Hey guys, it's that time of year again; ComicPalooza is coming to Houston, Texas and we've extended ourselves to include four days of comics, gaming(getting bigger this year!), pop culture, and more! Unlike previous years instead of using the WarHorn Site to register for games, we've been given a new site and interface to use from ComicPalooza's own Joe Charles. The Website for sign up for players will be provided at the bottom after some basic information about the convention. Set at the George R Brown Convention Center, in downtown Houston, ComicPalooza is one of the(if not the) largest Pop-Culture convention in houston. They've decided this year to finally extend to the fourth day of the convention giving us an added number of days and timeslots to game and enjoy various panels, shows, and guests beyond the normal weekend days a convention usually takes up. This years guests include Adam Daigle, from Paizo and Owen K. Stevens from Super Genius Games. As always I ask that if any of you happen to have some spare time and you're planning to come to the convention, i could always use a GM or two to fill in a slot. After a spectacular turn out at Space City Con 2, the organizer from Space City con has put into motion a "Winter Gaming" convention in January. For those of you who cannot make it to Owl Con in February, this may be the convention for you. Details: When?
Where?
What?
Who?
This thread will be updated as more information becomes available.
Welcome! In advance, we don't cover any position induced insanity brought about by the following, and not limited too: Having to organize everything yourself, answering questions, dealing with troublesome players, becoming a Pathfinder Society speech box, contracting elder things living in your head, falling between planes, or being caught at the epicenter of a reality-warping demonic incursion.
Pathfinder Society Signups for Comicpalooza 2013 (May 24th-26th) in Houston, Texas are now open. I need several Judges still for this convention; This year I intend to offer Bone Keep, but only if we exceed 50 tables covered. I am however offering Eyes of the Ten from start to finish for all of you who are looking to play through the Seeker arc. We'll have demos for Sanctioned APs, Shattered Star Part 1, and Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition, I am fielding all three former Exclusives, as well as S4's exclusive Day of the Demon. It's an ambitious schedule, despite the fact that there is apparently another Convention in texas that same weekend with gaming as well. There will be contact information for me if you are going to GM, and convention information posted within the day. - Marc
1. D - All creatures will suddenly become able to use Shocking Grasp at will to test the veracity of such statements and claims (along with gaining ALL THE RANKS in Knowledge Arcana and Engineering) that their +1 Longbow is infact a Blaster. If it works after it was thoroughly shocked. it's not a blaster. Either it stops treating it like a blaster, or it gets the shock again. 2. D. reanimate the Hungry Orphans as Attic Whisperers, and the little old ladies as Witches with the vampire template at youthful peak. Vampires and Attic Whisperers... It'll be FUN they Said! Kill the little old ladies and the orphans they said; No harm done << Right. 3. D. Give a brief overview, then warn them of their fate, that all the players sitting there at the table are notorious for dying, and that by sittting down at the table, their soul is thus forfiet in the event of death. 4. A. - only by virtue that the dice won't kill them, as I haven't killed them yet. And so long as they don't put themselves at too much risk they should be fine. These days, even furries get to live. S4 dahs brutal. 5. Taking a Sixth Option (Audit the Sheet, if it takes longer then five minutes to fix. Pregen and dice go.) 6. C. Suddenly all monsters gain targeted Gaze-based GM Fear that wasn't revealed by a knowledge check. Surprise!
I'm going to point out here, that Chelaxians have a fair amount of difference between themselves and the ilk of the Shadow Lodge - for very obvious reasons. Chelaxians are all about order. Shadow Lodge Faction members are typically watch dogs - they're in it to make sure the Decemvirate doesn't overstep their boundaries and begin sending pathfinders to their doom over something that may not be worth it. Granted, this involves a fair amount of shady activity. But in the end; here's the question you need to ask yourself Nunspa; Are you fighting for the good of the society as a whole? Or are you fighting for the good of the pathfinders who truly make up the society's influence? If your answer is the second, you're a member of the Shadow Lodge, and that's a noble goal in and of itself. If your answer is the former, then you're a member of the Grand Lodge, at the end of the day - it's two sides of the same coin, essentially fighting for the same thing; though one faction (Grand Lodge) is more about completing excess tasks for the Decemvirate, where as the other is about the wellbeing of your fellow pathfinders... Not everyone has the same methods as you do; or views for that matter. That's something you have to accept. Go forth in shadow or in Light my friend, The Pathfinder Society needs you to watch out for your fellow pathfinders.

You assign it to a character that can legally accept it; or one that approaches that level first. I had a number of Credits sitting on my desk for my -3 but there was sort of a concern whether or not he would get up that high by the time I had another character ready (what with starting a new PFS lodge in my area, and running a large number of low-level scenarios for new comers and people ready to start fresh characters). I've run into an issue where there was a question as to whether or not someone could apply GM credit to a character that had that credit from another game; the answer to this question from the best of my knowledge (at that time and now) is no. You cannot apply that credit. (Incase that ever comes up for you :3)
Pellet Blast as a spell, has damage types for bypassing Damage Reduction based on the type of pellet; and it does piercing damage. The question I have is does the Damage from Pellet Blast count as Magic for purposes of bypassing Damage Reduction as (DR/5 Magic)? Spell quoted from the PRD. Thanks PELLET BLAST
It's rather humorous to see people obsessed with the "Holy X" (For table tops, the Holy Foursome, for MMOs, the Holy Trinity). Party makeup has become extremely variable; In Pathfinder Home Games, it's easier to get a legitimately solid party without having dedicated X. For example, a friday night home game I play in, has no healer. A Sorcerer, A Human Fighter with a Gnomish Battle Ladder (This is a thing.), A Paladin (who has already been thrown into an insane asylum), and a Rogue. We lost the Sorcerer when he decided to Rage Quit over an in character remark about his hardly opaque greed, and picked up nothing. I believe we're scheduled to get a Ranger; but there is no dedicated healer, we currently have no actual caster; aside from the Rogue (which I play) which has a moderate UMD for his level. Nothing short of a party of 4 Orcs with character levels (First encounter of the session), to a Demon-possessed Cleric/Oracle[Not sure which at this point] (recent encounter), has managed to put us down. Several encounters between the two have yet to kill us. While this doesn't disprove the trinity or foursome; it does lend credence to the fact that in pathfinder; having a party of Jacks, as opposed to a group of Aces, is equally as feasible.
Thoughts on Post Author production:
The people who adjusted the final encounter may have had the Undead Sorcerer bloodline in mind when they editted the BBEG. I saw him casting Rage and Aid, and I immediately stopped prepping and went to look up the domains, but saw they didn't allow a cleric to affect an undead minion with mind affecting abilities. After some digging around in the APG, UM, and UC, I went back to the core, and had a look at the Sorcerer bloodlines because i'd remembered about the Undead line. 'lo and behold, there was my answer. Now i'm not saying that is the actual answer to the question of why he does what he does, but the undead Bloodline Arcana seems to be where they got the inspiration. Ghouls are typically humanoid before dying and being raised into undeath as such, which means they fall prey to this ability. Just my thoughts on the last encounter's odd mechanics.
I'm surprised at the growth on this project - it goes to show that the community at large that makes up the base of Paizo's pathfinder franchise is more than willing to put its money where its collective mouth is. Not that spending money on books, accessories, and attending paizo con and the like isn't proof enough of that, but honestly - it's nice to see the community come together over something like this. As of this posting just about 16k in funding has been accrued. |
