Grand Lodge

As the Pathfinders seems to have decided who send to and how to organize the two groups, Marcos asks

Do you have any question left for me ? Or are you ready to move ?
I will let you talk to the team before you left, I have secured transportation to different parts of Nidal for you and your teams.

Grand Lodge

Yes, there is the Scroll Seekers, the Kernaug Group and ... Marcos sighs heavily and continues and the Axe-Fixers.
With your great job in Pashow with them, I think they will be in good hands.

Grand Lodge

Master of Swords Marcos Farabellus meets with you four behind closed doors at the Grand Lodge in Absalom after sending you an invitation to meet. Marcos Farabellus paces thoughtfully for a moment before rapping his knuckles on his desk to call the meeting to order.

Sometimes challenges force us to re-examine how we treat others, including old enemies. That’s a good thing, leading to growth and moments in which rising stars can distinguish themselves against dire odds.
He gives an appreciative bow before continuing.

I say this because we’re not alone in our struggle against the Korholm Agenda; they’re even more a thorn in the Aspis Consortium’s side than in our own. If we let those wounds fester, it will destroy us both. It’s jarring to work with the Aspis against a common foe, but their assistance might help us stop the Korholm Agenda before they could harm thousands more innocents.

The Agenda was behind the recent events in Thuvia—again, well done on stopping that—and the team unearthed records of one Professor Kramolag, a member of the Aspis Consortium who has been supplying the Agenda with her technical expertise. When I discussed these findings with my contact in the Consortium, he seemed unsettled by the development but promised to handle the matter personally and relay his findings after the fact. Farabellus smirks with chagrin.
We may be trying to mend some bridges with the Aspis, but I’m not so foolish to trust an Aspis higher-up at his word. I sent several agents to follow his team and observe from afar as they traveled to Nidal. Within a few hours, they had broken into an underground facility, left with bundles of strange relics, and set part of the nearby plantation on fire to hide their tracks. As you might guess, my Aspis contact politely informed me that the matter was resolved and that I didn’t need to worry about it anymore. Bullfeathers!
The Master of Swords lets the affront sink in before reaching down and dumping a stack of papers on the desk. What my contact neglected to mention is that they never found Professor Kramolag. Our own experts have tracked down where she’s hidden based on intercepted correspondence and questioned survivors of that Aspis raid. She’s set up a lab on a barren island west of Nidal known as Wingless Rock, and hopefully she still thinks she’s safe and hasn’t run off yet. We’ve also found she has one other intact secondary lab at the southern edge of the Uskwood, and there are still unanswered questions about the damaged site near the Mindspin Mountains.

If Kramolag’s research is any indication, she’s armed, dangerous, and has been calling the shots for the past year. I’d like you to lead the expedition there, ensure she doesn’t remain a threat to the Society, and secure all other information you can on any other plans she’s set in motion already. I’ve gathered the teams you oversaw in Thuvia to provide you additional help, and I’m letting you call the shots on this Nidalese campaign. I recommend assigning one or two to check out the secondary sites, as it’s only a matter of time before the Consortium or the Agenda learns what we know and destroy any remaining
evidence there.

He straightens and concludes. Not every agent has what it takes to lead like you do. It isn’t easy, so I’m here in an advisory role until I have to attend to other business. If you have no question Good luck. If you have, it's time to ask.

The pile of papers are the compiled reports and illustrations Farabellus’s agents made while observing the Aspis team and scouting other sites. You may experience many of these discoveries firsthand by playing Pathfinder Society Special #7–98: Serpents’ Ire

Key informations you can find in the papers:

  • The Aspis raided a research laboratory hidden beneath a Nidalese plantation known as Wirholt’s Rictus. Few of the workers there seemed to know anything about the facility below.
  • A known member of the Korholm Agenda would occasionally visit the site, but is believed that person perished during the raid.
  • It appears the site enacted containment procedures during the raid, destroying some of the evidence before the Aspis team intervened. The Aspis agents left carrying a collection of magic items, documents, and even a few biological samples (all of unknown provenance to the Society).
  • Initial forays into the damaged facility found signs of occult research, but utterly alien creatures chased off the Pathfinder agents before they could learn anything of substance.
  • The secondary facility just inside the Uskwood seems to be the smallest of the three, but any defenses it has are likely still operational.
  • The main facility is 40 miles off Nidal’s coast, on a black skerry known as Wingless Rock. It’s a small, barren island partly surrounded by dangerous reefs and other mundane hazards that discourage visitors.

