With all this time to imagine, I've a new character concept to bounce off you guys: Lawful neutral druid (menhir savant) with Aquatic Domain
I was thinking about Half-elf to get water child and almost swim speed. What do you think about the concept and race choice? cheers
Krovax Draverian wrote: Why work against each other, Mabelode? Together we could field an army of Undead and rule over the Shackles as Necromantic Overlords! ha ha. I wouldn't work against you. It was just overlap schtick. Hey, Crusty With Captain Andoran in Ruins, would you be open to Thor here? What races are you allowing again? Something like a Ulfen viking raider with an out-sized ego and maybe amnesia of the god parts? Too weird?
I'm thinking of a straight sorcerer. Any comments? How is our party balance? My only full arcane caster is in RL. I run a Blockbuster wizard in Reign of Winter. Cast my first fireball last night: 8d6+2 damage at 5th level. Dropped the white dragon preventing it from breathing. Unfortunately, it was also flying, so gravity stole my kill. ;D
Day 5:
Mabelode recovers from his exhaustion wakes up for an easy day of repairs. Working with the gnome, Niffer Tobbs, he asks him about how he arrived on the Wormwood and how he enjoys it. ______________________ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬Climb take 10+4=14 then Profession (sailor) take 10+7=17 Diplomacy to influence Niffer: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11 Night 5 Mabelode enjoys the fight between Osir and Owlbear.
Day 6:
Mabelode awakes from the night's entertainment to find heavy rainfall hitting the Wormwood. Now, he must run errands in it all day. Working with the halfling, Rosie Cusswell, he asks him about how she arrived on the Wormwood and how she enjoys it. ________________________ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬Acrobatics take 10+1=11 Constitution: 1d20 ⇒ 17 Diplomacy to influence Rosie: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8 Night 6 He tries to salvage his relationship with Rosie.
Day 7:
Mabelode continues to run errands all day in the heavy downpour. Working with his friend, Shirtless Shag, he tries to turn him helpful. ________________________
Night 7 He tries to salvage his relationship with Niffer.
Disclaimer: I’m feeling extraordinarily blah, sorry for the uninteresting posts. Cheers.
DM Crustypeanut wrote: Mabe, if you could pick a specific sailor to diplomacy, that would be preferred - I didn't complain last time because I had left you guys hanging for a few days. My understanding of this process is that he needs to diplomacy someone with whom he shares his daily task. And I don't know who that is. If it wasn't like that this, then he could be trying to diplomacy someone in the bilges or the rigging tops when he is supposed to be running. IMHO, that would be just as risky as exploring an area of the ship, which has more difficult game mechanics. And that's why the separation between riggers and swabs creates cliques. However, if you want us to pick whomever on the ship that we want to diplomacy without penalty, I can do that. Cheers
Day 4 Mabelode receives his job as runner with enthusiasm. While he doesn't linger, he gets to see almost the whole of the ship. He attempts to chit chat with any indifferent sailor who he shares the daily task and discover their story. He works himself to exhaustion, so he goes to bed early to recover.
Mabelode nods to his job, happy it keeps him on deck in the sun and freshest air. He busies himself hauling rope and repairing the rigging that was damaged during the fighting. He attempts to chit chat with any indifferent sailor who he shares the daily task. He tries to get the story of the fight and become friends. The day goes by better with wearing his favorite wooden armor. He works himself to exhaustion, so he goes to bed early to recover.
Mabelode fiercely grins when Caerlei mentions his name while fishing his new trident out of Runulf's red body. He was glad that demon-witch was in his crew. He casually climbs the net that covers the hull between the jolly boat and the deck making sure not to drop his new sticker. He lowers his expectations to attempt to avoid being surprised by anything he sees when he finally climbs aboard the Wormwood.
Mabelode's eyebrow arches at the ghoul comment. He had heard worse but not from someone that he had just fished out of the sea. That was new. He then shook his head at her manual labor comment. She won't last long and is not worth protecting, he thought to himself. He threw Osir a conspiratorial grin when it was clear that their assessment of the first fish aligned. His oar falls into rhythm with the large Caldaru sailor.
Mabelode will look for a moment for the creature's melee weapon and confirm the creature is not undead. Finding none, he settles back ready with his oar not wanting to lead. During the banter between the women, he decides to pray to his Divine Patron for life-giving sustenance. With a silent prayer, Mabelode exudes negative energy that billows around the boat like a invisible, cold fog. He breathes deep as his wounds knit closed. A second one fills the area again a few seconds later.
"Now that is something to stop rowing for. Get'em." Mabelode reacts to the armored fish warrior. He shoots him with a fire bolt.
Osir Korzar wrote: Robinton failed to get us moving on a natural 20? Well then I guess moving before we kill these sharks is out of the question. yes. I would have thought a high profession (sailor) check would have allowed some awareness of futility. If real life, two rowers are easier, especially really strong rowers, to coordinate than 4 rowers. oh well. cheers
"Great. We're fishing crew, and the skipper is fishing sharks. Osir, the sharks are under the bloody boat. What are you going to do use harsh language? Leave 'em alone. Osir, row with me. Robinton, if you're just singing, use the bloody tiller to guide us over to the next bit of shark meat over there." Mabelode holds his action to row until Osir and Robinton act. He doesn't want to lose another action.
