Male Human Parry: 6, Toughness 5
Moses walks up to Borak and offers him a hand. "Thank you, sir. I know zee others are intimidated by your use of magic, but it doesn't bother me much. Among my people, magic is not uncommon, aldough it is quite a bit more zubtle and used to help us in our chores. I know it will most likely not be in your nature to do so, but you might try to meet zee uninitiated among us halfway. We can't vork together as a team if we don't trust one another, and zose boys certainly don't trust you right now. You are headed for a knife or bullet to ze back of ze head vhile you are sleeping. Zis magic scares zem, and if its one thing cowhands don't like being reminded of is that zey can be afeared."
Male Human Parry: 6, Toughness 5
GM, are any of the other cows being threatened by the spider swarm? Are the rest of us, or are we too far away? If the cows are threatened, Moses will try to move them away, but like most days nobody listens to him. Persuasion?: 1d8 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 3 If no one is being threatened, Moses loudly agrees with Rufus and tells everyone to move out of range.

Moses nods to Rodan. "I think that would be good and would be happy to join you. Thank you for the invitation. Yes, I have heard the same thing about indians but didn't want to presumet too much." Once he is settled with his food he continues speaking with Rodan. "So what brings you out to these wild parts?"

Moses Hirschler continues tending to his own aches and offers to help anyone else who might be feeling a bit "broken in" themselves. That evening, if people gather around the fire, he will regale them with stories of his humble upbringings in rural Pennsylvania, focusing on the humerous adventures of "Young Ruprecht on his Rumspringa".
Male Human Parry: 6, Toughness 5
Moses looks in from around the edge of the door and sees Borak work his miracle, smiling slightly when he sees the wound close up. Nodding to himself, he turns around and heads back to the corall, and tries his hand at taming one of the gentler horses. Ride and Wild: 1d4 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 4
Male Human Parry: 6, Toughness 5
Moses worries what they will do to Borak, and stays only momentarily to calm Rodan. "Magic is a part of God's creation, Mr. Northvard. No one knows vere it comes from, but I haff seen it uzed both for good and ill. It is not magic itself zat is evil, but ze use it is put to, you see?" Having said that, Moses was more than a little disturbed by Borak's display, and hurried on to make sure the man was not abused by the cowhands.
Male Human Parry: 6, Toughness 5
Having seen magic first hand and knowing that it does not come from the devil ... necissarily ... Moses runs forward with his arms up in a gesture of calm. "Hey now, good people, let's not rush to our guns quite so quickly! I have seen magic done in my day and know that it is not from the devil, but a part of God's creation like everything else. Borak may be a bit unusual, but there's no need to rush for the lynching rope!" Persuasion on the spooked cowhands: 1d8 ⇒ 51d6 ⇒ 5, that's a success! He turns briefly to see what Borak is doing, throwing him an expression that seems to say: "Let's try to keep this from getting out of hand, okay?"

Moses nods at the foreman's selection, "Right you have it, boss" as he goes about his work. Judging from his actions, it is clear that this is not Moses' first time slaughtering animals. It's bloody work, but he knows it has to be done. As they are going about their work, Moses largely keeps quiet, but tries to get a sense of Flying Eagle and what kind of man he might be. Notice + Wild: 1d4 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 1

Moses waits in line patiently, singing a slow hymn to himself under his breath. When he is given his food, he thanks the cook and finds a seat anywhere where there's shade. He finds himself walking up to a tall black man with a trusting face, who seems to be sitting by himself under a slender young tree. Moses takes off his hat and politely inquires of him: "Excuse me sir, iz zis bit of terf next to you taken?" The man is a bit surprised to be addressed so directly, and looks like no one has talked to him in a while. "Yes, you're free to sit anywhere you like. My name is Antonio Bowlingreen, pleased to make your acquaintance." he says, scooting over to make room for the new arrival. Moses bows slightly. "Moses Hirschler at your zervice, originally from Pennsylvania. Vere might you call home, Mr. Bowlingreen?" "Kentucky," Antonio replies, "but I wouldn't exactly call it home. Not anymore at least." His face falls as he says this and he goes back to eating his dinner.

Moses gladly accepts the offered horse, as he had sold his last one to pay off an old lady's gambling debt here in town. He then nods politely to the men and woman as they are intruduced. "Guten afternoon. Moses Hirschler at your service. I hope our little expedition vill go vell." After Borak offers his bizarre conclusions, he turns to the man as he is getting his horse ready. "Borak, how vould you suggest vee stand against illusion? Ze devil iz ze tempter and ze lord of illusion after all, no?" Moses will then get the rest of his belongings from the flop house he had been staying in and buy a few more items he might require for the journey. What will the Trade skill be used for, GM?
Male Human Parry: 6, Toughness 5
Moses nods to Bill. "Yes, I haff been hearing of ze railroad and zey are bad for business. Better to drive dese cattle unt get an honest price. You offer honest vork for honest pay. I can believe in zat!" He then gives the rancher a big thumbs up. Its pretty clear that Moses has a pretty strong accent; German, you would guess.

Rodan, SW is unlike D&D or PF in that your skills are unlinked from your attributes when you are rolling the skill. When you make a Persuasion check you just roll your skill plus the 1d6 Wild Die, but you don't add them up. You just see what you rolled and anything 4 or above is a success, unless the GM has set the Target Number higher.

Common Knowledge:
1d4 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 4, that's a success Moses moves into the bar alongside Rodan Northward and listens to the man give his pitch about work. Well, this would certainly beat preaching to the one or two people who show up every week. He raises his hand when the ranch owner is finished. "I would take you up on your offer, Mr. Sutter. I have some experience with cattle and don't mind sleeping rough for a while."

Moses stares at the newcomer, listening to his bizarre speech. He believes him to either be drunk or insane from the heat. He's certainly seen people raving all sorts of things when they are in that condition. When he seems to be finished, he replies: "Greetings, stranger. The news is that there is no news; other than your arrival and that of this fine gentleman here. The saloon behind me serves all manner of beverage. How long has it been since your last one?"

Moses shakes his hand and makes a quick bow. "Moses Hirschler, glad to meet you Mr. Northward. I preach the word of the Lord on Sundays under the big tree if you are interested. He tests us all in a place like this, but he also provides comfort." "As for a hotel, well ..." and he takes off his hat and wipes his face with a large hankerchief, "... there is no hotel, but there is a boarding house, over there." He points to a larger single-story structure painted a peeling light blue before leaning in closer to the other man and whispering: "Just be prepared to make some new friends if you stay there, and I don't mean the two-legged kind."

Moses Hirschler has been living in Sutter's Flats for about six months, working odd jobs during the day and trying to preach to the local populace in the evenings and on days when no one is hiring. He's had some luck tending to the spiritual needs of the locals, but has recently run into some trouble with a local bully, with whom he does not see eye to eye. Yesterday he had helped a local rancher with one of his heifers who was having a difficult birth, but today no one called on the friendly Amish man, so he is perched on a stool in front of the saloon taking occasional sips from a flask of water and whittling some kind of figurine. His wide-brimmed straw hat is pulled down to protect him from the sun. He nods to Rufus as he enters the saloon and whistles in admiration when Rodan ties up his mare/mustang, pushing his hat back on his head as he stands up and casually approaches. "Zis iz a very fine animal you have zere, Mister. A quwaterhorse, yes? Vee don't get many animals of zat caliber here in Sutter's Flats," he states in admiration with a strong German accent.
