Looks like I had not changed the character sheet on here for 5th level. I took Craft Weapons and Armor so I am able to make Wonderous Items, Scrolls and Magic Weapons and Armor. The spells taken were fireball and shrink item.

I came into this shard with 975 gp of Etherium.

My understanding of crafting is that he CL of the item doesn't matter in it's crafting. The only time it does is if the item requires a caster of a certain level such as weapons and armor needing a caster level of 3 times the enhancement bonus of the item. Any arms or armor would have to be of masterwork quality.

Milton spends a day or two settling in to his new surroundings. He checks in with the various people in with Tel Beys and let's her know of his talents with paper, pen, cloth and leather as well as his ability to make magic items, arms and armor if giving items of suitable quality.

His first priority is to make a Bookmark of Deception for Talschornvox as a thank you gift for saving him. When completed he will ask Alden for directions to her place to give it to her.

Craft: Calligraphy: 1d20 + 13 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 13 + 5 = 37

Spellcraft: DC 20: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26 +5 of Crafter's Fortune applies.

He will spend the rest of his time making any masterwork arms or armor magical.

I was going to take Craft Wand and Arcane Builder: Wonderous Item but maybe Craft Magical Arms and Armor is more important. What do you all think?

Arcane Builder: You have an exceptional understanding of the theory behind creating magical items. Select one type of magic item (potions, wondrous items, and so on). You create items of this type 25% faster than normal, and gain a +4 bonus on Spellcraft checks (or other checks, as appropriate) to craft items of this type. You may select this discovery multiple times; its effects do not stack. Each time you select this discovery, it applies to a different type of magic item.

My spells will be Fireball and I'm not sure. :) I generally like an evocation and something helpful, Like scorching ray and make whole. Any suggestions?

I plan on making a Bookmark of Deception as a gift. I was originally going to make a Purse of Holding but I don't have the caster level to make even the smallest bag of holding. A Bookmark goes with his bookmaking and writing abilities.

Anyone have any suggestions or requests?

Milton shakes his head "Other than our personal belongings anything worth anything is long gone. What exactly is the agreement with her? I am also working on a gift for saving my life. It's only polite."

Milton puts his arm around Lars' shoulders, sighs tiredly, and says "Let's gather the other's and whatever we can salvage from here. I'm sure whatever we bring with us will help in our new home." He then begins the walk back to the few remaining residents when a thought occurs to him, "Do you have any children in your village?"

Now the question I hate to ask, do the ants need wiped out to merge again?

Milton looks to Lars and nods slowly. He then turns to Talschornvox "Any leaders in the town are long gone. We have a few people inside the ring of fire and that is it. I think this town is a lost cause and if you would be so kind as to permit it, we would be happy to escort them through your forest. If not we will have to go the long way. These survivors have been through so much already." He then pauses and waits for her response.

Is there a mayor elder etc among those left alive? Who was leading the survivors? Just trying to see if anyone in authority is left.

Milton manages to catch a glimpse of the dragon as it comes down and transforms. Wary of a green dragon he tries to remember what he knows of them. When he finishes stamping off the remaining ants he turns towards her and says "Thank you Lady Talschornvox. That gives us a break until more arrive. There is a whole hill of them off that way." He then points to toward their home. "My name is Milton McMurray. Please to meet all of you." He then heads over to Lars and asks "How are they? We have lost so many already."

Milton moves out of the swarm and tries to remember what he knows about the defenses of the swarms and ants. He then pulls out a scroll of burning hands.

Milton moves up to where he can see the ants clearly, he can't do anything about the swarms with others in them. He then conjures a ray of frost and aims at the ant.

Milton yells out "Lars! Looks like we got some help from the other shard. We are going to get surrounded if we don't pull back some or kill them!"

He then unleashes a wave of fire at the ant and swram near him and then moves back.

Milton joins the others searching for a way out through the water, secretly relieved he isn't going to be trying to cast their way up that shaft.

Milton hands the gem to Honelyln and says "That is a good idea if we can communicate with it. I could try using some of my master's spells to see if we can get up to the trapdoor. I have seen him make rope's climb and use force spells to move or hit things. I am just not very good with those."

Milton picks up the wand and stores it. He then looks at the group "Would someone like to carry the gem. If you break it it will summon an earth elemental. I think we should each pick up a couple bags of gold and the split the bags of gems. I don't know that we can take the silver or copper."

Milton looks embarrassed and says "Oopss. The Master makes that look so easy."

Getting onto dry land and seeing the chest Milton beams with excitement. He frowns at the lock but suddenly his face lights up, "I know! The master has done this." He rifles through his master's spellbook and makes some gestures and says some phrases no one understands and then points at the lock.

