Hello all, submitting Lyra, a neutral, half-elf Cleric of Gozreh.

A former bandit rehabilitated by a hermit cleric of Gozreh, Lyra is interested in joining one of the parties that are intending to tame the Stolen Lands to ensure they remain respectful of the land they travel through.

Question: What are your thoughts on reflavoring "Eyes and Ears of the City " into "Eyes and Ears of the Forest"?

original trait:
Eyes and Ears of the City (LN): Your religious training involved serving in the city watch of a large city, the primary duty of which was standing sentinel on a city wall. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks, and Perception is always a class skill for you.

Interested. May be submitting a cleric of Gozreh.

It’s also worth noting that your average citizen or soldier of Vigil would not consider joining Dierik’s caravan a worthy act. The general populace’s focus is firmly on defending their borders from the orc threat. Joining a caravan seems like shirking your responsibilities. Joining a caravan that is heading into the Hold of Belkzen, and will likely trade with the orcs, verges on the treasonous.

Lyra is more concerned with learning the truth of her sister's disappearance more than she is with how her actions appear to others.

A strong character; and nice to see a female cleric given the testosterone heavy nature of most of the submissions!

Thank you and though she may not have as much testosterone as all the guys, she isn't exactly the type to just sit back in a fight. She likes to think that she is more than capable of taking care of herself both in battle and out in the wilderness.

Also, I had a question about the 'Lost Kin' trait that I took. Is there a chance of finding the lost kin during the course of the campaign or at least finding some sign of their demise?

Working up a human cleric of Erastil to submit. Will be going with the 'Lost Kin' trait.

Lyra peers ahead and they're still riding/walking towards the lights. "Can anyone make out any details about those lights yet?"

perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"Well, I suppose those could either be lights to a village or a group of will-o-wisps waiting to lure us to our deaths or something. I'm rather hoping for the village option. Perhaps we've even manage to stumble upon the one that we have been seeking?"

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"May we ask from whence you came and where you are heading?" I wonder if he knows of the village we are searching for?

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Hopefully we all are not so jumpy we kill the poor fella by mistake. :)

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra turns towards the noise, pointing her crossbow in that direction. "Can anyone see what's making the noise??

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra replies gloomily. "There's always the chance we've walked into something worse than worgs..."

Not that she's a great shot or anything, but Lyra is riding while holding her crossbow. It just makes her feel safer to have a weapon in her hands.

"Simon? Do you recall ever having passed through those gates before or even just hearing of them before?"

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"Maybe we could get lucky and the path will lead to the village that we are searching for?" Lyra is trying hard to be optimistic despite the circumstances.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra pulls her cloak tighter about herself as the group begins to move again. "I can't wait to feel the warmth of the sun again."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"Well, shall we just keep on going for now? Surely it can't go on forever...."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Knowledge religion to see if I can figure anything out about the fog and spellcraft
religion 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
spellcraft 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

"What'd I'd really like is to figure out a way to make this fog go away or at least find an end to it."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra shakes her head. "We still have a mission to see to. More young women could be endangered if we spend too much time trying to seek out that creature."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"I'd just as soon shoot it from afar with a crossbow bolt. Much safer that way."

"Is everyone well enough to continue traveling? Simon, did you receive any injuries?"

Lucrezia will gather all her belongings up and when mounted she will tie her part of the rope to her pommel.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"One moment Dourmahr." Once she finds him, Lyra will tap him with a clw wand. "No sense in walking around bleeding if you don't have too."

"And you are forgiven Jeremiah, though I think Pharasma is one of the least fickle gods."

clw 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra takes hold of Simon's outstretched hand. "Lyra, right here beside you Simon. Are those things gone now? Did we scare them off maybe?"

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

I am here and fine, thank you. Those actions will be fine for my R5 ones.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Not wanting to keep backing up and leave the area of the fire, Lyra drops her crossbow to the ground beside her and draws her morningstar and swings it at the worg in front of her.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra will fire a bolt at the tripped worg.
If it is dead by her turn, she will pick another to fire at.
attack 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 2 = 19
damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Lyra glances over at Simon, glad for his continued and guarding presence near her. She then returns her full attention back to the worgs and fire a bolt at the one he just tripped.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

I'll just be hanging out in the back to heal you guys when you're done with the fighting. :)

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

re-dot

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra attempts to take a step back from the worg threatening her and fires another bolt at it.

