you will find emotion and thought are far more interconnected than before. Thought and emotion cannot be as easily separated. Every thought has some kind of emotional context to it. That is why we as people have such a hard time with personal bias. Thoughts meanwhile can be generated based purely on emotional context. Telling someone to "think happy" will often require them to conjure up an image - real or false - of what they would then perceive as a "happy thought." For instance, remembering your wedding day is one grounded in reality (despite how horribly you remember it) while imagining your parents-in-law dying in a car crash and gifting you their inheritance is grounded in fantasy (no matter how much you want it to happen) but both images can produce the same emotional response.

Again this may be simply a difference between an abstract interpretation and a concrete one. One thing I would like to point out is that I rather enjoy your abstract definition. It separates the mind, thought and emotions in a way to almost make them separate entities that simply share the same spacial existence.

Now on to the part about domains... I am merely advising that you keep domains simple and broad. Not too broad mind you. The "matter domain" would be a bit much but so would the "house cat domain." You need to find a balance between having a few broad domains and a bunch of specific sub-domains. For instance, you point out that unity, family, and community are all associations. That is precisely why they should be sub-domains, because they are all a subset of associations. The Association domain is a perfect domain as it broadly covers everything it is associated with while not imparting any specialized dominance over them. You could probably afford the Association domain right now in fact. Now, I would highly recommend ignoring everything I just said if you actually do what that specific dominance. It will be harder to work up to but being more specific, your dominance would be stronger over it... even though as it is written in the rules as of right now, buying a sub-domain over a regular domain actually makes you weaker, not stronger, as it forces your perception into a more narrow space but doesn't actually heighten your perceptive acuity... just something to keep in mind.

This could also be a misinterpretation of how domains are selected. When I first started, my perception of domains were that you selected a domain and then denoted a portfolio in parenthesis (if you so wished). For instance, I chose Darkness (night) to signify that I was picking the darkness domain but was more focused on the physical darkness - I.E. lack of light - rather than the abstract darkness - I.E. dread or doom.

If this is in error, please let me know so that I may correct my domains (portfolios)!
