He's a former member of the Nightscales (Magnimar's main thieves guild), who is disillusioned with criminal life, and is trying to turn his life around. Here's a moment in my Hell's Rebels game where my character decided to hold a funeral service for a dead NPC. It was someone that she'd never met, but it felt wrong to him to not be remembered. She's a Dawnflower Dervish Bard, not a Cleric, but she's a very religious character. She later officiated at funeral for another NPC, and spoke at a third funeral. She is somewhat paladin-like, although she can be rather impulsive. Here she is comforting an NPC on the loss of his mother. And chasing a tooth fairy that just stole two of her teeth.

Battle Medicine healed Pollo 11 HP, which I believe stabilizes him; I don't think you need to spend a Hero Point. EDIT: I think Pollo will have the Wounded 1 condition: I don't think Battle Medicine removes that, even on a critical success. Still, I'm not entirely clear how Death and Dying works in 2e, so I could be wrong.

Once they had retreated to a safe spot, he started work on Pollo's wounds. Milo spent the next morning resting and cleaning his equipment. After the hectic activity of the day before, he was glad for a chance to take it easy. After lunch he restocked his medical supplies; he'd done more field medicine in the last couple of days than in the previous 5 years. He spent some time talking to the locals, to better understand the town. He needed to learn more about who the players were, so he could figure out who might be behind everything that had happened. In the evening he hung out at the Feedmill, and sang a bit. He taught his friends (and some of the locals) some of the tavern songs that were popular in Magnimar.