5ft step from it then fire.
attack 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22
damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Past few month I've been doing to the stay at home mom thing. Very boring.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
damage 1d8 ⇒ 5
confirm 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 nope

"Simon!" As she sees Simon go down, Lyra fires off another crossbow bolt at the creature.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

attack 1d20 ⇒ 9
damage 1d8 ⇒ 7

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra is readying her crossbow to fire at the first hostile creature she sees. She will be staying beside the campfire for now since she needs the light to see by.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra will grab up her crossbow as she looks about, wondering what might come crashing through the underbrush at any moment.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

The sound of Jack howling scares Lyra awake fearing they are besieged by lycanthropes. "What? Werewolves? Are we under attack?"

Initiative 1d20 ⇒ 16

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Once she has the tent set-up, Lyra settle down beside the fire as she prepares to take her turn at watch.

"Hopefully we are still far enough away from the source of trouble to have an uneventful night. I would also think that Red and I should take care not be alone if at all possible since we fit in the catergory of women who have either gone missing or suffered from the wasteing."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"I don't have the best night vision, so perhaps it would be best to partner me with someone who has decent night sight?"

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

When they find a spot to camp for the night, Lyra dismounts and removes all her gear and saddle from her horse and then begins to set up her tent. As she works, she asks the group: "I suppose it's safe to assume we are posting watches for the night, correct? I would prefer either first or last watch if no one minds."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

9ish woulda been my guess as well.

Lyra gathers up her pack and doublechecks to make sure Simon hadn't left behind any papers. Then she'll follow him out to the stables and get her own horse ready to leave as well.

Once outside she'll ask quietly: "I assume you noticed the way the woman paled and made every symbol she knew to ward off evil. Obviously even the locals this far out know that something strange and unnatural is going on in Barovia. I would have asked what she thought was going on there except that I figured that would just get us thrown out of the inn. Likely these poor people are superstitious enough to believe that any mention of what's going on could attract unwanted attention to them as well."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"I have tent as well. Perhaps we can go a short distance and then set up camp for the rest of the night? I still don't want to miss the trail in the dark and it might be safer to sleep nearby than out in the middle of no-where."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"It would be better for us to sleep for a few hours and then head out right before dawn. The woman said the trail is disused, therefore we may quite easily miss it in the dark. Though I'd like to Bavoria as soon as possible, I don't wish to waste time getting lost and doubling back if we miss the trail. Plus we do need to get at least a little bit of rest in since we have no way of knowing what we may run into on the way there."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
(What a wonderful first roll for a game)
I'll also overpay for the food if that helps any :)

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

When the woman comes back to the table, Lyra stops her a moment to ask a few questions. "Excuse me, but we haven't traveled in this region much and were wondering if you could perhaps help us with some directions. We are trying to get to Barovia, but aren't sure if we are heading the right way. Have you perhaps heard of it or know someone hereabouts that may be more familiar with other nearby towns?"

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"I suppose we could keep on the road for another day, perhaps we will get lucky and pick the right one to lead us there? We could also ask the innkeeper if he knows where it is or at least if he's ever had any patrons from there and which direction they came from."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

That is a lot of moving.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"Dourmahr? Why, he is right.." Lyra pauses as she turn to where the bard was "...here?

Lysa shakes her head. "I swear I didn't even notice him leave. Well, I'm sure he'll be back any moment now. It is very nice to meet you Doctor Calvin."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

I'm in Monterey. It's quite a bit colder than I expected.

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

I was in West Virginia until last month when I had to move out here to California. Big difference...

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

"Thank you Red. I was beginning to worry that we'd be stuck sleeping outside tonight again. I much prefer being indoors at night, especially on one like tonight. Cold, damp and you can't even see what little light the moon is putting out due to the clouds."

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Lyra nods in agreement. "Cold and rather damp. Perhaps some hot stew would help to warm us up." Lyra waves over a serving girl. "Excuse me, could we each please have a bowl of whatever stew happens to be simmering in the kitchen as well as some bread and cheese?"

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Does 50 gp sound reasonable for a chainmail style silver choker?

But how does Wexley feel about Lycanthropes and the Undead?

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

I will go with longer as well.

Now to go take the cheaper wand and buy a few more things. Like more scrolls. :)

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Then we will just have to decide what kind of Lycanthrope Simon and Lyra have hunted together before and how that hunt went. :)

Female Half-elf Cleric / 1

Would you have much cause to hang out with or recruit a cleric of Pharasma with a rather strong hatred of Lycanthropes?
