I'm sorry guys but I just can't maintain interest in a game where the GM posts 'one sentence' in the past 13 days.

Do what you want with Mem'basi and have fun but this pace is really not working for me.

Happy gaming!

Hoping to end the druid threat once and for all, Mem'basi attacked with fury.

Mem’basi, leopard wild shape, power attack, full attack
bite to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
bite damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
claw 1 to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
claw 1 damage: 1d3 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
claw 2 to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
claw 2 damage: 1d3 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Mem'basi saw druid cast some sort of spell and jumped on him to end whatever was cast quickly.

Mem’basi, leopard wild shape, power attack, full attack
bite to hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
bite damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
claw 1 to hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
claw 1 damage: 1d3 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
claw 2 to hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
claw 2 damage: 1d3 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Since we can't seem to edit the map, please do so and so we can know where everyone is. I really don't want to do another multi-character fight without knowing where people are. I'll wait to see what Mem'basi will do until I see what's going on. Thanks.

Another gripe of mine. It seems that there are only four PCs regularly involved here since Corvus just stands back. I don't want to make anyone leave the game but if this 'mission' won't get Corvus involved then maybe we should get another PC. Thoughts?

The Charau-ka druid just happens to be in the back, so I will have you attack left and right, is that ok?

Yep, whatever makes sense.

Bolstered by deadly attack and with blood in his mouth, Mem'basi charged and pounced on the charau-ka druid while Zimba did the same with the charau-ka next to him. The charau-ka never saw them coming until it was too late.

how do I modify the map?

GMEDWIN wrote:
You are just off the map to the east. so the dire apes may be attacked in melee. Feel free to move your chars into position

in that case then Mem'basi will pounce (power attack) the ape on the left and Zimba will pounce the ape on the right (already hurt)

Both druid and leopard tried to be silent but when their fangs and claws ripped into the apes, little could they do to keep the attack from being seen. Both 'animals' ripped and rendered ape flesh.

are we close enough to attack in melee?

Mem'basi and Zimba both growled as if understanding each other.

sorry, can't talk right now but you've seen mem'basi and Zimba team-up on the big guys so probably expect something similar unless it's a really big guy

Seeing the half-elf cast, the druid does the same.

cast bull's strength on him and barkskin on leopard

He then transforms into a larger version of Zimba but with a peculiar dark, jet-black coat.

Mem'basi scratched behind the leopard's ear. "Stay sharp, will you. And try not to get hurt this time," chuckled the druid.

The leopard growled in answer.

we're assuming that we're all healed with magic and spending the night on the boat, right?

Yoshiyaru wrote:
"I did not know these girallons could speak. They fell rather swiftly to our blades and arrows."

Mem'basi and a rather disheveled looking leopard appeared at Yoshi's side. "Do not forget about fangs and claws. Zimba has been instrumental in all our encounters."

Mem'basi cradled his leopard in his arms assessing the extent of the wounds. "You've proven yourself many times these past few days, old friend. It may be time to rest a bit."

Well I just added up the numbers and Zimba is actually dying when the falling rock occurred. I took the damage done to him after this and added it to Mem'basi to be 'fair'. Here's the update for my PCs

Mem'basi thought about breaking off melee and chasing the fleeing charau-ka but the sight of Zimba on the ground bleeding stayed his course. With new found strength, the druid redoubled his efforts to kill the last standing enemy quickly so he could aid his life-long companion.

Mem’basi power attack with spear

Mem'basi, Charau-ka.

Please give us a little update. Who is left and how hurt are they and how long ago did the druid take of?

Remember we are trying to flank whenever possible; I would also like for Zimba to charge/pounce since that would give the leopard 2 more attacks. In any case, I'm not sure whether that is possible but I'm rolling with it... Please adjust when possible.

Mem’basi power attack with spear
power attack, spear to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
power attack, spear damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Zimba full attack

claw 2 to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
claw 2 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Mem’basi power attack with spear
power attack, spear to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
power attack, spear damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Zimba full attack
bite to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
bite damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
claw 1 to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
claw 1 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
claw 2 to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
claw 2 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

No map or other help so it's really hard to know who is 'available' to be attacked. We also don't know distances so Zimba could charge/pounce. So, here are the attack/damage rolls for a simple attack. I guess you need to figure out who's attacking who, if there's flanking, charging, etc. involved.

