I have a Headband +6 and Another Item giving me Int +4
Both have different skills attached to them.
Question is can I wear both Items and get the skills from both items.
I know I only get the +6 once to Int score. But the magic of the other item doesn't shut off. does it still give the skill bonus?

Scarab Sages

I believe A is the answer. from the way the spell reads.

Skull and shackles book 3 there was a Dusk Kamadan in the book, it's actually str in the OGC is 1 point higher, and it's actual Con is also 2 points higher. Was this a typo, and should I use the OGC write up over the book?

Also it's listed as a CR 6, in the OGC it's listed as a CR 5.

I also need to know what level cohort rating it get's. The PC is level 12. And want's to know what it's CR should be for cohort status.

My GM said that because it's a weapon attack, it gets effected.
I disagreed because it is a burst effect.

Scarab Sages

Thank you everyone, A player in our game brought this up and we couldn't find a rule on it. Our Gm was going to allow it but after seeing everyone reply he has realized his failure. He normal uses RAW or we come here to discuss things and get others PoV on the subject.

again thank you.

5 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/metamagic-feats/merciful-spell-metamagic
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/magic-traits/magical-lineage

these two together i'm being told i can do infinite magic missle, or cure light wounds and any other first level spell.

The tell me if the Merciful meta-magic spell is applied then they apply Magical Lineage to it and get infinite number?

Scarab Sages

i thought it was talking about 1 type, not the number of attacks from that one type. But there are four ppl now saying the same thing so I'll except this and move on.

Thank you

Scarab Sages

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/rules-for-monsters/universal-monster-rules #TOC-Natural-Attacks

Scarab Sages

Most creatures possess one or more natural attacks (attacks made without a weapon). These attacks fall into one of two categories, primary and secondary attacks. Primary attacks are made using the creature’s full base attack bonus and add the creature’s full Strength bonus on damage rolls.

Secondary attacks are made using the creature’s base attack bonus –5 and add only 1/2 the creature’s Strength bonus on damage rolls. If a creature has only one natural attack, it is always made using the creature’s full base attack bonus and adds 1-1/2 times the creature’s Strength bonus on damage rolls.
This increase does not apply if the creature has multiple attacks but only takes one. If a creature has only one type of attack, but has multiple attacks per round, that attack is treated as a primary attack, regardless of its type.

So since I only have claw attacks two of them do I get the 1 1/2 str dmg?

Scarab Sages

Base 13 + 5th point, and 10th level point = 15.
Large evo gave it a +4, and I have a belt +2 con = 21

Figured since every so often the eidolon gets points to Str and Dex why not put the extra into Con :)

Scarab Sages

BTW my Con is 12, the eidolon is 21 four points higher then mine.

also want to ask if i get those 40 hp can i use some or all of them to prevent my eidolon from dying?

Scarab Sages

Evan Riggs above is my GM, every time, we disagree we come here to get others points of view. He gave a ruling to me a few weeks ago. If i can get at least a few people to agree with my point of view he'd allow it.

Frankly I think it's the talking it out that really helps us both understand a little better.

I thank everyone that replied.

You get real advantage by staying in wizard. You can load and fire the siege engine without a crew at lvl 10.

The empower ability requires that you sacra ice spells. Since it has to be wizard spells being stuck at lvl 1 would kind of suck for that.

Really the at has lots of reasons to be advanced in. The problem is ensuring you have a siege engine handy.

you can take reloading hands much earlier and it also allows you to hit as if ghost touch and magical weapon http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/r/reloading-hands and after 3rd lvl wizard you no longer need anything from the class and archetype

Scarab Sages

Siege Mage is there any reason I should continue the class out specially when the Archetype gives me everything at 1st lvl?

Also is it possible to take Wizard class again and play a different type while keeping all the benefits of the 1st lvl Siege mage?

So I'd be Wizard 1/Wizard 1 Siege Mage.

I need some form of pathfinder ruling

i am running a game with an Legion Archon in it, as a pc.
the rest of the party is lvl 7.

how does the Legion advance in levels with the party, the rules is confusing me.

2nd question
Synthesist Eidolon
Does it get a base form selection or must the synthesist purchase his starting arms and legs.

if he has to purchase these things then whats the point of being an eidolon synthesist.

because the last line of Fused eidolon, For all other cases use the normal eidolon.

I really need this answered causei have a player refuting every instance of the rules that he doesnt agree with if it isnt written as canon law, Rules as Written.
its beginning to lead to arguments.

Question i have a Azata, Lyrakien http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/outsiders/azata/azata-lyr akien

She has a 14 intel the familiar progression is unclear to me, I'm also a 3rd lvl wiz, 3rd lvl cleric, 4th lvl mystic theurge. I wish to know is the progression a bonus to her stat or is it meant for lesser familiars since they normally start out with a 2 int?