Knowledge (geography or local) 20:
Nidalese sailors give Wingless Rock a wide berth, not because it poses any serious danger, but because it’s not on the way to anywhere in particular and has a reputation for bringing misfortune to anyone who sets foot upon it. Supposedly, even birds refuse to roost on the unlucky rock.

Knowledge (geography or local) 30:
The Aspis Consortium once used a dilapidated fishing shack on Wingless Rock as a drop point for smuggling historic relics out of Nidal. Pathfinder Society agents disrupted the operation over 30 years ago.

After debriefing the team, it's your time to report back to Farrabellus.

He is keen to review the texts you've recovered from Loaralis’s lair, and he congratulates you on a job well done. Already the Society’s fame in Thuvia has spread, and no doubt new opportunities in the region will materialize thanks to your efforts.

Please, do not travel far in the coming weeks, as I hope that your clues will help the Society track down the source of the mysterious extraplanar records.

THE END

Chronicles are on their way !

Grand Lodge

Marcos Farrabellus is quick to respond to Kurik's call.

I have many questions. Where did the extraplanar invaders come from? Is Kitio still a threat? These issues could stand investigation, but tracking down Loaralis and the lost elixirs is more important.
The mission has evolved, and it requires direct leadership in Pashow, not a voice from Kortos.
You’re now in command of the operation and have authority to direct the remaining Pathfinder teams as you see fit—they will report to you shortly and can assist where you cannot go.
Leadership is a privilege but also a burden. Remember the Wall of Names, Pathfinders.

Grand Lodge

Before you leave Marocs gives Shump a palm-sized ceramic disk bearing the Glyph of the Open road on one side and a pair of crossed swords on the other and looking at each one of you says.
When broken, this he shows the disk will allow you to speak up to 100 words to me and receive a response as long. If your duties change, use this to keep me updated and reassess your priorities together if needed.

Good Luck Pathfinders, and remember the Names and our motto Explore, Report, Cooperate.

Grand Lodge

No more question Pathfinders ?

Asks Marcos In this case, I invite you to get to see Farhaana Zadeh in Starhall.

If you have any purchase to make or any questions please do it before being teleported in Pashow.

Grand Lodge

With the Aspis, we never know... Be prepared for anything.
As for the other threats to the region I know nothing more than what I said before about the two last shipments being missing. No one knows how. We’ve sent several groups to investigate the disappearances of the last two shipments, but they’ve all come up empty. There’s been a taboo surrounding the use of teleportation magic to deliver the elixir from the Citadel of the Alchemist, and it seems the troubles of Pashow lend credence to that belief.
In fact, both times that Emir Guldis attempted to secure his city’s shipments were with teleportation magic, and both went horribly wrong. At least teleportation magic for any other purpose seems safe.

no knowledge rolls for this part

Grand Lodge

I don't know. I suppose it depends of the group protecting the Elixir. For the Pathfinder convoy less than a day, half I think.

Grand Lodge

Don't worry about that Kurik and keep your spells, you may have need of them later. As time is of the essence, Emir Guldis has sent one of his most experienced court conjurers to personally teleport you to his city. Her name is Farhaana Zadeh and she awaits your arrival in Starhall.

Oh! And if you need supplies, I suggest you do it here as Pashow is not as big as Absalom and don't have that many merchants able to find anything is a snap time.