Mem’basi power attack with spear
power attack, spear to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
power attack, spear damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Zimba full attack
bite to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
bite damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
claw 1 to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
claw 1 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
claw 2 to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
claw 2 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

GMEDWIN wrote:
@Mem'basi, if you proceed with your action, either Zimba or you will incur an AoO. Because you are both in melee with two different characters.

It's kind of hard to know without a map, which I guess you didn't find the time to make. In any case, Mem'basi called Zimba so have the leopard take the AoO.

not sure it's my turn but use when it is

Seeing Angelo still trapped, Coruvus entangled and on the ground and Yoshi hurt was not good. The only bright side was that a couple of the monkey men had already been brought down.

The druid yelled to leopard, "Zimba, to me!" and started the tedious work of killing off the enemy, one at a time if need be.

Zimba, flanking full attack
bite to hit: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 2 = 25
bite damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
claw 1 to hit: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13
claw 1 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
claw 2 to hit: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 14
claw 2 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Mem’basi power attack with spear, flanking
power attack, spear to hit: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 17
power attack, spear damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

The druid was furious with the net entangling him. He called to his leopard and pointed to the monkey-man holding the other end of his net.
"Zimba, help me here. Attack!"
As if on queue, the leopard pounced on the charau-ka who was busy attending to Mem'basi.

Zimba full attack (pounce)
bite to hit: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 2 = 28
bite damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
claw 1 to hit: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10
claw 1 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
claw 2 to hit: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 2 = 24
claw 2 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
claw 3 to hit: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 = 25
claw 3 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
claw 4 to hit: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11
claw 4 damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

bite to hit (critical confirmation): 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 2 = 16
bite damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
assuming it's hit since this particular guy is busy trying to entangle Mem'basi

With the other side of the net going slack thanks to Zimba, it was easy for the druid to take the net off of him. He then attacked.

assuming move action to remove 'slack' net and standard action to attack
Mem’basi power attack with spear to whoever is near him
power attack, spear to hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
power attack, spear damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

a little complicated combat here that would really benefit from a map and a status report on how hurt the enemy is

"It's good to have some magic lights; it keeps my hands free for other things. Let Zimba go right after you; the cat can smell and hear much better than we do and will let us know of potential danger."

Mem'basi nodded his thanks to the holy warrior but then called upon his own magic to finish cauterizing his own wounds.

CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

He then looked at the others, "Yes, we should investigate the cave but we can let Zimba take the lead; he can smell danger way before we see it."

"Poulain! Any tracks?"

DM, I say take us to the cave unless there is better idea.

Please confirm that your paladin doesn't have or is not willing to use channel positive energy so I can see about healing Mem'basi and get on with the game. Thanks.

GMEDWIN wrote:
You are waiting on me... Everyone give me a perception check and tell me what you want to know... How can I guess?

Yes, I am waiting on you and you don't have to guess; just pay attention when you read. Back in post 484, I said that Mem'basi was 'inspecting the girallons and the corpses'. I don't know what sort of check I need (perception to find something, knowledge nature to determine something strange on the girallons, knowledge religion to identify an amulet worn by the corpses, etc.) but if I need a perception check then go ahead and roll it. Please don't wait on player input for something that's random anyway. I trust you and you are probably going to post the roll anyway. If I didn't trust you as GM, I wouldn't be playing the game.

Can we please get a summary of who's hurt, and how badly? I think the primary patients right now are Poulaine and Mem'basi. Poulaine was ravaged to -11, and subsequently CLW'd 2x and Lay on Hands'd for a total of around 30, which I think leaves him around 20. Mem'basi was dropped to about 3, and was CLW'd back up to something like 13. Is my math and situational awareness roughly correct?

Mem'basi is 14 of 39 hp and Zimba is full. Mem'basi has a couple of CLW at his disposal; I just wanted to see if anyone could channel positive energy to be more efficient. Corvus?

I'm also waiting on the GM to see about the girallons and corpses

Seeing he was hurt, the druid reluctantly morphed back into a human. He knew the transformation taxed him so much that he wouldn't be able to pull that trick again without a good rest.

He then took account of his wounds and asked, "Are any of you able to cast out healing spirits? I have seen shamans who could heal from a distance and to more than one person at a time? If so, we could use that now."

He then turned to Zimba, "Go and guard the entrance to that cave. Let us know if anything comes out."

He neared Angelo who was healing Poulain and addressed the ranger, "I hope you learned your lesson. Today it was you who almost died; I don't want that to happen to anyone else. We wait to see what we can learn without engaging in battle, especially when they weren't even aware of our presence. If it came to a fight, we could have coordinated better. Understood?"

