"A sound and righteous plan master Dwarf! Let us be done with this place and its ilk. Although I think Landolf dispelled the heart of their foul art with his righteous stroke, nothing good will come from here for a long while. If you'll excuse me, I need to review my grimoire for any references I may find in reference to this foulness."

Markus knows full well there is nothing in his grimoire that talk about such foul necromancy, but he also wants nothing to do with dragging mutants out and impaling them on stakes.

So much Marsh Lights

Marsh Lights spell Description:

This spell creates the appearance of a number of lights, as of distant torches or lanterns. The lights appear within 100 yards of the caster and can then be sent off in any desired direction. They naturally follow corridors or paths and do not need to be controlled or overseen in any way. The caster can, however, control their movements more closely while the lights remain in sight - but must concentrate to do so (i.e., he or she may not perform any other actions while controlling the lights' movements).
The lights travel at various speeds, but never slower than 8 yards per round and never faster than 16 yards per round. They last for 1 hour and then gradually fade and vanish. This spell is useful for creating false trails and confusing pursuers. By the time they realize what is going on, the caster could be miles away.

Markus generated a significant number of Marsh Lights and he can control them. He sends two-thirds of his lights scattering towards the oncoming barge at 16 yards per round. The others are sent circling round the Berebeli at a distance that they only dimly light our own boat.

Markus please roll for Initiative

Oh my, that's a critical on a spell!

If the casting roll is a Critical, the Winds of Magic have flared dangerously high, granting you extra power, but at a cost. Unless you have the Instinctive Diction Talent, you roll on the Minor Miscast Table as the power moves beyond your control, but you may also choose one of the following effects:
• Critical Cast: If the spell causes Damage, it also inflicts a Critical Wound.
• Total Power: The spell is cast, no matter its CN and your rolled SL, but can be Dispelled.
• Unstoppable Force: If you scored enough SL to cast your spell, it cannot be Dispelled.

The spell was a success with a SL +2 which means that you can choose a 2nd target which also will have a critical hit inflicted

Roll 1d100 for the Minor Miscast Table (try to roll low)

"That pig is paying for itself already!" Markus thinks to himself with a grin.

I am waiting inside the Spittlefield. As much as I want to see Gino paid, I am NOT going back there by myself to do it. I may be munching on a pretzel and reading one of my books while I wait.

In the meantime, Markus is on his way to the market to buy a whole cooked pig. And pretzels. After being useless against a river troll, Markus has no interest in upsetting an ogre by being late with promised lunch. Gino may not be smart, but Markus is betting that missing food is something he won't forget. .. or forgive.

Markus awakes from his apparent state of shock, being completely useless against the River Troll, taking stock of his surroundings.

"Ogre or Ogryn? Careful now Master Landolf, neither likes being mistaken for the other."