Scarab Sages

I haven't done it, but the rules are there still. and for a epic game i hate the have to resort the epic lvl hand book. it's not even Pathfinder

Scarab Sages

Create Demiplane, Greater
and a Rod of Security so while in the rod you don't age, as 100 plus days go by and you do what ever you need to do. Then you come back to the real world after only 8 hours have passed ...

Scarab Sages

in the core book they already have +1 insight bonus from a Ioun stone to AC it's the Dusty Rose, then you got enhancement bonuses to natural AC.
plus whatever Nat Ac you may or may not already have. Armor bonuses, Dodge bonuses, size bonuses from enlarge spell.

The Wayfinders stuff has hundred plus types of Ioun stones and ways to stack like what you said Look at the Seekers and secrets book.

Dude I'm sorry I didn't make these rules, it's already in the game.
there is a lot of ways to enhance a person in this system. And since there is so many, doesn't mean most likely they did this on purpose?

Pathfinder is a better system then DnD ever was. But it's also op as hell if you know what your doing.

Scarab Sages

ok they say creating a item. is it a max of 8 hours in a day you can work on it, or can you work on it for 16hours with two hours down time, with ring of sustenance.

the rule doesn't clarify well enough for me. thought I'd ask.

Scarab Sages

ok I don't know if I calculated everything correctly but I'm sure ppl will put their two cents in about this post.

I had an ideal about bundling magic Items together.

Such as making a small string of gold twine and enchanting it with a +6 enhancement bonus, Make a second with a +6 insight bonus and a third with a +6 Luck bonus. however the enhancement bonus says it can only go up to lvl 6? what about +10 insight bonus.

My question here where does the bonus number stop and what bonuses can be applied where. Items like this cost tons of gold, but for what you could get is huge compared to the examples in the Core books and the other books that help you with item ideals.

If i make a Cat claw weapon make the finger pieces one with a +2 to str, one with a +2 to dex, ect. make it take of the glove and bracer slot so I can also add Bracer of armor to it or the like. it's a big combined magic item. That becomes a Artifact at this point.

Scarab Sages

i'll start a new thread on my ideals of cheap artifacts and powerful items.

Scarab Sages

Back in 3.0 dnd they had a bow that every time you pulled the string it activated the true strike. think the cost was 5 or 6k.

We re-made it into a bow and wand combo it has 50 changes and you have to replace a wand that attached to it every time it ran out lol.

Don't even get me started on my cheap ways to make powerful magic items lol.

Scarab Sages

I have a cheap easy way. Take the leadership feat to get a companion to use a wand of true strike on you (750gp). With a wand you can cast it on another person.

have fun and good day

Philter of Love
Aura strong enchantment; CL 15th

Slot none; Price 3,000 gp; Weight —

Description
This potent preparation causes a creature who drinks it to fall madly in love with the first creature he or she perceives after consuming it. The drinker's attitude toward that creature becomes helpful. If a romantic attraction is possible toward the first person viewed, the drinker falls in love with that person. Otherwise, the drinker's love is a platonic adoration. The effects of the philter are permanent unless removed by a break enchantment, dispel magic, limited wish, miracle, remove curse, or wish.

I want to know is there a save?

My GM is allowing me to advance threw the ranks, and this is the closes I've ever been to being L/Good ever. I'm currently a Legion Archon. I started at the bottom and have worked my way up. I've earned not thur Exp each evolution. My character isn't solely based of exp I've actually been the same level for a while.

This is the most role playing character I've ever had.

When I was a hound archon i still had the mentality of the Lantern. I walked into a major town, well tried to anyway to buy something for a NPC that he needed. and omg guards then more guards and then the clerics came, it was like a parade. I was like holding up a gold piece trying to say i just wanted something from the store. it was a Facepalm moment lol.

But each level they get different feats, and different stuff they can do. I understand this could get very op. So with that thought I do not take and gear or items for myself, I give everything to the temple. I'm with other PCs and some of them have better stats then I do lol.

Scarab Sages

thank you, i was getting caught up in the definitions of a attack action. I understand now, thanks

Scarab Sages

Whirlwind Attack (Combat)
You can strike out at every foe within reach.

Prerequisites: Dex 13, Int 13, Combat Expertise, Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, base attack bonus +4.

Benefit: When you use the full-attack action, you can give up your regular attacks and instead make one melee attack at your highest base attack bonus against each opponent within reach. You must make a separate attack roll against each opponent.

When you use the Whirlwind Attack feat, you also forfeit any bonus or extra attacks granted by other feats, spells, or abilities.

And

Vital Strike (Combat)
You make a single attack that deals significantly more damage than normal.

Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +6.

Benefit: When you use the attack action, you can make one attack at your highest base attack bonus that deals additional damage. Roll the weapon’s damage dice for the attack twice and add the results together before adding bonuses from Strength, weapon abilities (such as flaming), precision-based damage, and other damage bonuses. These extra weapon damage dice are not multiplied on a critical hit, but are added to the total.

