Malachi is a font of information on many subjects. He shares some of what he knows of dragons as he and Björn head for cover.

Malachi explains that Björn is just an animal friend and works on conveying to the bear that the gargoyle is a friend.

Malachi mutters, "It's a gargoyle, for what it's worth. Not common around here, so maybe a rift opened up that-a-way."

Malachi searches his memory and finds something relevant, which he shares with everyone.

Malachi makes sure Björn is aware of the flying creature, as he draws his Wilk’s 320 laser pistol.

Note to other PCs: Malachi has the Common Bond edge, which allows him to share bennies with any other character he can communicate with. If you are running low on bennies and want a reroll, Malachi will share, although he will reserve his last for Agate.

Malachi takes the hint and gets out a custom made portable coffee brewing device and sets it to work. Soon there is a pot of Java to enjoy. He sends Björn out to forage for his breakfast.

Malachi gets up too and moves over to Björn.

Rereading the character creation notes on Malichi's animal compnaion, the default status of the animal is that it is an extra. He can take the Beast Master edge again when he advances and turn it into a wild card.

One of his character creation Hero's Journey rolls gave him the following: He’s traveled far and wide, and he knows a lot about the world that could come in handy. Your character gains a +2 on any Common Knowledge rolls related to geography and understanding the people and places of North America. He also gains a +2 on Survival and Networking checks in North America.

I'll make a survival roll to see if he knows anything about this tigator.

Agate loans her magic imaging goggles to Malachi who studies the creature as well.

Ride: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Modifier: -2 (default skill)

Malachi tries to get the coax Björn into a harness, but the bear will not participate. Malachi has never tried to ride his friend and so the bear is not used to such things.

"Better rent or buy a good draft horse," he shrugs as it becomes obvious the bear will not cooperate.

Male (he/him) Android (appears human) MARS Rogue Scholar & Sidekick of Agate

Doe anyone in the group have a horse that would pull the wagon?

Malachi's bear could pull the cart. What rolls if any would he have to make to get him to accept a harness? Also what kind of roll would it take to jury-rig a cart harness to work on a bear? Repair?

Male (he/him) Android (appears human) MARS Rogue Scholar & Sidekick of Agate

Malachi gets up fairly early and visits the butcher shop and procures sufficient meat for Björn as well as some honey, berries, and grain for his omnivore companion. He helps himself to some of the same after providing for the bear.

When not in the barn with him, Malachi secures Björn with a leather leash attached to a sturdy collar and ties it to a support pole in the barn, more to keep any visitor not expecting to find a bear in the barn from fearing for their lives. If the bear needed to get free, he could break the leather leash pretty easily. The bear is used to the company of people and doesn't get aggressive unless threatened.

When Agate is finishing up her breakfast, he reports on all this and asks if there is anything she needs him to do. Agate invites him to sit and orders him coffee and eggs. "After breakfast, I'll change and you can get my clothes cleaned. Then I'd recommend you get yours cleaned as well. We don't want people thinking we were raised by wolves ... or in your case, by bears, eh?"

Malachi accepts the credits and then offers lots of tips on how to keep the horse in working order until the person disengages from the conversation.

Malachi looks at the man's e-horse leg, moving it manually, opening an access panel, poking at the wires and servo-motors, all the while gabbing this and that model of horse, how their designs differ, which he prefers, and so on. He applies some lubrication, replaces a frayed wire, and cleans out one of the joints.

"That should do it," he concludes, closing the access panel and slapping the horse on its flank.

Because of his Mr. Fix It edge, this takes half or a quarter of the time it would ordinarily take.

Malachi stands, making sure he has his tool kit. "What seems to be the problem?"

Male (he/him) Android (appears human) MARS Rogue Scholar & Sidekick of Agate

Outside the saloon, a scruffy looking man with black hair and beard (both of which could use a trim), wearing a gaucho-style hat with a broad brim. He munches on some gamey meat Agate brought out to him, a small portion of a much larger steak that Björn, his bear companion is devouring.

Malachi has many tools and gadgets on his pack and various belts. His only weapon is a Wilk’s 320 “Classic” Laser Pistol and he is wearing Plastic Man Light EBA over dirty coveralls.

Malachi is completely worked out with details in his profile. He is Agate's sidekick.

Here is a draft of Agate's sidekick. I still have to purchase equipment and the GM should decide if the Beast Master animal companion or pet selected is okay. Also look at the construct traits I worked up, following the rules for new ancestries.

This character will not be much help in a fight, although if his Kodiak Bear companion is approved, he can fight to protect him. Malachi can also share bennies and taunt, as well as use weapons (d4 fighting and shooting skills, however). He has the minor pacifist hindrance as part of his construct features, so he will mainly fight in self defense or in defense of Agate and her companions.

He will be very helpful, however, with repairs and assisting Agate in her Techno-Wizard work. He has many smarts-based skills at high levels, as that is what he was constructed to help with. He also got the scrounger edge in rolling from the various tables, so he can help locate supplies.

I gave him the major secret hindrance, with his android nature being the secret. He looks and acts human. I'm assuming either the entity that created him would try to get him back or other corrupt entities would want to acquire him if his nature became generally known.

Like Starfinder Androids, I'm assuming he eats and drinks and processors inside convert the food to energy, perhaps supplemented by some other rechargeable energy unit. In fact, I'm thinking (as a quirk) he will be able to eat food others might find revolting and even ingest things that would be poisonous to humans, since his construct nature means he is immune to disease and poison.

Will knowledge of different languages be helpful and an important part of dealing with adventure challenges and if so, does anyone already have the linguist edge? I consider it in line with Malachi's construction to speak multiple languages and if it would be helpful, I can swap out an edge for Linguist.
