The door to the bar opens and a dirty, dust-caked human enters the bar.

Are you a rat-man, or a human?

As recognition registers in Mors' eyes, his eyebrows raise up. "I trust you are here just for wine, and not more trouble, today?"

At Keane's barely-understandable roar for mor ale, Mors pours another mug of stout dwarven brew.

RP Only

Mors nods, pouring libations for the two newcomers.

"As you like, gents. Welcome to Limbo."

RP Only

What the heck? I go away for a bit, and the debauchery breaks out? Anybody still drinking in the bar?"

RP Only

Okay, here is my cleric's profile.

His name is Maenír - I'll be posting with him from here on out.

HP roll for level 2: 1d8 ⇒ 5

RP Only

Gotcha. I guess Cure Light Wounds was a bad example.

I'm assuming that if I want to use a non-healing spell multiple times, I need to prepare it multiple times.

For instance, if we are traveling across the desert, and I want to use Create Water three times, I would need to use all my level 1 slots for that spell?

RP Only

I was planning for cleric. I must not be on the same page.

RP Only

Question for Nazard:
How do you run prepared spells? If I want to heal twice, do I need to choose 'Cure Light Wounds' for both of my Level 1 spell slots?

RP Only

That sounds great - I'll roll up a healer, then! I should something later today, or tomorrow.

RP Only

Hey, Biter told me you might be looking for more players. Still true? I have a ranger I can adapt for the cause.

"I do believe it’s getting drunk."

"Biter!"

Just curious - why a separate thread? Anyone for moving all of this back to the main thread? (Unless a fight breaks out, in which case, lets get a-brawlin')

Mors nods tentative approval, then surreptitiously casts Detect Magic towards the gnome and his strange contraptions once Bitiborium turns away.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Stealth (to avoid attention/detection): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

1 person marked this as a favorite.
RP Only

Perturbed by the imposition of the gnome and his... wares, Mors casts a disdainful eye across offensive contraption.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Continuing in Bitiborium's thread.

RP Only

With a shake of his head, Mors sets about cleaning up the place. With the help of his Unseen Servant, Lureen, and a rather large serpent (of all things!) the work goes rather quickly.

"Four dead in one day. Not exactly the best endorsement. Still, we didn't lose any more patrons, so there's that. Thank you, everyone, for your valiant work in defending Lureene. I've enough trouble around here without adding kidnapping and arson to the menu."

I'm assuming my 20 perception was enough to get a glimpse under his hood.

"What exactly is his kind, Lureene? He seemed to be some kind of..." he glimpses at Gyldyr "well, some sort of rat-man. Very disturbing."

RP Only

Mors peers into Feldus' hood, trying to get a better look at his face. It would be prudent to be able to identify him in the future - provided the odorous man leaves alive.

Perception roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 vs. a disguise roll from Feldus

"I most certainly do not," Mors says, defiantly. “I am offering you a chance to avoid conflict. It would appear that this is of no interest to you.”

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Everyone who plans to fight, please roll initiative.

RP Only

Mors walks over to Feldus, and addresses him. His voice takes on a strange vibrance – almost a recitation of grand performance.

Barding Performance: Oratory | Mors casts Hypnotism DC15 (Feldus' Will save takes -2 for out of combat, single target) on Feldus. Assuming I succeed, I think we get a short conversation out of the round.

“Your appearance tonight seems to have caused quite a stir. I'm afraid that violence might break out – perhaps it would be safer for you to make a tactful exit, before someone does something rash?”

source:
While the subject is fascinated by this spell, it reacts as though it were two steps more friendly in attitude. This allows you to make a single request of the affected creature (provided you can communicate with it). The request must be brief and reasonable. Even after the spell ends, the creature retains its new attitude toward you, but only with respect to that particular request.

Is Feldus still in his room? Perception check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

RP Only

"Good Lord! It's started!" cries Mors, upon hearing the wailing from downstairs.

"The pungent thin man has gone mad, and begun slaughtering my patrons! Oh, their screams are terrible! We must stop him!"

With that, Mors runs out of the room, and down the stairs to confront what must certainly be a grisly scene.

Not sure who that last was directed at - Mors would certainly never suggest something like that.

This may seem like a silly/stupid question for such an environment, but I was wondering:

You said level cap 2 - okay, but what other guidelines should be followed for character creation:

Point buy? If so, how much? If not? What is the rolling method (3d6 in order, 4d6 drop lowest arrange to taste...)?

What rules sets are available: Pathfinder only? Pathfinder and 3.5?

If I'm taking this too seriously, just say, "DUDE! Make a freakin' character and show up!"

:)

There are no hardline rules, since it's mostly RP, but rolls and combat can come into play, so a good guildline is Level 2 characters with 25 point buy. Some people are using background traits, some people aren't. It appears to be mostly Pathfinder, but we have some 3.5 and even 4.0 people. I'd recommend Pathfinder, just to make it easier to interact with others.

You don't have to fight, or even roll, some people just interact through dialogue.

That being said, I would add this: "DUDE! Make a freakin' character and show up!"

"I am not saying destroy the door, but force him to leave the bar, then shift the door away from the current plane, so he no longer has access to the bar. Is that possible, Mors?"

"They cannot be 'moved' per se, and the only way to safely disable it is from the point of it's creation - on the other side of the portal. With so many ways back, I doubt it would solve your dilemma anyway.

Surely there is some diplomatic solution we can pursue..."

Knowledge, Arcana DC 18:
Limbo is the original source of the portal system, but each destination must be created at the physical location. Through magical means, the other end of the portal is 'planted,' and a connection between the two is created. The only way to safely adjust this connection without affecting the entire network, is from the destination point. Specific destinations can be targeted only from the origin portal (Limbo), by 'opening' the path through the use of spellcraft.

“What did you have in mind, Lureene? I will not see you come to harm, but he's done nothing yet. He has been acting quite suspicious, however.”

Embarrasingly low perception check:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Mors enters the room, surprised to see Amber and Biter. A passing glance at the goblin reveals a slight glaze in his red eyes.

Mors collects the pile of weapons, and brings them to Arryn's table.