Acknowledging Angelo, the druid went to inspect the girallons and the corpses.

Heal (long term care, DC 15) on Poulain: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

"In fact, my cat needs some. Zimba, come here."

Heal (long term care, DC 15) on Zimba: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

"And myself."
Heal (long term care, DC 15) on Mem'basi: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

I've changed my 1st level spell list for tomorrow. It seems we need a lot more healing than anticipated.

for tomorrow morning
Mem’basi status: Male human (zenj), Druid 4, AC 18/16/13, HP 35 of 39, Fort +6, Ref +4, Will +6, Init +6, Percep +9; Special: n/a
Zimba status: leopard, AC 20/14/16, HP 30 of 30, Fort +6, Ref +9, Will +2 Init +5, Percep. +5; Special: n/a

Finally trying to get some rest, the druid saw that some of his companions were hurt.

"We need to be at our best tomorrow so I can try and provide some healing to whoever needs it. Is anyone hurt?"

anyone?

later

"Zimba and I will take the last watch; I'm an early riser anyways."

"Hold on Angelo. This one is a survivor. And to think Poulain wanted to kill it."

Mem’basi non-lethal attack with dagger
non-lethal dagger to hit: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 4 = 14
non-lethal dagger damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

"There now, that out to do it. Hold the bag steady...

It's hard to tell if you're waiting on Mem'basi to do something; please be explicit with who you are waiting on. I will post just in case.

"Damn. Try to do something nice and this is what I get."
The druid pulled his dagger, reversed the grip and hit to knock out the small cobra.

Mem’basi non-lethal attack with dagger
non-lethal dagger to hit: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 4 = 15
non-lethal dagger damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

If the cobra is knocked out, I will get Angelo to bring his bag over so we can place it inside

"Right. What Angelo said! Now hold that bag open; I'm still going to get the little one.

Mem’basi non-lethal damage with spear
non-lethal spear to hit: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 4 = 3
non-lethal, spear damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

"Damn, that was not what I wanted to do. Angelo, get that bag over here; let's see if we can at least save this one. let's try not to hurt it too much.

Mem’basi non-lethal damage with spear
spear to hit: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 4 = 5
spear non-lethal damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

if/when the baby cobra is knocked out/subdued, Mem'basi will place it in a bag.

"Alright Poulain, you got your wish. We can lick our wounds here if you think there isn't anything better near by.

Anything valuable from past victims?
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Yes, Mem'basi casts the spell like I said on Saturday's post. I'm waiting to find out what he finds, if anything. The idea is to loot their nests and then go on and find another place to rest.

Is everyone in agreement?

"I though we decided that we weren't going to stay here! All I need is a bit of time to check the nest and see if there is something worth taking. Can you distract them for a bit?

Mem'basi casts hide from animals to as many as four people and then checks their nest. Tell me what sort of roll you want. It can't be stealth because they 'cannot' detect us (no eye, ear, scent, nothing) as long as we don;t attack them or directly touch them

OK, thanks.

What about the 'hide from animals' spell?

Will Mem'basi remain undetected if he goes to the nest, looks around. and 'gently' moves a snake or two, if needed, to get a better look at what's there?

The idea is to cast hide from animals and poke around and explore their lair.

How do you interpret the spell? Would I be able to walk around inside, maybe even push the snakes aside with a stick without being noticed?

I'm asking because I heard different interpretations of it but Mem'basi would know how it works since it's not the first time he cast it.

BTW, what is the lair like? How big, where is it, etc.

Knowledge nature: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Thanks.

"There's no need for us to kill these. I can make anyone totally undetectable to the snakes or any animal, up to four people actually. We can then search the nest and gather any supplies the vipers won't need.

The druid looked to see if his plan was accepted.

"We will have to look for another site to rest but Poulain knows this area like the back of his hand so it shouldn't be a problem. You all didn't want to spend the night in a viper's den, did you?"

Yoshi whispered back, "I can do that, if no one objects."

With that, he looked at Mem'basi.

The druid grunted, "Wait. What are we burning? Poulain?"

Thanks

Mem'basi shook his head, communication issues again. "Yes, I meant whether we go on to our original destination or whether we lick our wounds some other place. We aren't staying with the dead animals."

His anger came and went swiftly. "What about the serpent lair? Worth looking for it? They were certainly big enough to have swallowed a man whole. Anybody wonder whether they could have pooped some loot along with bones?"