Can i do them both in one attack?

Scarab Sages

I have a question, Wayfinders Have Resonant powers, So if I make a Crimson Sphere a +6 intelligence enhancement. I rolled on the chart it came up +2 enhancement to Intelligence which gives it a +8 total bonus. Does it stack ?

Scarab Sages

I'm dumb maybe can't figure out how to leave my own thread.

Yeah he was one of the players, most everyone at the table is a GM.

I'm just not used to being such a crazy game as this. My other complaint with the last GM he didn't stick to rules often from the book and change them.

Like the Symbol spells he made them all do the Death effect. So I was the only one that could go in the rooms with those because my saves were so good.

Scarab Sages

I agree it's out of control a lot. And I wanted to start over.

But the first GM we had left town to find a job, in a better job market area. Because he wasn't having much luck here.

Going to talk to the GM to put in on my shield instead of my Chain shirt.

Isn't the new GM supposed to discourage doing just that?

the one we had wasn't the best GM. The one we are getting is pretty damn good and I'm redoing some of my gear now. But still my armor is pretty gross.

Well our game continues, but now we have a New GM, that is going to have a bit of a tough time. Since he is taking over the game and mistakes of the last GM. Their styles are totally different. Nowhere, you can not take 10 on Use magic device, you can not take 10 on Knowledge skills, but you CAN take 10 on Spellcraft.

The Seekers book has Pathfinder Servant in it, you can take ten on Arcane, Use Magic Device, and Spell Craft checks. That's the only place I've found it.

Anburaid wrote:

<nit-pick>

didn't see if this was mentioned before, but the Caster Level on a magic item is not a requirement to craft that item. It is a measurement of how hard that item is to suppress with a dispel magic. If it was a requirement it would be listed in the crafting requirements.
</nit-pick>

Pathfinder may have taken out XP costs, but it replaced it with a spellcraft rolls for creating and item. Fail the roll by more than 5? You are the proud owner of a cursed headband, yay! Which is not to say the rolls are very hard, they are not. And if you have a maxed spellcraft check, you can make most of those rolls taking 10. But the threat is there if you are going to be over-reaching.

The real major requirement for the crafting of magic items is gold pieces, which in a monte haul game are much easier to come by.

I can make anything in the craft wondrous item range. I start 27 before i roll the dice, If I cast a spell then it's a 37 before I roll. Pathfinder Servant in the Pathfinder Seekers book, came out with a prestige that allows you to take 10 on a spell craft check. Normally you can't take ten on a spellcraft check.

Okay, really quick, back to that initial 144K item, made for 25K.

First of all, the discounts listed are for the estimation of pricing on *new* items, not to change the price of already created ones. But let's set that aside.

Second, skill and class discounts don't stack. Again, set that aside.

Mike Johnson 320 wrote:
Forgot to mention a another feat that lets you take 25% off the price, bring the total discount to 65%

Third, percent discounts should never (very rarely) add together. They must be multiplied. Otherwise, with a negative total, you could end up getting paid by the universe for crafting an item for free.

Multiplying, (1-30%)*(1-10%)*(1-25%)*50%*144K = 36450gp, and take over 3 months to create.

Slightly more reasonable, if barely.

With just the class requirement and the feat reduction: 37800gp, and 101 days.

Fourth, do remember that that item, if ever sold, will sell for very very little. (less than creation cost I would imagine).

The percentage wasn't written that way in the book, matter fact I think Pathfinder needs a extra guild to explain the item creation process and maybe some nifty new items with Pathfinders touch on them would be cool.

Tonight's game went a little better, except we ran into a Huge Red dragon, That I started the conversation out like: Hello and came right out no fear of it nothing and started talking to it, And saying how great it looked and totally caught the GM off guard I guess.

It was fine till I asked if he'd become my mount then it tried to swat at me lol.

Then I patted it on the head but you make such a good pet. And the fight was on. In the end it ended up running from the battle after we beat the Hell out of it.

The end monsters tonight wear 4 ghost and they wear a pain in the arse to kill. it took forever to drop one of those.

Also another example of getting too much gold we in the of 6 members got our split of gold from 3 weeks of collecting it and not being able to sell it. We sold all our loot at half price and got 33,900 and change each.

I thought it'd be cool to have a ring of sustenance on my tongue because the effects of the ring, And I didn't get perverted with the game the other ring was a Ear ring since they both didn't have Item slots.

Feather fall ring cost 2200 gold if I remember right and 4400 gold for no slot.

Sustenance ring cost 2500 gold, no slot it was 5000 gold.

It's not that much considering our DM gave too much gold out.

He has since stopped giving out much gold at all and has gone to the medium XP chart in a attempt to slow us down.

So he is getting an ideal that there is a problem but at this point I'm just waiting for a new campaign where can start over and maybe we can play a normal game without all this power gaming.
