Pleased with her fellow adventurers' cooperation, Marigold smiles pleasantly on the way to Taergan's, greeting various locals (mostly halflings) on the way. Once before the townhouse, Marigold admires the lion's head knocker with a wry smile. "Normally I'd say we should just knock," the halfling starts, "but things seem a little too quiet. Perhaps he is simply in his lab, though? In any case, I'll see if there's any hidden foul play about..." Marigold concentrates for a second, then her irises sparkle a brilliant gold as she calls on Alseta to grant her vision of evil. Casting Detect Evil, then scanning the length of the townhouse.

"Pleased to meet you, Victoria. I am Marigold Whiteroot," the halfling says with a smile. A servant of Sarenrae it seems. I've never turned down helped from those who serve the Dawnflower before. "Our gracious hosts, two members of the illustrious Golden Watch, have asked us to find a couple of their friends, who are even later than you are." This last phrase is said with a coy smile, rather than any sort of chastisement. She explains the details of the request to Victoria, about finding Taergan and Dorn. "Some of our friends here were just discussing our reimbursement. For some, it seems, the honor of helping the famous Golden Watch and earning their respect and a favor in return is not enough. It seems like a simple enough task. I do not think it will require more than our combined effort can muster to simply check up on a few old friends." Marigold gives her more reluctant companions a soft smile. "If it is mere gold you seek, there is certainly work in Cassomir for you, and I'd be glad to assist you in finding it. Lex, if you're in need of literal sustenance--I apologize, I am no good with lengthy metaphors--I'd be happy to assist in that area as well. But here is a golden door of opportunity! Surely you don't think that Branda and Verus got to where they are without a little help." The halfling turns to address the hosts. "I offer my services as a follower of The Welcomer. I hope that we find your friends well."

While such moments should indeed be approached with reverence, the door by itself merely represents a barrier that has to be overcome to transition the threshold, yes? as such, the manner of overcoming is less important than the act of transition itself. Or so I am told." A barrier, yes, but often it is just as important as an obstacle to be overcome as it is a necessary blockage. Without the door, there is no doorway, the transition loses its markers, which although arbitrary create meaning. But, you know, mostly we don't want to cause a lot of unnecessary collateral damage. Vandalism isn't cool!

A halfling woman, dressed simply and for practicality--even her sparkling breastplate contains no frills or excess extravagance, bearing only a simple engraving on the front of a woman in profile with a simple mask on the back of her head--removes her tan hat and goggles, shaking out her sandy blonde hair. "Marigold Whiteroot, Cassomir native," she says by way of introduction, her voice even and surprisingly deep for a halfling. "I try not to make my efforts known too widely, but in certain circles I am well recognized as an enemy to bullies of all kinds," she hints with a slight smirk. "In any case, I am a guide to the lost as a follower of the goddess Alseta. She has guided my hand against many evils: corrupt merchants, cruel slavers, those who consort with devils; but enough about me!" The halfling dismisses her introduction with a modest wave. "I am glad to meet such an impressive and storied group!"

Well, I just wanted to let people know it was there. It's unlikely to be have a huge impact, but I've also played a paladin in PFS from 1 to 6 without having the benefits of Aura of Courage (which it replaces) come into play either. I'm just asking we be nice to portals, as a follower of the goddess of doors. :P

Oops, I forgot to add the background/appearance portion to my alias. Had it in another doc. It's updated now! Build note: while we have a chance to update our characters, I should point out a weird part of this archetype. Instead of the Aura of Courage, I get this: Shared Precision
It seems strange, since it benefits ranged attackers; but the benefit is to shoot into melee? So what I'm saying is, I can make us a little better at close-range non-melee combat. So bring a sling or something--they're free!
Introducing Marigold Whiteroot, halfling paladin of Alseta, the goddess of doors, transitions, and years. Technically she falls outside of the sourcebook limits, so I can figure out something else if that's a problem. I only have the stats up at the moment on this alias, but I hope to get the background and such up by tomorrow. I think the idea will be that she's a native of Cassomir who helps halfling immigrants from other cities (often fleeing Chelish slaves) integrate into their new communities, and defends them from whatever evils oppose her or her community.

Must have got lost in an earlier draft. I also didn't realize you wanted it in its own special block, glad I got that info.

Actually, the Arcane Duelist archetype gets it as a free bonus feat. It's not the damage I'm worried about, it's that the feat chains I'm looking at will have to wait until I get a higher BAB. I wanted to try out the Step Up chain, since the archetype also gets a bunch of free normally fighter-only anti-caster feats. Stick to those wizards and evil clerics and never let them flee my sword. :3 |