Grand Lodge

Yes, Basalte. In fact, even if the Sun Orchid is a unique alchemical liquid known to reverse the ravages of aging, it's a Thuvian alchemist who developed it, and local authorities say that he still resides in a vast—and some say impregnable—fortress called the Citadel of the Alchemist.
Every year, no more than six vials of this miracle substance are released from the Citadel and travel to one of Thuvia’s city-states. In turn-this year, Pashow-, the city-state sells each of the vials at an auction, commanding some of the highest prices seen on Golarion.
After all, who doesn’t want a taste of immortality?
Your mission is not to protect the vials, we have send another team of less experienced Pathfinders to help protect one of the vial alongside Pashow's elite military forces. They come with the deal made with Emir Guldis. He also hired several other mercenaries to protect true and false elixirs.
Your role is a last line of defense if one of the convoy is under attack and unable to defend itself.
I hope your expertise will not be needed, but with the Aspis involved I'm not that confident...

Grand Lodge

Marcos smiles at Kurik's comment and says You are at Emir Guldis' disposal. You will act as Representatives of the Society as well as the last line of defense if something goes wrong.
Your mission is to be sure that all the Elixirs arrive in the Emir's hands.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Grand Lodge

Our field agents discovered the name of the resident Aspis Gold Agent : Kitio Aspenthi. Both our organization and Emir Guldis separately came to the conclusion that Kitio is making a play to claim some or all of the sun orchid vials for the Aspis Consortium.
As a gold agent, Kitio has the full ressource of the Consortium to help him in his scheme.
We have other agents tracking Kitio down, but we need our best—you—to ensure the sun orchid delivery reaches Pashow.
Emir Guldis will have more information on site.

Grand Lodge

Marcos welcomes you with a firm handshake and a smile. Then, as Constantine flies towards to wall. Marcos stops and says Looks like the team is now complete.

Once the second half-orc of the group has landing he begins to speak.
I thought this place appropriate. You know, all of the agents who’ve fallen in service to the Society have their names inscribed here. after a short silence he continues. For me, it’s a reminder that the Society’s deeds often come at a cost.
I asked each of you to join me here today, for I could think of no better place to give you this serious mission.
Again the Master of Swords is visibly pensive for a moment before continuing. Through their proxies, the Decemvirate have completed negotiations with the Thuvian city-state of Pashow. As you may or may not know, Pashow is set to receive the latest shipment of Thuvia’s famous Sun Orchid elixir—a tonic that rejuvenates and forestalls the ravages of age. But the last two shipments of the elixir to Pashow over the last decade have failed to reach the city, and in their third attempt, they seek the aid of the Society to ensure nothing goes amiss.

You might ask yourself what business the Society has in dealing with the Sun Orchid trade, or sending agents to act as convoy guards—especially agents and even Venture-Captain as esteemed and talented as you. Well, the leader of Pashow, Emir Guldis, has solid evidence that the Aspis Consortium intends to make an attempt on the delivery, seeking to claim the elixir for the Consortium... Farabellus sweeps his arm over a section of the wall inscribed with the names of dozens of fallen agents. After looking at the wall and murmuring the names for himself he says with fury in his usually laughing eyes The Aspis wounded us, hit us here, on the grounds of this very lodge. These names are all those who fell in that heinous attack.
The one who we’ve learned organized that attack is also the one planning to rob Pashow ! Even if you have no care for vengeance, I ask
that you lend your services to protect a troubled city from Aspis schemes and avert the chaos and hardship that would ensue.
With a less fiery and more serious tone he continues You’ll act as Representatives of the Pathfinder Society, ensuring that Emir Guldis and his city get their elixir, and that the Consortium gets nothing. Pressing on the word nothing he keeps talking As you ensure the delivery of an alchemical miracle capable of extending one’s life by a few decades, remember. Remember that the names inscribed on this wall are immortal in a way far beyond anything that can be found within a vial. Remember that we owe the names on this wall for the sacrifice they made—a sacrifice that allows this Society to endure.

After another moment of silence he says, looking each of you in the eyes.

I will also says Thank YOU. Thank you for all your accomplishments in the Society's name. Some of you are already Venture-Captain and even more skilled than me in the art of the sword. I hope you will represent the Society well and that the Trust I put in you and your skills will show the Consortium the value of the Pathfinders.
Now, if you have questions please, ask them.