"They are just sharks." Mabelode opines and continues to row. "Osir, don't you get frazzled, too. Keep rowing." Mabelode does not have a weapon. Nor does he think it intelligent to jump in the water to attack the sharks. He continues to row and readies a fire bolt if a shark attacks him. He decides that he will never get used to her growing glaives from her arms.
Mabelode was more comfortable in his veteran, wooden armor. He had carefully sanded smooth all of the nicks where splinters erupted. The past couple of days had been uncomfortable simply lacking the familiar weight. He was a bit surprised of the lack of reaction from Plugg or Scourge of his apparent full health. Either they didn't care or notice; both were equally probable. When the order came to crew the jolly boat, he was again surprised. Given a little wind, he thought that they could sail this thing back to Port Peril. His sea legs easily found him a seat in the rocking jolly boat. He grabbed an oar and sat opposite Osir to balance out their muscles. His strength was obvious. Mabelode's strength was oddly hidden within extraordinarily dense, whipcord muscles. The same surprising strength that muscled undead enjoy. After rowing away from the Wormwood, Mabelode looks over his shoulder every several strokes surveying the flotsam.

Mabelode is looking around the kitchen for a nice dagger. You mentioned it before in a description for Caerlie. I thought he would have time and distraction, since Grok brought the meeting to the kitchen.
As Helpful, can Grok at least return Mabelode his armor?
I don't interpret Szuriel that way. She is worshiped by "arms dealers, looters, mercenaries, soldiers, and warlords." All of those worshipers must have civilians to pay for war. Without civilians, nothing can be purchased with the spoils of war. Without a civilization, war is just survival. There are other deities that "want to kill everything solely For the Evulz", but not Mabelode's. cheers
Mabelode is evil from the point of view of anti-altruism and no respect for other people's lives. That being written, the party members and allies are viewed as more valuable alive than dead. Of course, poorly role-playing that relationship with him could change the calculation. And unreasonably betraying him will be asking to be killed. That's as nice as neutral evil can be, right?
Following the sociopathic tiefling towards the galley, Mabelode missed the opportunity to show is fine health to Plugg and Scourge. While that would have provided him some enjoyment, it would probably be short-lived. In his decades of living, he concluded that letting the powerful believe their power allowed one to be underestimated. The sociopathic tiefling was too young to have learned that lesson and flaunted it. He would either have to support her, in order to maintain her as a obvious distraction, or she would unmake herself. Odds are even on that outcome, he wondered to himself. "Evening Grok. Thank you for your time. I would greatly appreciate the return of my armor. If my weapons are needed, then I suspect you would be arming the crew for battle anyway, so they can stay with you in trust. However, I would truly appreciate your friendship. What can I do to repay you and in debt myself to you knowing that I have no coin?"
After his conversation, Mabelode will use the distraction of the others' negotiations to select the best dagger that he can find to hide on his person. Perception take 20+3=23.
Welcome, new players! Mabelode is much more subtly nasty than Caerlei. Crusty Does the crew wear armor? Meaning, if we get our armor, can we wear it? How much private space do we have to hide things? Meaning, what's the likelihood that I can hide a greatsword? And if someone steals it, where they could hide it? In the ceiling or floor? thanks
Crustypeanut wrote: I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses (Even though I totally am), but running a Pbp has been far different than I expected. I sort of want to stick to just being a player, but if you guys are honestly enjoying this campaign so far, that should be enough to get my lazy ass back into it. Yes. Running a PbP takes a lot of effort. If you don't gain energy from that effort, like Robert Brookes obviously does, then it consumes personal energy. Then, you procrastinate. It's human nature. I'm playing in a Skulls game already. I enjoy your game, but the slow pace aggravates me, which is why I was calling for interventions. I understand that you feel that you made a commitment to us to run the game, but I am completely alright with you closing the game. These pbp are supposed to be fun and generate good positive energy for everyone involved. cheers
After a couple of hours, Mabelode appears on deck in perfect health. He receives his supper and rum ration with only a small grin of satisfaction on his face. He finds and sits with his crew of the new arrivals. He cuts the rum as instructed and toasts to a better future.
regaining consciousness
After an hour of being tended without positive healing to harm him, Mabelode regains consciousness. "That was unpleasant," he says after many moans and groans. He whispers a brief prayer to Suziel and channels His energy.
"Thanks for tending to me, but let's go party." Mabelode gets up like the Golarion-version of Lazarus and heads up to the deck.
Crusty If any good Samaritan heals Mabelode, it might kill him. Maybe only a knowledge (local) would know that about Dhampirs. It would be really great if you would indicate when Mabelode can regain consciousness. When conscious, he'll heal himself and potentially be on deck for night time actions and Scourge's souring mood. cheers