Milton approaches the sea caves to see if he can see out of any of them, or hear birds outside. He says "Let's see if we can figure out which of these leads out before we start swimming. Best to leave while the tide is on the way out."

Milton thinks for a moment and says "It's been about a week since you went out to your brother's boat. We visited as well and have been on his trail since. First order of business is to find a way out of here. We may have to swim. Let's check this area for exits and if we find none we will have to go back to the other room."

Milton lifts the bar and opens the door. He then nods to Lavinia and says "Milton McMurray at your service. I can go into detail about my suspicions if you like. Getting out of here may be difficult though. We haven't found another way out yet. Only the walking dead."

Milton begins moving toward Lavinia's voice. He says "I am not ready to lump you in with your brother. I suspect he is an evil person. I think he killed your parents. I know he slit the throat of the man who brought us here, and dumped his body an the rope ladder down here before closing the door and moving a rock over it."

Milton looks at the group and says "Good job all. We managed to destroy all of them. Now let's go see about that voice." He then starts carefully heading in the direction of the voice with some confidence it seems. Casting three spells the way he wanted seems to have put a pep in his step and some confidence in his voice... for now.

Milton smiles as the creature goes down. He says "It worked once, it should work again." Another bolt of electricity arcs out from his hand toward the creature grappling Svetozar. Again your hair stands on end and Svetozar's teeth vibrate as well.

I would say, holy warrior would count on an undead. Smite evil does extra on an undead the first hit for comparison.

Milton tilts his head to the side, dissatisfied and think. "Too wet. WET! Got it!

He then turns a page in his master's spellbook and begins speaking and making gestures. This time a sizzling bolt of electricty flies out from his hand, as everyone's hair stands on end, and hits the smoldering creature.

Milton reads from the spellbook and waves his free hand and a bolt of fire streaks out of his hand, whistling as it corkscrews into the creature. It impacts and explodes and the creatures sizzles and steam escapes it. If it had been dry you are sure it would have caught on fire.

Milton sees his friends going toward one of the creatures and decides to try and take out another one own his own.

Milton looks at Svetozar and says "The sinister one?" the playful question in his voice. He smile and shrugs "One is a good as the other."

Seeing the danger ahead Milton knows for once he can help. One of the few things he has cast reliably. A bolt of fire streams from his hand toward the creature. He shouts "Take that!"

Correct that we didn't get into gear. I don't really feel like this system wants us to track every single thing you're carrying, but we are playing an AP built for a system that does make that assumption. Going forward, we may want to use backpack tags a bit more.

For now, I leave it to you guys. If anyone was carrying a source of light around with them while they were asking around the city, they would have it now.

Or I can do a little Narrator Fiat solution. :)

Now to light them. I may have to see if I can light one without melting the whole thing at once.

I don't know that we ever really got into gear. I would hope someone brought a lamp or torch, otherwise I will have to try again to make some light.

Milton sighs deeply "I have a bad feeling the one we were trying to save, isn't worth saving. He slit his throat and tossed him down here with us. I think he did kill his parents. Kinda dark. Let's see if I can make some light." He then starts to try casting a spell.

Idea was to make some sort of flame that would give off light.

Milton follows the others down the ladder. Being a city boy this wilderness and undergone exploring is making him uneasy.

Milton looks at Annelise and sighs with a deflated look when she says she isn't going to kill him. He doesn't say anything though.

Milton shakes his head, "Serves you right. You stole from a friend of mine. May you should just take the information out of his hide Annelise. I can cauterize any wounds so he doesn't bleed to death."

Milton listens to Svetozar and suddenly stops walking. "That didn't occur to me before. Is it possible that the oil had anything to do with the Vanderboren ship burning?"

Milton stands in thought for a moment "It seems like we are playing catch up and one thing just strings us along to the next. We have a new name to try and follow up on. Anyone know anything about him?"

Milton nods I'm learn alot about parts of town I knew nothing about.. He says "That sounds like a good idea. Maybe we can offer to let Vanthis know he owes them payment. It might get us more information. We still need to verify the harbormaster's hold on the boat too. Vark may have been lying."

Milton searches the room with the others. He looks questioningly at Svetozar "Vark has nothing to do with this. We got everything out of him on the boat. We should see if we can find any other places Brissa hangs out or lies low in."

After about an hour Milton says "Ok there is nothing going on here. Let's go in and see if anyone is there. If it is a shop it should be open. Someone may want to watch the back door as we go in the front."

Milton thinks for a moment and says "It might be a good idea to look around the studio and watch for a little while, but I don't think we need to for a day."

Milton eats a basic meal and when the all join up he listens intently. He finally says "That sounds like a good idea. See if we can find the artist."
